Well, he could help in that. He plotted out a family tree and was astonished by the holes in it. Old Rob could help out there as he would have a big part in Chip's plan anyway.
He dug into his old possibles bag and came up with his single meaningful trophy from his western years. It had weathered well and he knew that his use of it was just about the best anyone could hope for.
He got out good paper and pens and went to work. He entitled his writing "The Memories of Chip Shatto" and began:
This book is covered with leather made from the
hide of an Indian I killed in the high Rockies.

About Roy Chandler
Roy F. Chandler retired following a twenty year U.S. Army career. Mr. Chandler then taught secondary school for seven years before becoming a full-time author of more than sixty books and countless magazine articles. Since 1969, he has written thirty-one published novels and as many nonfiction books on topics such as hunting, architecture, and antiques.
Now 87 years of age, Rocky Chandler remains active and still rides his Harley-Davidson across the continental United States.
He divides his time among Nokomis, FL, St Mary's City, MD, and Perry County, PA.
