Thud-thud.
Concentrating, she listened harder. The sound was so familiar. So fragile and intimate and…familiar.
Thud-thud.
Her eyes went wide. Could it be?
Darcy rested a hand on her belly. With her extra, heightened senses, she could hear and feel things that others couldn’t. Something like this shouldn’t be possible. There was no way for her to be hearing this. No way for her to feel it. If she was a normal woman, she wouldn’t have.
Darcy Sweet was a lot of things. Normal wasn’t one of them.
Thud-thud.
Thud-thud.
A heartbeat. There, deep within her core. A developing life.
A baby.
She was pregnant. She was going to have a baby.
Darcy gasped, a sharp intake of breath, followed by a short, honest laugh.
Looking out toward the kitchen she caught Jon’s eye. He smiled at her, and she smiled back. A baby. Wait until Mister Police Man heard that news.
A new life, growing inside of her. Created by her and Jon.
She wondered, there on her sister’s couch, what sort of mysteries this would lead her into.

Hello everyone.
I wanted to take a moment and thank you all for making this series such a success. It’s been a wild ride full of ups and downs and more than a few mysteries.
I just wanted to let you know that Darcy, Jon and the rest of the gang are going to be taking a little break for a while. Possibly for several months. I hope to have them return at a later date, sometime next year.
I've really enjoyed writing the Darcy Sweet series. I can't tell you the personal pleasure, anguish, and tears I've poured into Darcy's life. Not too long ago I was talking to one of my own cats, and I accidentally called her Smudge! That's how personal these stories have become for me. I hope they’ve had the same kind of effect on you.

Strongly influenced by authors like James Patterson, Dick Francis, and Nora Roberts, Kathrine Emrick dreamed of being an author for the majority of her life.
She never quite gave up on the idea of being a published author and at the age of 51, thanks to Amazon and their Kindle platform, she finally realized her dream. Her maturity allows her to bring a variety of experiences and observations to her writing.
She lives in beautiful South Australia with her partner Michael and son Adam. Also part of the family are their tribe of animals including 3 cats, Kitty, Topaz and Tubby and two dogs, Tango the Chihuahua and Juno the Lab/Border Collie cross.
