Curt ran his lips over her temple as Erin sighed and fidgeted restlessly yet again. He crooned to her; unsure, as he had been unsure for some time, whether or not she was actually asleep. She punched her pillow and uttered several harsh curses, settling that issue.
“What can I do?” Curt asked quietly. “What do you need?”
“Call Adam and Hunter — right now — please.” She was slightly breathless and extremely weary.
“Why? Are there beasts coming?” he asked urgently.
“Not yet, but soon,” she decided. “Or maybe not. They know — what I can do to them, now.”
“How do you know? The stone’s power or Sarah?”
“Neither. Deductive reasoning. Lorian was right. We’re having babies tonight, Daddy.”
Curt launched off the bed, kissing Erin as he punched in Hunter’s number from memory and fished for his clothes. Hope for the future or not, it was more than a month early, and he was fighting panic. For the first time in history, a Blutjagdfrau was about to be born in a hospital. After all, what beast would be stupid enough to come now that word of Erin’s abilities had circulated the hive mind? But, just in case, he’d have half the Warriors in the North American ranges in place as their private security crew by morning…

Brenna Lyons lives in Haverhill, MA with her husband, three children, and a zoo of pets. She is a poet and novelist who has a poem on the cover of the Treble Heart release of Full Moon Inheritance by Jacqueline Elliott and sixteen completed novels currently at home with four separate publishing houses.
Brenna enjoys the Society for Creative Anachronism and is a member of such groups as Broad Universe, EPIC and ERA.
Brenna holds a BS in Accounting and a Certificate of Computer Programming. Why? An auditing teacher commented that she would either “make the perfect auditor or the perfect thief,” and she had been writing for eleven years with little professional training -- in effect, a thief of attention by misdirection.
In the years since that fateful day, she has worked as an accountant and auditor, as a stock clerk and running a cash register, as a tutor, in child care, and as a writer -- always as a writer.
