Kent stumbled to his feet to yank one of their abandoned shirts close, wiping away the mess and returning to Hadrian’s embrace when he was done. He dozed lightly as Hadrian carded his fingers through Kent’s hair, the room thick with their mixed scent, safe and sated in their temporary den. Moonlight reached through the window in pale bars to keep them company.
He woke fully when Hadrian tweaked the end of his hair.
“When the arrangements are finished, and Felicity and I head south, you’re coming with me. I’m taking you home,” Hadrian said. Proclaimed. “If you wish, that is to say.”
Kent’s belly felt warm with joy. “Might need rescuing, you think?”
Hadrian laughed and tweaked Kent’s hair again. “I hope not. But let’s see how it goes.”
Kent liked the sound of that. Taking the stray home. It didn’t matter what waited for them in the south, if his alpha was by his side. He pressed his face to Hadrian’s shoulder and took a lungful of the scent that drove him to the edge of madness and brought him back again. All shall be well, and all shall be well.
“See how it goes,” he said.
