  Lindy watched as the healers went to work making the repairs. Zara had left, but Lesak was still there. He sat in a chair on the other side of the room closest to the door.   “He may not complete the tour if you decide to not go with him.”

  “He’s beginning to bond with you. Everything in him is telling him he needs to be near you. He may actually suffer if you were parted from him.”

  That was a lot of responsibility to place on a person. She’d only known him for what—a day? “I’ll talk to him about it.”

  Lesak sighed with frustration. “Did you eat?” He stood and ran a hand through his salt and pepper hair.

  Lindy shook her head. “I didn’t have time before I was brought here. Talon and I were going to eat together after the fight.”

  “I’ll get you something.” He didn’t wait to even ask her what she would like to eat.

  She wouldn’t complain though. He was being sort of nice to her, so she would eat whatever he brought her. She leaned forward and touched Talon’s hair gently. “What have you done to me?” she whispered to him.

  Chapter Seven

  Lindy was really drowsy. She opened her eyes and fought the unsettling disorientation that she felt. She tried to focus her thoughts. She had been in the Healing Facility with Talon. After Lesak brought her a huge steak sandwich, she found herself falling asleep in the chair bedside Talon. She kept hold of his hand as she gave in to her exhaustion.

  Chapter Eight

  Two Weeks Later

  Lindy, Sersan, Alona, and Resa all strolled together down the sidewalk that traveled through the small city inside the spaceport they were at for the upcoming GCFA Circuit fight. She carried bags from some of the shops that they had stopped at. It was great getting out with girls and doing girly things.

  Talon didn’t like her going anywhere without him. He pretty much kept her to himself the past two weeks. Lindy got to a breaking point. She was putting on an old outfit, sick of wearing it, and everything else that had been in her suitcase. She had a minor blow out. She told him if he didn’t let her get out and shop for new things, then she would be leaving on the next available shuttle to go home. He immediately called Alona and asked if she would take Lindy shopping after the morning training session. He wanted to go with her but the men’s training session had been extended. Alona asked Sersan if she wanted to come, too. Resa overheard them talking and invited herself.

  “Talon is going to love the red nightie,” Resa told her. They were headed to a nearby restaurant for lunch.

  “I hope so. It’s not really made for sleeping in,” Lindy replied, making all the women laugh. They found a table that faced the windows.

  “I wasn’t sure if Talon would let you out of his sight. He’s kept you hostage this whole time,” Alona complained. Alona was an Arian halfsie like Talon. She was a little shorter than Lindy with beautiful blond hair and delicate facial features.

  “He wasn’t going to let me out until I threatened him.”

  Sersan looked at her in shock. “You threatened to hurt him?”

  “No, of course not. I threatened to go home if he didn’t let me out to buy new clothes.” Lindy reassured her.

  Resa laughed. “Well, I’m glad he did. How about dinner with Tipin and me tonight? You keep promising but never follow through.”

  Lindy had heard the rumors about Tipin and Resa. They were swingers and enjoyed group sex. Every time Resa asked her to come over for dinner, Lindy used Talon as an excuse. She just wasn’t sure how to turn the other woman down without offending her.

  The long day of shopping had tired her out. She was ready to go back to the GCFA ship. She had an appointment with the healers, which she had rescheduled twice now. It was time for her to get her birth control shot. Usually she would get the shot every three months, but she had missed getting the shot on time.

  She was in a hurry to get back to Talon. She missed him when she wasn’t with him. She had called her family and friends after breakfast to let them know she was doing well. They weren’t thrilled when she told them that she planned on going on the circuit with Talon. Her father and uncle were threatening to come after her. But her mother stepped in on her behalf, saying that as long as Lindy was happy, then she was fine with things. Of course, her mom was grilling her on when she was going to bring Talon by for them to meet. She wasn’t sure if they were at that stage yet.

  They stood outside the restaurant waiting for the shuttle they called for to pick them up. Lindy got that creepy feeling that someone was watching her. She had felt that way many times over the last week. Especially whenever she walked alone through the GCFA ship. She found a small comfort in that there were security people around. Still, she caught herself constantly glancing over her shoulder. She had that feeling now and it made her shiver.

  “Are you okay?” Alona asked with concern.

  Lindy looked around but didn’t see anyone watching her. “Yeah. I’m just feeling anxious to get back to Talon.”

  Talon had just finished his afternoon practice match with Hammer. The Biclops could definitely throw a punch. He hadn’t seen Lindy since breakfast. She had gone shopping with some of the female fighters. He wanted to kiss her and have his wicked way with her. He planned to do everything he could to keep her happy so she would never want to leave him. He was addicted to her.

  As he headed toward the elevator, he saw Lindy get inside the elevator with Tipin. She was smiling at the other man and she touched his chest with teasing caresses. Talon growled deeply. He tried to get to the elevator but the doors closed.

  How dare she flirt with another man! He was going to make sure she knew whom she belonged. Then he was going to hunt Tipin down and rip his head off. Lindy was his!

  He took the elevator up to his suite. He practically tore the door off. “Lindy!”

  Lindy was putting away her new clothes when she heard Talon yell out her name. She ran into the front room of the suite. “What is it?”

  “Where is he?” he demanded, storming toward the bedroom.

  “Where is who?” Lindy followed him.

  “Tipin. I saw you flirting with him.” He went to check the bathroom.

  “What? I did no such thing!”

  “Do not lie to me! I saw you with my own two eyes!” Talon grabbed her arm and shook her.

  “Let go of my arm, Talon.” Lindy was scared. She had never seen Talon so angry, especially with her.

  He was much stronger that she was. If he wasn’t careful, he could tear her arm off. He didn’t release her, but he did soften his grip. “I won’t be made into a fool. And I do not share what is mine.”

  Lindy yanked her arm free. “First of all, do not ever grab me like that again. Second, I never flirted with Tipin. I have been in this suite since I came back from shopping. And thirdly, I never agreed to be yours!”

  “You deny flirting with Tipin?” His nostrils were flaring.

  “I sure as hell do!”

  Talon went to grab her arm again, but she jumped back out of his reach. The fear on her face made him take pause. He realized that he needed to leave and get himself under control. He walked away from her.

  “Where are you going?”

  “Out!” He stormed out of his suite. Talon went down to the Galactic Pub. He drank and drank. It took a lot to get a halfsie drunk. When the bartender finally cut him off, he struggled to make his way to his suite. The lights were out when he entered. He didn’t want Lindy to see him in this state, so he laid down on his sofa and two minutes later, he passed out.

  Lindy cried for hours until she cried herself to sleep. When she woke, Talon still had not come back. She wondered what had happened. Did he really think that she would flirt with Tipin while she was involved with him? It was both ridiculous and insulting.

  She had planned to start walking around the ship till she found him. She knew it was pathetic, but she needed to make sure he was okay. She halted in her steps when she walked into the kitchen area. A light snoring caught her attention. She turned and felt immediate relief. Oh thank God, he is here. She approached him and could smell the alcohol. It was really strong. She went into the bedroom, pulling a blanket from the bed. She came back and covered him up. She smoothed his dark hair back from his face and marveled at how beautiful he was in sleep.

  She was startled by a knock at the door. She frowned. She did
n’t want anyone waking Talon up until he had slept off his stupor. She rushed over hoping to get to the door before whoever it was knocked again. When she opened the door, Resa stood on the other side.

  “I’m not up for company right now, Resa.” She tried to close the door, but Resa pushed her way into the room. “What are you doing?”

  Tipin came in right behind Resa closing the door. She had not seen him out in the hallway. Resa grabbed her arms and pulled them behind her back.

  “What the hell are—” Lindy didn’t finish what she was saying. Tipin slammed a needle into the side of her neck. Whatever was inside the syringe hit her system instantaneously. Her eyes felt heavy and she couldn’t move or speak. She could hear what was going on around her, but it all sounded like she was in a tunnel.

  Tipin picked her up in his arms. “Quick, grab the travel chest!”

  Resa went back out into the hallway and dragged in a long travel chest that was about five feet long and three feet wide. It had a handle and rolled in on wheels. She opened it up revealing a pillow inside. “Put her in. We need to get out of here before Talon wakes up.”

  Lindy could feel herself being lowered into some kind of small space. Her knees were bent and legs brought back behind her a little. The sounds were getting dimmer and she knew she would pass out soon. Her last thought was that she regretted not getting the chance to apologize for the fight. She wished she could have told him that she was falling in love with him. Now, she would never get the chance.

  Talon slowly came awake. He felt the massive headache that followed a night of overindulging with alcohol. His head pounded painfully. “Ugh.”

  “So he lives,” Rage’s deep voice rumbled somewhere to the left of him.

  He wasn’t ready to open his eyes yet. “Go away, Rage.”

  “Hey, the door was partially open and I heard some kind of wild animal noises. I am surprised you haven’t woken up the entire floor with your snores.”
