Reading my thoughts, he began heading towards my room. As much as I loved what he was doing to me in the middle of the living room, I wanted to feel him deep inside me. Placing me gently on my unmade bed, I watched with anticipation as he began removing his clothes. If he didn’t hurry, I would be ripping them off of him. I got this feeling that he was teasing me, playing with my self-control. When he finally came towards me, I pulled him to my body like he was my life-line.
I wasn’t sure what was going on with me, but my control was not my own. Taming my hunger, Chavez took hold of my hands and placed them above my head to keep from clawing at him. I wanted to kick him to set me free. “Baby, slow and easy,” he whispered. “Slow and easy.”
His voice was calming me and this uncontrollable need to take him began to ease. I took a deep breath to ease my racing heart and began concentrating on the beating of my heart. Chavez’s lips fell on mine and once again, my control was tested. The touch of his hand on my body, slowly moving down inch by seductive inch, caused my body to jolt with pleasure. Breaking the assault on my mouth, he lowered his mouth down my neck until he reached my breast, tantalizing the bud with his tongue, causing the nipple swell to the fullest. While he was doing his magic on my breast with his tongue, his free hand seared a path down my abdomen to my thigh where I knew he would find me wet with desire.
His touch was light as he teased my body with his hand. The moment he dipped his finger inside my warmth, his movement became more demanding. He was ready to dominate me and I was ready to accept. As he spread my legs wider with his knees, I opened up for him, giving him the access that he needed. With an unexpected thrust, he added another finger, curling it in such a way that he found the sweet spot that would put me over the edge. My will to hold back was gone and my body exploded with such an intense orgasm that I could feel my core quiver with satisfaction.
Before I could take a moment to recover from my release, Chavez filled my channel with his impressive cock. Bracing his body above mine, my hands were finally free to explore his gorgeous body. As he slowly pumped inside me, the more I wanted him. Taking hold of his firm ass, I gripped it firmly, willing him to increase his movements. Just when I was feeling like I was finally in control of his movements, he pulled out of me. When I stared at him with a confused look, he backed away and hunched on his knees, positioning himself between my legs. In a commanding voiced he warned, “You need to learn how to control your body, baby.”
Just like that, I was flipped over, staring at the dark headboard with my ass high in the air. Before I could argue with him about my lack of control, he was deep inside me, satisfying my hunger to have more. With every thrust, my control weakened. Biting my lip as I clutched the pillow with my hands, I was finally able to release when I heard his command, “Okay, baby. Take me home.”
CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE
Chavez
Sitting on Gabrielle’s bed eating pizza wasn’t what I expected to be doing after the mind-blowing orgasm I just had, but when she blurted out that she was hungry for pizza, I didn’t argue with her. I had never seen her so laid back. Matter of fact, I didn’t even think she knew the meaning of the word. Wiping off a dab of sauce from the corner of her mouth, I figured this was the best time to confront her about what happened today and what she hoped to accomplish by leaving the hospital.
“You know,” I swallowed the bite I had in my mouth before continuing. “You aren’t getting off so easy by not telling me why you left the hospital.”
“What did you expect after what you told me? I needed to do something and being in that hospital wasn’t going to allow me to do that.” she stated, dropping her half-eaten piece of pizza in the box. “How about something to drink?”
As she rose from the bed and walked to the door, I yelled to her back, “We aren’t done, Gabby.”
More than wanting to know why she left, I wanted to know what she had planned. There was no way I was going to let her handle this alone. I was never going to let her out of my sight. Slipping on my jeans, I shoved my cell in my back pocket, grabbed the pizza box, and headed to the kitchen where I knew she would be. Seeing her standing there, more beautiful than an angel from heaven, I set the box on the counter and walked up behind her. Moving her hair to the side, I kissed the area behind her ear and whispered sincerely, “God, you’re beautiful.”
Turning to face me, she smiled and handed me a glass of wine. All I wanted was to take her. Taking a quick sip, I placed it on the counter as I reached for her. Having a glass of wine was the least of my desires and all I could think about was tasting every inch of her. Just when I thought I would get my wish, my cell began to vibrate in my pocket. I wanted to let it go to voice mail, but the soft hum of Gabrielle’s voice sounded, “You better get that, it could be important.”
Pulling my phone from my pocket, I answered the call, neglecting to look at the screen. “This better be important.”
“Oh, trust me, it is of great importance.” The minute I heard his voice, I knew it was Elliott Crawford. I wished I had a trace on this call. He had escaped from the Gateway facility with no trace.
“What do you what, Crawford?” I hissed as I looked at Gabrielle.
“What I have always wanted: Gabrielle,” he advised.
“What makes you think I would let Gabrielle be anywhere near you?” I questioned, thinking this guy must have lost his marbles.
“I think you better rethink that,” Elliott cautioned before continuing. “The way I see it, you really have no choice, that is, unless you want people to drop like flies.” The phone went silent before he continued. “Be prepared, Chavez. If I don’t hear back from you within the hour… well, let’s just say, the outcome will be on your head.”
I had no idea what the hell his game was, but there was no way I was going to play along. Switching my focus to Gabrielle, I ordered, “Get dressed, we need to get to the shop.”

To save time, I contacted Peter the minute I hung up with that low-life dirtbag to let him know what was going on. I knew he would be spending the day with his wife, Lilly, and wouldn’t be at the shop. When I explained to him about Crawford’s call, he wasn’t happy about changing his plans and spending his weekend dealing with this shit. We all knew that Elliott was still out there, but thought for sure that he was going to lay low since he basically violated the terms of his bond. We all decided to wait until either he turned himself in, which was never going to happen, or we heard from the FBI as to what their next move was.
When we stepped through the door, I could tell by the expression on the team’s faces that they were disappointed that their weekend of relaxation was going to come to an end before it started. Feeling like I needed to apologize, I took in their reaction. “Look, guys, I am really sorry about this, but we have less than an hour to come up with a plan.”
“We got this, Chavez. Make the call on where he wants to meet and we will hand Gabrielle over to him,” Peter responded.
“Wait, what? I can’t just let you hand her over to him.” I argued.
“We aren’t going to do that. Not exactly,” Peter responded.
“Stop!” Gabrielle’s protest rang. “You guys are not making this decision for me. I am a well-trained FBI agent and more than capable of taking care of myself. It isn’t up for discussion. We need to focus on putting a plan in place to get this guy.” She was right, but what she had in mind wasn’t going to fly with me.
With five minutes to spare, I made the call. We agreed the best place to make the exchange was where there would be a lot of people. We decided on the Metropolitan Museum of Art. We had about thirty minutes to iron out our plan before we needed to put it into action. As we went over the details, we all agreed to use Nikki as the pigeon. It was astounding how much Nikki and Gabrielle looked alike. They could have been sisters.
Gabrielle and I went ahead to the museum with Sly and Nikki close behind us. Nikki and Sly would enter the museum while Gabrielle and I hung back out
of sight in the hopes that Elliott would already be there. Once Elliott was a safe distance away, not giving away that it was Nikki waiting for him instead of Gabrielle, we would approach him to throw him off guard. If he had his goons lurking around, the other guys would be there to detain their efforts to close in.
As we waited for the plan to go down, it felt like dèjá vu. It seemed only yesterday we were in this situation. The only difference was that Kataryna had been involved. Watching for Elliott to appear, I saw him step through the set of doors. Seeing him made my blood begin to boil. I wanted to take him down right then. As soon as Nikki and Sly got close enough, I knew it was our cue. Approaching him from behind, there was one thing we didn’t count on. His eyesight was a lot better than we initially thought. He knew immediately that Nikki wasn’t Gabrielle and just like that he was gone hidden among the crowd before we got close enough. This couldn’t be happening. Someone had to have tipped him off.
Walking up to Nikki and Sly, I scanned their faces, and said, “What the hell? How in the fuck did he know you weren’t Gabrielle?”
“Simmer down, Chavez. There was no way to have known that he had eyes on us the minute we arrived. He had an earpiece on and someone was feeding him information. We should have backed off and let you guys come forward, but it was too late. He got wind even before he saw you two,” Sly explained.
Ready to put my two cents in, my phone began to vibrate. Removing it from my back pocket, I knew it was Crawford. “We are going to get you,” I promise.
“You should have listened to me. Now your ignorance will cost you.” His voice was cold, with no regard for others.
I was just about to tell him where he could stick it when a loud boom sounded outside the museum. As we all rushed out the doors to see what happened, a small deli across the way was engulfed in flames. Two people came crawling out the front door, while another was holding a woman in his arms. “Fuck, shit,” I hissed as I ran towards the inferno. That son-of-a-bitch was going to pay for this. Holding my phone to my ear, I dialed 911 and watched the fire consume the small business.
Trying to get to the building with all the commotion, my phone vibrated as I held it in my hand. Putting it to my ear, I heard the warning. “Maybe next time you won’t be so stupid.”
CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO
Gabrielle
When I heard the explosion, I felt my heart sink into my stomach. The minute I saw people escaping the fire, I knew this was the work of Elliott Crawford. I could have stopped it from happening if I just went to him. I should have been more convincing and never allowed Chavez to talk me into this plan. When Chavez received his last warning, there was no way I was going to risk this happening again.
Looking over to Chavez, I could see that this explosion was having an affect on him as he struggled to hold back his emotions while helping a woman exit the burning inferno. I had enough. This was never going to happen again, and the only way it was going to stop was by doing what I should have done thirty minutes ago. It may have been a cheap shot, but I knew that Chavez would never leave a victim in need to go after me.
Raising my voice an octave so he could hear me over the screaming, I made my decision clear. “I need to do something that I should have done before all of this happened. It’s the only way to end this.”
“If you are planning on doing what I think you are, there is no way I am going to let you do it,” Chavez voiced as he settled the woman on the sidewalk.
“I need to do this, Chavez. Please don’t stop me.”
“No way, no how.”
I tried to get away from him, but I failed. I thought for sure that he would have chosen the injured woman over me, and technically he did, by yelling for Sly to assist the woman. When I began walking away, he pulled me into his arms and held me like he was never going to see me again. Kissing the top of my head, his voice cracked into a whisper, “I can’t ever let you go baby. Don’t you get it? I’m in love with you.”
~****~
After the F.D.N.Y. showed up to put the fire out and everyone was safely out of the burning building, the only thing left to do was to figure out how we were going to get Crawford before anyone else got hurt. I knew whatever we decided, I had to be handed over to him. It was the only way. We had no idea what his next move would be or where.
As we headed to FBI headquarters, I had a lot of time to think about what the next move would be. Elliott Crawford needed to believe that he was home free once I was in his control. If we could catch him at his weakest moment, maybe we could nab him when he wasn’t expecting it. I just needed to figure out how we were going to do that without letting him know what was going on. I was pretty confident that with all of us, we could figure out a plan better than the last one. With my head going a mile a minute, Chavez must have noticed my leg bouncing up and down. His hand fell on my knee, stopping my movements. This nervous habit was something I did when I was trying to work out a situation.
“What are you thinking, baby? Your mind must be running a marathon,” he inquired.
“There has to be a way that Crawford can have me and we can catch him. I am just trying to figure out a way to do that before another person gets hurt.”
“The only way to do that, baby, is to outsmart him. Haven’t you noticed, he is always one step ahead of us?” Chavez made me think about what he said. He was right, it did seem like Crawford was always one step ahead of us.
As we headed inside the FBI conference room, there was nothing more important to me than seeing Crawford behind bars once and for all. Since the Gateway situation was taken care of and most of the facility had been arrested, including the doctor who was going to perform the surgery on my face, my focus was now on this man. More than putting him behind bars, I wanted to know the truth about everything. I wanted to know what his interest was with me. What was his connection to my father? And more importantly, what was his connection was to my mother?
Everyone had their own idea of how the plan should go and even though, for the most part, they were pretty good plans, they had a ‘what if’ attached to them. Having ‘what if’s’ wasn’t an option this late in the game. We needed to come up with an airtight plan that wouldn’t blow up in the end.
I wasn’t sure where it came from, but I had an idea. I grabbed a notebook sitting on the large table and began working out the plan that was going on in my head. I wrote down what I had in mind and everything that could go wrong with it. Just when I thought I had the perfect plan and shared it with the guys, Chavez brought up a ‘what if’ I didn’t account for.
“Gabrielle, the plan, although good, has one problem. What if he kills you?”
~****~
My head hurt by the time we called it quits. We were no closer to a plan than when we all met. My plan did have a loop hole and there was a possibility I would be killed, but I felt that it was the best plan presented. I just needed to figure out a way that I wouldn’t die.
Feeling completely drained, I requested that Chavez take me to the hotel instead of taking me to his place. Not only did I need to think about this Crawford thing, but I also needed to think about what he said to me back at the fire.
As he pulled next to my car in the parking garage, I questioned why he just didn’t drop me off in front. When he leaned over the console, and kissed me on the lips, his intentions were very clear, but mine were not the same. Pushing him away before this became anything more, I looked at him with a pinched brow and said softly, “I better go.”
The look on his face showed that he was confused by my comment. Further explaining myself, I placed my hand on his cheek, hoping that he would understand. “I need to think and with you around, I can’t do that.”
“Gabrielle, you can think all you want, but there is no way in hell that I am going to let you out of my sight.” His expression hardened as he turned to open his door.
I guessed he did have a point. It was better if he stayed close by. We weren’t sure what Crawford had up his sleeve and being
alone would be risky. Opening the door, I decided to go with it instead of arguing with him. When he held out his hand to help me out, I gave him a warm smile. “Okay, you can stay.”
As we walked to the elevator a tingling sensation began to surface in my core. Even though we were only holding hands, the simple touch was doing all kinds of things to my body. This was the one thing I wanted to avoid. So many thoughts were going through my mind; it was unlike anything I had ever felt before. With an overwhelming sense of relief, I realized maybe this wall was finally coming down and I could fall in love. Chavez was an amazing man and I knew that he would be there for me no matter what. Feeling my chest tighten, I pushed the stop button on the elevator panel, which caused the car to jolt. Chavez had his eyes on mine wondering what was going on with me.
“Did you really mean what you said?” I asked hesitantly.
