The Bombay Hero
Chapter 10
“Today, I am dedicating my new cat shelter here in Chatsville to my cat hero named Snoop Alexander Stone…aka Catface. I want all of you to know that this black cat, who I once told myself I hated, saved my life. I will always be grateful to him.”
Snoop looked up at George with an affectionate smile. A tear trickled down George’s face in humility and was only noticed by Snoop. Yes, George had become a humble man and Snoop decided at that moment he and George would be friends forever.
“My new shelter will have cat nannies for the orphan cats and will provide them everything a cat could possibly want. And this will be a no-kill shelter. If a cat is not adopted, he may live out his life there forever with love and dignity.”
“This shelter will be called The Snoop Alexander Stone Cat Shelter.”
George Putter received a robust round of applause from the hundreds of Chatsville residents sitting in the audience. All eyes were on this man who confessed to previously being a cat hater and abuser to becoming, through an almost tragic event, a firm believer in the blessings and love a cat will unconditionally give.
The biggest smile of all was seen on a little lady sitting in the front row of the audience. Her name was Miss Pamela Lee Stone. She was blessed with having the most famous cat in Chatsville, New Hampshire…Snoop Alexander Stone…a true cat hero and her beloved Bombay.
And yes, Snoop had Pam completely trained…just as he had planned.
Epilogue…
“Well, Custer, I’m not sure if I ever want to take a ride on a city bus again!” exclaimed Snoop to Custer.
The two cats were lounging in the brilliant afternoon sunshine on the front porch of Miss Pam’s old Victorian house. Custer was just about asleep with his right paw covering his eyes and appeared disinterested in what Snoop was saying.
“Did you hear what I said Custer?” asked Snoop. “Are you awake?” Snoop gave Custer a gentle poke.
“Yes , Snoop, I’m awake. All that I can say is next time.. take the train!” answered Custer with a very big yawn.
“Oh, that’s a terrific idea Custer! I’ve always wanted to ride on a train!” said Snoop with a mischievous smile.
“Don’t count me in on that adventure Snoop. I’m too old,” said Custer.
“We’ll see about that Custer!” replied Snoop. “We’ll see!”

The next day Snoop was busy planning his next adventure aboard The Acela Express.
He was going to the White House!
