The boy continued to struggle wildly against the restraining grips on each arm while Ryan rubbed his eyes and sighed. Finally, with slow deliberation, he reached out and removed the knit cap, freeing cascades of luxuriant golden-rose curls.

  “I feared as much,” he murmured, arching a brow. “Miss Raveneau, do you really think it safe to venture out of the house so late at night? I doubt that your parents would approve.”
