  About The Author

Martin Caidin, a prolific and versatile writer with more than eighty books to his credit, is also a commercial and military pilot, a stunt flyer, parachutist and a recognized authority in the field of aviation and astronautics. From 1950 to 1954 Martin Caidin served as nuclear warfare specialist for the state of New York. He analyzed the effects of nuclear and other weapons on potential targets in the United States. As a commercial multi-engine pilot, Mr. Caidin flies his own plane all over the country. He has flown two-engine and four-engine bombers in Europe. For a time he flew his own World War II Messerschmitt in Europe and the United States. Martin Caidin’s first novel, Marooned, a thrilling account of a space rescue, became a major motion picture, and Devil Take All, No Man’s World and Almost Midnight were all bought for films. Cyborg, published in 1972, is now the highly popular ABC-TV series “The Six Millon Dollar Man.” Mr. Caidin is the author of an impressive list of authoritative books on military air history. Many of them, including Samurai!, Zero! and The Ragged, Rugged Warriors, are considered classics in their field. Martin Caidin is a charter member of the Aviation Hall of Fame, a Fellow of the British Interplanetary Society and a founder of the American Astronautical Society. Although he and his wife, Isobel, live within sight of the launching towers at Cape Kennedy, Martin Caidin is giving much of his attention these days to the problems we have fashioned for ourselves with nuclear weapons. His most recent books are Aquarius Mission and Wing born.
