“I already did that, Robin. It just took me a long time to realize it.” She sat beside him on the sofa. “If you have an hour or two, I’ll tell you exactly how I fell in love with Samuel and why I was too stubborn to admit it.”

“Wait right there, Molly. I’ll heat the coffee.”

  Re: Sam

Molly, what in the world’s happening over there? Mother said Sam got your address from them then flew to Paris, and I’m just dying to know what’s happening!!! Why haven’t you emailed? Has Sam acted a horse’s ass? If he’s done anything to hurt you, I’m going to fly over there and give him a piece of my mind!!!

  Re: Good news!

I just know it’s good news! This morning my horoscope said expect good news, and it’s never wrong. Well, except that time it said, expect a tall, dark, and handsome stranger to sweep you off your feet. Obviously, that never happened. So what’s the good news, Molly?

My horoscope is always wrong! I can hardly study for wondering what’s happen to you, Molly. If I fail my next test, I’m blaming you! (Just kidding, sweetie, but do let us know something!)

  Re: Paris

Reeve and I are flying to Paris next week. He’s got this big business trip and I’m going to SHOP!!! Molly, if I haven’t heard from you by then, I’m going to batter your door down, and I don’t care what you’d doing behind it.

  Re: Wedding!

Even better! WE’RE MARRIED!!!! Oh, I know we said we’d be bridesmaids at each other’s weddings, and there were these darling little pink dresses with French beading I had my eye on for all of you, but Sam and I just couldn’t wait!

We got married in the park beside the carousel. Sam’s idea! Can you believe it! He said the joy of the carousel is symbolic of me, or something really sweet like that. Robin baked a banana-raisin cake with plenty of nuts, because most of our wedding guests were squirrels, and we wanted them to enjoy the reception.

Pirate was there, too. Oh, I didn’t tell you…Sam bought me the cutest little poodle. It was in a BIG box of whimsical gifts he bought to convince me he really love me!

After the wedding, Sam broke the speed limit getting back to the hotel. It was hot in the park, so he’s in the shower cooling off. He insisted I take mine first – he’s so sweet like that! And he knew I’d be dying to tell all of you about the wedding.

Oh…he’s turned the water off. I’ve gotta go! I’m can’t wait to find out what it feels like when my husband explores Virginia!

  Molly

Molly closed the laptop just as Samuel stepped through the bathroom door.

“Mrs. Adams, have I told you today that I love you?”

“Only sixteen times. I’m feeling a little deprived.”

“I’ll have to think of some way to make it up to you.” He took the little dog from her arms and transferred him to the doggie basket in the bathroom. “Sorry, little fellow. You’ll have to play with your plastic cat for a while. I have plans for your mistress.”

When Samuel came back to Molly, he caught her face between his hands.

“Molly, I’ve waited forever for you.” His hands dropped to her shoulders. “I promise I will never make you sorry you married me. I promise you I’ll be gentle.”

“Gentle? Oh, shoot! I want everything—thundering heart and sweaty limbs and a wild ride to paradise.”

He threw back his head and laughed. “Venus, what books have you been reading lately?”

“None. That’s how Robin described it to me.”

He picked her up and marched to the bed.

“It wouldn’t do to make Robin a liar, now would it?”

  Re: Home!

Another Mr. Right turned out to be Mr. Wrong! He broke up via text message. Can you believe that!!! What a coward! It boggles my mind how many men start out with potential and then end up nowhere close to the altar! At this rate, Virginia will be bald and gray before anybody get close enough to even say hello, let alone get up close and personal!

I can’t wait to get back to Alabama so Mother can tell me everything is going to be all right. I know better, of course, but still it helps to hear her say it. And Molly, it will be amazing to see you. I still can’t believe you married my brother!!!! Don’t let him turn you into a banker’s wife! Just be the same mischievous Dixie Virgin we all love and adore! Of course, you’re not technically a virgin anymore, but I can’t even go there!!!!

Dang, I hope this new car makes it. Well, it’s used, very used, but it’s new to me. It’s a red Jag; can you believe it!!! I look like a million bucks in this car!

  Hugs,

OMG, my honeymoon in Paris was AWESOME!!!! We’re back in Florence now, settling into our house, and OH, Bea, I can’t wait to see you!!!

Me? Perfectly proper and non-controversial? NEVER!

  Re: Breaking Up

Hang in there, Bea. Breakups can’t be easy. I think I’d di
e if Dan ever told me he was leaving! Oh, did I tell you! I’ve got a job offer at the hospital here in Tupelo, which is such a relief! Now, I can concentrate on getting my husband to cut out the junk food and eat healthy!

Listen, Bea, have you ever thought about why you keep breaking up? What man in his right mind would ditch you! I think you may be subconsciously pushing them away because of the way Taylor Adams left. I know this isn’t easy to hear, but children whose fathers leave the family often have abandonment issues.

Now that I’ve had my doctor’s say, do you want me to come to Texas and kick his ass?

  Re: Pregnant

Bea, I do wish you could find a wonderful man like Reeve. He worships the quicksand I walk on. We’re still trying to get pregnant, but I can’t seem make a baby with him. I’m so upset!

Janet, reckon I ought to go to a fertility clinic?

Bea, if you need some extra petting, stop by the boarding house on your way to Florence. We’ll sit in the gazebo out back and laugh and cry and eat chocolate, and I’ll send you on your way with a big care package of cookies.

  Re: New Orleans

OMG, Bea. The next man who breaks up with you is going to get a piece of my mind! Not that I have much mind left! OMG, some of these veterinary medicine classes are killing me. If I didn’t have the unveiling of my Virginia to look forward to, I’d throw myself into the Mississippi River!

  Re: Unveiling Virginia

LOL!!! Bea, I’m so mad on your behalf I’d be right there kicking ass and telling Mr. Wrong off if I could! But a RED JAG!!! You go, girlfriend!!! Even your VIRGINIA looks better in that!

I’m sick of being stuck in Madrid with a bunch of nuns! If I ever get out of school, you’ll hear me screaming all the way across the ocean.

  Big Hugs!!!
