The seduction in my blood leads me to my mate, but will it help me open my fragile heart?

  * * *

Being a private secretary to one of the few billionaires in NYC was an interesting experience. Not only did I get the chance to discover the soft side of my boss, Liam Smith, I fell in love with his compassionate self. Everything seemed like it was finally running smoothly. The only problem was meeting his brother.

  * * *

Vampires and werewolves never liked to play on the same court, and even with my powers of seduction, this is a task even I, Anastasia of Last Resort, might not be able to handle.

Too bad I don't have a choice, having to take the job to assist Liam's brother in whatever jam he's in. The benefit? Getting to be with Liam, dragging Alexander along, and of course, my little pet Pix sneaking into yet another bag of mine. I guess he didn't want to miss the action that was about to transpire.

I'm stuck in the middle of a battle between races, and my very existence may be at risk if I can't get my team of testosterone to work together. If I fail, we die. If I succeed, we still might die, but at least I'd be able to get someone to water my cacti.

  * * *

Will I be able to seduce my way out of this? Or will the seduction in my blood turn sour?

"Huh? Who is that?" I wondered, moving out of Liam's embrace to open the door.

"Sia, wait-" Liam began, but I ignored him and opened the door, meeting a pair of golden eyes. I blinked, slowly looking back at Liam and then again to the stranger before me.

"Liam?" I pointed to the newcomer who appeared identical to Liam, the only differences being his golden eyes and the strong scent of a werewolf coming from him.

"Two questions, brother.” The stranger spoke up. “Why are you in my office and who's the hot chick in front of me?" His hard voice held not even a hint of empathy as he glared at us.

I glanced between the two men, over and over, unsure how to answer as I stood there, completely speechless.

I went from being just a temporary private secretary to having two pet cacti, Pix who loved to sneak into my bags, my best friend who I still didn't know if he would ever want to become more than friends, and even finding my mate.

Who knew he'd have an identical twin?

He stood at the exact same height as Liam at 6'6" and his golden eyes were dazzling, though I wanted to wiggle my nose at the werewolf scent that permeated the air. I was curious if his eyes would shift back to hazelnut, depending on if he calmed down.

He had short, jet black hair in the same style as Liam’s. The difference between the two was the way they wore their hair. Liam’s swept to the left while the new guy’s flipped to the right.

He wore a white dress shirt that fitted his bulky, chiseled body, and I wondered if they went to the same gym to work on those amazing biceps.

Oh, he must have a perky butt. Can't be a twin and not have the same ass. I feel this is like déjà vu all over again, but he actually looks like he's going to incinerate this whole place with that glare of his. At least he's still sexy, even if he's upset as hell.

"First off, I'm in your office because you are the most irresponsible sibling I could ever have, and you left YOUR business for me to run while you were most likely enjoying nature's finest air. The hot chick in front of you is Sia, and she's my private secretary AND girlfriend," Liam declared.

I wouldn't deny that I was a little sidetracked from our current dilemma by his admission of us officially dating. I wonder if I'll get used to him calling me his girlfriend? Especially with that sexy voice of...wait! Must concentrate!

I looked back at second Liam, or whoever he was, and he raised an eyebrow at me as his gaze traveled down my body and back up again.

"Girlfriend? I leave you for what? Less than two months and you have a secretary who's now your girlfriend? I'm actually impressed the place hasn't burned down. And where the hell are Lilith and Annie? Did you replace my sofa?"

"It was ugly. Have you ever slept on that thing? I needed a massage every time I sat on it, let alone lay on it," Liam huffed.

Liam's twin groaned as he walked into the office. I closed the door and took a moment to study the two of them. Holy hotness. I thought having Liam was enough, but this dual action would be fun in the bedr- Oh, no, no, no, Anastasia. You can't THINK of dating this guy...I mean twin.

"What is a cactus doing on my desk?"

"You need more green in your life," Liam replied.

  "Green shit with thorns?"

"Apparently, it's really good to shove up someone's ass when you're pissed. Could be good therapy for your anger." Liam quirked his lips and his eyes landed on me.

I held back a giggle, trying to remain professional, but this was amusing to watch.

  "Meow."

Pix walked around with my fuzzy keychain still in his mouth. Liam's twin glared at Pix. "You did not bring a cat into my office."

"Actually, he hid in Anastasia's purse and we didn't find out until after we got here." Liam spoke calmly.

Pix stared at Liam's twin for a moment before he moved to jump onto his desk. He made his way to one of the expensive vases that were ordered a few weeks back to decorate the patio corner section near the tables.

He lifted his paw intending to knock it over and we all froze.

"Pix!" I called out. His blue eyes met mine, and I smiled.

"Can you not knock over the vase? Please? For your favorite person?" I cooed. He blinked a few times, looking at Liam and his twin who seemed frightened that he was about to damage the expensive piece.

"Meow," Pix replied, lowering his paw. He jumped off the desk and ran to my feet, glancing up to give me an excited expression.

"Good boy," I praised, kneeling down to pick him up. "I'll give you some cat wine when we get home."

"Meow." Pix purred and rubbed his head against my cheek.

Liam and his twin sighed. "This is why we don't need a cat. I can't believe you let your girlf
riend bring a cat."

"Actually, that's Alexander's cat. He prefers to follow Sia around," Liam corrected.

"Why does Alexander have a cat? He doesn't even...you know what? I'm not even going to ask. And is she Anastasia or Sia?"

I sighed, lifting Pix to sit on my shoulder for a moment as I clapped my hands twice. This isn't going anywhere, and we don't have time for this.

Both turned to look at me, and I crossed my arms. "Alright, Liam and Evil Liam. We just wasted six minutes which means we have four minutes to get to Evil Liam's meeting. Now which one of you is going? Also, Evil Liam, my name is Anastasia Hollister. I was hired as a private secretary to cover Lesley Frank who had a family emergency."

"Meow," Pix stated. I reached out to pet him.

"And this is Pix. He's not Alexander's cat. He's very independent. Wait, you know Alexander?" I asked, my brain still playing catch up.

"Why am I called Evil Liam?"

"That's a good question. How do you know Alexander? " Liam pointed out. His twin rolled his eyes and groaned.

"Why did you let Lesley take a vacation? She's lucky I haven't fired her yet."

I clapped my hands again, getting the twins’ attention once more. Man, I have to get used to seeing double.

"Three minutes! Who's going to this meeting with me?! Also, I called you Evil Liam because you didn't introduce yourself and between the two of you, I feel you'd be more of the troublemaker," I declared, pointing at Evil Liam who frowned.

Liam snickered. "My girlfriend is good at judging someone’s character with one look."

"Fuck you, Liam," Evil Liam replied.

  "Introduction?" I prompted.

"Brian Smith. Age 26, billionaire. Now can you stop calling me Evil Liam?" Brian grumbled.

"Not with that attitude, Evil Liam." I raised an eyebrow at him. He grimaced and huffed.

  "I'm your boss, you know."

"Actually, Liam's my boss at the moment seeing as you were away, or whatever the reasoning was. Now, either one of you comes with me to this meeting in TWO minutes, or I'll force both of you to come."

They gawked at me before turning to face one another.

"You can go," they said in unison and both groaned.

"Meow?" Pix tilted his head, and I sighed, pinching my nose with my index finger and thumb.

"Liam, let's go. Brian, stay." There was no time for fucking shit up with this meeting which I could guarantee we'd be late for. At least with Liam, I'd studied him enough and we worked well together with the last couple of meetings.

With Brian, even if he was a split copy of Liam, I could tell right away he'd need a little more work.

"Why does Liam get to go? It's MY business meeting."

Liam rolled his eyes. "Last time I checked, your ass was supposed to be away for another month and a bit."

  "Plans changed," Brian huffed.

"That's my fault because?" Liam canted his head to the side.

"I didn't say it was your fault," Brian countered.

"You don't need to say it with your lips. I know you're blaming me somehow," Liam argued.

"Meow." Pix lifted his paw to rub at his face. I bit my lip as I tried to keep my cool, but my irritation level was rising. Just be patient, Sia. Patience...Pati-

"Well, obviously. I leave my office for you to deal with shit, and I come back with a new secretary, a new couch, a random cat who wants to break shit, and there's a fucking cactus on my desk. No, not even one cactus. TWO of them?!" Brian snapped. He headed over to his desk, and it looked like he was about to push Rin and Saturn off the top.

  "Freeze."

Brian froze right in place, his facial expression showing just how shocked he was. Liam slowly looked at my cold expression, and I could see his Adam's apple move up and down as he gulped.

"Liam. Meeting. Pix. Stay and make sure Brian thinks about what he was about to do," I declared in an authoritative voice.

"Meow!" Pix replied. He jumped off my shoulder to the floor and ran over to the desk. Once he hopped onto the desk, he sat in front of Rin and Saturn. Pix’s tail wagged from side to side as he stared up at Brian who remained frozen in place.

"Let's go," I ordered as I made my way over to grab my phone, notebook, and planner for the meeting. Brian glared at me, and I knew he wanted to say something, anything, but he couldn't because of my order.

"Sia Babe. What about Brian?" Liam asked hesitantly as he walked up to me.

"He can stay like that." I gestured for Liam to exit the office. He didn't hesitate in moving swiftly out the door, and I peered at Brian's shocked expression.

"The meeting will conclude in three and a half hours, Evil Liam. Have fun thinking about what you did."

I was going to leave, but I remembered one more thing. Glancing over my shoulder, I gave Brian the sweetest grin.

"And by the way... Annie is most likely lost in some sort of transportation delay, and Lilith called in sick. Forgot to mention that. Have fun admiring my cacti and Pix."

I give him a wink and blew him a kiss before I turned around and shut the door. It wasn't until the gold elevator doors closed before Liam spoke.

"Remind me not to piss you off," he whispered as he fixed the tie of his dress shirt. I smirked, moved to stand in front of him, and reached up to fix his tie.

"You have a lot of explaining to do, mister."

"As long as you don't freeze me with your power. Well...unless it's for other purposes," he said suggestively. My smirk turned into a seductive smile as I pulled him down for a slow, sensual kiss.

"I'll try my best to be forgiving," I murmured.

  "Sorry for not saying anything."

“I never said I was angry," I pointed out.

"Yes, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't apologize before our meeting. I just want you to know I'm sorry. We’ll talk about this when we have alone time so I can explain everything." He pressed his forehead against mine.

"Polar opposite of your twin," I mumbled.

"You're not the only one who has said that," he admitted.

  "I forgive you."

He looked shocked by my sudden words of forgiveness. "But...I haven't explained everything."

I shrugged. "I know the difference between someone who deliberately lies for the sake of saving their own ass, and someone who keeps secrets because they have no choice. Brian is family, and I assume you took over for him for a good reason. You already assured me you'll explain, so no need for me to be upset. Just a waste of energy."

"I'm so lucky to be dating you," he said softly and sealed my lips with his. I smiled, pressing my lips firmly on his before I pulled away and finished with his tie.

We both turned to face the elevator doors, making sure we looked presentable for when we reached the first floor.

"I'm just curious about one thing."

  "What?"

"Identical twins, but a werewolf and a vampire?" I asked, turning my head to meet his red eyes that shifted back to their hazelnut appearance. He had a playful smirk on his smooth lips and he shrugged.

  "It's complicated."

"Figured. Guess we'll leave that for a bar date."

  "Deal," he whispered.

"That went longer than I expected." I sighed, really wishing for a nap.

The meeting that was supposed to be three hours ended up lasting five because one of the investors wasn't pleased with the idea of having to pay 15% more because of his company’s previous mishaps.

Liam was being patient and trying to give him the better option, but he wasn't having it. By the time my hunger kicked in, so did my annoyed attitude, and I couldn't handle his childish behavior anymore.

After bringing up his company’s ten mishaps and shortcomings in estimated sales and how we should be asking for 25%, I decided to increase the payment to 20% or he could walk out of the deal entirely.

Maybe the older men were patient, but as a businesswoman who was in real need of a nice lunch, I had no time for petty whining. After his
pitiful concession, the meeting ended and we headed back to the office.

I felt bad for Brian now that we'd left him standing with his hand in striking position for five hours, but I figured he deserved it. No one plays around with my cacti.

"Terrance is a whining bitch. His company has done nothing but complain all year. I'm surprised they haven't gone bankrupt yet," Liam pointed out.

"Well, he better bark at someone else. I can't stand his ongoing complaints, and I'm starving. I bet Pix is hungry too."

The elevator came to a stop and a ding reverberated off the walls as the doors opened. We stepped out, Liam's hand in mine as we headed towards the desk.

"Annie still isn't here?" Liam frowned and appeared a bit irritated.

"Is anyone going to explain what her deal is? I get she's clumsy and basically sucks at getting to work, but let's be real. The building doesn't move its spot every day." I raised an eyebrow and shook my head.

"She's Brian's employee. Not mine. Think she's only working for him because our Mom feels bad. She's not good at a lot of things," Liam admitted.

"I've noticed. If she breaks one mor-"

  *CRASH*

  "MEOWWW!!!"

"AAHHH! A kitty?! Brian, why is there a kitty here?!"

Liam and I exchanged glances and sighed. "I'm going to need an aspirin when this day is over," I grumbled.

"You and me both," Liam replied. We swiftly made our way back to our office, or well, Brian's office, and walked into the room to see Annie picking up the broken pieces of the vase and Pix all the way on the sofa hissing.
