“I’m stoked!” Madi said buckling her seatbelt over her light gray dress. I couldn’t tell what kind of pattern this one had, but she did have gym shoes on. I also had my gym shoes on with a pair of jean shorts, tank top, and had my hair in a ponytail. It wasn’t supposed to be to warm today but all the walking around would make it warmer for us. Bailey wanted to wear matching outfits, so we did the best to match the color of our tank tops, which were light blue.

“I haven’t even pulled away from the curb,” I teased.

“I’m stoked also, Madi Buckle!” Bailey yelled from the back seat. She still didn’t know where we were going. Since Madi had won the tickets, we decided to make a girls’ day out of it. I had suggested it to Bailey a few weeks ago so this was perfect.

Madi was feeding me directions since she’d been there a few times. This was the first for me, and I’m sure Bailey also.

  “Madi?” Bailey asked.

“Huh?” she said twisting in her seat to look at her.

“Is Madi short for anything? Like Madison.”

  “Nope. It’s just Madi.”

  “What about your middle name?”

“Reese,” she answered and then sat back in her seat.

  “Madi Reese Buckle,” Bailey whispered.

I had to finally ask, “Why do you call people by their full names, Bailey?”

I saw her shrug her small shoulders in the rear view mirror and then focused back on the road. “I like knowing people. I hear their name and I kind of feel like I just know them better. I like to know everything about them I guess. I just like how it sounds.”

“That’s cool,” Madi and I said at the same time.

Because it was early, we had the windows down the whole way there. Bailey slept for about an hour and then had her arm rested on the opened windowsill, letting her hand play in the wind. Every time I looked at her, she was smiling.

The closer we got to the parking lot of Six Flags, the more Bailey paid attention. Her eyes went wide when she realized where we were. When I finally found a parking spot, we all scrambled out of the car, anxious to stretch our stiff legs. We stared at the skyscraper-tall rollercoasters in awe, letting the excited shrieks, peals of laughter, and slamming car doors float over us like the park’s personal soundtrack. Bailey grabbed my hand and squeezed it, softly bouncing, anxious to finally get inside. I saw that the parking lot was about half full already, with swarms of kids, teenagers, and adults making their way to the entrance. I tried to time it just right so we would get here right when it opened. People were walking into the park under the huge Six Flags sign. There were no lines yet, so that was nice.

“I’ve never been to one,” Bailey whispered, breaking the silence.

“Me either,” I replied looking down at her.

  “Really?”

  “Nope.”

Her lips turned into a huge smile. “I’m glad it you that’s taking me, Adalyn Anderson.”

That touched my heart and I knew then that I loved her. I’d do anything for her. She grabbed Madi’s hand and we were off. We couldn’t get enough of the rides, and our smiles were infectious, making my face hurt from laughing and screaming so much. There were a few rides Madi and I had to go on alone because of height issues and so one of us could stay with Bailey, but it all worked out. A majority of them we were all able to go on together. Bailey made sure to call her dad and filled him in on what we were doing. She talked his ear off, excitedly gushing about every minute detail for about twenty minutes before we got her to hang up. We took tons of pictures and vowed we’d come back next summer.

We got home much later, after dark, and Bailey had crashed on the way home. I tucked her into bed since Rudd was already sleeping. I washed my face, brushed my teeth, and took my contact out. I had been doing that lately; not wearing it around the house at night. I smiled when I saw the real me, and then crawled into bed next to Rudd. He was only wearing a pair of boxers and his arm tightened around me as he shifted a little. I adored his daughter, and for the first time in my life, I thought about what it might like to have my own family. Get married. Have kids. These were all starting to feel like a possibility for me. I tilted my head up just a bit so I could look at Rudd. I placed my hand over his heart to feel it beating away at a steady pace. I was falling hard and fast for him. He was a handsome man, kind, loving, and such a wonderful father. His relationship with Bailey was growing strong and so was ours.

It was amazing, but sometimes I felt like I was living a fantasy. I very gently pinched Rudd’s stomach and nothing happened. I chuckled at myself for being silly, then trailed my finger along his abs. They were hard, his skin soft and smooth to the touch. I watched my fingers trail down to the muscle that shaped into a V and disappeared into his boxers.

“Adalyn,” his chest rumbled and I froze, “as much as I love that, you have to stop.”

I pulled my hand back and tucked it between us. “Sorry.”

“Don’t be, I just can’t do anything about it at the moment.”

  “Are you okay?”

“I took a few of those pills,” he slurred.

I sat up on my arm and his eyes slightly opened. “How many?”

  “A few.”

“You’re only supposed to take one,” I said full of concern. “Should I call the doctor?”

A sloppy grin graced his masculine face that was full of stubble. “I was hurting so bad… but I’m fine. Just can’t move at the moment.”

“Okay.” I tucked back into his side.

  “We’ll finish this tomorrow.”

“Can I touch you tomorrow?” I whispered sliding my hand across his chest and getting comfortable.

“You can do whatever you want,” he slurred and the end of his sentence was almost unrecognizable. His breathing evened out and it was enough to put me to sleep.

  Chapter 16

The anticipation drove me crazy all day. After work, I baked some cookies for the people down at the police station – this time I tripled the batch. It helped pass the time and kept my thoughts off what would happen later. What if I chickened out and didn’t touch him? Or, what if I do it wrong and he doesn’t like it? My nerves were shot.

Tonight was Rudd’s night with Bailey and they had spent most of the day outside and were now watching a movie. Bailey had invited me, from what Rudd said, but I needed to get the cookies done since I’d promise Margie them a few days ago. I waited for my text message letting me know she was sleeping and I gave myself a pep talk all the way downstairs.

Maybe nothing would happen at all.

Maybe I was nervous for no reason.

I walked into the house, the only light came from the small night light in the living room. I shut and locked the door before making my way slowly towards his room. I locked his door and went straight to the bathroom where he was waiting for me, only wearing his boxers.

I started to panic. He was already hard.

“How’s your shoulder?” I asked standing in front of him, feeling a bit awkward. I crossed my arms on my chest and kept eye contact.

  “Great.”

  “Good.”

I focused so hard on not looking at him, that he started to laugh at me.

“I remember what you said last night.”

Great. Now I was completely embarrassed.

“It’s ok,” he continued. “You want to touch me, here I am.” He moved closer and I tipped my head back. “You want to crawl in bed and watch a movie, that’s what we’ll do. No pressure, baby.”

“What if I do it wrong?”

Ignoring my question, he pulled on the hem of my shorts. “Off.” I slipped them off, never breaking eye contact. He turned me around and patted the counter, and I slid myself onto it. The counter felt cool against my bare legs and goosebumps broke out across my thighs. Rudd stood in front of me. I couldn’t help but look. His cock was right there, hard and pushing against his boxers.

I licked my lips and looked at him, involun
tarily spreading my legs; my body knew exactly what it wanted. He stepped between them and put his hand in my hair. He gripped it slightly, and then slammed his lips to mine. My hands were all over him as our kiss grew faster, desperate and hungry for more. Want and need replaced my nerves. Rudd let go of my hair and the next thing I knew he slid two fingers inside of me.

  “Fuck.”

I panted for air; he thrust inside of me again. His thumb hitting my clit every time he pushed in. It was hard to concentrate on anything else but the feeling of him being inside of me, and building me up. His fingers worked me, growing faster by the second, and I felt my toes begin to curl, my muscles letting me know my orgasm was about to hit me.

“Rudd.” I took a quick breath of air as it hit, and my eyes squeezed shut. My orgasm pulsated out of me, my clit throbbing.

“Breath, baby,” Rudd whispered and I opened my eyes as I was coming back down.

“I…okay.” I worked on my breathing and realized my hands were on his hips. I didn’t think, I just slid my hand over his cock and he moaned.

“Adalyn,” he warned and looked down at my hand.

I pulled at the side of his boxers and freed him. My mouth dropped open. He was much larger and thicker than my tutor was.

I slowly moved my trembling hand down him and he continued to watch. He was smooth and had a little bit of hair. I ran my hand over the tip, feeling a little bit of his precum and rubbed it around the head. His hand was on my shoulder, and it was his turn for him to dig his fingers into me.

I didn’t mind. The look in his eyes melted my nerves and self-doubting thoughts, I was ready for this.

I scooted to the edge of the counter so I could grip him better and stroke him a few more times.

“Fuck.” He popped his head and gave me a quick hard kiss. “I’m going to come.”

I smirked. “That’s the point, right?”

  “Faster, baby.”

I picked up the pace and he went back to watching my hand work him. More cum came out and it helped me stoke him faster. I had no idea what I was doing, but I decided to use both hands. It couldn’t hurt.

“Fuck.” His hips jerked and I tried to go faster. He came hard, squirting all over my hands. It was warm and silky, and I kept going. I knew this was the good part, letting it all out. He kissed me again, hard and rough, holding only my head so I couldn’t break away while he finished. It was a good feeling knowing I got him off and I was starting to ache again between my legs.

He finally let me go and we both were gasping for air. “Priceless.”

  “Yeah,” I breathed.

“Thanks for taking the contact out, beautiful.”

  “I feel like myself.”

  “And you should.”

Rudd grabbed a towel and wet part of it. He cleaned himself off, then the floor. I slid off the counter and washed my hands. Rudd came up behind me and pressed himself against my ass. He was still semi-hard and tugged on the bottom of my tank top. I grinned as I reached down and helped him take it off. His hand came around my back and cupped my breast. My nipples were already hard, and the motion of his thumb rubbing against it sent chills down my spine. I made eye contact with him in the mirror, his eyes full of desire, as I’m sure mine were also.

He ran his hand down between my legs and slightly pushed inside of me.

“I want you. So. Bad.” He kissed my shoulder, then my neck, never taking his eyes from mine. He pushed inside of me again and I bit my lip.

“Watch yourself, baby.” He pulled his fingers out and I was confused for a second until he entered me from behind. He pushed two fingers inside of me and I looked at myself in the mirror. My face was flushed, half my hair was hanging out of my ponytail, and I had a small smile on my swollen lips.

This time when he pushed in his thumb, his cock slid up beside my ass and I wasn’t sure how I felt about it. He didn’t pushed in, just kept rubbing along the sides, and the more he did it, the more I liked it. I grasped the sink, desperately needing something to hang onto before I fell over.

“Beautiful,” he whispered in my ear, thrusting his fingers harder.

I caught his eye in the mirror. “Rudd.”

“Look baby.” He jerked his chin to the mirror and I looked at myself. But not for long, I couldn’t help it. As the warmth started to spread through my body, my eyes slammed shut; my orgasm completely consumed me. I opened them as soon as I could, and I panted and rocked against his hand as it started to fade. My legs were shaking and felt like jelly.

“Rudd,” I said after he pulled his fingers out of me. I was still high and full of all kinds of emotions. I wasn’t sure what it was like to have a man love me, but I knew the difference between having sex and making love. There was a connection between us, and not just because he was inside of me. It was more.

He said nothing after tasting me on his hands, but he didn’t have too. I could tell by the grin on his face that he was more than pleased.

I turned around and watched him pull his boxers on, and then he grabbed my clothes.

  “I don’t know if I can walk,” I said with a smile.

“Good.” He winked at me and jerked his head to the toilet. “You need to clean up?”

I nodded and slowly made my way to the toilet and he pulled the door so it was halfway closed. I can’t imagine how it’s going to feel when we have sex for the first time. I might just cry if it’s anything like what just happened.

  ***

The next day at work, all I could think about was Rudd. His fingers. His cock. The three best orgasms of my life. I messed up a few times of work because of it, but quickly corrected the problem. I tried to focus on work the rest of the day. Around nine-thirty, shortly before we closed, I heard the door ding, and I stopped cleaning the register to turn around.

It was Jacobs, Madi’s neighbor. I instantly felt on edge, wondering why in the world he was out at this time, knowing he didn’t need another light bulb.

He came right to me, with both of his hands in his pockets. He glanced around the store and I was certain he was looking for Madi.

“She’s in the back,” I told him and his focus came back to me. “How can I help you?”

“You can call me Jacobs if you want.” His tone a little harsh but he always seemed grumpy.

“Okay, Jacobs. How can I help you?”

  “I heard you can cook.”

  “Umm…”

  “Cookies. Chicken.”

My forehead wrinkled up in confusion.

  “Everyone talks in this town.”

  “Oh.”

  “Heard it’s good.”

“Thanks. The guys and Margie at the station love the cookies. I just dropped some off there today before work and heard they were already gone.”

He pulled one hand out of his overalls and rubbed his head thinking about something.

  “I’ll pay you,” he declared.

“Huh?” My eyebrows shot up as I tried to grasp what he was talking about.

“I’ve got a good pension,” he continued.

  “Ok?”

He put both of his hands out to me. I looked at them but didn’t see anything. “I’ve got that arthritis crap.” He shook them a little. “Can’t do much.”

“I’m sorry Jacobs, but I’m confused.”

“My wife passed last year, God rest her soul.”

I sucked in a breath. “I’m sorry for your loss.” I had no idea. Madi never mentioned anything.

“She was a good woman. I never really appreciated her though; everything she did for me. I should have thanked her more. I should have done so much more.” He looked at me with pain and sorrow in his eyes. “Now I can’t. My chance is gone and I have to live with that.”

“I’m so sorry, Jacobs.” I couldn’t help but hug him. He didn’t hug me back but that’s okay. He needed it even if he didn’t think he did. I stood back from him and listened to him explain more.

“She knew she didn’t have much time left and she
did what she could. She was dying and all she did was worry about me. She cooked every day, all day, until her body started to shut down. She made me meals, stored them in the freezer, the big one in the garage. All I have to do is pull one out and pop it in the microwave.”

I had a feeling I knew where this was now going.

“I’m running out of food, Adalyn. I can barely cook on my own and the food at the diner is shit.”

I smiled because it reminded me of what Rudd had told me.

“You help keep my freezer stocked. I got a good pension from the city. My wife also had a life insurance policy, so I can pay you.”

I felt bad for him but I wasn’t sure what to do. “Can I think about it?”

“You work out a schedule. Get some figures together. We’ll talk.” He took a step closer to me and lowered his voice, “I don’t want the whole town talking about me. Understood?” His tired eyes met mine and I knew how important this was to him.

I pursed my lips together and nodded.

“Not even Madi. Don’t need her meddling in my business either.”

  “I tell her everything though.”

He huffed. “Just think about it. The freezer is only half-full. I’ve been making sandwiches and buy crap food to make hers last longer.”

“Okay, Jacobs. Give me a few days to think it over.”

  “You work on Friday?”

  “No, but I do Saturday.”

“I’ll come by Saturday and visit you.”

He left before I could say anything else. I wasn’t expecting that, but it was a good way for me to make some extra money and help someone out. Even though I knew immediately I would help him, I still needed time to think about it and let it settle. I told him I’d tell Madi, but I wasn’t sure if I should. I mean, she could have told me about his wife. He had no one left. It explained so much.

  Chapter 17

I was up stairs making several batches of cookies for my new friends at the police station. At least I thought of them as friends. They seemed more interested in my cookies than getting to know me, but that was okay. I was glad they loved them so much. I baked most of the day since I wasn’t working and had to work the rest of the weekend. Jacobs was supposed to stop by the store tomorrow, and I was excited and nervous at the same time. I only discussed it with Rudd because I knew he wouldn’t say anything. He wasn’t one to gossip. He thought it was a fantastic idea, and I could use the extra income since I was spending all this money on cookie ingredients. I wanted to buy some dresses from the website Madi uses and get my savings account full again. Besides school and having a business degree, my mom shared her thoughts and concerns about saving money with me often.
