Sean placed his hand on Lashawnda’s rounded abdomen. It was the home of his new baby girl for the next two-and-a-half months. The place he’d spent many nights talking to—just like he had done with his other four children.

“I think it might be a good idea to grow these hedges a few more feet,” he suggested.

Lashawnda looked up into Sean’s green eyes and saw the concern of an overprotective father. She raised her lips to him, and he gave her a quick peck.

“I doubt that would help. Come on, let’s get dinner started,” she replied pulling him in the house. “Boys come in and wash up for dinner,” she yelled.

She turned toward the stairs and almost tripped on Phillips skateboard, but Sean was there just in time to steady her. He knew he had to be extra vigilant with her when she was pregnant with his children. The ease in which she found herself falling, tripping, or stumbling into things never ceased to surprise him.

“Phillip, stop leaving your toys lying around. You know the rules: if you can’t find a place to put it, then it goes in the trash,” Sean scolded his oldest son in a stern voice.

Sean was the more indulgent parent, but the kids knew when Dad spoke, there was no arguing back.

“Sorry, Dad,” Phillip said grabbing his skateboard. “Ma, you’re so unlucky; you’re always falling over stuff.”

“Not at all… Just a little clumsy.” Lashawnda ruffled his curly black hair when he walked by. He quickly brushed it back into place with his hands. Her smile widened as his siblings laughed at his show of displeasure.

“I’m the luckiest person alive,” she said proudly.

Sean looked down into eyes, shining with the cheerful happiness, of a woman well-loved. He knew he had done well in removing the uncertainty they had once shown. His heart warmed at the sight of his four beautiful children and his gorgeous wife’s rounded belly that carried his fifth. No man could ever understand how much moments like these meant to him.

“Not as lucky as I am,” he said placing a gentle kiss on Lashawnda’s upturned lips while rubbing circles on her rounded belly.

“Eww!” The kids all screamed in unison.

Greyson pretended as if he was gagging. Ella rolled her eyes in embarrassment. Philip twitched as if a slimy bug crawled down his throat. Little Nate wrinkled his nose in disgust. In their eyes, the fact their old mom and dad couldn’t keep their hands off each other was just plain gross.

  The End…for now

  ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I’ve been writing and creating for so long that I don’t remember the first story I wrote. However, I do remember the first time I was brave enough to share (can I just say that I had a full-blown panic attack and had to lie down). My first story Reciprocity was shared publicly on a writing blog. I got some great feedback from authors that I’d been following on that same blog and it blew me over the moon. My second story was Over the Hedge, a romantic comedy that spawned an entire world of characters that so many readers fell in love with.

But before writing I was (and still am) an avid reader. I love it so much that I started doing it at the age of two. My favorite genres are historical romances, urban fictions, and sci-fi romances. I am also a huge movie buff. I prefer to go to the theaters on a weekday during matinee hours so that I can enjoy the full cinematic experience by myself. As a born Jamaican I know good cooking and I love good food! On the weekends you can find me trying out new eateries.

Writing has truly become not just a passion, but a purpose in my life. Hopefully, all of the stories I have buzzing around in my head will make it out ok on paper.

Thanks again for joining me on this literary journey
