“Don’t you remember how good it felt?” She closed that small gap between them, gliding her lips over his. Licking them and tasting that hint of herself there before letting her own voice drop to a huskier level. “The way you filled me up? How tight I was around you while you fucked me until I didn’t remember my own name?”

But she’d known his name. Her cries of it had echoed on that mountain road so loud that she swore she still heard them every time she’d ridden through since.

“Damn it, Trina.” But he was saying it against her lips, kissing her back. His mouth fitting to hers, his tongue in her mouth where she could suck on it and remind him of other things she was good at. And he let her do it, let her draw him in and lave him and stroke him and suck.

He yanked back, practically dropping her back to the bed. “Shit, where the hell are those pants?”

He made short work of finding the pile of dusty white leathers by the couch and yanking out the precious little packets. His hot gaze found hers again as he stripped right there, leaving his sweats and her pants in a tangled mess. His shirt went next, falling onto the couch, instantly forgotten. Who cared about it when there was a nearly six and a half foot tall work of art headed her way with a cock that had her mouth and her pussy watering all over again?

She let her gaze eat him up. His golden skin, the chiseled muscle he’d earned with years of brutal dedication to his military training. Would he let her trace her tongue down the trail of dark hair that started just above his belly button, growing in an ever thickening path down to where his sex jutted out insistently? A two-hand man, she thought with a lascivious grin, watching it bob with each step closer to her he came. Because she could fist both hands around the shaft at the same time and still have room to aim the plum colored head right into her mouth.

Next time, she decided, when Cade made it back to her, his face in determined lines. He wasn’t coming to play like he’d been before and God help her, she felt herself cream more just from the thought. He took hold of her legs, spinning her so that her ass came right to the edge of the bed, her knees on either side of his hips. He claimed her mouth, one hand cupping her jaw, while the other lifted her knee, opening her and sliding his length right up through her folds. The ridge stroked her, making her gasp against his kiss. Back and forth he shuttled, until her gasps became sighs and her sighs became pants. She reached her hand down to grip him, his slick flesh pumping through her fist harder with each pass. Much more of this and she’d come again. Hard.

“Condom,” he commanded and she didn’t care if she hopped to. She blindly sought the packet at her side, finding the strip of them and tearing one open. He let go of her face to help her guide the latex down his length, then together, they both worked him into her hot channel.

She stopped breathing, not sure if her heart was still beating, until he sank fully into her. They stared silently into each other’s eyes, all trace of play gone. She lay back into the blankets, the white shirt falling open over her, while he withdrew. Just as careful, he pushed back in to the hilt, sending so many sensations through her she didn’t know how to process them. All she knew anymore was that his hands were locked on her hips and she was full of him. Again he pulled back, driving forward faster, each thrust picking up just that little bit more speed. Depth. Power. Until he was pulling her down to grind her clit against his body.

Throwing her own arms over her head, Katrina finally closed her eyes and gave in completely to the onslaught of his rapid thrusts. And when he curved over her, his tongue laving her left nipple, sucking the tip deep into his mouth, she was lost.

It was the whimper, she figured, that finally took him from his steady rhythm. From his control. As soon as it passed her lips, he froze for an entire second. And then all hell broke loose.

Wild, bucking thrusts bounced her while his hands anchored her to him. Breath stolen, tension building, Trina looked up and saw him, raw and uninhibited. Cheeks flushed, skin covered in a gleaming sheen, every powerful muscle flexing in silent concert. Masculine beauty, intensity she could feel on her skin, in her core. So much power, but none of it used to hurt her, only to bring them both pleasure. The waves of that flowed through her, every stroke a rapid fire explosion until she was nothing but heightened need. Tightening. Coiling.

“Cade,” she whispered, reaching for his hand.

Just like every other time she reached for him, he caught her.

That final touch and she burst, the orgasm crashing through her like sea waves. One after another, bombarding her, and through it all, he held on. Long after the clenching muscles of her core dragged him with her into oblivion, he held onto her. Her center in the blinding maelstrom.

Finally, he fell to the mattress next to her, still buried inside her with what seemed to be absolutely no interest in leaving. She had just enough energy to nudge his shoulder.

  “You should…take off the condom.”

Eyes still closed, he hugged her closer. “Uh-uh. I let you go, you’ll find a way to run for it.”

She chuckled, however pathetic a laugh it was. “Oh, like I can use my legs after that.” It was hard enough to use her mouth, much less her limbs.

“Nope. There’s no way to prove you won’t make a run for it now that you’ve gotten what you wanted out of me.”

She wished he didn’t have a damn good reason for feeling that way. But at least she did have one thing in her favor. “I can guarantee you I won’t leave this time, Cade.”

  “Yeah, how’s that?”

“Simple,” she replied, pressing a kiss to his damp chest. “There’s still two condoms left.”

It took him a few seconds, but his eyes finally opened. “Fine, but if you so much as twitch from this spot, I’m fucking you until you need a wheelchair.” He seemed to think about that for a moment before kissing her again, hard and fast, then getting up. “And for God’s sake, woman, after all you’ve put me through, you’d damn well better twitch.”

She was still laughing when he got back.

  Chapter Five

  She was purring again.

Cade opened his eyes, only the barest amount, because if this was a dream, he didn’t want to wake up yet.

Nope, she was really there. Parked between his outstretched legs, black hair spilling over his belly and hips, her mouth wrapped around his cock. Purring.

Soft hands caressed his sac, gripped his shaft and basically uncorked his brain. Or maybe that happened because her tongue wrapped around the head while she sucked him down. Then she really got determined because she drove down deeper, pushing him past the squeezing pressure at the back of her mouth…into her throat.

He said something unintelligible. Or maybe he roared it, he couldn’t be sure. He just knew he grabbed a hold of her hair while she kept making that noise all around his cock. He tried to pull back, but she wasn’t having it. She followed, pushing him deeper still, rising once for a breath then taking him farther than before.

Vicious pleasure knifed down every single one of his nerve endings, searing in its intensity and he knew, just knew, if he didn’t get her off in the next half second he was going to die coming down her throat.

She came off him with a pop and a giggle, damn her, flying up onto his chest hard enough to push the air out of them both.

Which didn’t stop her from laughing. “Awww, lover, I was just getting somewhere.”

He gripped her ass tight, steering her to a safe position higher on his belly. Unfortunately for him, she was hot and wet against his skin and his control skidded further from his grip. “You have two-tenths of a second to find a condom or what you’ll be getting is pregnant.”

Her yelp—had to be from the threat of pregnancy because really, she should have known he’d shift his hand over that taut ass and sink his fingers into her—wrestled a tight smile out of him. Well, that and the string of swear names she called him while simultaneously trying to reach the condoms at the foot of the bed and not shift too far from his pumping f
ingers.

He knew she got them when she pulled off him. Quick as a flash, the latex rolled over him and the tight glove of her pussy settled over him. “You sure you’re okay for this?”

Quite possibly the most painful question he’d ever asked in his life.

She sort of nodded, eyes closed as she sank all the way down his length.

His urgency didn’t fade, but for an endless moment, he could only stare at her. Passion stained cheeks, lips still swollen and wet from sucking him, her hair falling wildly around her shoulders… She was the most beautiful thing he’d ever seen in his life and for this second, this single breath in time, she was his.

As if she could hear his thoughts, her eyes opened; sleepy and tempestuous. Challenging. He found himself rising to it, levering his torso up as far as he could, meeting her lips in a slow, almost chaste kiss. He cupped her face into his hand, their tongues meeting in a careful exploration. Making the most of a moment so perfect, so absolutely right, he knew it couldn’t last.

She shifted, her hips rocking lightly, and it disappeared beneath a tidal wave of need. Need to claim her. To please her. To love her.

He fell back to his elbows, thrusting upward while she ground down. He couldn’t stop, each lift rougher, more desperate. Wild little cries bounced out of her, especially when he took hold of her hips and really started pounding into her. Her own hands grasped her breasts, pulling at her nipples while her head fell back and her hair swung everywhere. It brushed the tops of his thighs and that was all it took. He ground as high into her as he could, yanking her mouth to his while she screamed her own orgasm, her body shuddering against him, around him, milking his cock of everything it had to give and his heart of everything it had left inside it.

He let go, both of them breathing hard, eyes still closed, heartbeats still racing. Let go completely, because he had no way to hold it in any longer. She owned him, body and soul, broken spirit and sundered will. All he was. Forever.

“I love you, Trina,” he breathed the words, a harsh vow she couldn’t possibly comprehend. But that wasn’t the point. The point was knowing he’d accepted it. And that it would never, ever change.

  ***

Trina lay in the circle of Cade’s arms, his breath warm and soothing against her neck. For the better part of an hour, he’d been resting behind her as if everything in the world were finally at rights while she stared out into the shadows of the cabin, her mind whirring with thoughts she couldn’t stop.

Even in sleep, his strength, his very character, made her feel safe, but she still couldn’t lower her guard. She stared at the door, waiting, worrying that she’d somehow been followed. That they might have tracked her, that she’d brought death to his door. But no one would knock on this door mere feet from where they lay. Because, from what Cade had told her over the last year, no one even knew this cabin had been built. This was his special place, the land purchased with the old cabin already built by a former recluse he knew from the military. That had been part of the reason he’d accepted the job in Marketta, only two hours drive from this small piece of heaven. He didn’t get up here as often as he’d like, either, so no one would think to find him here. Which made it safe as it could be.

That’s why he loved it so much.

He told her once that he’d spent months up here alone after his time in Afghanistan. Trying to find some peace. She remembered asking him if he’d ever found it. His steady gaze, full of something she’d been too afraid to decipher, locked on her face and he simply said, “Not yet.”

She’d felt the same way tonight when he’d said he loved her. Overwhelmed. Undeserving. A fraud. She hadn’t known what to say at all, and to make it worse, he seemed to have enjoyed making her speechless. The smile across his face, God, she’d never seen anything more amazing. She knew, looking down at him from her perch on his lap, that this was the man he was before the war. Still intense, but open. Comfortable in his skin. The kind of man who knew exactly who he was and what his place was in the world.

How did you not kiss a man like that until neither of you could stay upright any longer? Simple. You didn’t. She’d held him while they touched, caressed and just savored the intimacy of being together. Finally spent, he’d drifted off. Leaving her to spoon herself against him and think. Think about how very close it all had come to being a completely different night. If Frank had had his way, she’d have been brutalized and probably beaten to within an inch of her life. Shana would be dragged back to Marketta to pay with her blood for her betrayal.

  Cade would be dead.

She swallowed now, the fear that had ridden her still strong enough to form a knot in her throat and try to strangle her. If she hadn’t remembered every conversation they’d ever had—played them over and over again in her mind when the longing to be with him got too strong—she’d never have found her way up here. Even then, it had been freak cosmic luck she’d made it in one piece because coming had been an act of sheer, unadulterated panic.

She’d had to come. Anything to prove to herself that what Frank had told her, words he’d enjoyed almost as much as his sucker punch when she’d walked into his bar, wasn’t true.

Her hands tightened on his arms around her now. Cade still didn’t know. He had no idea that Frank knew the truth about Shana’s escape. That the contract on Cade’s life had the entire band of bikers and several of his fellow officers searching high and low all over Marketta for him. That the small house he rented had already burned to cinders after an explosion that had rocked more than the ground where she stood. Watching that house burn, knowing he was supposed to be in it, her entire world shattered.

She didn’t care about Frank Carter or the cut bleeding down her side.

  Wheels of Pain didn’t exist.

The missing buyer meant less than nothing.

The only thing that mattered was making sure Cade Evigan was still alive. If he wasn’t in town, in his house, then he had to be at the cabin. That was what she told herself, again and again, racing against the road itself and anything else foolish enough to get in her way. To get to him, to find him in these dense woods, she’d followed the vague markers he’d mentioned. Two miles north of the junction. The little hill beneath the highest peak in the skyline. The sun rose right across his bedroom window, which meant it had to be on the east face of the mountain. Her heart was in her throat when she’d actually found the log home. She’d had to choke back tears at his cranky, oblivious cursing because of her desperate knock.

And when he’d actually opened the door?

She hadn’t fallen from blood loss. The relief, God, the soul-filling relief at seeing his dark scowl and that swirl of hair that fell over his forehead… There were no words. None at all.

Truly, the last thing she’d expected when she’d joined this operation was to uncover the love of her life. To find a man with more integrity than he realized. One who thought he’d lost his worth in a war he no longer understood. It meant everything to her that she’d helped him smile again. That she’d been able to lessen his loneliness, because he’d done the same for her. That and so much more.

Cade restored her faith that there were still decent people in the world. Two years undercover with Wheels of Pain had tarnished that penny almost all the way through, but he’d come along and she could breathe again. He reminded her that she was still a decent person despite the things she’d seen and done on this assignment. He was worth loving down to the bottom of her soul. Worth protecting, with her life if need be.

All she had to do now was keep him in the cabin for another twelve hours, if not more. By that time, Daniel should have gotten her message and roused the hornets’ nest. DEA agents would be flooding Marketta along with the state police, ripping the place apart. With any luck, he’d have whatever it was that Shana took, but if he didn’t, they could still arrest most of the Pain bikers for assault on a federal agent and the attempted murder of a police officer. If Cade could be safe here until all that happened, s
he’d be his seducer, his damsel in distress, his anything-he-wanted. Anything at all, so long as Frank Carter had no chance to upgrade his attempted into a confirmed.

Cade shifted, pulling her tighter against him, breathing deeply at her nape. Even asleep, he was so damn happy to have her with him. Would things have gone differently for him if she hadn’t been here when he came to Marketta? If she hadn’t given into her selfish desire for him, time and time again? He’d had opportunities to leave. To put Frank Carter and his band of rapists and killers in the rearview mirror, but he hadn’t gone. Because of her? Maybe. And now that maybe might just get him killed.

No. Not if she had anything to say about it. She might be trapped in a corner until backup arrived, but she wasn’t without resources. Wasn’t without hope. They’d both survived for a reason. They’d finally come together the way they should have from the beginning. On equal footing. Not the cop versus the convict. Not the agent with too many secrets and the man with too many regrets.

She lifted his heavy hand to her lips, pressing a determined kiss to his open palm. He wouldn’t remember that she’d done it. Wouldn’t hear her whispers as she made promises she wasn’t sure she could keep. Well, most of them anyway. Things like leaving DEA to settle down with only a few guns and a Ducati to feed her wild side if he’d let her stay with him. Offering him a family, if he was ready for one, or they could wait. Whichever. She even promised to do his laundry every now and then. So long as he didn’t expect her to put it away. But in the midst of her imaginings about a happily ever after she seriously doubted she deserved, one promise was real. One promise was a vow, never to be broken.

“I love you too, Cade. And I swear to you, I’ll kill every single one of those bastards before I let them hurt you.”

The only question left, as she finally fell into troubled sleep, was whether or not she should tell him the rest of the truth.
