  Meanwhile, I worked on the actual suspension configuration. I was easily able to get my hands behind me with forearms parallel. I even figured out how to get ropes tight around my chest, holding my upper arms tight against my ribs. Doing my legs was a no-brainer. My only problem with tying my legs back to my thighs was that when I did this, I sometimes got terrible cramps in my legs and needed to release the bindings quickly. Using this hemp rope, I practiced tying ankles to thighs, keeping my legs apart in a V. It did not take long to establish the right amount of tension on the leg ropes so that I was less likely to get cramps and circulation would not be seriously effected unless I stayed there for a long time. My plan included a suspension period of several hours, but that was still not decided.

  Practicing the chest and arm bondage was more difficult. I had to make rope loops exactly the right size so that once I put them in place around my chest, I could slide my arms into the loops and tighten them just enough to hold me immobilized. Easier said than done, I discovered. Finding a way to cinch these around the torso ropes was an even greater challenge and I had to settle for thick rubber bands made from inner tubes. These, when applied to the ropes, gave a bit to allow me to place my arms into the ropes and then the elastic pulled them tight. I also figured out that as I was raised upwards, I could have ropes attached to weights or rings in the floor. These ropes would tighten as I went higher. This was a great idea and I worked out the exact lengths of rope needed to pull everything tight when I was, for example, four feet off the floor. If I needed more tension, I could raise myself a few inches or even a foot higher. The gag and internal vibrators were no problem and I elected to control the winches, two of them, with a pair of remotes, which I taped to my hands. The twin winches lifted one set of ropes on my waist and legs and the other lifted my upper body and waist. With this arrangement, I would not rotate once the winches engaged. Slowly spinning in the suspension appealed to me, but once again, I thought that I could adapt for this later if I wanted to.

  Finally, after three months work, I was ready for my vacation. I made sure that everyone I knew was aware that I was going away for a few weeks. I told them the destination was a secret, but gave letters to my two closest friends and told them that if they didn't hear from me in ten days to open the envelope and they would then have information on where I was and how to reach me. I think that both women assumed I was going away with some guy, so it was a great sport kidding me about who and what this was all about. The day came when I shut the house up, canceled mail and newspapers, made sure all my bills were paid up and disappeared out the front door with empty luggage. I made sure one neighbor, who was much too nosey, saw me leave and waved to him. I took my car to the airport, then took a cab back into town where I checked my empty bags with a hotel holding service, then waited in a nearby bar until it was dark. I walked to my house, making sure that I was not seen or noticed, entered the basement through a window I left open and set to work.

  My special area of the basement was secluded and in the center of the house. There were no windows in the room that had previously been used as a work out and weight room. It was perfect. The bright and shiny suspension fittings on the ceiling beckoned me and the new and tested winches seemed to be inviting me to let them lift me up.

  From the rafter fixtures, I had suspended an aluminum I beam with two winches that could move along its length. From each winch hung a single chain with a large hook. When lowered to nearly floor level, where I lay wrapped in a web of rope, the hooks were easy to attach to the web. Pushing the "up" button on the remote started me towards the ceiling. The ropes pulled on my body in several places, forcing me to remain stretched out with legs apart, the multiple strands of hemp rope cutting into my sex, clutching my waist and slicing across my breasts. My arms were well secured and only my hands had any motion remaining. As the rope web stressed under my weight, the wrist ropes pulled tighter. I moaned into the gag and settled in for what I knew would be a long night.

  Another variation of this same suspension involves using chains instead of rope, but the technique is the same. Wrapped in yards of locked, medium steel chain, I lie on the floor, gagged and, in this case, hooded. My upper arms are cuffed and chained and when the lifting begins, the chain between my arms pulls up and the elbows come nicely together. As with the rope, I cheat by joining the wrist cuffs with snap hooks instead of locks, but the effect is more than acceptable.

  Chapter Thirteen

  This session is a how-to for making

  and using spreader bars and related gear.

  Alexis - Spreader bars

  For me, having my legs and arms held wide apart has always had tremendous appeal. I got my first spreader bar while I was still living at home. It was in fact an expandable, spring-loaded bar that was intended to be used as a chinning bar, placed in a doorway. I drilled out the hollow metal tube at both ends and linked handcuffs to the ends with split rings. Once I was in the cuffs, there was really no way out. That in itself was a tremendous rush. With two of these bars, one on my feet and the other on my wrists, I was helpless. I really loved it.

  But you are going to ask how could I get out of this self-imposed restraint? What was my secret? Here's how I escaped: First, I always made sure there were several keys in the area where I was playing. I was naked and gagged, but I could see the keys. The problem was to get a key in one hand and then reach the other hand two or three feet away, clamped to the other end of the spreader bar. The secret was that the bar was spring-loaded. Under normal conditions, its spring pushed the ends outward, stretching my arms and keeping me locked up tight while I struggled. But, if I put my weight on the bar, it compressed just enough for me to get the long cuff key into the opposite wrist. Setting this up took time and patience, but isn't that what self-bondage is all about? If you do it impulsively, without a plan, you are going to get into trouble.

  On one occasion, when I was still essentially testing this method, I extended the bar too far so that no matter how much I leaned on it with all my weight and strength, I could not reach my other wrist cuff. The saving solution to this desperate situation came in the form of a longer cuff key. It was only perhaps an inch longer, but that length made the critical difference and with a lot of sweat and cursing into my gag, I got free. Lessons learned: Keep a variety of escape devices close by and test, test, test each time before you close the last lock.

  A different version of spreader bar is much simpler and doesn't take an engineering degree to create. I use dowels of various lengths and thickness and attach leather cuffs to the ends with ordinary wood screws and washers to hold the cuffs in place. The cuffs have two buckles on each one and the trick is not only to get out, but to get into them in the first place. By carefully measuring, testing and adjusting the leather cuffs beforehand, I can set them up so that with considerable effort I can just barely slide my hands into them and play for a long time, struggling as I will, without my hands coming out. When its time to escape, I use an aerosol can of cooking spray, like PAM, to coat my wrist and hands and then they slip out quite easily. Of course, I can always cut the leather, but that would ruin the set up and I'd have to rebuild it again.

  I use other wooden and metal bars for different functions. For example, I am in chains with the usual set-up from ankles to waist to wrists to collar. My hands are in front, allowing me considerable movement, but I have attached a horizontal, 30-inch long wooden bar to a chain dangling down from the back of my collar. The length of the connection chain from collar to bar determines where the bar hangs and it needs to be about mid way between my shoulder blades and my waist so that it comes easily into play with my backward-pulled elbows. This position for the hanging bar must be reasonably correct so that, before I lock my wrists into the cuffs in front, I slip the bar behind my elbows, pulling the connection chain tight and holding my arms back. Also, as we all know, it tends to thrust the chest outward as well, helping to set off the nipple clips with their bells or weights. Then, I lock on th
e final cuff in front. If it is done right, I have minimal movement, with arms held strictly back and connected upwards to my collar and hands bound in close to my waist, connected by a chain in front. To get free, I have to push the bar aside enough to release one elbow. Then the other elbow comes free and I have use of my still bound hands to get keys and freedom. I especially enjoy this position because it has infinite variations. I can lock ankles and legs close together and then finish the binding, forcing myself to stand or lie very much immobilized, or I can leave some slack in the leg chains and walk around the room or the house as much as I please. Adding other devices, like a vaginal dildoe or butt plug, head harness or nipple clips just enhances the experience.

  Another function for short bars is the crotch splitter. It does just what its name indicates. I use rope or chain to suspend one end of the bar from my waist, or better yet, from the collar, pass it between my legs so that when I pull up on the front it presses well against my crotch and anything that may already be up my ass or pussy. I then connect my already cuffed hands to the front of the bar and there you have it, a very pleasant way to spend the afternoon, waltzing around with this thick wooden or metal bar jammed between your legs. I get out of it of course, by having the cuff keys in a reachable place. As always, there are other ways to do this and some of them can be quite captivating. That is, if I get too cute, I may not be able to get out of it without a lot of sweat and struggling. For example, I can position the bar more aggressively by tying or chaining it to my ankle bindings as well as to my collar and wrists. If I do this right, I will have tension downward front and back from the chains that go to my feet and tension upwards to the collar front and back as well.

  Want more thrills? Do the same set-up but put the final upward chain or rope to your nipple rings. If you haven’t got rings in there yet, use sturdy nipple clips. Once your hands are neatly locked up and you start to move around, the nipple connection, as I call it, will ring your chimes thoroughly. Whatever you do with this and the other arrangements mentioned here, take your time and build the position up gradually. Don't make it too hard on yourself.

  There is one other use for the bars. I again would use sturdy, 3/4 inch (or more), wooden dowels and put screw eyes in the ends by first drilling the holes to take the threads of the screw eyes so that you don't split the wood. Once the eyes are in, you have a neat device for any number of disciplinary purposes. Either lying down on my back or standing, I can use the large, type C cuffs to clamp my legs spread apart or I use chain dog collars around my legs above the knee, locking them tight with padlocks. Locked to the eyes at each end of the bar, this holds my knees apart and can be integrated with other bondage to improve the experience. No one who enjoys self-bondage should be without these inexpensive bars. Each time you dig them out of your stash, you'll find new uses for them and, of course, they are equally helpful when, lucky you, there is a partner to share the experience with.

  Chapter Fourteen

  Fran - Butt plugs and dildoes

  In my humble opinion, there is no substitute for a man, (or a woman), screwing me while I'm tightly and immovably bound. But….there are times when that is simply not going to happen and when those times come along, it's nice to have a substitute you can trust.

  I'm not sure how it was that I got to discuss this topic, but it certainly is of interest to me and I think it is likewise for many other bondage fans like me. It's hard now, after a few years of SB, to imagine being tied up or placing myself in chains without at least having something long and fat stuck well up inside my front and back below. I can't imagine anyone bothering to bind himself or herself without setting up some sort of sexual outlet and deep internal probes certainly do it for me. For guys, I have been told and shown some external gadgets that simulate a pussy and they tell me these may serve the same purpose, but I'll let someone else deal with this. My collection of dongs almost outnumbers my collection of pre-cut rope and collars. Yes, I am a rope girl. I like the fact that I can tie myself and always have the option of getting free, even if I have to cut the rope, which doesn't happen very often.

  For me, there are really only two types of devices that I will insert into my body for sexual release: static and mechanical. The static ones are inert, usually made from hard or soft rubber or plastic or some new material that wears well is non-toxic and can be kept clean without major effort. The mechanical ones usually cost more, operate by battery, plug in AC power or, just for fun, wind-up springs. One of my favorites is a mechanical phallus that is operated like a clock. It has two timers: one for when it starts up and one for how long it runs. It was made in Switzerland and I cannot find another like it anywhere. I set the timer and it operates every fifteen minutes, or ten minutes or whatever time I set it for.

  Another wonderful device is electric and is called a "Gang Vibe." I bought it at a sort of street fair in Rome and it is typically Italian with its strange little quirks and somewhat redundant functions. The battery pack/base unit fits easily on my belt and has wire leads that go to the places where I seek the stimulation. It's electrical, but not strong. At the end of each wire is a small metal clip which handily fits over a nipple or on the edge of a lip or nostril or tongue. Each clip receives a short impulse from the base unit and these jolts are at times very subtle…like blowing cool air on the place where they are clipped. At other times, the impulse will blow me out of my shoes and I never know what it is going to do.

  Each one of these gadgets has its own lovable characteristics and I must admit that over time, one gets attached to such artificial stimulation, even if the real thing is available. What I mean by that is that even if I'm tied and getting fucked in a "normal" way, being able to enhance the experience with a butt plug, dildoe or electric charge remains a very viable option for me and usually for my partner.

  Among my favorite mechanical devices is a combination tool that has double appendages and fits nicely up both portals, is battery driven and not only vibrates with a vengeance, but also has a fascinating and mind-bending rotary motion what involves a mass of hard beads inside a flexible and very lifelike prick. This thing drives me crazy normally, but when I'm really tied tight, with, for example, my hands pulled up over my head, a huge gag stuffed in my mouth and my legs tied either close together or wide spread, it is formidable. I do this often in my apartment, tying my hands to a ring in the rafter in the ceiling and standing upright in a pair of tall heels, high, black stockings, garter belt and perhaps a black, lacy push up bra.

  I have to mention that the great variety of materials available for personal pleasure is exceeded only perhaps, by the range of imagination that we all have in our heads. Aside from the usual plastic, wood, rubber and metal devices, others worth consideration are made from Pyrex glass, soapstone or granite, or even live fruits and vegetables. As one character attending this meeting said yesterday, the value of the live objects is that, if you want to, you can eat them later. That idea may not appeal to some, but it does pose some interesting possibilities. A partly cooked, nice, warm zucchini is not altogether an impossible consideration for a post bondage snack!

  One useful concept that I use now and then is an inflatable device that can be inflated once it is inside the orifice. Whether you use it to stretch the inner confines of your mouth, your pussy or your ass, it can have a stunning impact on your total SB experience. The same cautions apply to inflatables as to other objects, but if there is someone else pumping up the device, you need to make sure that you have a strong safe move. Getting over-inflated can be dangerous as Hell and equally uncomfortable, believe me.

  Since we are participating in research, it is essential that I talk a bit about what one gets out of this sort of activity. Being tied up has all of its own benefits a
nd thrills, but with a foreign object or two or three jammed inside your body, the impact of the bondage may be greater…or lesser. The mental image, of course, is one of having sex while helplessly bound. I can only speak for myself, but that's the scenario I indulge in. Whether its intercourse by consent or forcible in your mind, the deep penetration of various body orifices by a static or moving device has got to have its effects. I find that I seem to identify with the penetration as I would with a live being on the other end of the object, but the big difference is that this penetrator is totally within your control, and that is the essence of all of this, as far as I'm concerned.

  Chapter Fifteen

  Lois wrote on her questionnaire that she usually has a specific fantasy in mind before she begins an SB session.

  Self-bondage for me is probably at the low end of what is practiced among most people who enjoy the process. What I mean by this is that I am not interested in being hopelessly bound and gagged in the tightest possible manner. My interest is more, I think, ethereal. I enjoy the idea of capture, slavery, servitude under some handsome brigand or desert chieftain, but in carrying out the fantasy, I want the bindings to be loose and more symbolic than actual. This doesn't mean that I don't want to be chained or tied, but I get most pleasure out of the combination of the bindings and the imaginary situation than I do from just the bindings.

  My "collection" as the survey phrases it, is mostly everyday items that no one would ever consider indicative of bondage. Scarves, tight-fitting and revealing clothing that I would not normally wear in public, belts, panty hose and a few items from the bathroom's medicine cabinet usually serve me well enough. I have a few belts that have holes their entire length, so they can be tightened to any position. Some of them are really collars and two of them have neat little locks that I use for extended scenes, usually on weekends.
