Psyatoan's Aperture

I was dumbfounded by Tessa’s gesture. That pendant was a gift from her great-grandfather who secretly made it for his wife, while he worked at NASA.

There was a small diamond in the center that Tessa cherished. It was from the ring of her great-grandmother’s father.

“OK, I’m ready,” Tessa said, setting the pendant down on top of the S.E.S.I. terminal. As we slid the terminal through the aperture, there was absolutely no resistance between our two realms.

After slowly standing, the Psyatoan proceeded to examine the terminal and pendent, slowly listening to our messages. As we continued to look around the grounds, we could now see hundreds if not thousands of people.

The news helicopters were like locusts now on all sides of the monoliths. Tessa squeezed my hand looking me straight in the eye before returning her focus to the aperture.

They’re now rejoicing in our decisions. We blissfully gazed into the Psyatoan realm. We knew this was going to be either the inception to the rebirth of our self-reflection as a species, ending the arrogance of man, or a whole new visceral understanding of the contempt man has for anything greater than himself.

Someone once told me, ‘man will always hide behind a supernatural source of evil to define the hollow, soulless, and human emotions of man’s own actions’.

In the end, we always hide behind the illusion of intelligence. We marvel at our creation as a species. Yet the reprehensible arrogance of man’s belief of superior evolution will always taint the opus of our intended existence.

Thankfully, we weren't left to our own paranoid delusions. The decision was theirs, and what they set forth was as beautiful as a sublime mixture of melody and magic, something man could only dream of creating.
