The Fallon Brothers: Kinney

by Esther E. Schmidt

She leans into my touch and closes her eyes.

“Open your fucking eyes, dammit, look at me,” I snap, scared she’s gonna pass out on me again.

Her eyes flare open and she glares at me. “Rude.” She almost bites my head off with just one word. “I was taking in the sweet words you gave me since we were having a moment and you fucking ruined it.”

Laughter rips from me and it might be nerves but I don’t care. I’d rather have her snapping at me than falling into oblivion.

“Something is wrong,” Kier says from the front seat as we drive up to the clubhouse. The front door is wide open and all the lights are off.

“Kier, you hang in there and keep your head straight, you hear me?” I tell him but I know it’s useless since I’m acting different myself with Aspen hurt and Kier doesn’t know if Mira is safe. Shea was dead set on taking her.

“I ain’t promising shit, Pres. But I will fight like hell,” he vows.

We get out and I take Aspen in my arms. The doctor rushes toward me. “Someone fired a gun from the inside. They almost shot me so I waited outside.”

“Good call, doc,” Kier says and palms his gun. Taking a step in the direction of the clubhouse he yells, “It’s me, Kier. I’m coming in.”

“Don’t come in or I’ll shoot. And if you’re Kier, how do I know it’s you?” a voice asks all shaken and thin, and I now recognize it’s the voice of Bell.

“Because you fucking know me and I’ll grip your nuts and crack them, you idiot. Now I’m coming in to check if my old lady is okay.”

Kier doesn’t wait for the prospect’s reply but stalks toward the clubhouse. The light comes on and the prospect appears in the doorway.

“You guys are really here.” Bell sighs in relief.

I carry Aspen to the door. “Lower your damn gun and move to the side. My old lady is hurt and needs the doc’s help.”

“I can’t lower my gun. He might still be out there, I shot him once but I don’t know if he left.”

Kier rushes past him and I can hear him yell, “Mira? Mira! Mira, where are you? She here? Where the fuck is she?”

“What happened?” I ask Bell who helps me place Aspen on the large table.

The doctor is already opening his bag and heads for the bar to wash his hands. He’s putting on gloves when the prospect says, “I saw Dan drive up and there was a car behind him. I knew he was put on a task to watch Shea and I thought it was weird that he’d come here with Shea while he called for you guys to come check what was going on at Shea’s house. You guys headed there but didn’t return with them. Chance told me to be alert and keep my eyes peeled for anything out of the ordinary, and this didn’t make sense. So, I told Mira to head for your room instead of Kier’s and to lock herself in the bathroom. I grabbed the gun from underneath the bar and aimed it at the door. Dan came in with guns blazing so I returned fire. I hit the lights because I can see really good in the dark and I know I hit Shea too and they backed out. But it’s only been ten minutes. What if they are still out there? Did you see any blood?”

Byrne stumbles into the clubhouse. “Why is there a blood trail leading out and stopping as if someone got into a car? What the hell? Is the feisty one okay? What did you get yourself into now, troublemaker?”

The doctor shoves a needle into her skin and she crushes my hand.

Her hand suddenly goes slack and I start to curse but the doc cuts me off. “She’s fading in and out of consciousness. Let me do my job. She’s losing blood and I have to get the bullet out. Your abrasive language isn’t helping.”

Kier comes rushing back into the main room and if my curses were loud, his are bouncing off the walls as he roars out his fury.

“Where the fuck is she? Did he take her? Fucking pay attention, boy. What did you see? What happened?”

Bell swallows hard at Kier’s fury.

“The prospect, Dan, is dead. His body is outside,” Byrne states.

“He was a fucking rat,” I snap. “If he wasn’t dead already, he would be now.”

Aspen moans and I stroke her hair in an effort to comfort her.

“All I saw was Mira heading for the hallway when they came in through the front. No one got past me, I swear,” Bell says.

Aspen murmurs something and even if Mira is important and we need to find out what happened, but right now what matters most is Aspen. Even my own damn arm hurting like shit doesn’t need attention.

“You’re okay, darlin’. It’ll all be okay, you’ll see.” I stroke her hair again to comfort the both of us.

  “Mira,” she croaks.

“We’ll find her,” I vow. “No matter what, we will find out what happened and get her back if he took her.”

“Storage room,” she groans. “I told her to head for the storage room if something happened. She would be hiding behind the rack with the canned food. There’s a gun. She would have a gun.”

“You’re fucking brilliant,” Kier compliments, his voice filled with hope as he rushes off in the direction of the storage room.

I hope to fuck she’s there because if she isn’t...Kier is going to flip and raise hell to get the woman back.

“Bullet is out. I have to check everything but so far it looks good. You need to sit down, Kinney. You’re next,” the doc says but my eyes are fixed on Aspen.

With everything that happened and with Aspen lying in front of me, with a fucking bullet wound, I now realize I love this woman. And don’t want my life to be without her.

The sound of a gunshot blasts through the air just as Nics and Chance stroll into the clubhouse. Both guns drawn they head for the hallway, but Kier stalks toward him with Mira in his arms.

“We’re fine. I spooked her, no one is hurt. Well, she did shoot the rice so we have to dig a bullet from the bag before we cook it.” The man releases an easy chuckle.

  “Thank fuck,” I mutter.

“Doc, she’s pregnant. Can you make sure my girls are okay?” Kier asks, and I could hit the fucker over the head.

“He’s fixing my old lady, asshole. Don’t you see the damn bullet wound in her leg he’s stitching up? Motherfucker, your woman doesn’t have a scratch on her. Get in line.”

He glares at me and his gaze slides to my arm. “Fine but he’s checking her out before he checks on your arm.”

I shake my head and give in, knowing Mira is Aspen’s first priority too, and I don’t want either woman upset. “Fine. It’s not like I’m bleeding out or anything.”

  Kier snorts. “Pussy.”

Nics puts his gun away. “We handled everything back at the mansion, also torched the van of those fuckers on stakeout. What happened here?”

“Shea and Dan thought it was an easy in and out to snatch up Mira. They didn’t count on a damn good prospect holding down the fort.” I give a nod of appreciation in Bell’s direction and he proudly gives a chin lift back. “He managed to take out Dan but Shea is in the wind. He thinks he did shoot Shea, though.”

“Judging from the blood trail I’d say he got him good. Dunno if he could have made it far, even if he got in a car,” Byrne states.

“Me and Nics passed a car accident. A car against a tree. The whole thing was on fire and the firemen were trying to put it out. You think that’s Shea?” Chance says.

“I’ll head out to check or do you need me, Dad?” Byrne questions and the doc doesn’t takes his eyes off Aspen’s leg when he says, “I have everything under control.”

Byrne glances at me. “I will try to find out what I can.” He turns and heads out of the clubhouse.

Time passes where Aspen is looking pale but the doc said she will be just fine. He takes a moment to check Mira—who is okay—before he finally tends to my arm. The pain slicing through me is bearable with the woman who is pressed against my side.

I kiss the top of her head and murmur, “I fucking adore you, so don’t ever scare the shit out of me like that.”

“Then don’t make me come after you to save yo
ur ass,” she grumbles and it makes me chuckle.

  “Deal,” I vow.

She glances up and echoes with a voice filled with emotion, “Deal.”

  EPILOGUE

  Three months later

  — Aspen —

I walk out of the bathroom naked to find a clean shirt to sleep in. Finding one in Kinney’s drawer, I quickly throw it on and release a choppy breath. The shower I took didn’t do anything to calm my raging thoughts.

“Why do you look more nervous than me?” Kinney says and his eyes narrow to scrutinize me some more.

I really don’t need this right now. Dammit, judging from my mood swing, I might get my period soon anyway. No worries about things that have less than a ten percent capability. Slim to none, is that even a ten percent chance to get pregnant?

I simply shrug his concerns away. “There’s still uncertainty. You’ve said it yourself that the body found in the burned vehicle couldn’t be identified. It could, or could not have been Shea. We still don’t know shit and with that I can’t leave my worries behind that something might happen to Mira. Even if three months have passed.”

A deep sigh rips from his body. “It’s fucking annoying. I haven’t been able to locate Fabrizio, his head of security. I know Shea had a few contacts I didn’t know about. We worked together and I took point in most things but that doesn’t mean Shea never handled things on his own. He handled extreme stuff, stuff I never wanted to be a part of, all on his own. Catch my drift?”

“You mean how Fabrizio could be the burned body and Shea is recovering somewhere in hiding until he’s back to full strength to come for Mira and strike hard?” My heart starts to pump vigorously at the mere thought of Shea still alive and biding time to plan his revenge.

Kinney steps closer and cups my face with both hands. “None of this is helping. We’re on top of it and I don’t want you to worry about anything, okay? Kier doesn’t let Mira out of his sight here at the clubhouse. And when they go out there are always two brothers on their ass at all times. We have taken precautions and if this means they need to hold up for the rest of their lives…so be it. Safety first and all.”

I lean forward and place my lips against his. Gentle at first but when Kinney takes control there is nothing left but to let him dominate my mouth with a scorching kiss. His hand slides underneath my shirt, cupping my breast and tweaking my nipple.

“I fucking love how your breasts have become firmer, slightly bigger or fuller, whatever...damn perfect in my hands.”

His words make me go rigid. Did he just mention the fact he noticed a change in my body? So, I didn’t imagine it?

He pulls back and murmurs, “What’s wrong, darlin’? Let go of your worries and live in the moment. Trust the strength of the brotherhood surrounding us to have our back while we allow ourselves to enjoy each other.”

“It’s not that,” I blurt. “My period is off. It’s always off but now I have insane thoughts and worry about something that’s not even possible, and it’s silly, really. But I still worry.”

His hands sneak around my waist and he pulls me flush against his body. With his other hand he cups the side of my face and tells me, “You’re so fucking beautiful. Put those thoughts aside if you’re worried about a possible pregnancy. If you are in fact pregnant it’s a gift you never expected, something to fucking treasure. Something the both of us will damn well treasure. But I don’t want you to have your hopes up or get disappointed if you’re not. And I know my words won’t take away the worry or the disappointment for something you want deep down, ‘cause I know you do. One breath at a time, love. We will have a family of our own one day no matter how, we will make it work.”

“I’m overthinking and probably worrying about nothing. All while we have enough on our plate.” I step back and grab the hem of my shirt, pulling it over my head and let it fall to the ground. “Let’s have sex to distract ourselves.”

His face washes over with intense lust and it triggers a flare of desire deep inside me. Oh, who am I kidding; I always crave this man no matter the time or day.

“Aspen,” he murmurs huskily. “Careful, there, little spitfire. I might need to fuck some sense into you if you don’t listen to sound advice.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” I shrug and let my fingernails trail up and down his back underneath the fabric of his shirt. “I am taking your advice. Or does trying to start a family not entail screwing our brains out with unprotected sex? Because we have done that uncountable times already and I’d say the whole ‘fuck some sense into me’ also fits in that category, so we’re both in agreement. Wouldn’t you say?”

  “You’re hot,” he growls.

  “And naked,” I reply.

His chuckle is hot against my lips and I can feel his hands work his jeans to get them off. He breaks our kiss momentarily to get rid of the rest of his clothing. He grabs my hips and hoists me up, allowing me to wrap my legs around his waist. I can already feel the heat of his dick nudging my entrance.

My ass is in his hands and the both of us are craving one another badly enough for him to surge up and fill me in one stroke. Our lips break apart and I bury my head into the crook of his neck, desperately holding on as he starts to take us on a ride to chase the orgasms we both crave.

“I love this ass, these hips, this pussy taking my cock so damn well as if it’s only been made for me. And it is, isn’t it?”

His words penetrate relentlessly as is his dick, and I mindlessly reply with the first words that come to mind, “I love you.”

As soon as those three words spill from my lips I tense up and realize I’ve said the one thing I haven’t told another man. It’s too soon to say it out loud, right?

But his strokes never falter and he grunts out his words with a rough undertone when he says, “Yeah, you sure as fuck love me. You’re mine, Aspen. All mine and we will be together until our last breath because that’s something we can control. All other shit depends on others and what life throws at us, but this? You and me? We’re good.”

Okay, the way he gives me those words makes my heart swell. And the way his hips keep thrusting his dick deep inside me makes my pussy clench in anticipation for the orgasm scratching at the surface. Though he hasn’t given me the three words back and yet the feelings and emotions are shimmering between us and are openly displayed in his eyes.

His hands knead my butt cheeks and he shifts me easily to surge his dick up to hit a delicious spot inside me to instantly detonate my orgasm. My head falls back as I scream his name, digging my nails into his shoulders to hold on as my body is overtaken by ripples of pleasure.

He grunts my name moving slightly forward and I feel the coldness of the wall behind me. He balances us as he spills his cum while his dick pulses and twitches inside me. Rough pants fill the air and I’m squashed in between the wall and Kinney’s body.

His head pulls back and his eyes are pinning me in place as his words flow from his heart to mine when he says, “No other woman has earned the love I didn’t think I was capable of. But you, and only you, will receive all I have to give. Because Aspen...I sure as fuck love you too.”

I try to play it off and croak, “You don’t have to be such a romantic about it.”

But the emotions coursing through me are shimmering through my voice, betraying how his words touch me deeply. He slowly leans forward and ever so sweetly places his lips against mine as he gives a quick and tender kiss.

When he pulls back there’s mischief in his eyes when he says, “Let’s get you back into the shower so I can dirty you up some more.”

I roll my eyes. “Cheesy, Kinney.”

He gives me a smirk as he pulls out of me and places me on my feet. “But you love me anyway.”

“Yeah,” I sigh overdramatically. “Not sure why, but I do.”

He guides me toward the bathroom, takes a step back and smacks my ass.

I furiously rub the sting away while I glare at him. “What
was that for?”

“Don’t ditch on our love,” he says with a stern voice.

I’m still rubbing my butt—which I’m sure carries his handprint—when I say, “Don’t ditch? What are you, a freaking teenager?”

He gives me a smirk. “I am when it comes to rubbing one out at the thought of your tight pussy.”

“Real mature,” I mutter but squeal loudly when he suddenly scoops me up and throws me over his shoulder.

“I’ll show you mature,” he growls and my body starts to tingle with excitement.

Nothing is ever dull when this man is involved and I’m thankful we have our whole lives ahead of us to explore what other challenges we can face together.

Old or new threats by enemies—or whatever else life might throw at us—as long as we’re together with a strong and solid brotherhood having our back, there isn’t anything we can’t overcome.

  Another three months later

“You’re huge, I really can’t imagine doing that. I’m freaking out at the mere thought. How on earth will you be able to squeeze all of that out through your...yikes, never mind,” I blurt and cringe right after.

Mira shakes her head and grabs her strawberry milkshake. “I actually look forward to squeezing her out. I’m tired. My feet and back hurt and I’ve seen my little girl on a screen a few times and I really want to squeeze her cheeks in person.” Mira swallows hard. “I really didn’t think I would be able to love this kid. Not how she came into my life but she’s days away from being born and every negative thing surrounding her has fallen away for me.”

“It’s because of Kier.” I reach out and pat her knee.

She gives me a smile. “Yes. It’s all because of him. He doesn’t even care how she was conceived. All he says is that she’s mine and seeing as I’m his, this little girl is his to welcome to this planet too. I’m telling you he’s fought with me on names as if he is the father. And he’s nervous. Yes, it’s most definitely because of him I’m able to enjoy becoming a mom. Not to mention having a boyfriend who likes me and this unborn baby.”
