If she could have, she would have said it was too much, but she had no breath left. Until finally she found it. She sobbed out her orgasm, his name shouted over and over, his hair sure to be ripped out at the root. At that moment they both heard her cell phone ring again, and they laughed.

“Do you know the first thing I’m going to do when I get home?” she asked.

  “Kick your brothers’ asses?”

  “Tape up my ribs.”

  * * * *

Olivia called him at five o’clock in the morning the following Friday. She knew his schedule, and he wasn’t due in the firehouse until ten o’clock that morning.

“Parker,” he answered, his voice rough with sleep.

  “Prescott,” she responded.

“Olivia Ann, now this is a nice way to wake up. What are you doing up at”—there was a pause, she assumed he was looking at a clock—”five o’clock in the morning?”

“I’ve had my ribs taped for a week,” she reminded him.

“I know. We have a date tonight.” Joshua’s voice went low and husky.

“I can’t wait that long,” Olivia admitted. “How about you open your front door and let me in?” Olivia laughed at the sound of the phone being dropped. In less than a minute she was pulled into Joshua’s arms. It took her just a moment to realize that she was inside the house, and he was naked, which suited her just fine. She giggled as he carried her down the short hall to his bedroom and laid her on the rumpled covers, following her down.

His lips captured hers for a relentless kiss that left her breathless. They rolled and wiggled, trying to get closer. He pulled the hem of her sweatshirt, working it over her head with her help. The both of them trying to unfasten her front-clasp bra only made the process take twice as long, and twice as fun. Eventually, Olivia was happy to find herself as bare as Joshua. They had already discussed birth control, which she had just started, but for the next month they would still need to use condoms until it took effect. Joshua had a supply on hand.

Olivia was trembling with need and laughing with joy at the same time. At last, she was going to make love with this man. “Condom,” she said.

“Not yet. Foreplay first.” And he bent down to her breast and placed kisses around her nipple.

“No. I want fucking. Right now! You promised after a week we would make love.” Olivia knew she sounded whiny, but she couldn’t help it. She was horny! They’d been making out like teenagers for the past six days!

“Foreplay. I can’t get it up without lots and lots of foreplay,” Joshua explained solemnly. Olivia pressed her pelvis against his sizeable erection.

“Bullshit, Parker. Now glove up.” She used her best executive voice.

Joshua took her nipple into his mouth and sucked. At the same time, he slid his left hand down her body, and boldly pushed his fingers between the plump lips of her labia. He had to have found her more than ready. Olivia arched up into his touch, greedy for any intimate physical contact.

“Please Joshua,” she whimpered. “I woke up from an erotic dream, again, for the third night in a row. But today I could do something about it, so I drove over here. Please make love to me. Don’t make me beg.” She looked into his beautiful gray eyes and knew that he saw the truth. Then, oh God, then he was pushing his fingers farther, and then it was three fingers being slowly pushed into the depths of her cunt. Olivia sighed. He’d been preparing her for days. She whimpered as he pulled out, but then he was back again with a fourth finger and she sighed in relief. Having seen him naked and aroused, Olivia realized that still wasn’t enough to prepare her for his girth.

She appreciated his attempts to ensure her comfort, but they were past that.

“Joshua, I’m not a virgin. I’ve had four lovers in my life. Granted it’s been a few years, and your dick is bigger than any of the others, but I’m not going to break. However, I will spontaneously combust, if you do not insert Tab A into Slot B.” Joshua laughed, reached over to the nightstand, pulled out a condom and something else, and put them on the bed.

  “Thank God,” Olivia breathed.

Joshua knelt on the bed and rolled the condom over his cock. Olivia all but drooled. Despite her brave words, she had to admit that she was glad for some of the prep work they had been doing. Joshua was far bigger than any of the other men she had slept with before, and the first night they had played together, it had hurt when he had inserted his fingers. Apparently she should have been masturbating with a vibrator all these years to keep in practice!

Olivia spread her legs, inviting Joshua into her body. She watched in fascination as his penis actually bobbed. Apparently her pussy had power as well. He reached down and spread her labial lips, swiping his tongue from top to bottom and back to top, ending at her clit where he gave a gentle bite that had her arching up. He immediately soothed the small hurt with the tip of his wet tongue, brushing lazy circles around the sensitive nub, causing more fluid to seep from her core.

“You’re so wet, and you smell and taste so good, Olivia Ann.” He moved one of his hands from holding her open. He dipped a finger inside of her, and she knew it was to make sure she was ready for him. He then reached over her hip and picked up a tube of personal lubricant.

“I’m not wet enough?” she asked, sure this was a sign that she was somehow deficient in some sexual way. Joshua seemed to hear the vulnerability in her question, and moved up her body, his chest to her breast, his mouth to her ear.

“I have never had a more responsive woman in my bed. Never,” he assured her. “Everything about you is so sexy and turns me on. Your body glows in passion, and when you come it brings me to my knees because it is so intense and natural and sexy.” Joshua waited for his words to sink in. Olivia let his words sink in and she nodded, then he continued. “Extra lubricant is just a precaution. Think of it like an airbag, I would never want you to feel a moment’s discomfort, unless you wanted a little bite of pain with your pleasure.” Olivia looked at him in confusion, and he kissed the tip of her nose. “That’s a topic for another day, love.” Olivia finally caught on to his meaning, and felt a moment of curiosity before she was brought back to the here and now.

“You’re tight, and that’s going to feel like heaven,” he assured her. He lifted himself over her, moving between her legs, and unsnapped the cap from the bottle, warming the liquid between his fingers, and then started to smooth the gel over the folds of Olivia’s pussy. He took his time, tracing each petal, until finally he reached her slit. He poured more of the liquid onto his fingers, swirling it around until it was heated, and then, ever so slowly, inserted them deep up into her core, curling them and rubbing Olivia’s G-Spot in languid strokes. He smiled as she arched up with a keening wail.

  “Joshua, oh, my God!”

“I’ve got you, honey.” Olivia couldn’t believe the feelings flowing through her as he increased the pressure, caressing harder, at the same time ensuring the lube had generously coated her pathway. He continued to rub that spot with stronger and stronger strokes until her channel gripped his fingers, rippling around him. “I’m coming,” she gasped out, as her body bowed up in one final spasm, and then crashed back down onto the mattress.

Olivia could barely breathe, but she watched as Joshua used the rest of the lubricant on his condom-covered cock. She didn’t know how it was possible, but even after that mind-blowing orgasm, seeing him stroking his thick prick had her pussy clenching in reaction. God, she needed that inside her now, and finally she was going to get her wish. She looked at his face and saw that he was looking between her legs in concentration.

He hooked his hands under her thighs and lifted her legs so they settled over his kneeling form. Spread out like an offering, she raised herself up on her elbows so she could see where their bodies would connect. He guided the head of his penis to her slit and paused.

“Don’t make me wait anymore, Joshua.” Her voice was a husky plea.

He looked up from the beautiful sight of their bodies to
uching, gray eyes meeting blue. “I’m not making you wait, Olivia Ann. This is a moment to savor.” He smiled.

“Oh.” She gave a soft smile back. “You’re right, it is.”

He pushed the head of his cock into her snug channel, and it felt so much better than she had imagined. There was no discomfort, only a feeling of fullness and rightness. She felt her body clamp down.

“Jesus, Olivia,” Joshua gritted out. “You feel amazing. Like a hot velvet fist. Am I hurting you?”

“I need more of you Joshua, I feel empty. I feel like I’ve been missing you forever. Please, come into me.” Olivia couldn’t help the tremors that were going through her entire body, that were communicating themselves into strong ripples in her pussy. She knew she was clenching on his cock, but she couldn’t stop it.

“I’m sorry Joshua, I can’t stop clenching,” she apologized.

He slowly forged through a couple of more inches and paused. “Olivia Ann, never apologize for making me feel like I’m in heaven. Jesus, I’ve never felt anything better in my life. But you better try to relax, unless you want me to come like a fourteen-year-old boy.” She looked up at him in surprise, and saw how his face was a mask of concentration. He wasn’t kidding. She, Olivia Ann Prescott, had made this man so excited that he was going to lose control. At that moment, he looked at her and barked out a laugh.

“Pretty proud of yourself, aren’t you?” Olivia watched as a drop of sweat rolled down his temple.

“Getting you this hot and bothered, after all the torturing you’ve done to me for the last week? Damn right, I’m proud of myself.” She giggled in delight. That laugh did the trick. She relaxed and Joshua was able to thrust the rest of the way in.

“Oh, Joshua, that feels so good,” she said as she wrapped her calves around his waist, clutching him closer.

“Yes.” He grasped her hips, and held her still as he pulled back out. She mewled in pleasure, feeling every bump and ridge as he slid over the sensitive flesh of her passage—in and out, faster, and deeper. He gripped her firmly, keeping control of the rhythm, driving her higher and higher.

  “Let me move,” she demanded.

“No. You’ve done more than enough. This is my show. You can move next time.” He moved one of his hands so it was pressed down on her abdomen, which brought so many new sensations into play, while his other hand drifted to the apex of her mound. He continued his steady, measured strokes, causing her to scale higher and higher. As she felt his finger move to touch her engorged clit, she begged him not to touch her there.

“No, Joshua, it’ll be too much,” she cried.

“Olivia Ann,” he breathed harshly, “it’s never too much.” He pushed harder, bumping her cervix. She groaned in pleasure, and his thumb brushed her clitoris, and they both cried out their climax.

  * * * *

Later that morning, she watched as he got ready for work.

“I promise to keep my ribs taped between now and our date tonight.” She purred.

“Kitten, at this rate, I think I’ll need to tape my ribs.” He bent down and kissed her. As they were leaving his house, he asked for her hand. She gave him her right hand, and he dropped a key into it.

  “What’s this?” she asked.

“It’s a key to my house. You can come and go as you please.” Olivia smiled slowly in pleasure.

“Things seem to be moving a little fast, Joshua Parker.” At her comment he went to take the key out of her hand, but she snapped her fist shut. “Oh, no, you don’t get to take it back. I like that things are going fast.”

“I do too, Olivia Ann. I think we are going exactly the right speed for the two of us. I’ll pick you up tonight at eight o’clock. Plan to spend the night.”

“Oh, I had planned to,” she said with a smile.

He walked her to her car. He opened the car door for her and waited for her to settle in before he closed it.

“Call me when you get back to Chance’s.” She looked at him as if he had lost his mind. “I’m not kidding. I worry.” When she really looked at him, she saw the sincerity on his face and acquiesced.

  “I’ll text you.”

“I love you, Olivia Ann, be safe.” With that, he turned and walked back to the house. Olivia barely had the higher brain function to start the car. The man had just said he loved her! Oh, did she have a lot to think about. But before she could even think, she had to stop the tears of joy.

  Chapter 5

Ian had been in Phoenix for three weeks, and he’d kept in touch with Joshua during that time. Unfortunately, every phone call had made the acid in his stomach churn more and more. All he heard about was Olivia this and Olivia that. It was as if his entire life now revolved around this one woman. What’s more, Joshua was making noises about a future with her, which was the opposite of what he had said before Ian had left to help his dad.

Ian wanted to be happy for Joshua. Hell, they had both talked about being best men at each other’s weddings. It was just that he had an odd feeling about this, not the same kind of bad feeling he had about Fiona, but something else. A sense that this was not going to be the relationship Joshua was expecting. Damn it, he hated this knowing he sometimes had!

He finally had his father settled where he was up on crutches, and his mother could deal with him. Over the years he had learned how to have a very good relationship with his sister, and it had taken a lot of work on his part. Relationships weren’t his strong suit. Ian’s sister Rosalie had two children. At first, he had been scared to death at the idea of interacting with children. But when he held Rosalie’s baby girl, what had seemed scary before became a miracle. He’d developed a special bond with Sarah and Philip during their early years, which had thankfully continued as they had started middle school. They still seemed to understand him, to love him. So going home and spending time with his family, albeit a duty, was also a pleasure.

For many years Joshua had been his bridge to the intricate workings of other people and then he taught Ian how to manage on his own. The only real insight that Ian could call his own, that hadn’t been taught to him by Joshua, was the uncomfortable “knowing” that his grandmother insisted was passed down from the Scots side of the family. If it weren’t for the fact that it had literally saved his life and the lives of some of the others he worked with, he would call it utter bullshit. But there it was, he had some weird psychic ability sometimes. Besides a few life-and-death situations, he had known that Joshua’s one love, his fiancée, was wrong for him. He had told Joshua, who didn’t believe him. Joshua chose Fiona over Ian, and they didn’t talk for months, until Joshua eventually found Fiona cheating on him.

Joshua had known about the psychic flashes before, and he gave them more credence after that, but still said Ian was a socially backward ass. Ian couldn’t really disagree. So all in all, it was up to Ian to ensure that this new woman, Olivia, wasn’t going to harm Joshua. She was all he had been talking about for weeks, and he was even talking about having a family with her! So he did what he always did. He started hacking, and found out absolutely everything possible about one Olivia Ann Prescott. After that, he developed a plan. He would meet Olivia without Joshua knowing.

The day after he returned to Fate Harbor, he called Olivia to introduce himself and asked her to meet him at the firehouse so he could take her to lunch after his early shift. He knew that Joshua was working a shift over in Snoqualt on a job-sharing program, so he wouldn’t be home until after 11:00 p.m. Ian told Olivia that since he had just gotten back into town, and had heard so much about her, he would like to take her out to lunch. She thought that was a great idea.

  * * * *

Olivia got out of her car, and looked at the firehouse with a great deal of happiness. It had been the happiest five weeks of her life. AHC gave her bone-deep satisfaction, but happiness? Not like Joshua. For the first time in seven years, she was trying to figure out what she would do if she wanted to work a forty-hour week, so she could come home to somebody at nigh
t. She’d had two relationships since running AHC, and each time she continued to work and volunteer, which ended up seventy hours a week, and she never once considered cutting back her hours. But the idea of not spending quality time with Joshua had her rethinking her entire schedule.

She seriously thought she might be falling in love with the man. She thought about him all of the time. God, there just weren’t words to describe him. He was someone who made every part of her better, made every part of her light up in response. He had even said the same thing, that being around her made him feel better about himself. And he had said he loved her. She still held those words close to her heart.

She was excited about meeting Joshua’s best friend, Ian Ransom. Joshua had talked about him a great deal. She’d never had a best friend. But apparently Joshua did. If they were girls, they’d have bracelets and call each other BFFs. She giggled at the thought.

She’d read through the lines Joshua led with his heart and emotions. It was one of the things that Olivia responded to, since she was so OCD. The night he had built a fire and fed her s’mores and wine, she would never have thought to do that. The way he was willing to say I love you. No, not even that, the way he was willing to fall in love. Hell, she knew she was still protecting her heart, but Joshua was willing to feel and lead with his heart, to tell somebody he loved them and risk getting hurt. Oh, how she cherished that in him. And she’d bet her bottom dollar that Ian Ransom cherished that in his friend, as well.

Interestingly, her OCD tendencies were giving her the feeling that Ian was uber OCD. It occurred to Olivia that he needed Joshua to almost act as an interpreter of people and their emotions, that the world at large didn’t make sense. At the same time, this was the man who had saved Joshua’s life just two months ago in Montana and two other times that Joshua had told her about. This was the man who was a frickin’ genius in electronics. This was the man who had been Joshua’s rock when he had broken up with the other woman he had loved.
