“Martin right now I need it hard and fast. I need to forget everything even if it’s just for a while.” That’s all Martin needs as an invitation to slam into me. He wasn’t joking when he said it would be hard. It is exactly what I need right now. It doesn’t take me long to feel my climax build. Martin is driving into me time after time. I’m lost in the feeling; it feels so good. “Babe I hope your close because I don’t think I can hold out much longer. You feel so good wrapped around my cock.” That’s all I needed to take me over the edge. We both cum together. Martin lies on top of my getting his breathing under control. When his breathing evens out and he can speak, I can’t believe what comes out of his mouth.
“Roxie, I know you aren’t ready for a relationship right now but understand this. You are mine forever. I will wait until you are ready. As long as I have what we have right now I will be happy. I hope I don’t have to wait too long. Roxie, you are the most important person in my life.” I can see he means every word he just said. I am lost for words. What do you say to something like that?
Martin rolls off me gets out of bed and puts his hand out for me. “Time for a shower then we have to get going to meet Jake and the others at the airport.” I let Martin lead me to the bathroom for a shower.
We end up running late because I now know just a shower with Martin is impossible. He can’t keep his hands off me. But then I’m not that much better. When Martin is naked, any red-blooded woman will find it hard to keep her hands to herself. He had a body of a Greek God and a cock that any other male would be jealous of.
We get to the airport and get ushered to a private jet. When we board Jake, and the tech guy are already in their seats. There are also another two men that I didn’t know.
Martin walks up to Jake and shakes his hand. “Anything new we should know about,” He asks Jake. I’m looking around the jet and can’t believe that this is the first time I’m on one, and I’m too uptight to enjoy it.
“We will fill you in when we get to the police station. They have put a room aside for us to use while we are there.”
Martin shakes the hand of the guy sitting next to Jake. “Jimmy how’s it going. I haven’t seen you for a while. Still chasing that smokin’ hot blond piece?” I give Martin a shocked look. I can’t believe he just said that with me standing there. “That smokin’ hot blond piece is now my wife and is expecting or first child in a few months’ time.” Jimmy tries to look annoyed but can’t pull it off because his face has a look of pride and love.
“Wow, congrats man. I knew you two would end up together even with the both of you with your heads in your arse’s.” Martin has a grin on his face, it shows he is happy for the both of them.
I gently tug on Martin’s hand to remind him I am there. “Sorry, babe. It’s been a while since I’ve seen Jimmy. Jimmy this is Roxie. Roxie this is another old friend Jimmy. We go back a long way.” I extend my hand to shake Jimmy’s. He takes it, lifts it to his mouth and kisses the back. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Roxie.” I can’t stop the blush that races to my neck and face. “It’s nice to meet you as well Jimmy. Maybe we can catch up for a drink, and you can tell me all the stories I’m sure I don’t want to hear about Martin.” I look at the reaction Martin has to that comment out the side of my eye. He looks a little bit sick. Game on I think to myself. I will have fun with making Martin sweat.
“Oh, I like her Martin. I can tell she will give you a run for your money.” Jimmy is chuckling to himself.
“Ok, everyone you need to take your seats so we can take off. We are already running late. I will introduce everyone else when we get to the office.” Jake said.
Martin and I find a spare two seats next to each other, sit and put our belts on. Just as I start to relax my phone rings. I freeze not knowing what to do. I look over to Jake to try to get direction from him. “Answer it,” He tells me. I reach into my bag and pull it out. I look at the screen and see it is only Steve. I relax a little. “Steve how are you.” When he speaks, I can tell he is not happy with me. “I’m sorry Steve, I have had a lot going on and haven’t had a chance to get back to you.” I look at Martin and roll my eyes. “Steve, I said I was sorry. Look I’m about to take off to come home. There is some major shit happening at the moment. Can you meet me at home around say 5 o’clock today?” I wait for him to stop his ranting about how I need to tell him everything right now. “Steve stop. I don’t need you to pick me up from the airport because I’m on a private jet, and all transport has been arranged, I will tell you everything when you come over at five. I’m sorry, but I have to get off the phone so we can take off. I’ll see you later.” I press the end button.
“Wow, I can see what you mean about him not taking no for an answer.” Jake shakes his head. “Martin you might have some competition.” Jimmy has to put his two cents in. Martin does not take the bait and replies, “I have met this joker and, believe me, he is no competition for me.” He looks at me “Isn’t that right beautiful?” He winks at me with a wicked grin on his face. I now know what he meant by his comment. We have talked about where Steve is lacking in the bedroom department. The blush slowly craps up my neck to my face again. I think this is going to be a very long few days. I’m glad that Martin is coming and that he has such a great rapport with Jimmy and Jack. Maybe it might make a hard time a little easier.
For the rest of the flight, the agents talk amongst themselves. Which I can only guess is about what is going on. I can’t hear what they are saying because they are speaking in whispers. I try to have a nap but as the flight was only just over an hour, it felt like as soon as we took off we were getting ready to land.
There are two cars waiting for us when we get off the plane. Martin, Jake and I get in one car, and Jimmy and the other two get in the other. We are driven to the Rockhampton police station. The room they have set up has computers, whiteboards and a few telephones. Jake ushers us in, and we all take a seat at the table that is set up in the middle of the room.
“Let’s start with introductions. Martin, Roxie you met Brad our tech guy yesterday and Jimmy my partner on the plane and this is Gary. Gary does a bit of everything. He knows his tech but is also great in the field, so I called him in to get another pair of eyes. We will make this our base so Brad will stay here and keep working on trying to track where the calls and messages are coming from. The rest of us will head to your house, Roxie.”
As soon as Jake mentions my house my mouth goes dry and my tummy ties its self in knots. Martin must see a change in me, comes over and pulls me to his chest. “It will be ok, Rox. I’ll be there with you. If it gets too much, we can leave for a while.”
The whole car ride over to my house, the grip I have on Martin's hand gets tighter and tighter.
My heart rate picks up to a point where I think it is going to pump right out of my chest. My palms start to sweat. The whole time Martin’s thumb is stroking the top of my hand.
When we pull up at my childhood home, a rush of emotions run through me. Memories play in my head like I’m watching a home movie on fast forward. This is the only home I have ever known. I didn’t think I would be back this soon after Dad died if ever. I did have throughs of selling it in a few years’ time and just getting someone in to pack up all the stuff and get it put in storage until I was ready to face it. It is times like this I wish I weren't an only child.
Martin turns to get out of the car, but I stop him. “Is it ok if I go in by myself first? I just need a minute to get my head together.” The three men all nod their heads and give me an understanding smile. “Are you sure you’re up to doing this by yourself? I can go with you if you like.”
“I’ll be fine Martin. Please just give me a couple minutes then you can all come in.” Martin gives me a tender kiss on the lips and sits back.
I get out of the car, and it’s like the day I left. I’m standing there looking up to the front of the house. I slowly walk to the front door taking deep breaths, so I don’t pass out. I fish the keys out
of my bag and with shaking hands I unlock the door and walk in.
It looks just the same as it did when I left the only difference is a little dust has settled on the floor. I look around and start to take the sheets off the furniture, ball it up and drop it in a corner so I can deal with them later.
All the family photos are still on the sideboard and on the walls. I look at all the smiling faces looking back at me. There are photos of Mum and Dad on their wedding day. Me with Mum and Dad as a baby and of me at different ages there is a gap in my age around the time Mum died for about two years. I guess in our grief we forgot to take photos to remember the good times we had. Carly is in most of the photos which just proves how big a part she played in our family. She wanted to be here, but I told her to stay there and work because there wasn’t that much she could do. I don’t even know how much help I’m going to be. I haven’t a clue what I’m looking for and even if did find something useful I don’t think I would even know that it was useful.
The door opened as I was taking the last sheet off. Martin comes straight over to make sure I’m ok. I’m doing a lot better than I thought I would. It feels good to be back home. I give Martin a reassuring smile, so he knows I’m fine. Jake and the agent walk in behind Martin and look around.
“If there is anything here it will be in Dad’s office down the hall or in boxes in the attic. Where do you think we should start?” I ask Jake.
“I think we will start in the office and go from there.” I walk down the hall to the office door, open it and walk in. “Most of the paperwork is in the files so if you want to start there, I will start with the draws in his desk. What exactly are we looking for anyway?” I thought I better find out, so I have some clue as to what I’m doing.
“Ok, we will start with the filing cabinet but I think it might be better to take the files out to the dining room so we can sit at the table. You and Martin can stay in here and work at the desk. We are looking for anything out of place. Anything that stands out or doesn’t look right. It may be just a handwritten note on a scrap piece of paper. Don’t think that anything is worthless or not important because that one word or one little note may be the missing piece we are looking for. While we get to work, I’ll send one of the officers out to get some supplies from the shops because we might be here for a while.” When Jake finished talking, he directed Brad and Jimmy to gather some files and take them out to the dining room.
I started to empty the desk drawers and Martin, and I settled down for a long afternoon. Most of the stuff in the drawers were just old bills that never made it to the filing cabinet. There were also some old letters from Dad’s old school friends. I started three piles. One for stuff I know wouldn’t help like old bills. One for stuff I wasn’t sure about and one for stuff I wanted to look at, at a later time.
I don’t know how long we sat here for when there was a knock on the door frame. There was a police officer standing there with two cups of what looks like coffee.
“Detective, Jake thought you could do with a cup of coffee. You have been at it for hours.” The officer said as he walked over and placed the cups on the desk.
“Oh, my god. Thank you so much, you are a lifesaver.” I could not contain my gratitude when I thanked him with a huge smile. A blush rose over the officer’s face. “There is no need to thank me. I have been stationed here while ever I’m on duty for as long as you are here and I am under orders to get you anything you need. So please if I can get you anything let me know.” It was as if I was the only one in the room. He didn’t even glance in Martin’s direction.
I stood up and walked around to where he was standing. “Thank you, Officer…” I said as I extended my hand to shake his. “It’s Constable Barden.” We shook hands, and I introduced us. “Hello, Constable Barden. I’m Roxie, and that is Martin. Thanks again for the coffee.”
Constable Barden nodded at Martin, turned and left.
When the officer was out of hearing distance, well I hope he was, Martin started laughing. “Well, well, well, I may have some competition after all. Did you see the way he was checking you out? He didn’t even know I was in the room.” As Martin was talking, he had gotten out of his chair and came around to where I am sitting. “I’m going to have to keep my eyes on that one I think.” Martin wraps his arms around me in a tight hug. “Martin you’re jealous of that man.” I playfully slap his shoulder. Next thing his lip are on mine in a deep hard kiss. When he pulls away, he said. “Hhhmmm you better remember who your man is.” I can tell by the glint in his eye that he is joking around.
“Martin, in case I forget to tell you later. Thank you for coming with me. You have made this so much easier for me.” I stood up on the balls of my feet and kissed him. It started out as soft, but it didn’t take Martin long to take over and deepen it. Right now, I would give anything to have the house to ourselves.
“Ah hmm.” Someone cleared his throat. Martin and I turned around to see who it was. “There is a Steve guy here to see Roxie. Detective Jake said to come and let you know.” The Constable said looking everywhere but at us.
“Thank you. We will be right out.” Martin couldn’t keep the laughter out of his voice. As the Constable turned to walk out the door, I caught the death look he gave to Martin. “You know you may be right about that Constable. The look that he just gave you was like he was trying to kill you with his eyes.” I joke with him.
Martin pulls me back into his arms and kisses me hard. “I’m not scared of a little competition baby.” I haven’t seen the fun side of Martin before, and I love it. I hope I get to see more of this side of him.
“Come on let’s go and talk to Steve.”
We didn’t get the reception I thought we would when we walked into the lounge room.
“What is he doing here?” Steve yelled pointing at Martin.
“Well, hello to you too Steve. If you are going to be like this, you can leave. I’m not dealing with your crap with the rest of the stuff I’m dealing with right now. If you want to help sit down, shut up and listen and show Martin respect.” Steve, Martin and Jake are taken back by the speech I just gave. I don’t care what they think of me. I just want this done so I can start my road trip and get away from it all. Out of the corner of my eye, I see Jake elbow Martin in the ribs. “I like this one. You better not fuck it up with her.” Martin just looks at him and shakes his head. He walks over to Steve to shake his hand. Steve looks at it as if it is below him to make the effort to extend the same courtesy. Just when I think Martin is going to lower his hand, Steve reaches out and shakes.
“Steve,” Martin nods. “Martin,” Wow these two need to get over themselves.
“Steve, this is Detective Jake Hughes. He is here to find some information for a case if there is anything here and to find out who is threatening me.” Steve doesn’t have any problem shaking Jake's hand. I don’t understand Steve at all. The more I see him lately, the more I’m starting to dislike him.
“Wait someone is threatening you and what case? What the hell have you gotten yourself into Roxie? If you had of come back with me, you wouldn’t be in this mess.” What the fuck. Steve thinks this is all my fault. I knew I didn’t tell him about Mum when we were together for a reason. I am so glad I ended it when I did.
“Just hold on a…” Martin takes a step towards Steve with his hand in a fist by his side. I place my hand on his forearm. “Martin let me deal with this, please.” I give Martin a pleading look. He takes a step back.
“Steve, I think it’s time you left.” Steve takes a step towards me, “Roxie, please I want to help.” Martin steps between us. “I don’t think she needs your kind of help. She has me here to help her. She asked you to leave, so please do so before I get the cops outside to throw you out.”
Steve turns to leave and looks over his shoulder. “I’ll leave for now Roxie, but I’ll come back and see you in a day or two. Maybe we can talk alone.” “I doubt that is going to happen.” I don’t know if Steve heard what Martin s
aid but if he did he didn’t reply. Martin isn’t happy with Steve, and I know Steve will never get me by myself while ever Martin is around.
“Wow, that guy is a piece of work. Why were you ever with him Roxie?” I had forgotten Jake was even in the room. I cannot believe Steve acted like that.
“I am starting to ask myself the same thing. However, he was not as bad as this while we were together. Maybe he is just acting like this because of you.” I poke Martin in the ribs playfully with my finger.
As it was now 6 o’clock, we decided to get one of the officers outside to go and get take-out. We all sat around the table talking and joking. Jake was sharing some of the stories from when they were younger. You could tell just how close Jake, Jimmy and Martin are.
After we all finished eating and cleaned up, we all went back to our tasks. Martin and I headed back to the office and the others to the stacks of papers they had taken out.
“I just wish I knew what we were looking for and where to find it. I am sure that if Mum had any secret files she would have told Dad. If Dad had known about them surely, he would have told me before he died. He was sick for ages and knew he did not have long,” I feel so deflated and frustrated.
“Maybe he did tell you but in a roundabout way. In some sort of code so that you would only remember if you needed to.” Martin’s words make sense. I did not think Dad would have come straight out and told me if there were a file that was around and had Mum killed. He would be worried that I would then be in danger as well.
“But why now? I just can’t work it out. It keeps going through my mind over and over. What has happened to make these people come after it after 12 years?”
“Maybe it is because after your father had died, you packed up and went away. Maybe they worry that if you sell and go through all your parent’s things you will find it and hand it over to the police. That is just a guess, and I know that is what Jake thinks. Until we find the file or find out, who is behind it, then that is all we can do is guess. Just try to remember anything at all your Dad said before he died. Anything he really made sure you were paying attention to.”
