“Run, Brock!” she screamed to her son, reached for his hand, and yanked him forward. Burlap got out, and she kicked him in the crotch. His eyes changed color, and she turned as Koa grabbed her by her hair and yanked her into the van. She could hear growling, and as the door closed and Koa attacked her, she fought. Her son was safe—her mates were coming. He tore at her top, struck her in the mouth, and she slammed her fist and hand upward against his jaw. His eyes changed color, and his incisors grew.

“If I can’t have you, then you die, and your death will cause all of their deaths, too,” he roared just as the doors to the van ripped from the side, and a huge wolf reached in, grabbed Koa off of her, and pulled him out. The sounds of growls then a high-pitched whimper filled the air, and she couldn’t move. She panted for breath and then heard Galvan.

“Alyssa!” He said her name, and she looked at him. He pulled her up into his arms after looking at her ripped top, bloody lip, and bruised cheek and hugged her to him.

“Never again. Never will you or Brock be left alone to do anything like this ever again.”

“Mamma!” Brock cried out, and she pulled back and reached for Brock, who jumped into her arms and hugged her as he inhaled against her neck. She let the tears flow as Puello, Ross, and Stark appeared. Brock pulled back and cupped her cheek. He looked angry and upset at the sight.

“It will heal, baby. I’m so sorry I failed you.”

“You didn’t fail me, Mamma. It’s what the gods wanted. It’s what they told me needed to happen so you and your mates could be safe and could fight on,” he said to her.

“You hear them, too?” she whispered, and he nodded. She hugged him again and then looked at Galvan. She pulled back. “Brock, this is—”

“My father,” Brock said and looked him in the eyes.

“I will never leave you or your mother again,” Galvan said to him. “I have so much time to make up with you.”

“We are Alphas, and Alphas must accept whatever the gods have planned for us,” Brock said and then hugged his mother again.

“Like this?” Brock asked Galvan as they sparred in the training room.

“Put your feet a little further apart. Now step into it and strike,” Galvan said, and she smiled as Brock did the move and Galvan high-fived him. Ross and Stark were sparring near them, and then she felt the hands on her shoulders and Puello press up against her back. He wrapped her up in his arms and kissed her neck.

“Why aren’t you out there with them?” he asked.

“Well, I was waiting for you to hear about the conference call with the Circle of Elders.”

He suckled against her neck, and her pussy clenched. “I thought maybe you were scared.”

  “Scared?” She asked.

“Oh yeah. I believe the last time we started to train you and show you some moves, you wound up naked and filled with cock,” he said, and she shivered and turned in his arms.

She stood up on tiptoes and kissed his chin. “The way I love my mates,” she countered. His hand went to her ass and squeezed.

“You know our son is here. Quit it.”

When she tried stepping back, he held her close, stepped his feet further apart, and looked down into her eyes.

“The elders liked your idea. We’ve received funding to expand an area in the center of town to house all those weres that were displaced because of the attacks and destruction of their packs. We’ll be hiring on workers to wean out the ones who don’t want to show any allegiance to us or to Saint pack. It will be a process, but considering it was our pack and Saint pack that destroyed those warehouses and saved so many lives, most will join us.”

“I think it’s a great idea. Over time they will learn to trust again, and be loyal to your packs. I’m sure there will be some rough patches, but you’ll all lead the way packs are supposed to be led. No forced matings, no deceit and abduction of children. Plus, you’ll gain inside information on other packs threatening to do what Voltek and Polta pack tried to do. There are more, and we would all be foolish to think it was only a few. Something greater is developing, and we’ll need to be ready.”

“Spoken like a superb Alpha mate,” he said to her.

“With that, I leave the planning, and military, security operations to the Hunters of the Gods. But mark my words, Puello. Loyalty will be tested. Danger will reach all of our doorsteps. Gaining more followers who will be loyal and serve will take great leadership by all.”

“Hmm, I don’t know if my fathers will appreciate your advice or take it as an insult to the job they have done or their capabilities to do so.”

She stepped back. “I was talking about you and your brothers,” she said, and his eyes widened. He growled low, and she screamed out as she ran across the mats and he tackled her to the ground. She was laughing and begging for mercy as he tickled her, and Brock, Galvan, Ross, and Stark joined in.

She was at peace right now. They were safe, and they were finally a family, but she knew their love, their bond, their place in power would be tested. But she felt ready for the fight, just as Alexandra and her men were.
