Updated, Annotated Discography to Sandy Denny CD Releases 2000–2010.
THE ALBUMS:
Every one of Sandy’s original albums, even her pre-Fairport recordings, has been reissued on CD with bonus material since the original 2000 edition of this book. Also released has been a bastardized so-called second Fotheringay album (at least one track of which is actually from the Fairport Convention Nine sessions!). The Saga sessions CD, the one title compiled by me, the recent Sandy and the Strawbs CD and the Fotheringay 2 CD are all fully track-listed below. Otherwise, only bonus material is given below:
{Where The Time Goes} (2005) 1. Who Knows Where The Time Goes (solo) 2. This Train 3. 3.10 To Yuma 4. Pretty Polly 5. You Never Wanted Me 6. Milk And Honey 7. My Ramblin’ Boy 8. Last Thing On My Mind 9. Make Me A Pallet On The Floor 10. False Bride 11. Been On The Road So Long 12. Two Weeks Last Summer – Denny, Sandy & The Strawbs 13. 3 10 To Yuma 14. Pretty Polly 15. Milk And Honey 16. Last Thing On My Mind 17. Make Me A Pallet On The Floor 18. Been On The Road So Long (with Alex Campbell).
{All Our Own Work} (2010) 1. On Our Way 2. Who Knows Where The Time Goes 3. Tell Me What You See In Me 4. Always On My Mind 5. Stay Awhile With Me 6. Wild Strawberries 7. All I Need Is You Babe 8. How Everyone But Sam Was A Hypocrite 9. Sail Away To The Sea 10. Sweetling 11. Nothing Else Will Do Babe 12. And You Need Me 13. Two Weeks Last Summer 14. Nothing Else Will Do Babe (Sandy vocal) 15. Bonus Tracks: 9. Dear Landlord 10. Ballad of Easy Rider (Liege & Lief outtake).
{Liege & Lief} (2002) Bonus Tracks: 9. Sir Patrick Spens 10. Quiet Joys of Brotherhood.
Note: A 2007 ‘Deluxe’ 2-CD set also includes ‘Ballad of Easy Rider’ (see Unhalfbricking remaster), BBC versions of ‘Tam Lin’, ‘Medley’, ‘Reynardine’ and ‘Sir Patrick Spens’ (see Heyday remaster), yet another alternate take of ‘Quiet Joys of Brotherhood’ and the BBC session versions of ‘The Lady Is A Tramp’ and ‘Fly Me To The Moon’. A right royal rip-off, and no way to treat such an important LP. They don’t even bother to source a good ‘off air’ copy of the Danish TV performance to provide a little more value for money.
{Fotheringay} (2004)
Bonus Tracks: 10. Two Weeks Last Summer 11. Nothing More 12. Banks of the Nile 13. Memphis Tennessee [all bonus tracks live from Rotterdam 1970].

THE ENDLESS BOXED-SETS:
Though there have been three substantial (one gargantuan) boxed-sets of Sandy’s work in the past decade, one from the David Suff Fledgling stable, the other two from the Sue Armstrong Universal stable (presided over by the eminently unqualified ‘super fan’ Andrew Batt), in every case these outlandishly expensive products have provided more gruel than hearty fare. As such, all three are better sampled before purchased. The (subsequent) single CD ‘Best of the BBC Recordings’ and the fifth CD of demos in Suff’s Boxful of Treasures are the only really essential volumes from what would, at list price, be a £250 investment!
{A Boxful of Treasures} (2004) A real hodge-podge and badly sequenced, t’boot. Slim pickings for the price.
5-CD set with the following ‘unreleased’ material new to official CD:
Disc 1: 2. She Moves Through the Fair (home recording) 3. Boxful of Treasure (home recording) 4. They Don’t Seem to Know You (home recording) 5. Go Your Way My Love (home recording) 6. Geordie (home recording) 13. Autopsy (demo).
Disc 2: 12. Silver Threads and Golden Needles (Fotheringay 1st LP outtake).
Disc 3: 2. Next Time Around (alternate take without strings) 9. Sweet Rosemary (demo) 11. The Lady (demo) 18. Walking the Floor Over You.
Disc 4: 3. At the End of the Day (alternate take without strings) 6. Fairport Convention – John the Gun (live) 7. Fairport Convention – She Moves Through the Fair (live) 8. One More Chance (demo) 13. By the Time It Gets Dark 15. Losing Game.
Disc 5: 1. One Way Donkey Ride (demo) 2. I’m a Dreamer (demo) 3. Take Me Away (demo) 4. Rising For the Moon (demo) 5. Still Waters Run Deep (demo) 6. All Our Days (demo) 7. No More Sad Refrains (demo) 8. By the Time It Gets Dark (demo) 9. The Music Weaver (demo) 10. What Is True? (demo) 11. Stranger to Himself (demo) 12. Take Away the Load (demo) 13. By the Time It Gets Dark (alternate take) 14. Full Moon (home recording).
{Sandy Denny Live At The BBC} (2007) Beware! Disc 4 has been largely sourced from existing commercial bootleg CDs (and not this fabulous private archive of a certain Mr. Batt!), and consists of poor, generational ‘off-air’ copies of BBC broadcasts. Disc 3 is a ten-minute DVD of Sandy’s one surviving BBC TV appearance:
Disc 1: 1. Fhir ir Bhata 2. Green Grow The Laurels 3. Hold On To Me Babe 4. Blues Run The Game 5. Late November 6. The Optimist 7. Crazy Lady Blues 8. The Lowlands of Holland 9. It Suits Me Well 10. The Nightingale (duet with Mick Groves) 8. Black Water Side (Richard Thompson guitar) 9. North Star Grassman & The Ravens 10. The Lady 11. It’ll Take A Long Time.
{Sandy Denny} (2010) An eight CD set of Sandy rarities disguised as, and priced at that of, a 19-CD set, the first eleven CDs of which duplicate the recent Universal remastered CDs, making for a truly shameful rip-off. Universal should be ashamed! The remaining CDs do feature a great deal of unreleased material, though disappointingly much of it has been sourced from bootleg sources. Track listings of discs 12 to 19 as follows:
Disc 12: 1. Blues Run The Game 2. Milk and Honey 3. Soho 4. It Ain’t Me Babe 5. East Virginia 6. Geordie 7. In Memory (The Tender Years) 8. I Love My True Love 9. Let No Man Steal Your Thyme 10.
