The dragons made her world a wonderful adventure. In summer, when the sun was hot, the winter dragon would make it snow for her. In winter, when the wind was cold as ice, the summer dragon would make the princess her very own summer mountain.
The earth dragon never stopped adorning the New East Mountain with beautiful flowers and colorful trees. The mountain scented like spring all year round.
How about in fall? The legend said that the princess and her dragons stayed in the mountain all seasons. The dragons showered the princess with their true love, just as the rain showered all over Elastin.
Latias landed next to Renisham and me. I smiled at him. He held my hand and kissed it gently.
Ampharos landed on my other side. He grabbed my other hand and kissed it. Latias frowned at him and threw a snowball at him. Ampharos groaned and threw a ball of mud at his brother.
“There they go again,” Renisham said with a sigh. He looked at me and asked, “How long can you put up with this?”
“About three lifetimes,” I answered.
Renisham smiled, but a flicker of red flame appeared in his pupils. I knew what it meant. He was still angry at the heaven’s decision.
As always, they were cruel. Unlike in the legend Amara created, I was not given an immortal life. I could only live three lifetimes because of my dragons’ hearts.
“It’s a long time, my love,” I told Renisham.
I squeezed Renisham’s cheeks and forced him to smile. When he refused, I kissed him forcefully. He laughed and gave in. He replied my kisses passionately.
Three lifetimes of having real love from my true loves did not seem so cruel. I was thankful to the heavens for that. However, there was one thing the heavens forgot about me.
I am Aurora, the warrior princess who vowed to change destiny and did it. Three lifetimes is a long time to find a way to change destiny again. I will surely find a way.
I vow not to end the love I have with my dragons.
