Tirzah nodded although she had no idea what he’d said.

  Chapter Four

Tirzah learned fast. She’d been with him for many days and nights, she’d lost count of how many, and he’d spent almost every day teaching her his language. How she wanted him to touch her again, but ever since that first time, he’d insisted she wore clothes. He’d even bought her clothing, a lot of it, and footwear, too. They were called shoes, he taught her.

She understood almost everything he said to her, but he never asked her about herself, where she was from. Why not? She stretched and relished the soft bed. Everything in his house was wonderful. If only the others could experience all this.

“You’re awake. How about I take you out for breakfast?” Cain asked as he walked toward the bed. He was already fully dressed.

It had been frustrating sleeping naked next to him every night, craving his touch, but he never tried anything and she didn’t dare make the first advances. She’d fallen so in love with this man, but didn’t know if he felt the same.

“I like breakfast,” she told him.

“Good. Go shower and get dressed then. Now that you speak a lot of English, I think it’s time you answered some questions.”

  “You never ask question before.”

“No, I didn’t want to until you could speak the language well enough. It’s time now. I’m glad you learn so fast. You must have an extremely high IQ.”

Her heart somersaulted. Finally, she would learn more about him and he about her. The shower still fascinated her, as did the toilet and everything else in his house. The mirrors were the most spellbinding. Every day she gazed at her reflection, hardly believing it was herself she was looking at. At home, she’d seen a warped reflection in the water, a hazy reflection in some of the metal from the ship they’d used in building things, but this was as if she’d stepped into the glass. After she dried her hair and body, she gazed at the mirrors again and spun around. Her hair was silver white and hung to below her buttocks. Her eyes were a brilliant azure blue and she thought her face was quite pretty.

“You’re perfect,” Cain murmured behind her and placed his hands on her shoulders while he gazed at her reflection. “Go and get dressed. We can talk while we eat. I’m starving.”

Tirzah loved all the foods he’d introduced her to. Eggs weren’t foreign to her as they often ate eggs at home, but they were prepared differently and didn’t taste the same. They were chicken eggs, he told her, and he’d shown her a picture. There were no such birds at home.

They had breakfast in the restaurant downstairs. Cain sipped his coffee while she preferred milk. She hadn’t acquired a taste for coffee.

“Okay, first question. I already know you’re from the forest, but where?”

“Far away. I traveled many nights to get here.”

  “Are there more of you?”

  “Yes. We are fifty-six.”

“That’s interesting. How long have you lived in the forest?”

“Always. I was baby in the forest. My father and mother, they come from stars.” His eyebrows arched at that. “Now me ask. Are there more cats like you? They live in house like you?”

“Not as far as I know. I haven’t met any shifters besides you. And it’s not my house. It’s a hotel. I haven’t taught you that. A hotel is a place to stay when you travel. My home is in Los Angeles. Far away from here. I am on holidays.”

  “What is holidays?”

“I work. Holidays is time off work to rest, to travel.”

  “Oh. What work you do?”

“Computers. You’ve seen my laptop? I explained that to you, what a computer does. I program computers.”

  “Is your city big?”

“Yes, much bigger than this one.”

“How can you be cat shifter in big city?”

  “With difficulty. It’s hard.”

“You come live in forest. Our village small.” She suggested it but doubted he would want to leave all his wonderful gadgets and living quarters for the rough forest.

“So your parents are from the stars. Where from the stars? How did they get here?”

“Their ship crash in forest. They make home in forest. Big rock hurt ship.”

  “Big rock in the forest?”

“No. Big rock in the sky.”

“Okay, so they were struck by a meteorite or something and crashed. How long ago?”

  “Many years. They were fifteen.”

“Fifteen people? And now there are fifty-six?”

“Yes. They make village near river. Far away.”

“In the Amazon. I’ll be damned. If anyone found out about this, it would make headline news. Honey, don’t ever tell anyone else any of this. Okay?”

  “Why?”

“I’ll explain when you know even more of my language. If anyone asks where you’re from, tell them you’re from Sweden. You’re so fair, that would work.”

  “Sweden?”

“Yes. Another country on this planet where there are many people with blue eyes and light hair. I’ll tell you a bit about it, just in case. Right now we’re safe because I don’t know anyone here in Belem, but I’m hoping—”

  “Yes?”

“Never mind. I’m thinking of taking more time off work. Can you take me to your people?”

“I think so. I left trail of my scent. It takes many days and nights and we can only travel at night or the savage people will see us.”

“We’ll make it simpler. I’ll hire a boat to take us as far as we can go and then we can take it from there.”

Did that mean he wanted her to be his mate? When he stood, she automatically put her hand in his. “More lesson today?”

“Maybe. Let’s go back to my room. There is something I want to tell you.”

She wondered what it was and eagerly went back to his room with him. He hung a piece of paper on the doorknob. “What say?”

  “Do not disturb.”

  “Disturb?”

“I don’t want the maid to come and clean right now. I want to be alone with you,” he told her as he closed the door.

Before she had a chance to walk into the room, he took her into his arms. Oh, but this was sheer paradise. She’d wished and waited for this moment. He tilted her chin and looked down into her eyes.

“Tirzah, when you mate, do you mate as cats or as humans?”

“Cat and human. The first time is always human until the official join and when we want to have a litter.”

“Do you realize I’ve fallen in love with you? And if you don’t know what that means, I want you to be my mate.”

Her heart sang. “We are destiny,” she murmured while standing on her toes to reach his lips.

“Yes, my darling, we are destined to be together. Fate brought me here, brought you here, and fate helped us to meet. I’ve fallen head over heels in love with you.”

Tirzah waited for him to kiss her. Instead, he picked her up, carried her to the bed and laid her on it.

“I want to marry you,” he said. “Will you marry me, Tirzah?”

  “What is marry?”

“A human ceremony when two people join together for life.”

“Oh, we have ceremony like that.”

“Will you be my wife? Will you marry me?”

“Yes,” she whispered, “After you join with me.”

He took her into his arms and his lips touched hers, gently at first. He rubbed his lips back and forth against hers until she couldn’t stand it anymore, and placing her hands on each side of his head, she forced his lips to stay put against hers. He forced them apart with his tongue, and she drowned in the kiss that followed. His tongue tasted sweet as he explored her mouth. She squirmed against him, wanted him more than ever now they were promised. He broke away from her suddenly and looked down at her. “With your people, are you allowed to mate before the ceremony?”

  “We are promised. Yes.”

“What about if there is a baby before the ceremony?”<

“I only make baby when I am cat,” she said softly.

“And it comes out human? But don’t forget, we are a different species. I don’t know how that will mix.”

At that moment, she didn’t care. She just wanted him. What followed, they’d find out later. She wished he’d stop talking and continue kissing her. Her body yearned for him, craved him. She pushed her hips hard against his, felt his erection against her and prickles ran up and down her spine.

“If your people are as smart as you, we need to move them to the city,” he told her. “They are wasted in the forest.”

“Are there alien species on your planet?”

“Earth. You need to learn to call it Earth. No, there are no aliens. Why do you ask?”

“Because we see silver machine, like bird, in sky.”

“That’s a plane. A flying machine. It transports people to other countries or cities that are far away. It is much faster than going by land or boat. Lord, there’s a lot you need to learn yet.”

“Your people have spacecraft? You visit planets?”

“Only the moon. We’re not quite that advanced,” he said.

“Oh. My people will be sorry.”

  “Why?”

“They want go home, find planet, find other people from Alishur.”

“I’m afraid no one on Earth will be able to help them with that.”

By then she was in heat so bad, she was ready to tear his clothes off. “I no talk,” she said and removed her top. It did the trick because he reached out to pull it over her head. He fumbled with the clasp of the hated bra he’d bought for her until it came off, too. The lust shone in his eyes while he gazed at her breasts and nipples. Leaning forward, he suckled each one until they were hard and erect, his fingers trailing down to the hated tight pants he called jeans. They were so restrictive and she was always happy to take them off. She felt him undo the snap at the waist, then the zipper came down and his fingers dug beneath the elastic of her panties.

“Oh, yes,” she murmured. “I like.”

He stroked her fur first, then pushed on the little nub between her folds, making her squirm. He rubbed between the folds as far as the jeans would allow, stroking between the lips that were swollen and taut with lust.

He pulled his hand out of its captivity. She tried squeezing her legs together to hold him there, but he was too forceful. It didn’t matter. He inched her pants down and her panties at the same time until they were almost down to her ankles. She kicked them off and dared to reach for his belt. Fumbling with it, she managed to undo it and the button.

He swung her down to the bed completely, parted her legs and kneeled between them. He seemed to gaze down at her for a long time.

  “I wouldn’t mind betting you’re a virgin, my darling.”

  “What is that?”

“A woman who has never mated.”

  “No. No mating. No…eh…”

  “Attraction? Feeling?” he helped.

“Yes, no feel for young man of my people.”

  “I’ll be gentle.”

  “Gentle?”

“It means soft, tender. I won’t hurt you.”

While he talked, he parted her folds and bent down. She wondered what he was doing, but didn’t have to wait long. Like a cat, he lapped the cream from between her folds, then his tongue entered her sacred opening—that area never touched. She gasped and lifted her hips. His thumb played with the little nub and pressed on it while his tongue continued tormenting her. With his other hand, he drew her leg up. She automatically pulled the other one up and spread them as wide as she could, opening herself to him.

He sat on his knees and pulled her nether lips far apart, then gently ran his fingers up and down her moist folds. “So beautiful,” he murmured. “So untouched, pink, virginal.”

He played between her buttocks, touched the opening there. She’d never heard of such practice even though she’d often heard the young married women talking about their sexual activities. It didn’t feel unpleasant, but what he was doing between her folds made her squirm and thrash her head from side to side.

“You’re so beautiful, my forest goddess, you take my breath away and set my blood on fire.”

He abandoned her pussy and lay on top of her, gazing down into her eyes. She’d understood what he said and it was like poetry. His words were like music, like the birds that sang in the trees.

The object that would make her his forever rubbed between her folds. It felt thick, hard, and it throbbed and pulsed with a life of its own. Reaching down, he placed the tip of it in front of her hole and pushed. Her opening stretched to accommodate him. It hurt a little, but it wasn’t bad. He stayed like that while he kissed her deeply, his tongue exploring, tasting and sucking hers into his mouth. Tirzah wound her arms around his neck and lifted her hips. He edged in farther, slowly, and stopped again.

He was teasing her—playing with her. His mouth never leaving her lips, he thrust hard suddenly. She stiffened for a moment, but only a moment. Relaxing under his kiss, his caressing hands, the walls of her opening gave way, stretching until he filled her. Slowly, he drove his massive sex organ into her. He plunged and plunged again, until he filled her completely. His enormous sack stroked her widespread folds and the crack between her buttocks as he plunged in and out.

This feeling of wonder, of having her mate join with her, of hearing her blood rush in her ears, her heart thumping almost out of her body—it was overwhelmingly wonderful. He continued thrusting, slowly, carefully, until she felt the beginning of release build within. It was a strange feeling, one she could hardly describe. Every fiber of her body was on fire, tingling. Strange currents shot through her belly. Grasping his hair, she threw her legs around him instinctively, drawing him even farther inside her. This caused him to thrust harder and faster.

He trembled and pulled away from her mouth. Placing his hands on either side of her, he pushed up and looked down at her. Holding her gaze, he thrust very hard several times and she knew he had almost reached the peak of his desire. So had she. He grunted and trembled more and she bucked up, matching his rhythm.

“Oh, Cain, oh,” she murmured as relief washed through her and her juices flowed, mixing with his. He pulled out and lay next to her, breathing heavily. What was wrong with him? Hadn’t she pleased him?

She couldn’t have been more wrong.

“Tirzah, my darling, you’ve just given me the greatest gift a woman can give her man.”

She leaned over him and kissed him on the lips. “I did good?”

  “You did more than good.”

“I was afraid I did not please you.”

  “Don’t be silly. Come here.”

He pulled her on top of him. His breathing calmed and he kissed her tenderly, holding her tight. Cradling her head against his face, playing with the long strands of silken hair, he told her, “There is so much I can teach you. But all in good time.”

  “More language?”

  “Yes, that and other things.”

“Teach me name of your reproductive organs and mine?”

She heard his deep throaty chuckle. “Sure. Reproductive organ doesn’t sound very sexy, I must say.”

“What is this?” She reached down and stroked his flaccid appendix.

“Mm, you can call it a penis. That is the nice word. You can call it a cock. You know what? I’m going to get some DVD’s for you to watch. That’ll teach you a few things. At least about sex and what to call everything.”

  “DVD?”

“Yes. It will put a picture on the TV and you can watch.”

“Oh, will you watch?” The TV had been another item of great interest to her. Whenever she had a chance, she turned it on.

“We can watch together. First, we need to talk about going to see your people. I’m going to see if I can rent a boat for tomorrow.”

After kissing her again, he got off the bed and picked up what he called a cell phone. She saw him leaf through a
book, then he talked on the phone.

My people. What will they say when I return with a big black man by my side, a black cat for a mate?

  Chapter Five

Cain made her wear the uncomfortable clothes again. She hated how they made her feel so restrained, but according to him, she’d have to get used to wearing them. People on Earth did not walk around naked, he’d told her, except maybe in the privacy of their home. They had packed light because once off the boat, they wouldn’t be able to carry anything. She didn’t even know how far they could go on the river. They’d never seen boats of any kind come anywhere near their compound. She wasn’t even sure she’d be able to find her way back. She’d left her scent all along the riverside, but what if the boat drove a different direction? There were many forks in the river. The thought of not being able to find the compound again frightened her, but she didn’t dare tell Cain of her fears.

The boat was a whole new experience for her. She’d heard the elders speak of floating transport on their planet. Was it similar?

“You’re deep in thought.” Cain stood next to her at the railing.

  “Where sleep?”

Cain pointed. “See those net things hanging there? They are hammocks. I’ll show you.” He walked to one, pulled it apart and lay in it to show her.

“Oh.” It only looked big enough for one person. That meant she couldn’t sleep in his arms. Cain told her he’d been lucky to find this boat and a captain willing to take them so far up the river. There were two men. The other one took over steering the boat sometimes. Cain said he’d paid them enough that they would wait for them. It wasn’t a big boat and it was quite fast. Without the encumbrance of having to hide or scramble around trees and thick foliage, it would travel much faster than they could have done by land.

Cain retrieved a gadget from his belongings. It was a camera, he told her. The pictures he took, of the shoreline, of villages, but also of her, fascinated her. She could see them on a little screen.

“You can make holo pictures?” she asked.

  “I wish.”

“My mother has a crystal. It is powered by sunlight and it shows holo pictures, like on your TV.”
