Sebastian took a seat next to his window and held his hands out.

  “What’s up?” he said.

Just thinking about it was enough to make me shiver. It only just happened but I wondered if I would ever be able to get over it.

“Agent Whitaker,” I said. “Do you remember him?”

“The FBI Agent you were working for. I remember.”

  “He’s dead. James…”

Sebastian gave me a cold, unmoving stare. If it wasn’t for how tight his jaw was clenching, he would’ve looked like a mannequin sitting there.

“He found the bug. Caught Whitaker before I had a chance to see him.”

“Did he get any of the details on Emerson’s operation?”

“If he did, James probably destroyed it.”

Sebastian got up from his seat and walked toward me. He put his hands on my arms but I moved forward, pressing my head against his chest.

“Whitaker should’ve never put you in that position in the first place. It’s amazing you did all of that for as long as you did.”

“I just wanted to make things right. I just wanted to get rid of James. Ivory… This town…”

Sebastian squeezed me tight in his embrace. I wanted him to hold me so hard that I would forget about everything. I wanted him to get rid of all of the stress and worry and fear that was eating away at my insides. But it was still there, no matter how hard Sebastian put his arms around me.

“It’s all right,” Sebastian said. “Everything will be all right.”

I slowly pulled away from him and looked up into his eyes. I didn’t notice I was sobbing until I saw how blurry my vision had become. I blinked and wiped away the stress from my eyes then sighed.

“You have to stop him,” I said. “You have to do whatever it takes. If James keeps his operation running—”

“Then Ivory will continue to spiral. It won’t be pretty. I know.”

I glanced down at the patch on Sebastian’s chest. The reason I’d left him in the first place. Now it was the only thing keeping us together.

I reached up and ran my fingers along the fabric.

“Venom… You have to be who you always were…”

He put his hands on my shoulders and squeezed me gently.

“I promise you, Kristen. This will all be over soon. I’ll do whatever it takes. Everything will go back to the way things used to be.”

  “I just… I want—”

“I know what you want. There’s nothing more you need to worry about.”

He leaned forward and put his lips to mine. A wet kiss that flooded my thoughts and made me forget for a moment about everything.

A sudden knock at the door broke me out of the trance Sebastian put me in. The door opened up and Roman stood there.

“Ezra’s back,” he said. “So are Hunter and Aden.”

Sebastian gave him a nod and Roman left.

“Stay here,” he said to me. “This is the safest place in Ivory for you right now. I’ll be right back.”

Sebastian started walking away. I held onto his arm until it trailed down along his hand. I squeezed his fingers, not letting him walk away.

“I’m here for you,” I said. “Anything you need me to do, I’ll do it.”

His lips slowly curled into a smirk. He moved back to me and gave me another deep kiss.

“You’ve already done enough,” he said. “More than I could ask for. I’ll take it from here.”

He turned back around and left the room. It was completely silent except for the faint sound of music from inside of the clubhouse.

I moved toward the window and sat down. Slightly tipsy, I stared out into the distance.

Somewhere in Ivory, James Emerson was out there, waiting for Sebastian. I didn’t want to think about what would happen when they finally met. But I stayed confident. Somewhere deep inside of me, there was a determination I couldn’t explain.

  “You’re going to do this…”

I whispered the words softly to myself. Even though Sebastian was nowhere near, I knew he heard me.

  Chapter 24

  KRISTEN

I was awake. I was asleep. Half-conscious. Stuck between a dream and a nightmare. I fidgeted in my seat until I suddenly felt a hand on my shoulder that made me jerk.

  “Hey,” Sebastian said.

  “Hey…”

I breathed out a sigh of relief then sank deeper into my seat.

“How long was I asleep?” I asked.

  “About an hour or so.”

  “An hour… That’s a lot longer than I expected it to be…”

Sebastian took a seat across from me. He nonchalantly put the cigarette to his lips then inhaled a long, slow drag. The way he was so casual about it, you wouldn’t have known that something was wrong.

“You need something to drink?” he said with a laugh, his eyes focused on the streets in front of him.

“If I’m drinking anything, I’m drinking water… I don’t know how people drink that swill you’re serving to them every night.”

“You drink it enough, you get used to it.”

“That’s what Danica said… I guess you get used to a lot of things when you’re around them enough.”

Sebastian puffed on his cigarette then exhaled the smoke out through the window. He held his cig up between his fingers and laughed.

  “What’s so funny?”

“I don’t smoke as much as I used to. Same goes for all the regulars. Because of the rules around here. Funny how the rules change and you adjust.”

“You’re still smoking now. Maybe you should quit for good. It’d be better for you.”

“Better for me… I know what’s best for me but sometimes… I just can’t help myself.”

He took another puff and sighed.

“Are you still talking about the cigarette?”

  “Yeah, that, too.”

He turned to me and gave me a wink. I couldn’t help but smile back at him.

Sebastian looked like he hadn’t slept in a few days. Scruff on his chin that needed a shave. Hair messier than usual. Eyes with a tinge of red and sunken in. I couldn’t recall a time when I’d seen him in worse shape.

But he was still handsome. That damn rugged appeal that had me staring at him like I was an obnoxious schoolgirl. Or maybe it was more than that. Maybe it was because I had feelings for him. They were stronger now than they’d ever been before.

“I remember when I first met you,” I started. “I was young and stupid. I got into Finn’s with a fake ID.”

“Going to Finn’s before you were old enough was definitely stupid.”

“Hey! I didn’t know any better. My curiosity just got the best of me.”

“I remember you standing at the bar. You and your friend looked completely lost. It was like you were afraid of going to jail or something.”

“I was afraid of going to jail,” I said with a laugh. “I thought if they noticed how out of place I looked, they’d find my ID and I’d get prison time.”

“I don’t think they give you time for a fake ID. Not in Ivory anyway.”

  “Still… I was terrified.”

I laughed as the memory became clearer in my mind.

“I was about to leave when you came up to me,” I said. “I still thought about leaving but there was something about the way you looked at me.”

“Oh? What was it? Was it my hypnotizing stare? My dazzling smile? Maybe it was the way I impeccably styled my hair.”

“Calm down, Casanova. It wasn’t any of that.”

  “You calling me ugly?”

“No… Far from it… It was something else though…”

I glanced at the patch on his chest.

“…Venom… I didn’t know what it meant. To be honest with you, I still don’t know what it means. But for some reason, when you were next to me, I wasn’t afraid anymore. I… I felt safe. Even with all of the crap going on around me at Finn’s, I was… I was invincible with you next to
me.”

Sebastian just kept staring at me while he listened, smoking his cigarette calmly.

“That’s why I left you,” I said. “I wasn’t afraid of anything else. But when I found out what you did… How someone hired you to kill someone who’d raped their daughter… That fear came back to me. You could do anything. You could do anything to keep me safe from whatever harm came my way. But you couldn’t save me from you. So I had to leave…”

Sebastian stared down at the ground and finished the last of his cigarette then put the butt out in his ashtray.

“I don’t blame you for leaving,” he said. “It’s been said before but it can never be said enough. Being an old lady… It’s not an easy life.”

“Life in Ivory was never meant to be easy. Not until we’ve earned it.”

“Earned it? And how do we earn it, Kristen?”

“You and I… We’ve both been through a lot these past few weeks. I feel like it’s finally coming to an end though. I see a light at the end of the tunnel.”

  “You’re not worried about Emerson?”

“No,” I said with a smile. “I remember how I felt that night at Finn’s when I first met you. I was safe. I was safe then. I’m safe now. You…”

  I sighed to collect myself.

“…You have something planned with your MC. You’re up to something. You don’t have to tell me what it is. Just promise me one thing.”

  “Anything.”

“After you deal with… Emerson… Come back to me. I want to give this another chance.”

I stood up from my seat and walked over to him. I sat down on his lap and moved my face close to his. I pressed my forehead against his and he stared back into my eyes.

“He said you have two days to give him back his money,” I said.

  “I don’t need that long…”

He put his lips to mine and suddenly everything was right in the world. There was no drug dealer looking to kill him. There was no club member shot dead in front of me. There was no lifeless federal agent next to me. There was just Sebastian. And I was a young woman again, smitten by a man I’d given my heart back to.

His hands moved up and caressed my breasts through my shirt. I gasped into his mouth as he squeezed me softly. I reached down between his legs and stroked him, eager to please him the same as he was doing to me. Judging from how hard he was through his jeans, it didn’t take much effort to get him started.

  “Let me…”

I stood up from my seat and took my shirt off. Sebastian kept his eyes locked on me as I continued undressing. I unhooked my bra and let it fall to the floor. His throat shifted with a swallow as he stared at my breasts bare before him. I undid my jeans and peeled them down. My panties followed and a cool night breeze brushed against the wetness already beginning to spill out of me.

Sebastian was focused as he undid his jeans. He raised his ass up just enough to lower them down toward his knees. His briefs followed and his erect cock popped up, so hard… so firm…

I moved back toward his lap, my eyes locked on his. I put my hands on his face and brought him in for another deep kiss. The scruff on his face was rough against my lips, a reminder of how nobody in Ivory was the man he was. I could taste the liquor and cigarette smoke on his tongue. Everything about him consumed me and overwhelmed my senses.

I lowered myself down and felt his tip at my wet entrance. He pushed up into me and my lips parted. The wonderful feeling of being stretched out by a thick cock made me gasp into his mouth.

My ass lowered down on him until he’d impaled me completely. My smooth mound rested on his hilt. I stayed there for a moment, enjoying the feeling of his length throbbing inside of me, before beginning to rock my hips back and forth.

I wrapped my hands around his neck and moved to my own rhythm. Up and down… Up and down… Up… and down… I bounced on Sebastian’s cock.

  He grunted harder. I moaned.

He grabbed my waist. I dug my nails into his neck.

He stuck his tongue into my mouth. I sucked on it.

Back and forth, we found ourselves. A perfect union that emptied my thoughts of anything that would worry me. All that was left inside of me was my desire.

If there were any doubts left, Sebastian removed them.

His hands moved up to my breasts, stopping them from bouncing to the rhythm I rode him. He squeezed them hard and brought a gasp out of me. I moved back in my position, arching my back. My mouth hung open as I grimaced from the pleasure.

Sebastian stared back at me. He grumbled through gritted teeth as he started thrusting up and into me. His hilt slapping against my ass grew louder and louder. Wet, sticky flesh colliding bounced off the walls of his bedroom, joining the chorus of groans escaping the both of us.

I dug my hands into his broad shoulders and held on, grinding against him and enjoying my clit rubbing against the base of his cock.

There were no words to be said. Just a focused stare to let him know that I was close.

I blinked as I tried to keep my eyes open. But the warmth building up inside of me was too much. Like a small fire inside of me blazing into an inferno, it wouldn’t be much longer until it consumed the rest of me.

I glanced down at his vest.

  Venom…

The word that frightened me. But now… Now it was all I wanted… It was everything I needed… It was the only thing that mattered.

I squeezed every muscle tight in my body. I held my breath until I finally lost control.

My body moved in violent spasms as my orgasm slammed into me like a massive wave. I convulsed on top of Sebastian. Thick contractions pulsed through me. Warm, wonderful waves spread from my core and vibrated through my skin all the way down to my bones.

I faintly heard Sebastian grunt underneath me. His body seized up and his cum wet my insides. I tightened around him, milking his length for every drop I could squeeze out of him.

The two of us lost ourselves with one another. I enjoyed my climax for as long as I could. Toes curled. Back arched. Nails deep into his skin. I held on until finally letting go.

I collapsed on top of him, resting my head on top of his shoulder. The two of us breathed hard. It felt like I’d need all night to try and recover but my senses quickly came back to me.

My feelings for him hadn’t changed though. When I stared into Sebastian’s eyes, I still saw the man who represented everything I could ever want or need.

“Come back to me,” I whispered.

  He swallowed hard and nodded.

  “I promise.”

  Chapter 25

  SEBASTIAN

  One night later…

Ellis did everything he could to look like the typical biker that everybody had given a bad name to. Hair long and dirty. Kutte looked like it hadn’t been washed… well, ever. The man didn’t give a shit about much except for his MC and his ride. He only stopped to get off of it to get something to drink and maybe something to eat.

He didn’t look like a savory motherfucker. That gave me every reason to trust him.

“A million dollars,” Ezra said as he dropped the duffel bag down in front of Ellis.

  “It’s all there?” Ellis replied.

  “You wanna count it?”

Ellis had his men kneel down and unzip the bag. They sorted through the cash and thumbed through the stacks while Ezra and I stared at one another. Ellis was just the first step to all this shit going down and I could already see Ezra having a few doubts.

“It looks right,” one of Ellis’s men said.

“You know, I kinda had it with this shit town,” Ellis said. “But when you contacted me with that kind of cash, I just had to turn back around.”

“Just do your job and you’ll be gone within the hour,” I said.

“No problem. You got my word.”

“Listen. I know you’re willing to take more money. But that cash is yours. Emerson will probably offer you double what we’re paying you.”

Tempting. I don’t know if I’ll be able to resist…”

“You think about switching sides and I’ll put a bullet in your head myself.”

  Ellis gave me a smirk.

“It’s not a good idea to go threatening a man you just paid off,” he said.

“I just paid you off. That should be reason enough for you to do what you need to do.”

Ellis sighed and gave me a nod.

“My boys and I already have more than enough to get by with the money you paid us off with last time. I don’t think a few more million will change things.”

“Good. Get in position. We’re almost ready.”

The Desert Rebels. A nomad gang for hire that Ezra managed to get back in contact with. Ellis and his boys were the right kinda men for the job. Willing to do whatever it took for a buck. Right now, we needed all the help we could get.

They all got on their rides and readied themselves.

  “Hey.”

Hunter walked up to me and patted me on the arm.

  “Everything’s set,” he said.

  “Takahashi?” I replied.

  “He’ll be here.”

“Are you sure about that? Last time I remembered, he wanted to kill you for not paying your debts.”

“I paid my debts and then some. Shit, the guy’s getting a million from us. I’m beginning to think this whole shit with Emerson was pointless if we’re just gonna go blowing the money away like this…”

“Emerson isn’t giving us much of a choice now, is he?”

  “No… No, I guess not.”

“Get in position with the rest of the crew and tell me when you get the call.”

Hunter got on his ride and lined up next to Aden and Ezra on their bikes. Along with the Desert Rebels, it was a formidable group. I couldn’t be completely comfortable though because Emerson had protection and I didn’t know how much.

I stood and looked at the warehouse in the distance. A few black, unmarked SUVs circled around the building while a couple more armed guards watched on patrol. Even from afar, the place looked as shady as you could imagine.

The unmistakable thundering of engines filled my ears. I looked back into the darkness of the unpaved road and saw a couple of headlights heading right toward me.
