“I’m not asking,” Wick said, looking back and forth between them. “I’m begging. I need to protect Abbott but I’ve got to find Billy Walker in order to do that.”

  “Of course,” she said.

  Kix frowned. “Piper—”

“No,” she said, holding up her finger. “Wick took me in when I needed help so for that alone, not to mention the fact he’s family, we will repay him. I will repay him, even if I have to owe Jeff a favor to do it. Understood?”

Kix held up his hands in surrender before turning back to Wick. “I take it Abbott doesn’t have a phone.”

  Wick shook his head.

Kix picked up the phone and punched in a number. “It’s me. I need a phone and your help in locating a man by the name of Billy Walker. From Stevens. Yeah. Okay, thanks.”

He hung up and looked at Wick. “That was Mac, my tech guy. He’s going to give you one of our special phones. The GPS has an independent power source from the phone battery so it can emit a signal for about seventy-two hours once it’s activated. And we can do that remotely if need be.”

  “Thank you,” Wick said humbly.

Kix shrugged. “It’s like Piper said. You’re family. And family sticks together. So stay for a few days, relax. I’ll call Jeff with the details. No one, not even this asshole, can track your Abbott to the White Death. Mac is on top of security like a bee at pollination time.”

  Chapter Eight

Over the next few days, Abbott saw a whole different side to the concept of family. She hadn’t been very close with her parents, and since she’d been an only child, she’d pretty much grown up alone. When they had died a few years back in a car accident she’d been sad, but there hadn’t been any remorse or devastation. All she had really felt was regret that she hadn’t seen them to let them know they’d been correct when they’d warned her that Billy Walker was no good.

Piper took care of the grandstand, making sure it stayed clean and the men well fed. Abbott wasn’t dumb, she knew what the club ran for money and she figured out the cornfield was a good cover-up. But that meant they had some type of corn every night, and she always got shucking duty.

The phone Wick had given her rested in the pocket on the inside of her hoodie. It was a hidden compartment she’d sewn to carry important items, like her ID. If she had to make an emergency run, she knew she’d at least have that. When he’d explained what it did, one little sliver of relief swept over her. At least with it, if she ever did come up missing, they’d at least find her or find her body.

It was a grim thought, but a fact of life she had always carried around.

On the third night at being at the White Death MC she stood at the window in the bedroom she shared with Wick, staring up at the moon. Dinner had been another big affair and the men had settled into a low-key party since it was Friday night. She had left after helping Piper clean up, preferring privacy to the raunchiness that she knew would probably happen. Wick had told her enough stories over the past few months on how the Forgotten Rebels liked to drink and have fun.

What she wouldn’t give to be able to stay with him, to have what Piper had. She’d never been the woe-is-me kind of girl because she’d made her bed and she knew she had to lie in it. Yet seeing what could have been, or more specifically what might be, made her ache in so many different ways.

How many times over the past few years have I looked up at it and wondered what Wick was doing in that same moment?

Arms slid around her, hugging her. She jumped a little because she hadn’t heard him come into the room.

“Why don’t you join the party?” he asked softly as he kissed the shell of her ear.

“I was in more of a contemplative mood,” she replied.

He kissed her neck, and a shiver of excitement zinged down her spine.

  “What were you contemplating?”

He ran his tongue up the side of her neck and bit the skin near her shoulder. She moaned and arched back into him.

“I … ah … was thinking how great it is to be part of family,” she said a bit breathlessly. She was fast losing track of the ability to talk.

He nipped his way around to the back of her neck. His fingers tangled in her hair and pulled her head to the side so he could kiss and lick his way up to her earlobe. He took the fleshy part between his teeth and gently bit.

  “Oh my God,” she gasped.

He maneuvered her head so he could kiss her, possessing her lips in a voracious kiss that stole her breath. She completely forgot what she’d been so melancholy about as desire flooded through her body.

His fingers trailed down her body to slide under the waist band of her jeans, the touch a little ticklish. Her stomach muscles rippled in protest until his fingers brushed across her panties covering her pussy.

“Oh, baby, you’re so fucking wet,” he murmured against her mouth.

He rubbed over her slit, the cotton-covered finger rubbing little circles over her sensitive clit. She moaned and her hips jerked upward, bumping against him. “Oh my god,” she breathed.

“I can feel your heat, baby,” he said as he nipped her bottom lip. “I want you, Abbott, so damn much.”

He jerked his hand out of her jeans, turned her to face him, and then fell to his knees in front of her, hurrying to unbuckle and unzip her jeans. She panted as she watched him, the need inside her almost burning her alive. Down he yanked her pants and panties, helping her step out of one leg before throwing that leg over his shoulder.

“Mine,” he said, in a voice that was more animalistic growl than human.

Using two fingers, he spread her labia and then proceeded to fuck her with his tongue. He stuck it in as far as it would reach, and then thrust it in and out. At the same time, he managed to rub her clit, causing her to go crazy under him.

  “Chadwick!”

  ****

As soon as he rasped his tongue against her sensitive nub, her body arched like it had touched a live wire. Her hands buried in his hair, pulling it almost too aggressively, but he loved it. It gave everything an edge that pumped through his blood, lighting him on fire. He licked and sucked her in, sliding one finger into her heat. She bucked against his hand, so responsive it took his breath away. He had never seen anything more sensual, more desirous, than Abbott in the throes of bliss. When her body finally relaxed and she sagged back onto the blanket, he eased up his torment but he didn’t withdrawal from her body.

He was far from done with her.

Putting his hands under her knees, he pushed back her legs and scooted up until they hung over his arms. Then he dropped his head over her wet pussy and began his attack anew. He flicked her clit in quick, repetitive motions, making her scream in pleasure. Her cream ran and he lapped it up. He sucked on the little bundle of nerves and she splintered apart again. She tasted so damn good and he loved having her come apart in his arms. Damned if he wanted to stop.

When she collapsed a second time, he finally pulled back and let go of her legs, wiping his face on the blanket. He was so fucking hard that it was actually painful to kneel in such a position. He winced as his pants refused to budge and adjusted his dick.

“I want to fuck you now, Abbott,” he said. His voice had gone rough with lust surging through his blood.

  “Yes,” she moaned.

It was all the affirmation he needed.

He flipped her over and pulled her hips up into his then used his hips to spread her thighs wide. Her wet, pink pussy waited, swollen with her orgasms, and all he could envision was filling her up with his cum. It might be wicked of him to desire such a base, primitive need, but he knew once he saw his cum oozing out of her, his claim would be complete. She would be his, and he would hers. A partnership he’d been missing for too many years.

He smacked her on her ass and liked how his handprint immediately showed up on her pale skin. Holding her ass cheeks in his hands, he spread her open and lined up his cock against her pussy. Unable to go slowly, he thrust forward, absolute
ly loving how her greedy little cunt sucked his dick in, clamping tightly down on his invasion. It was so fucking sexy to see her hole stretched to accommodate his girth, and he swore he just glimpsed a bit of what heaven must be like. Holding onto her hips, he plowed into her, thrusting hard and deep.

“Fuck, you’re tight,” he gasped. “No wonder I came too soon that first time. Christ, you’ll be squeezing my cum out soon. I’m going to fill you up, babe.”

“Oh! God, yes! Fuck me, fuck me hard!”

Her passionate plea almost had him coming, and it took every restraint he had not to, not until he felt her splinter apart. He reached around to find her tits hanging down and pinched her nipple, tugging it hard and sharp. The small bite of pain sent her over the edge, and she cried out just as her pussy clamped around his cock. She came, and he lost it. Ramming himself in as deep as he could go, he emptied his cum into her pussy. In the back of his mind was the thought that she could get pregnant, but he didn’t fucking care. The thought of a son or daughter with Abbott didn’t scare him in the least, but the thought of ever losing her scared the shit out of him.

When he was drained, he collapsed on her back, panting heavily. Her arms folded and they flopped upon the bed. His heart raced in his chest as the euphoria of his climax surged through his system. He dragged her over his body and held her tightly.

“Don’t ever leave me,” he whispered.

It didn’t escape his notice that she didn’t answer.

Sometime in the middle of the night his cell vibrated. Wick was instantly awake. He grabbed his phone and looked at the name.

  Unlisted.

“Yes?” he answered softly, aware that Abbott was sound asleep beside him.

“Meet me in town tomorrow,” Jeff Edwards said immediately. “Behind the library. Noon.”

The call disconnected. Wick looked at the glowing numbers of the clock. He only had to wait ten more hours.

  Chapter Nine

Jeff Edwards waited for him in the alley behind the small library the next afternoon, dressed in jeans, a black t-shirt, and sunglasses. Even though he didn’t wear his badge, he screamed cop. Perhaps it was his body language. There was an air about him that seemed rough and menacing, and Wick knew that he was immediately being sized up.

Jeff didn’t hold out his hand. He didn’t acknowledge him at all expect to hold out a folder. “Am I gonna find his body full of bullet holes?”

  “Maybe.”

Jeff sighed. “Well, you might want to reconsider that.”

Wick took the folder and opened it up. From the shiny gloss of photo paper, Billy smiled up at him mockingly. Wick had a strong urge to scratch out his eyes like some type of adolescent preteen.

“How’d he do it?” Wick asked. “How was he able to track her for years?”

“I hate to say this but William Walker is one amazing hacker,” Jeff said. “His specialty is targeting ordinary people who have accumulated their life savings, and then hacking into whatever banking facility they have and taking it.”

“So that is how he’s tracked her. By hacking into her computer.”

“Who knows the lengths he took to find her,” Jeff said with a shrug. “Hacking into her computer was probably the easiest way for him but I’m sure there were other ways. A man who knows his way around a motherboard has no limits on what he can do. The FBI had courted him once, to be on their cyber division, but it seems he preferred the easy criminal life. Instead of being on their side, he’s on their wanted list.”

“And if he winds up with a bullet in his head?”

“There will be questions asked,” Jeff replied. “This man has been watched for a decade. He’s small time, but he’s still a person of great interest to certain parties. I don’t have to remind you that you don’t want to bring attention to your club.”

Wick closed the folder, handing it back to Jeff. “How the hell am I supposed to protect her from a cyber-ghost?”

“Find a different way,” Jeff said. “Listen, I may be a homicide detective but I know there are things our justice system has fucked up.”

“Thanks for the info,” he said with a nod of appreciation.

“You’re welcome,” Jeff replied. “But don’t contact me again.”

Gripping the folder tightly, he marched into his truck, started it up, and drove away without looking back. Wick’s phone rang and he dug it out of his pocket. The name Kix flashed on screen and he answered immediately.

  “Yeah?”

“Get back here as soon as you can,” Kix said grimly. “We’ve got a problem. The building behind the grandstand.”

The call disconnected. A sense of dread filled Wick, as if he’d seen the axe and was waiting for it to fall. Gunning his bike, he sped back toward the White Death’s homestead. He didn’t care if he broke speed laws to get there. Something inside was telling him this had to do with Abbott, and now knowing the exact type of man they were dealing with, he half wondered if there was any safe place for her.

When he parked in front of the grandstand he hurried to the place Kix had told him to go. He didn’t even bother knocking, just simply entered, and it was like walking into a freezer. The temperature was so cold he could see his breath, but he supposed that was needed for a dozen monitors and numerous computer stands littered throughout the large room. Thick cables extended in all directions and he had to watch where he stepped. Kix and Slade stood behind a very skinny man, covered in tats and piercings.

  “What’s going on?” he asked.

“We’re being hacked,” the skinny kid said grimly. His eyes were glued to the computer monitor in front of him as his fingers raced over the keyboards.

“Wick, this is Mac, my tech guy,” Kix said. The introductions fell to the way side as Mac cursed.

“Are you fucking kidding me?” Mac muttered.

“Who the fuck is it?” Kix demanded.

“Someone good,” Mac replied. “But he doesn’t know this system like I do. Hold on.”

For the next few minutes Wick watched as the computer wizard fought an online battle. Pictures flashed over the other monitors and Wick realized they were camera stills, and it dawned on him that this had to be Billy. There couldn’t be a coincidence that he’d taken Abbott to the one place where he thought the prick couldn’t track her, but he was doing his damnedest to find her whereabouts.

“It’s Billy Walker,” he murmured. “It’s got to be.”

Kix glared at him. “And you led him to our door?”

“I didn’t know how he was tracking her,” Wick said defensively. “I thought it was through her computer. But my source tells me he’s so good the FBI wanted him on their side.”

“Nope, not through her computer,” Mac said. “From my guess he’s been using security cameras, like he’s trying to use ours. Maybe even hacking into traffic grids. Hell, bank cameras, store surveillance, any God-damn thing that uses an Internet feed loop. For someone who knows what he’s doing, that’s easy stuff.”

“And places like bus terminals have them aplenty,” Wick surmised.

  “Yep.”

  “Son-of-a-bitch!”

“That fucker has to die,” Kix said coldly.

“He hasn’t gotten past my own personal firewalls,” Mac said confidently. “Right about now he’s being rerouted to someplace in Costa Rica. Oh look, he’s now seeing a traffic jam involving cows. I can hack you too, motherfucker.”

He gave a slightly maniacal laugh.

  ****

Billy watched as a bunch of Latino people tried to get cars through a wall of cows on some backwoods road. He tied to swim through the feed and get back to where he’d last been, but he was re-routed back to the same God damn fucking camera where cows were the main attraction. He checked the IP address and discovered he was lurking in Costa Rica.

  Somehow … he’d been beaten.

Someone out there had beaten him at his own hacking game.

  The thought was mind boggli
ng, and had he’d been told that some fucker out there could shut him down, he would’ve laughed his buzz off. Instead, he sat in the run down shithole of a home base, staring at a computer screen filled with fucking cows.

With a scream of impotent rage, he picked up his laptop and threw it. It hit the wall with a heavy thud and the sound of glass breaking as his screen cracked apart. Seeing the destruction of his favorite laptop only pissed him off more, and he stood, pacing as his anger grew with every step. This was Abbott’s fault. If she’d played by the rules like she always had before he wouldn’t have lost his laptop, but she’s found herself a bodyguard and now she was out of his reach.

  Or was she?

He knew where she’d gone because he was able to track her and Chadwick Edwards as they headed toward Rider’s Pass. She couldn’t stay there forever, could she? She’d have to leave at some point.

Maybe … maybe he’d just go retrieve her instead of waiting. He hadn’t done something like that before. Maybe it was time to end things after all.

  Chapter Ten

Abbott sat on Piper’s front porch shucking corn yet again and smiling as she watched some of the kids play in the field. Mostly younger, there was one teenager designated to watch them, although from the looks of it the girl was more interested what was on her phone.

This was life she’d always dreamed about. Stability. Peace. The fact that this was a community with people around to help at the drop of a hat was just an added bonus. Unfortunately, Abbott knew this was the kind of life she may never have. Not with Billy always hovering in the background ready to strike. She had no doubt that he was behind the snake incident and the minute she left this protected area, he could strike at any moment. What would he do next? Target Wick? The Forgotten Rebels? It had always been in her mind but now, it was a reality and she had to do what was necessary to protect the club, not to mention, herself.

For one moment, she allowed the sadness and grief to fill her. Coming home had been everything she’d ever dreamed about. Seeing Wick again had healed a wound that had festered way too long. And for one brief second, she had a glimpse of what life could be like. Wick talked about forever but she was a little more practical. Billy was the monster hiding in her closet, only appearing when everyone was asleep. Tormenting her when no one could see. She never knew when or where he’d strike.
