“Hey, there’s someone I want you to meet,” she said, nodding towards the blond-haired man who stood in the doorway, holding the hands of her two other daughters. “And two girls who I think just spotted you.”
In a whirl of shrieks and hugs, Kathy and Karlee saw Rob. They came running over at a gallop to him. He caught them and warmly hugged them. Rebecca thought her heart would burst.
“Rob,” Karlee said, taking his face in her hands. “You missed everything. You have a lot to make up for.”
There was no more Wob. But Karlee still said every inappropriate thing she could think of. She bit her lip before asking, “Wanna come meet my daddy?”
Rob nodded, taking a long look at her. “I will. But first, how are you, Kathy? You look like you’ve grown two inches,” he said, hugging Rebecca’s shy, self-conscious middle daughter. Rob first got a small smile from Kathy, then she suddenly threw her arms around his middle.
When she let go, Kathy took his hand. Rob looked up and Rebecca smiled as she nodded towards her ex-husband. “And this is Doug. Doug, this is Rob.”
The two men shook hands and said hello. There were no fireworks, or anger, or snide comments. It was just a quiet introduction and reacquaintanceship with little girls who babbled away excitedly.
Doug finally gathered Karlee in his arms. “So I’ll drop them all by about noon tomorrow?”
“Sure. We’ll see you then.” Rebecca kissed each of her daughters goodnight; and they all smiled and kissed her, as well as Rob, before they turned and left with Doug.
Rob watched Rebecca. His eyes were riveted on her.
“So you ready to take me home yet?”
She lifted her eyes and met his as she thought her heart might explode in her chest. “I’ve been ready to take you home for years.”

About the Author
I live in the rainy area of Western, Washington, and spend as much time as I can getting away from the rain by traveling to destinations all across the state where my family and I do tons of camping, boating, fishing, and horseback riding. Many of the locations we camp become the basis for my books. Most of my settings are fictional but are based on real places.
I earned my business degree from Western Washington University. I worked for several years in the construction management field before turning to writing and being home with my kids.
