The Psychotic Husband (The Husband Series Book 3)

The horror lining his forehead became shadowed with a pained something. “Ben, I…I don’t know what to say!”
Regret. Hearing it had an odd calming effect. “Help me,” was all he could think as he leaned back into the chair, closing his eyes.
“What can I do? Tell me, of course I will do what I can.”
I have to tell him, Ben said. Is it safe?
It seems like it is, Lucas said. Yes, Irish agreed before Frank said, I like Mr. Wong.
“There’s one more…thing,” Ben said.
“Oh no.”
“The things that Frank learned, the…serial killer things. I chose to come to Nebraska in order to find out if the visions I was having were real or just hallucinations. I buried people in these visions. After viciously killing them and doing other things I don’t want to repeat, and there was only one way to know, and that was to see if they were still buried there.”
Silence stretched for several seconds. “It was real?”
Ben nodded, leaning forward again, and rubbing both hands over his head. “Found the remains of a girl that had been murdered months before. Not that long ago. Body not even fully decomposed due to the cold temperatures. We anonymously called it in but…” he looked at Lo now. “You understand what this means?”
“That…there’s a serial killer on the loose?”
“It’s worse than that, Lo. They are on the loose and they know Frank knows what they’ve done. That’s why he’s hiding his head.”
“What…why his head?”
“He doesn’t remember that part yet. I’m hoping once all his gifts are in my head, I’ll be informed.”
“You will.”
Lo jerked at hearing Lucas speak, looking like he’d heard a ghost. “Was that…”
“Lucas,” Ben said. “He’s the vision…person.”
“I like to refer to myself as the optic illusionist,” Lucas added.
Lo’s eyes bugged. “So he…he just talks and thinks?”
“Yes,” Ben said. “And there’s Irish, who is over taste gift, and Frank is over touch.”
“You said seven. There are only five senses.”
“Sixth sense is the he that runs the operation,” Ben announced. “I’m the seventh. We’re waiting for the sixth to find out what is actually going on. But right now, I think we’re all in danger.”
Lo’s spine visibly stiffened. “From who?”
“When you said that doctor’s name, something was unlocked in our head. A location in the Catskills. I think…no, they think it’s a hideout.”
“For what?”
I know who we’re hiding from, Lucas suddenly said, sending their pulse racing in fear.
Who? Ben demanded.
I don’t remember everything about him, only that he wants our head. I can’t tell you, but I can show you.
Ben blinked twice and saw the word carved into the literal wall of his skull.
Filth.
Who the hell is that?
He’s coming soon. He plans to use us to kill people.
