She turned her head and looked down at me. “Then what are we waiting for?”

I knew she had just given me the green light. Her lips begged to be kissed, and I was the man they wanted.

My fingers threaded into her hair, while her hands glided over my shoulders and down my chest.

  “Kiss me, Remy,” she whispered.

I vaguely heard the movie start in the background, but my attention was on Harlyn. I closed the gap between us, my lips brushing against hers. She pressed her body fully against me, and I could feel her heart beating erratically, and her breaths—short, and quick.

“More,” she begged in a whisper.

My fingers moved over her ass, palming her fullness, and I tilted her in. “There’s always more, baby.”

Her lips yielded underneath mine, taking whatever I gave her. Our tongues danced together, licking, tasting, and teasing each other.

“God dammit, Harlyn,” I gasped when we came up for air.

Her forehead was pressed against mine, and her eyes were closed. “That was good.”

I chuckled and pressed a quick kiss to her lips again. “Just good? I think I’m going to have to do better than that.” That kiss was off the fucking charts for me. I was going to have to pull out all the stops with Harlyn if she thought that was only good.

I released her butt with a squeeze and glided my hands up the small of her back, pulling her shirt up. Her soft skin felt like velvet beneath my callused fingers. “You want more, baby?”

She bit her lip and nodded. “Maybe just a little bit more,” she said coyly.

I wasn’t gentle this time. I didn’t ease into it. I took, and took, hoping she would keep up with me but too needy to wait for her.

The kiss was fierce and aggressive.

Her hands traveled over my chest, clawing her nails into me. “Remy,” she gasped against my lips.

“Keep up with me, Harlyn.” I lifted her up and shifted my body to lay down on the couch with her on top of me. I pulled her shirt up and over her head, exposing her heaving breasts.

My legs parted, and her body fell between them, pressing her core against my rock-hard dick. A few kisses from Harlyn, and my dick was ready to explode without her even touching it. This woman was a drug I was quickly becoming addicted to. My need for her coursed through my veins like racing fuel in a dragster, and even while I had her close to me, I wondered when I was going to get the next hit from her.

My fingers glided up her back, finding the clasp of her dark blue bra. “Tell me if you want me to stop, baby.”

She whimpered and shook her head. “Not yet.”

I reached up and untied her hair from the top of her head. The silky mess fell around her face, and she smiled.

“I thought you were sexy as hell when you answered the door, but now with your hair down, you’re the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.”

She laughed and shook her head. “You’ve seen me with my hair down before.”

“Yeah, but you weren’t laying on top of me then. I think that might have something to do with it.” I reached up and tucked a few strands behind her ear.

  She rolled her eyes.

“Okay, okay. It has a lot to do with it.” Not gonna lie about it. Not like I could hide the raging hard-on between us.

She squirmed on top of me, grinding her sweet core into my dick.

“Baby,” I grunted. I didn’t know how far she wanted this to go, but if she kept on the way she was, it was going to end pretty quickly.

“Just a little bit more,” she whispered.

She leaned in, trailing kisses along my collarbone and up my neck. “You need to take your shirt off.”

Seven words that were music to my ears. She sat back, and I managed to yank my shirt over my head and sail it across the living room, not caring where the hell it landed.

“Sweet hell, you have a lot of ink.” Her fingertips traveled over the tribal tattoo that covered half of my chest and my left arm.

  “Um, yeah?”

She lifted her head, and her eyes connected with mine. “I like it.”

I released a breath I didn’t even know I was holding. Not like there would have been anything for me to do if she didn’t like it, but it was good to know it didn’t turn her off.

“I have your basic tramp stamp on my back and bows on the back of my thighs,” she informed me.

Now that was something I wanted to see. She should know from the amount of ink I had on my skin that tattoos were definitely my thing. “Nothing about you is basic, baby. But I have to say, I am dying to see just what you are talking about.”

“Then I’d have to get up,” she pouted. “And I kind of like the view from where I’m sitting right now.”

I smoothed my hands over her butt. “Then stay right here. There’s always time for me to check them out another time.”

She leaned down and pressed a kiss to my chest. “Does that mean we are going to have a third date?” Her breath lingered against my skin, and a chill danced over me.

“Son of a bitch, Harlyn. Let’s just say more dates with you are inevitable.”

She looked up at me and smiled. “Good to know.”

  Chapter 17

  Harlyn

  Holy. Crap.

The sight of Remy shirtless and covered in dark black swirls of ink over half his body was almost more than I could take.

  Almost.

I managed to gather my wits about me and knew I would be an idiot if I let this moment pass by without taking full advantage of it. I swirled my tongue over his nipple, and his guttural moan surrounded me.

“Fucking hell,” he grunted. “You’re going to drive me insane if you keep that up, baby.”

I loved when he called me “baby.” Something about it made something inside me stir like I had never felt before. My eyes tipped up to see his head lifted and his eyes trained on me. They were dark and filled with lust. I was the one who had put that look there. My tongue swirled around his nipple again, and I watched his face transform as he hissed out a breath.

Again, that was all me. My touch was driving him crazy. It was only fair I did it to him, because he was doing the same to me. His fingers returned to the clasp of my bra and easily unhooked it. “Tell me if this is too much, baby.”

It should be. All of this should be too much.

But it was just right. Everything Remy was doing was what I needed and wanted.

I pressed a kiss to his chest. “I like where we are right now.” I wanted Remy, and while I was basically topless except for my loose bra, this was as far as I wanted to go. For now. “I think this is second base, right?” I giggled.

“Uh, not really into baseball, but I think you’re about right.”

“Second base is good for the second date, right?”

He ran his hands up my back. “Feels damn good to me, baby.”

I lifted one arm and let the strap of the bra drop, then did the same with the other arm. I wrapped my arm over my bare breasts and sat back on his thighs.

He rested his hands on my thighs and smiled. “Playing hard to get?”

“I can’t give it all away right away, can I?” You’re sitting topless on top of the man, Harlyn. There isn’t much mystery left of you.

He jackknifed up and wrapped his arms around my waist. I moved my arm and pressed my bare breasts against his chest. “Now that’s better.”

I wrapped my arms around his neck and buried my face against his skin. A wave of modesty traveled over me, and I suddenly realized what I was doing. It was like I had been plucked out of the moment, and I was awkwardly sitting on his lap now. “Uh.” Great timing.

  “What’s wrong, baby?”

I chewed on my lip. How do I tell the man I was sitting on half naked I just wanted to watch the movie now? I still wanted him there, but perhaps not so naked.

He brushed my hair back and lifted my head. “I’m half naked.” That was a great thing to do. Point out the
obvious.

Ugh. I was such an idiot.

  A half-naked idiot.

  “Yeah, we both are.”

I looked over shoulder at the TV. “Maybe we can watch the movie?”

He threw his head back and laughed.

I had no idea what was funny about this situation.

I had been raring and ready to go, and then I hadn’t been. I had more than figured he was going to be pissed, and I was going to land my half-naked butt on the floor with Remy leaving.

“I’m assuming you want to put our clothes on and watch the movie, right?”

I bit my lip and nodded my head.

“Putting the brakes on. I got it, baby. Just had to say stop, Harlyn.”

“I didn’t want to make you mad. I was good. So good. And then, well, I wasn’t.”

  “Did I hurt you?”

Hurt me? Was the man crazy? “Uh, not at all. I guess I’m just not ready for third base. Second base was great, though.” I held up two thumbs and smiled.

“I have to say that is the first topless thumbs-up I had ever had.”

I slapped my arm over bare breasts and smiled. “Can this get any more awkward right now?” I was dying a thousand deaths inside. He had to think I was crazy. I grabbed my bra from in between us and scrambled off him. “Be right back.” I managed to snag my shirt off the floor and dashed down the hall to the bathroom.

“What the hell was that?” I whispered to myself as I pulled on the bra and hooked it.

A knock on the door sounded, and I yelped. “Someone’s in here.” I slapped my head to my forehead. Duh, Harlyn.

His chuckle rumbled through the door. “I know, baby. I just want to make sure you’re okay.”

Gah. How could the man be so sweet and nice? I had basically just given him blue balls, and he was asking me if I was okay. I pulled my shirt on over my head and stuck my arms into each hole. “All good.” I pulled my hair from the back of my shirt and ran my fingers through it. I looked like I had just been struck by lightning. “Lord have mercy,” I mumbled.

“I’m gonna open the door, baby.”

My eyes bugged out, and before I could react, he opened the door and had me caged in with his arms against the sink. “Talk to me.”

How could I talk to him when I had no idea what the hell I was thinking? “About what?”

“Gotta admit. You are damn cute when you’re awkward.”

Well, I guess that was a compliment. Maybe. “Awkward is my thing. I think I need a shirt that says, ‘I’m here to make things awkward.’ It might help to make things less awkward.”

He shook his head slightly. “I like your awkward.”

  “You would be the first.”

  He shrugged. “Fine by me.”

I looked around. “So, are we just going to hang out in the bathroom?”

“Until you tell me what had you running away from me.”

  “I didn’t run.”

“Harlyn, you were off my lap and in the bathroom before I even knew what was going on.”

He may be right. Slightly. “I don’t know what happened. I was good, and then I wasn’t.”

“Did I do anything you didn’t want me to?”

I shook my head. “Nope. I like it. All of it. A lot.” A ton. I liked it a ton.

He brushed my hair off my shoulder and cupped my cheek with his hand. “Too fast?”

I held up my thumb and pinkie and squinted at him between the gap of the two. “Slightly. Although, I didn’t exactly let you know that.”

A chuckle fell from his lips. “I got the hint when you sprinted from the living room.”

  “Loud and clear, huh?”

“Yup, but that’s okay.” He tucked my hair behind my ear. “Let’s restart the movie.”

I nodded and bit my lip. Thank God, he didn’t think I was crazy or want to leave. “Want dessert?” As soon as the words left my lips, I knew they came out wrong. “I mean, actual food, not, well, me.” Jesus.

He grabbed my hand and tugged me out of the bathroom. “Got it, baby. You’re off the menu for right now.”

“Just for a little bit,” I mumbled. And it wasn’t even like I was completely off the menu. I was totally up for a little nibbling now and then. Did I really just think that?

“You need help getting dessert?” he asked.

“Uh, I just have ice cream. I think I can handle that.” He let go of my hand, and I shuffled into the kitchen. “Restart the movie, and I’ll be right in.” I grabbed the pint of ice cream I had picked up the last time I was at the store and two spoons from the drawer. Ice cream was a good consolation for not having sex, right? Ugh, who was I kidding. I didn’t even really get why we were having ice cream and not sex. Because Remy is different.

Humph. That was the truth. I was comfortable with him. I didn’t feel like I had to impress him. My awkwardness was on display with him.

  With him, I was me.

Something I had never been able to do with anyone before. I always wanted to impress people and give them the things they expected from me. With Remy, he was just happy being in the same room as me. I didn’t want to mess that up. Although, five minutes ago, I had come pretty damn close to doing just that.

I wanted more time with Remy. I wanted it to be about more than sex.

“You coming, baby?” he called from the living room.

I slid the drawer shut and grabbed another bottle of beer from the fridge on the way to the couch. “Yup.” I plopped down on the couch next to him, and he draped his arm over my shoulders. I handed him a spoon and smiled. “Hi.”

He shook his head and smirked. “Hey.”

I sighed and pried the lid off the ice cream. “I like being here,” I said without thinking.

  “On the couch?”

I elbowed him in the side. “With you.”

He dug his spoon in to the ice cream and looked down at me. “I like it too, baby.”

  Chapter 18

  Remy

  “You get your check stub?”

I shook my head. “Nah. Normally Marion drops it on my bench, but it wasn’t there this morning.”

“You didn’t hear? She had the baby last night.” Frankie shoved her check stub under my nose. “You gotta go get it from the new chick.”

I could count on one hand the amount of times I had stepped foot in the offices. “I’ll grab it on my lunch break.”

Frankie shook her head. “You should probably go get it now.”

I looked up from the cylinder head I was wrenching on. “Why?”

She shrugged. “Just something you might want to see up there.”

“Way to be cryptic, Frank.” I pulled the towel from my back pocket and wiped my hands.

“Holy hell. Have you guys seen the new office chick? She is hot as hell.” Jay walked up to Frankie and me with his check stub in his hand.

“So a hot office chick is what you want me to see up front?” I asked Frankie.

She shrugged again. “Just looking out for you.”

I shook my head. “Not interested.” The only thing I was interested in was Harlyn.

Last night, after she had given me the worst case of blue balls ever, we settled in with the ice cream and watched the movie. While I wished we had been doing other things, I was good just being there with her. She had fallen asleep on my shoulder halfway through the movie and hadn’t budged until I reached for the controller to turn off the Xbox.

She sleepily walked me to the door and had let me kiss her senseless. By the time I left, Harlyn was wide awake, and while I could tell she didn’t want me to stop kissing her, I knew I had to take it slow with her.

“Just grab your check stub, man, and sneak a peek at the new girl. I guarantee, you will not be disappointed.” Jay smirked and wiggled his eyebrows. “She will be mine.”

I tossed my rag at him. “She’s all yours, brother. I got my own chick.”

I made my way to the other side of the garage and pushed open
the door that separated it from the offices. Up front, Brooks and Roc had their own offices, and Marion had the front desk where she took care of paperwork and a bunch of other shit that had nothing to do with me.

My eyes landed on the back of the chick who had taken Marion’s place, and even from the back, I could tell Jay was right.

“Hey, I was told to come up and get my check stub.”

The woman jumped at the sound of my voice and whirled around. “Remy?”

I was face to face with Harlyn, and my jaw hit the floor.

  Holy fuck.

  Harlyn

“What are you doing here?” we said in unison.

I had been working on figuring out the filing system Marion had, when the shop door had opened. I had figured it was Roc coming in to grumble about something and head into his office. I was wrong. Way wrong.

Remy stood in front of me, wearing gray overalls that were half on with the arms tied around his waist with a white shirt underneath. His hands were dirty with grease, and he had a smudge of dirt on his cheek.

Crap. Remy worked for Cummings Racing.

“Harlyn?” he grunted. “What the hell is going on? What are you doing?”

I pointed lamely over my shoulder at the filing cabinet I had been searching through. “Uh, just doing a bit of filing.”

  “Here?”

I couldn’t help but laugh. “Yeah, last I checked, this was where I work.”

A grin started to spread across his lips, then quickly turned into a frown. “Wait, you said you work for your dad.”

I nodded. “Well, technically, I work for Brooks. He is the one who signs all of the checks.”

All color drained from his face. “I’m praying your dad is anyone but Roc Krinston.”

“I sometimes wish for the same thing, but last I checked, it was his name on my birth certificate.” I could understand his shock about seeing me here, but he was acting a little too concerned about the fact we both worked for Cummings Racing. From where I stood, I liked it. Now I could just walk ten feet out into the shop and see him when the team wasn’t traveling. Although, it still was a bit of a shock. Here, I had been thinking of Remy while mindlessly going over the filing.
