  “You know what? Fuck it. I think we both know that we don’t want to be at the damn coffee shop right now.” He growled.

  “I think you’re right. How does your place sound?” I asked coyly.

  A wolfish grin appeared on his face and he drove off down the road. After driving through town it was about an hour ride to the border of our territories. The ride was quiet, yet comfortable. I could tell he was deep in thought and I have a feeling he was deep in mine as well. But that’s okay, I have nothing to hide.

  Another half-hour after driving into Iron pack territory, we made it to Iron Mountain. The land is gorgeous, just as it is at home. He turned onto his driveway and up to his large house. It was beautiful. It was a two-story log home. Nothing simple at all about it. Large glass windows throughout the whole house it looked like. From where I stood it looked like part of the living room was just a giant plate glass window. Incredible. Parking the Jeep near the garage and getting out, he came around and opened my door for me, again. Who said chivalry was dead?

  “Your home is incredible. And it sits close to the cliff of Pictured Rocks. Beautiful.” I said looking over the landscape. Completely breathtaking.

  “Yes. You are breathtaking.” He said with hooded eyes.

  “Come with me.”

  Grabbing my hand and leading me to the front porch of his house, he opened the front door and walked us in. It’s even more gorgeous on the inside. And it’s plenty spacious. Holy shit. He walked me into the kitchen where a wicker basket with a handle on it sat on the marble countertop.

  “You had this planned out, didn’t you?” I asked him quizzically.

  “It may have been plan B. I was hoping you were going to say the things that you did. I got lucky.” He winked, grabbing the basket and my hand.

  “Let's go for a walk, shall we?”

  I nodded with a smile. He then again led me out of the house and down the porch. We started walking towards a patch of woods. He kept me close. I looked around the yard and there were trails everywhere leading into the woods.

  “I take it those trails lead to pack members’ houses beyond the wooded areas?” I asked knowing I was right.

  “Yes. I have fifty pack members here. I may have mentioned to them through the pack bond that I’d have someone special here today and that I’d like the grounds to be quiet for a little bit.” He smiled gently.

  “Wow. They must really love their alpha.” I said with longing.

  “Yes, we are all family and treat everyone as such.”

  We walked through the small patch of woods and came out onto the clearing. It ended up being the cliff facing out onto Lake Superior. There are no words for this moment. The water was still, and the wind was calm. The sun was shining down on us. He dropped my hand instantly I felt empty.

  Rhett set the picnic basket down. He opened it up, pulling out a decently sized blanket and he spread it out on the ground in front of us. I kicked off my flats and sat mermaid style on the blanket. He kicked off his shoes and sat beside me. He wore a white v-neck shirt and faded blue jeans on.   He looked at me, taking in all of me. Instantly his eyes twinkled.

  We quickly got dressed and packed up the picnic stuff, even though we didn't eat any of the food. We made our way back to his house when we heard howling. Many wolves were howling. I looked at Rhett curiously.

  “I may have told my beta, Finn, that the alpha female will be joining our pack soon.” He said sheepishly.

  We made it to the porch and as I turned around, wolves and people walked out from the woods. Pumping their fists and howling. Nipping at one another and acting very playful. A blonde surfer looking guy ran up to Rhett and chest bumped him. They shook hands and laughed.

  “Congrats alpha, I couldn’t be more happy for you.” exclaimed the man,

  He turned to me and gave me a quick hug. “Welcome to the pack. It will be nice to have a fresh face around here and alpha female. I’m Finn. The pack could use a mother figure. When’s the ceremony!?” Finn asked excitedly.

  I blushed. “We have to go talk to my parents about this and then we should know more.” I said happily.

  “Baby, I have a feeling they already know.” Rhett laughed.

  “Shit, then we better get going, Rhett.” I stated and then Rhett grabbed my hand and led me to the Jeep.

  “Let's go talk to your parents, baby. And then, I’ll bring you back here. With me, where you belong.” He whispered into my temple and gave me a light kiss.

  Everything he says and does touches my heart, I can literally feel it in my veins, it is such an insane feeling to have. I hope mom and dad will be happy for me. We got in the jeep and drove back to my packhouse. As we rolled up, I noticed my family standing outside. When I say family, I mean my parents, my best friend, and the rest of our pack.

  Rhett stopped the Jeep about 10 feet from where they were all standing by the garage. He got out and came around to my door, opening it for me. My amazing man held out his hand for me to grab as I stepped out. He wrapped his arm around my shoulders, and I wrapped my arms around his waist. Together we walked up to my family and pack, with smiles plastered on our faces. Everyone watched us intently. My dad stood there with an unreadable expression. My mom, obviously beaming from ear to ear.

  “So...I’m assuming you know what I’m about to say, mom and dad. Please just tell me that you’re happy for me” I pleaded.

  My mother was practically jumping up and down. My dad stood there for a moment and just stared us down. Finally, his face broke out into a wolfish grin. He grabbed me from my mate and held me in a tight embrace.

  “I’m very happy for you sweetheart. It’s sooner than I would have liked. There’s so much more that I need to teach you about life. But in the end, your happiness matters most to me.” my dad said still holding me tightly

  “I love you, dad. I love you mom.” I said as my dad reached out for my mom and brought her into the circle.

  My dad looked at Rhett and then looked at the rest of the pack. He stood where most could see him.

  “Family! It looks like we will be planning Scarlett's mating ceremony in the coming months!

  The pack cheered and hollered. All I could think about was how happy I was. My heart was completely full. Nothing could take this away from me. Nothing.

  “Son, come with me. We have some matters to discuss. Regarding our previous conversations and my daughter’s future.” He said as he put an arm around Rhett and led him to his office in the house.

  Athena waited patiently next to my mom. They both came up to me, giving me huge hugs. The three of us went into the house and started talking about Rhett and I’s wedding. Between the three of us, I think we had just about everything planned. And of course, they don’t want to let me lift a finger to help. Between Athena, my mother, and the pack females, they’ll have everything done before I can blink. Everything was coming together nicely.

  My dad walked out of his office with Rhett following behind. Athena gave me a hug and went to her house. I was getting tired and I was ready to go back to Rhett’s to get some sleep. The alpha meeting is tomorrow and I want to make sure I get a good night’s rest.

  Rhett took large strides to get to me. I ran into his arms and wrapped my arms around his body.

  He bent down and whispered “That was the longest three-hour talk of my life. After this morning, being separated from you for even a mere couple of hours is too long.” he said sadly

  I whispered back “Don’t worry, my love. It won’t be happening again any time soon.” I stood on my tippy toes and kissed his cheek.

et, don’t you remember when we were like that when we first became mates.” my parents looked at each other longingly.

  “Okay, well, before it gets awkward, Rhett and I are going to go back to his house. I love you both, and dad I’ll be back here in the morning to help you get ready for the alpha meeting.” I said as I went to talk towards the door.

  “Okay sweetheart. Your mother and I are so proud of you. And so happy for you. I hope you know that. And Rhett, son, welcome to the family.”

  All four of us lit up with bright smiles, we all nodded and parted ways for the night.

  The next morning, I woke up to the sun, peering in through the gaps in the blinds. It took my tired body a second to be aware that I wasn’t in my own bed. I felt a heavy arm draped over my stomach. Turning my head and looking beside me, I saw a sleeping Rhett. He looked so at peace. I smiled and leaned over to give him a kiss on his soft lips. His grip around my waist tightened as he scooted me closer to his body. A smile crept upon his face.

  “Good morning, Mate.” he said drowsily.

  “By the way, you’re about to meet my sister, Hazel.” he said with one eye slowly opening to look at me.

  Before I could get a word out, the bedroom door swung up and a girl with lightning speed flew through the open door and skyrocketed to the bed. She landed on Rhett and me with a heavy thud. All of us started laughing like giddy children.

  “Hi! My name is Hazel and I’m going to be your new sister!” She squealed with excitement.

  “Hi Hazel, it’s so nice to meet you! I am looking forward to having a sister!” I said with a smile on my face.

  “Haze, can you guys start your sisterly bonding later? As happy as I am for the two of you ladies, I’d like to have morning sex with my mate. Alone. No kids.” he said groggily.

  She laughed and slapped his shoulder.

  “Fine! You don’t have to be gross. And try not to be too loud. We have company. Some of the pack are downstairs making breakfast for the alpha pair.” she said winking as she got off the bed, making her way out of the room, closing the door behind her.
