A Cold Spell

“Does that mean that I am forgiven?” I asked unsurely.
“Well, not quite forgiven. But I don’t see why an innocent cat has to pay the price.”
I stepped back and watched while Geri closed her eyes and whispered the magic words. I barely dared to hope that it would work, and for a moment, as Indy lay perfectly still, I didn’t think it had.
But she was just being lazy.
In a few seconds, she was blinking and slowly getting to her feet, looking at me lazily as I jumped up and down and hugged Geri.
“But how did you…”
“I spoke to Beth,” she explained. “She told me how to reverse it. On the condition that I consider letting her join the coven after all. We will put it to a group vote,” she said.
I knew that a lot of things were about to change.
But all that mattered in that moment was that I had my cat back.
Indy jumped into my lap and purred. Not a witch’s cat in that moment. Just a regular, sweet little kitty.
