Blaine’s mind flashed back to Mika. “It might be sooner than you think, Mom.”

“Well, if I have anything to do about it, it surely will.”

“And what does that mean? Mom, please don’t try and play matchmaker. I’m more than capable of taking care of my love life.”

  Mrs. Chess just smiled.

As they were talking, Blaine’s cell phone rang. He reached into his pocket and retrieved the tiny gadget. It was his office calling.

“Hey, Jacoby, what’s going on?” Blaine asked his account manager.

“I hate to bother you, Blaine, but you forgot to sign the new contract extension.”

Lately Blaine had been multitasking at a rapid pace, trying so hard not to lose his major client that he overlooked the most important element. “Can you fax it over?”

“Normally, I would, but you know the suits on this account are extremely finicky and want all original signatures on the contract.”

Blaine and his team had worked tirelessly to keep the global cosmetics account. He had no intentions of blowing the deal now. He thought for a moment. “Jacoby can you meet me at the airport in the morning? I’ll change my ticket, so that I can fly back into Chicago before going on the second leg of my trip.”

“Sounds like a plan. Let me know what time to meet you and I’ll be there with the contract.”

“Okay.” Once Blaine disconnected the call, he phoned the airline and made the necessary changes.

  Chapter Nine

Mrs. Chess’s party had been a grand soiree. A jazz quartet played during the gourmet dinner of lobster bisque, chateaubriand with double whipped potatoes and grilled asparagus. Afterward, music was provided by a DJ who had the guests on their feet dancing and enjoying themselves until well after midnight. Well into the evening, Blaine finally had a chance to talk to Ashley.

“You know, you were my first love,” Ashley admitted while they slow danced.

Blaine was shocked at her statement. “No, I didn’t know that. Ashley, we went to junior prom together and only hooked up once while we were in college.”

“Yes, I know, but I’ve been in love with you since we were kids. Why do you think I was always hanging around your house? I do adore your mother, but I was really there to see you. Meanwhile, you didn’t give me the time of day,” she said, with a trace of sadness in her voice.

Ashley was right. Blaine hadn’t paid her much attention. He was too busy playing sports and playing the field. “So...why did you get a divorce?” he asked, changing the subject.

“The truth is, I never really loved my husband like a wife should. My heart has always been with you.”

Blaine thought he had steered the conversation away from memory lane, however she was right back on the topic. Instead of saying that he didn’t return her sentiment, he simply said, “I’m sure one day you’ll find true happiness.” He was too much of a gentleman to hurt Ashley’s feelings.

She looked lovingly into his eyes. “I’m working on it.”

After their dance and for the duration of the evening, Blaine steered clear of Ashley. He didn’t want to send her any mixed signals. He escaped to his room before the party was over and prepared for his early flight.

Back in Chicago, after meeting with his account manager and signing the contract, Blaine boarded another plane, heading off to take care of his mother’s business.

“First-class passengers are free to board at this time,” the gate agent announced.

Blaine gathered his black leather duffel, moseyed down the ramp and onto the plane. As he was putting his bag in the overhead bin, a passenger bumped against his back. He turned around and couldn’t believe his eyes.

  “Mika?”

  “Blaine?”

He immediately engulfed her in a hug. “It’s so good to see you.” He squeezed her tight. After letting her go, Blaine ran his eyes up and down her petite body. She wore a black turtlenecked sweater, black leggings and a crimson ski jacket. Her hair was pulled back into a ponytail and her face was free of makeup, except for a smear of red lipstick. Her ruby lips, made him want to kiss her right then and there, but he held back. “Wow, what are the chances of us being on the same plane?” When Blaine rearranged his flight schedule, he had no idea that fate would intervene and pair him and Mika together.

She looked at her ticket, then at the number on the row. “And what are the chances of us sitting together?”

“Here, let me take your bag.” He placed her carry-on in the bin next to his.

Mika moved to the window seat and fastened her seat belt. “Are you a skier, too?”

“Yes, I’ve been skiing since I was a kid. My parents have a condo in Vail, which is on the market now. I’m going there to meet with a potential buyer.”

  “Oh, I see.”

“I’m surprised you could get away from the shop. Whenever I’ve caught a glimpse of you at Delicious, you always seem so busy.”

“Well, this is a working vacation. I’m writing a cookbook. In between hitting the slopes, I’ll be sitting by the fire cranking out the last few chapters.”

“I hope you won’t be too busy to do a few runs with me... That is, if you can handle the Black Diamonds,” he said, with a smile.

“What? I’m the mogul queen. I’ll dust you on the slopes.”

“Okay, Ms. Mogul, we’ll see about that. My precision skis are at the condo ready to go.”

“And I’ve reserved a pair of Fischer Racing Skis, which are waiting for me at the Ski Shop.”

“Flight attendants, please prepare for takeoff,” the pilot announced.

Once they were airborne, Blaine redirected the conversation. “Mika, I truly enjoyed our time together the other night.”

A smile brightened her face. “I did, too. I surely didn’t expect the evening to end with us—” she blushed “—being naughty in the test kitchen.”

“What can I say? You brought out the bad boy in me. I hadn’t done anything like that in years.” He leaned over and whispered, “Sex with you was an unexpected treat.” He then blew a seductive breath in her ear.

She exhaled and whispered, “You wouldn’t be trying to arouse me, now, would you?”

“I sure would.” He gave her a soft kiss on the cheek. “Is it working?”

Mika looked around at the other few passengers, who were absorbed in their own worlds, either watching a movie or reading. “Yes.”

“Ladies and gentlemen, please return to your seats and fasten your seat belts. We’re heading into a severe weather pattern and may experience some turbulence,” a flight attendant announced.

Suddenly, the plane jerked to the right, and then to the left before plunging a few feet. The swift drop caused some passengers to gasp loudly. The aircraft gyrated and shook violently as if it were on an obstacle course. The turbulence let up for a few seconds only to start again. This time the plane rocked and bumped so violently that the air masks deployed. The yellow masks swung back and forth as the plane shook like a toy.

“Are you all right?” Blaine asked, with a sense of urgency in his voice.

Mika grabbed hold of his hand. “I’m scared. What if we crash?”

“We’re not going to crash. We’re just going through a patch of bad weather,” he said attempting to calmly reassure her. Blaine held tightly on to her hand as they rode through the storm.

Outwardly Blaine maintained calm, but inside he was a nervous wreck, as well. His mind flashed back on the conversation he’d had with his mother earlier, It’s not like planes drop out of the sky on a daily basis. He had made that comment after landing safely. Now that he was in the eye of a storm, the likelihood of the plane crashing and dropping out of the sky was indeed a real possibility. He gripped Mika’s hand tighter as the plane once again
jerked back and forth.

There were now screams of panic as well as passengers reciting prayers, but Blaine and Mika sat in silence as the minutes ticked past. After what seemed like hours of pure terror, the plane leveled off.

“Ladies and gentlemen, we’re now above the storm clouds and should have smooth sailing for the duration of the flight,” the pilot announced.

“That was beyond scary,” Mika said.

“You can say that again. Having your life flash before your eyes makes you realize that our time on Earth is short and you should cherish every moment.” Blaine was still holding on to her hand as he spoke.

  “I couldn’t agree more.”

“I think we need a drink after that experience.” Blaine pressed the flight attendant’s button and ordered them each a double shot of tequila on the rocks with limes.

Mika sipped her drink. “I’m feeling much better now.”

“Do you feel well enough to, uh...”

  “What?”

“Try a new experience,” he whispered.

  “Like what?”

“Like joining the Mile High Club?”

  She blushed. “Are you kidding?”

“Nope. We could have crashed, and one item I would like to mark off my bucket list is making love on a plane,” he said, looking into her eyes.

Mika cautiously looked around at the other passengers. Most of them were now having cocktails and consoling their travel companions. The flight attendants were busy moving back and forth into the galley kitchen. “Okay, but how are we going to do this without getting caught?”

“Part of the thrill is trying not to get busted. You slip in the lavatory first and I’ll follow shortly thereafter.”

  “Got it.”

Mika unhooked her seat belt, stood up, put her purse on her shoulder and made her way into the tiny bathroom. Once inside, she removed her leggings, along with her underwear and put them in her purse. She looked in the mirror at herself and smiled shyly. “What have you gotten yourself into,” she said to her reflection.

A few moments later, the narrow folding door opened and in slipped Blaine. He didn’t waste any time. He pulled her to him and kissed her ruby lips with heated passion. He wrapped her tiny frame up in his embrace, nearly lifting her from the floor. Their kisses grew more intense by the second. He abandoned her lips and trailed his tongue to her neck.

“Take that off,” he said, tugging at her turtleneck.

Mika quickly lifted the sweater over her head and tossed it on the sink. She then unhooked her bra.

Blaine massaged her petite breasts before engulfing them with his mouth. He licked and kissed each breast with tenderness until her nipples firmed in his mouth. “Turn around,” he said, taking her by the waist.

Mika did as instructed. She watched in the mirror as he removed a condom from his pocket, took off his pants and rolled on the latex.

Blaine rubbed his erect penis against her backside, teasing her with each stroke.

“You’re making me so hard,” he panted in her ear.

  “And you’re making me wet.”

“Let me see.” He reached between her legs and found her moistness. “Oh, yes.”

“See what you do to me?”

“I can’t hold back any longer. I want you so badly.” He reached around to her stomach and brought her closer to him. He entered her from behind and slowly began pumping.

Mika matched his moves, rotating her rear end so that he could move deeper inside. She gripped the tiny sink and bucked back. “Oh, yeah, that’s it!”

  “Are you coming?” he whispered.

“Yes, don’t stop, please don’t stop.”

Blaine increased the pace, pumping harder and faster until they were on the verge of an explosive ending. The tiny lavatory was filled with their essence as they gave in to each other. They panted, gasping for air as they recovered from the experience.

“I like the Mile High Club,” Mika said, smiling. She maneuvered around him and dressed in the cramped space.

Blaine kissed her on the lips. “Membership does have its privileges. I must say that we created some turbulence of our own.”

“Yes, it did feel like we were rocking the plane,” she said, smiling.

They quickly dressed and Mika exited first. Once they were back in their seats. Blaine took her hand, brought it to his lips and kissed it. They spent the remainder of the flight gazing into each other’s eyes enjoying the aftermath of their naughty little secret.

  Chapter Ten

Mika had arranged to have groceries delivered to the condo in advance. She planned on creating new recipes for the cookbook, but now she had another use for the chocolate. Once they landed, she and Blaine shared a taxi. Ironically, his mother’s condominium was in the same complex as her rented condo. After their near-death experience in the air and making love on the plane, neither of them wanted to leave the other’s side, so Mika invited Blaine over to her place.

The two-bedroom condo was comfortably furnished with overstuffed sofas and a bearskin rug, which lay in front of a stone fireplace with fresh firewood on the side.

“Why don’t you start a fire, while I whip up something to eat,” Mika told him, once they had settled in.

“No problem. I’ll have you to know that I’m a master fire builder.”

Mika came up and kissed him on the lips. “You’re a man of many talents.”

“Yes I am and you’ve only seen a few.” He winked.

“I can’t wait to see them all.”

He hugged her close, kissing her back. “You will, my dear. One at a time.”

Before Mika made her way into the kitchen, she watched as Blaine took a few pieces of wood, layered them with newspaper and started a roaring fire.

In addition to her confectionary skills, Mika was a great cook of savory foods. In no time, she had prepared a light dinner of grilled salmon, sautéed spinach and orzo. For dessert, she combined dark chocolate with vanilla beans, heavy cream and honey. She stirred the concoction until it was creamy smooth, and then removed the pot from the stove.

“Hmm, something sure smells good in here,” Blaine said, coming up from behind and hugging her around the waist.

She turned around and gave him a sweet kiss on the lips. “I hope you’re hungry.”

“Yep, hungry for you,” he said, returning her kiss.

Mika wiggled out of his embrace and prepared their plates. As they ate at the black marble counter in the kitchen, Mika stole glances at Blaine. She couldn’t believe that she was actually having dinner with him in Vail of all places. A few days before, Mika had resigned herself to the fact that she might not ever hear from him again. She had totally forgiven him for not calling the day after their first night together. Joining the Mile High Club had brought them even closer together. Everything was moving at such a fast pace. She thought about slowing things down, but after experiencing what could have been a fatal plane crash, Mika realized that life was too short to not enjoy every moment.

“Would you care for seconds?” she asked, once he had finished.

“No. I’m ready for dessert now.” He winked.

“Me, too, and I have just the treat for us,” she said, standing up and clearing the table.

  “Is it a chocolate treat?”

“You’ll see, but in order to taste this dessert, you’ll need to wear your birthday suit.”

“Oh, I like this treat already.”

“I’ll meet you on the bearskin rug in a few minutes.”

Blaine went back into the living room, while Mika poured the warm chocolate mixture into a ceramic bowl. Before turning off the kitchen lights, she disrobed, put her clothes on the back of the chair and made her way toward Blaine.

  The living room w
as aglow with shades of amber reflecting off of the cream-colored walls from the roaring fire. Mika could feel the warmth of the flames as she knelt down on the plush bearskin rug next to Blaine’s naked body. He was lying on his side, and she could see the rippled muscles along his back. Clearly he worked out on a regular basis. “Hey, there,” she whispered.

Blaine turned around to face her. “Wow! You’re beautiful. The glow of the fire is making your skin look like chocolate. I just want to taste you.” Blaine licked her taut stomach.

“Hold on. I’ll taste even better with this.” Mika took a spoonful of the mixture and poured some over her breasts.

Blaine stuck out his tongue and tasted her liquid-chocolate-covered nipples. He sucked them until the sweet confection was gone. “Hmm, I’m liking your version of dessert.” He took the bowl out of her hands. “Lay down.”

Mika stretched out on the rug and closed her eyes. She inhaled and exhaled slowly, anticipating his next move.

Blaine stirred the mixture with his finger before drizzling it down the entire length of her body. He then massaged the rich thick chocolate into her skin, starting with her breasts, down to her stomach and in between her legs. He leaned over and covered her most private area with his mouth and started licking passionately.

  “Ohhh,” she moaned.

  “Does that feel good?”

  “Ohh! Yess!”

Chocolate begin oozing down the inside of her thigh as he slowly kissed it off. Blaine then focused his attention on her lady parts and increased the friction of his tongue. He didn’t stop until she yelled out in ecstasy.

“Ohh... You’re going to make me come!”

Blaine didn’t say a word, instead he continued passionately licking and sucking her clit.

Mika was on fire and couldn’t hold back any longer. Although her dream of him performing oral sex was hot, the reality was even hotter.

Blaine didn’t stop until her sweet juices released in his mouth.

“I’m coming. I’m coming!” she screamed out.

Blaine leaned up on his elbow and wiped around his mouth. “Mmm, you taste good.”
