Find Me, Save Me

She exhaled a long, shaky breath. “Of course I’ll marry you, Tuck, and yes, the sooner the better.”

They kissed then, slow and deep, their bodies straining for each other. Tuck rolled away from her before things got out of hand, which they very nearly did because his exhaustion and injuries hadn’t had quite the debilitating effect he’d expected.

It had been the best kiss yet, as far as Maddy was concerned. Of course she always thought that, until the next one. She couldn’t wait for their first kiss as husband and wife. That one was sure to take the cake.

When Tuck released her, her beautiful lips curved into a shy smile. “I can’t wait to marry you, Tucker. I can’t wait to be Mrs. Simon. And by the way, I hate roses, so that would have been a big waste of money.”

“Good to know,” he said, running the backs of his fingers down her cheek. “I do have the huge diamond, though. I bought it last week, but it’s still back in Charlotte. I don’t want you to think I’m just doing this in the heat of the moment and haven’t thought it through. One way or another I was going to propose to you, and I was going to do it soon. I just hadn’t quite figured out how.”

Her eyes were soft and warm. “You’re my dream come true, Tucker. All of my dreams.”

“Ditto, baby,” he said roughly. “Kiss me, Madison. Kiss me and then curl back up beside me and let me hold you all night. Tomorrow we’ll make plans.”

She kissed him, passionately, telling him with her kiss what she’d already told him with words.

They were married four days later, at the ranch, with only Pastor Keller, Virgil, Kay, Libby, Ryan, Tim and Emma present. After the ceremony they all had dinner together, then Tucker swept Maddy off to the airport where he had chartered a jet to take them to their honeymoon destination in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. They could only stay a few days, because Tuck needed to get back to Charlotte to wrap up the case and get started with his transfer process. But a few days was way better than nothing.

Tuck dropped their suitcase on the front porch of the lovely rustic cabin in the woods and they stood there, locked together in a kiss that, at last, never had to end.

The kiss was only the beginning. And it was so worth the wait.
