We roll into a vacant lot littered with trash and several other cars. A large bonfire is blazing with a large crowd circled around it. Miles doesn’t park where the other cars are, he keeps on driving into the center of the crowd and parks right up front. The crowd parts as he drives through it and several people slap the top of his car and start chanting his name. I even see some girls flash their boobies at him.

“Quite the fucking hero, uh?” I ask with venom lacing my voice.

  “Willow.”

  “Miles.”

  “Don’t be mad.”

“I’m not mad. I’m fucking pissed. First, you’re gonna fight, which scares the shit out of me. But we get here and women are already flashing their scuzzy titties at you.”

Miles puts the car into park and turns to me. “This is my past. You are my future. You’re mine. I don’t care about any other women. I need to fight and I need you here.”

  “Fine,” I pout.

“Let’s go, baby. I’ll make you proud,” he says as he drags me out the driver’s side of the car.

The women instantly back off when they see me on Miles’ arm. Several of them whisper to each other and I hear some say, “Who’s that? Miles never has a woman.”

There’s already a fight going on between two scrawny men when we show up. We’re offered a couple of beers and settle on Miles’ hood to watch the fight. His boys show up and gather around us, too. It’s very obvious that Lance is some type of bookie, setting up fights and collecting money. Several people put hundreds of dollars on Miles. I even hear Luke’s name mentioned several times. The whole thing starts to freak me out as several fights pass.

The women get more comfortable and start encroaching our space as the night goes on. One blonde in particular has not taken her eyes off Miles. She’s now dry humping Luke while eye fucking Miles. I lay my head back on his shoulder and whisper in his ear, “Who’s the blonde?”

  “An ex,” he whispers back.

  “Are there any female fights?”

  “Willow.”

  “Well, can women fight?”

  “Why?”

“Because I’m going to scratch her motherfucking eyeballs out if she tries to get your attention one more time.”

  “Stop, Willow.”

“No, she’s pissing me off,” I say as I slam my second beer.

  “You’re not a fighter. You’re a lover.”

  “You’re right. I am a lover.”

With his words, an ingenious idea hits me. I turn to face him and straddle his lap. Miles just chuckles because he can read me like a book. I spy the blonde nudging herself closer to the car with my movement.

“Get a fucking room,” I hear Lance shout.

Others shout, “Get our boy loosened up to kick some ass.”

“Fuck, Miles has never been seen with a girl out in public. Her pussy must be magic.”

Miles tenses up at the last comment, but I whisper into his mouth, “It’s either this show or I fucking bash in Blondie’s face.”

“You and that mouth are about to make me blow my load. Bring the country girl to the hood and she be getting all ghetto up in my ass,” Miles jokes.

“Shut up,” I say, and then kiss him.

We start to make out while blocking out everything else around us. I let Miles take whatever he wants from me, and I know it’s from a mixture of liquid courage and pride running through my veins.

“You’re a fight away. Let’s go, Miles, boy. You drew Tucker,” Lance announces.

The small crowd around us starts to hoot and holler at the mention of Miles and fighting. He slides us off the car and then turns around and places me back on it. He reaches down and kisses me hard this time.

“Tommy. Luke. You don’t leave her side,” he demands.

  “I love you, Miles.”

“Love you too, crazy girl,” he says as he tears his shirt off over his head.

That sexy motherfucker. Not only is he clearly the hottest man here, but now he’s shirtless and apparently the crowd favorite. I will claw out eyeballs for that man.

“You’ve never seen a fight?” Luke asks.

  “No,” I shake my head.

“You don’t come from this, do you?”

I shake my head no again.

“He really fucking loves you,” Luke says.

“Is he gonna get hurt?” I ask.

  “Naw. Not too bad.”

  “What does that mean?”

  “Watch and you’ll see.”

Luke stands to the right side of me and leans back against the hood. He has no tattoos and is very clean shaven, but covered in bruises and small cuts. He must be a fighter, too. There is sadness in his eyes and a haunting chill in his voice labeling his very lost soul fighting for its way home. Everyone has a story to tell, and it’s not a matter of if it’s told, but rather when.

My attention is drawn back to the fight when I hear the crowd erupt from the other side and I finally see this Tucker. My gut does a fucking cartwheel when I see just how ginormous this Tucker is. Well over six feet tall and built like a brick shit house.

  “That’s who he’s fighting?” I exclaim.

“Calm your shit, Goldilocks,” Lance hollers back at me.

Luke turns to look at me. “He’s beaten this joker three times before.”

Miles enters the makeshift ring and our side of the crowd goes fucking nuts. I sit frozen, unable to think, let alone cheer for my boyfriend to get his shit beat up by Tucker. Along with the two fighters, there are also two other men in the ring. All four of them hold a discussion for several minutes. It’s impossible to hear what’s being said. I assume they’re stating the rules.

Fuck! I wish I would have paid attention to the other fights instead of sucking face with Miles. I don’t even know how the hell a fight is won.

“Luke, how do you win one of these?”

“They go until there’s a knockout.”

“Fuck him up, Miles,” a voice roars from the back.

Miles totally transforms in the ring and he literally breaks my heart for the first time. I don’t see this glorious fighter like the rest of the crowd, instead I see a young boy scrapping for survival. I’m only able to focus on a man who loathes his past and his roots, but who is too prideful to turn his back on it. I see the kid who still eats cereal in his bed and collects fortune cookies. The part that hurts the most is I remember the carefree man who lived life Colorado, but I no longer see him in front of me.

Tucker throws the first punch, which Miles narrowly dodges, and hooks Tucker with a right upper up in the side when he comes back up. Tucker quickly regains his balance and lunges for Miles again. This time he connects, sending Miles backwards with the force. Miles never loses his footing, but is throttled hard by the punch. After the punch, Miles goes ballistic, throwing and landing punches. The first sight of blood is too much for me to handle. I bury my face in Luke’s back, not wanting to know whose blood is lying on the ground or eventually whose body will be on the ground.

“He’s got this, kid,” Lance assures me.

  “Tell me when it’s over.”

I keep my face hidden by Luke’s back and let the roars of the crowd tell me everything I need to know. Finally I hear our side go wild and Luke tells me it’s safe to look.

I peek up from my hiding spot and see Miles with his hands raised up and Tucker on the ground. Silently, I thank God for the victory, but not for the sight and feelings I just went through.

“What a fucking cunt. She doesn’t deserve Miles if she can’t even watch him fight,” I hear a voice from the left of me.

Turning to look, wouldn’t you know Blondie couldn’t leave it alone.

  “Excuse me?” I shout.

“You heard me. You don’t deserve him, princess.”

  “Fuck you,” I spit.

“That’s all you have. Where’s Daddy’s money to save you?”

“You don’t know shit. Shut the fuck up.”

  Blondie t
akes a step closer to the car and strikes gold. “I know how it feels to be fucked by Miles night after night.”

Her words send me flying off the car. I hear Luke yelling at me in the distance, but can’t stop myself from going for her throat. I catch the bitch off guard, sending her flying to the ground, and I follow suit, swinging my arms the whole time. I can feel my knuckles connecting with her face and hear the crunch of her bones. Someone pulls me by the hair, trying to pry me off of her.

I hear Luke roar, “Let go of her now. Get your fucking hands off her.”

At first, I think he’s talking to me, but then I feel the pressure ease up on my head. In the next moment, I feel strong arms wrap around me and try to drag me off Blondie. I keep swinging, not wanting to miss an opportunity of pounding the memory of her taunting me with the fact she fucked Miles night after night. I’m losing ground with the force pulling me from the fight. Not ready to give up, but knowing that I’m about to lose contact, I spit in her face. The crack whore tries to sit up once my body is lifted off hers, so I start kicking as I’m drug away.

In the distance, I hear Luke. “Why the fuck are you pulling on a woman’s hair?”

Then I hear more bones crunching and wince, knowing that Luke is taking care of whoever decided to pull my hair.

“Let go of me,” I scream.

Tommy releases me and I go back for the blonde, but before I get anywhere, I feel an arm wrap around my middle. “Easy, Rocky.”

It’s Miles. I turn around and start pounding on his chest.

  “You fucker,” I yell.

“Calm down. What happened?” He chuckles. Apparently, me fighting another woman is quite comical to him.

“You fucker,” I yell again, catching my breath. “You never told me it was til knock out. What if you…you know, and I couldn’t watch then, and that stupid cunt had to announce it to everyone that I don’t deserve you because I couldn’t watch. I couldn’t watch you be that man, Miles. I told her she didn’t know what she was talking about. Want to know how she responded?”

“She’s not worth it, Willow. Words are all she has in her life.”

“Well, she called me out as a rich princess, and then explained to me how you fucked her night after night. I lost it.”

“You beat the shit out of her, Wils.”

“Really, Miles? That is all you got from that? Are you fucking serious right now?”

  “Well, you did.”

“She called me out in front of everyone and bragged about—”

Miles stops me mid-sentence by throwing me over his shoulder and walking to the back of his car.

“What are you doing?” I cry out.

Miles puts me down on the trunk of his car. It’s nearly pitch dark now with the fire dying down and the crowd has migrated further towards the fire, secluding off his car from the majority of the audience. I watch as Miles unbuttons his jeans. He’s already bare chested and sweaty. I don’t notice any visible scratches or bruises on him.

“What are you doing, Miles?” I ask again.

“I am going to fuck you on my car like I promised earlier—balls deep, baby.”

Miles swivels my legs to the side of the trunk, undoes my pants, and pulls them down, dragging my panties with them.

“I need you now. I wanted our first time to be special and slow, but I need you. And I need you to know it doesn’t matter who I’ve fucked in the past. It’s you now. Only you.”

  “Take me,” I whisper.

“I’m going to fuck you hard,” Miles growls in my neck.

He scoots my ass to the edge and lowers me down, pushing my back against the car. I wrap my arms around his neck. Looking over his shoulder, I see Blondie and flip her the bird.

Miles shoves into me without warning, causing me to yell with pained pleasure. He stills once inside me, picks his head up from my neck, and rests his forehead on mine.

With his eyes closed, he starts to speak. “I have never felt this fucking good. I can’t move.”

“Open your eyes and fuck me, Miles,” I beg.

My words fuel Miles to start fucking me. He moves with power and rawness inside me, not slowing. Our mouths crash together and I let go of my screams inside him. “Free Falling” by Tom Petty fills the night air as Miles and I fully connect for the first time. He throws me up on the trunk on my back and is covering me in seconds. He reenters me with such force it almost sends me over the edge. Once on top of the car, he continues to pound into me.

“Miles. Miles. I’m going to go.”

He scoops his hips lower, thrusting into me, dragging heavily over my clit, and I release with a scream. I can feel his release building up as he pulses inside me. I’m finally able to look into his eyes and see the pure pleasure building for him. He has sweat dripping from his forehead, the veins in his neck are throbbing with each thrust and then he begins to grunt.

“Go, baby. Go inside me,” I beg, needing him to fill me.

Miles finds his release as he grunts and collapses on top of me.

“That was perfect. Thank you, Miles,” I whisper.

Miles keeps his face buried in my neck. “I can’t ever lose you.”

  Chapter 13

  Cupcakes, Anyone?

  Willow

Waking up next to Miles is better than anything else I have ever experienced. It’s just another reminder that he’s mine forever. He’s still asleep after our eventful night at the fights and then more fooling around when we got home. The stubborn ass made sure to put the new sheets on the bed and Febreeze the whole trailer before we settled in. It took me going down on him again to finally convince him that I’m not going to get scared away by the sights or smell of this trailer.

My phone vibrates from the headboard, and I quickly grab it before the vibrations wake Miles.

  Cree: How’s it going?

  Me: Great.

  Cree: You happy?

  Me: Very!

Cree: That’s all that matters then.

Me: Promise me you will remember those words.

  Cree: Love you, sis.

Me: Love you, grande. Kiss the kids for me.

I shoot Tripp a couple updates as well since I have my brothers and home life on my mind. If anyone will understand my circumstances, it will be Tripp. He’ll be the one to logically think the situation through before reacting. Cree, on the other hand, is likely to blow his lid, depending on the way Milly reacts.

Leaning up on one elbow, I watch Miles sleep and pet his hair. We both slept naked and entangled with each other all night. I lean forward and gently kiss his forehead.

“I will always choose you, Miles,” I whisper to my sleeping prince.

Miles’ phone goes off this time, and unfortunately it’s not on vibrate. He has never replaced the annoying fucker. He rustles around in bed and fumbles for his phone, and reaches it just in time. I listen to him try to carry on a conversation dead asleep.

“What?” he groans into the phone. “Yeah.” He pauses. “How much did we pull last night?” Another pause. “Yes, I’ll be here for two days. Leaving Friday. Bye,” he says, and hangs up. “Morning, beautiful,” he mumbles and drags me on top of him.

  “Hey,” I reply.

“How long have you been awake?”

  “Not too long,” I answer.

Groaning in pain, Miles admits, “I am so fucking sore. Tucker landed some good ones last night.”

“Does my baby have some boo-boos?” I ask.

Miles nods, grabs my hips, and lifts me up. In one swift motion, he enters me.

“You are so naughty,” I groan in pleasure.

Collapsing down in exhaustion on Miles, I giggle at our uncontrollable raging hormones that we can’t seem to put a lid on.

“Oh, just in case you were wondering, I’m on birth control.”

  “I wasn’t,” he replies.

“And it’s not because I’m a slut. There were some complications after the…” I trail off in silence.

  Miles li
fts my chin up. “After you lost the baby,” he prompts.

“Yes, after I lost my baby.”

“I don’t care if you are on or off them.”

I have no idea how to respond to him. Committing to him forever is one thing, but a baby is whole new level of discomfort for me. He doesn’t say a word, instead he just holds me to his side and I drag my fingers across his abs. I feel the slightly raised scars that I first noticed yesterday when exploring them.

I stop on one of them and ask, “What are these from?”

“I don’t want to talk about it.”

“Mmm. Sounds familiar. Good. My notebook was getting lonely,” I reply, as I get up and toss him the notebook from my purse and a pen.

Miles writes for several minutes while I gather our shower supplies and clean clothes for the day. I hear him toss the notebook and pen.

  “Done?”

  Miles nods his head.

“Let’s go shower then,” I suggest.

  “Help me up, please?”

I walk over to the bed and hold my hand out to Miles. He reaches for it, and using all my strength I tug on him to help him up. I hadn’t thought about it, but his muscles must be screaming at him after the fight and then our night of romping around. Miles tugs on my arm, and before I realize it I see that look in his eyes and the asshole pulls me back down in bed, straight on top of him.

  “You little sucker.”

“I want you in my bed.”

  “We need to shower.”

  “We’ve got all day, babycakes.”

“I have to go meet Lance,” Miles says as he finishes getting dressed.

“You said that two hours ago,” I laugh.

  “I’m serious. Let’s go.”

“I don’t want to. I want to stay here, clean, and cook dinner for us.”

I look up to see a very stunned and frozen Miles.

  “I’m speechless,” he says.

Laughing, I cross the room and wrap my arms around him, “I’m serious. I can walk down to the store and get groceries.

“Okay, I guess. You know Mom will be here with you.”
