As she thought this she thought about something else that had just happened. After multiple requests and denials Malick had finally agreed to talk to her. Though talking might be a stretch with how his face was now. She didn’t know why he’d agreed now but she was going to take it. He was a direct link to Spalding and she had to find out how and why. She hadn’t told Tyler about this meeting and now briefly thought about it. She heard him say goodbye on the phone and she decided it was something he didn't need to know.
Tyler came back into the room and she smiled at him as he handed her the fresh beer.
“Now, where were we before all of this?” he asked.
“Downstairs,” she laughed,
“No, before this Gingerbread Man thing,” Tyler smiled back at her, “I think we were talking about ‘The Birdwatcher?” he said.
“I guess that’s the next one,” Sarah agreed. It seemed endless but she felt there would be a final moment of it all, a moment when Dwight Spalding no longer posed a threat to her life, or that of anyone else.
“I’ll catch him too,” Sarah said.
“The Birdwatcher?” Tyler asked. Sarah nodded,
“Yeah, we know he exists now. That's the first step to catching him.”
