I’ve said before that while many view “writing” as a solitary activity, few books are really written in a vacuum. For me, that’s especially true as I have a family around me at almost all times, so books aren’t really going to be a thing unless I can get some serious help.

For me, that help came in many forms.

First, I have to thank my wife, who takes so much off of my plate that I don’t have to worry about anything except converting the words in my brain into pixels on the computer screen. Not all of that is in book form, mind you, but without her nothing would be written at all.

Next, I want to thank my kids. My oldest son helps keep my plate free so I can make things happen, and my daughter refuses to let me remain down when I hit a tough patch. Just a simple smile and all is better with the world.

I also need to thank my late mother, without whom I might have thrown in the towel long ago. When telling her I was thinking about a career change, she simply looked at me and said, “You’re a writer.” It was a simple statement of fact.

When she passed away, that played in my mind and drove me to continue despite all the difficulties life threw at me. I miss her so much, but she gave me the kick in the pants I needed.

I also need to thank my dear friend Sarah Hoyt. In addition to the cover of this book, she’s the one who put boot to rear to start me off on my indie publishing career. I wanted validation, and she reminded me that readers would do that for me. The response to that first book—a book that I look back on and recognize how much I’ve learned since then—got a great response and pushed me to keep writing and publishing.

Finally, I’d like to thank you, the readers. I write these stories in part for me, but also for you. I can tell these stories in my head, but it is you that makes it worth the time and effort to put them down on (digital) paper for your enjoyment.

If you have enjoyed this book, please take a few moments to review it on Amazon. Each review helps me and helps your fellow readers!
