  First and foremost, I need to thank thepeoplehistory.com. Those folks provide each year’s calendar online. I used 1987 – 2001 in my research and they made it easy.

  The lovely state of California, where I visited for the first time in 1998 and, quite literally, fell in love with a place.

  My home state of Massachusetts and all the people there who I grew up with, lived with, befriended, dated, was/am related to, passed in the halls of high school, partied with in college, worked with, met on the subway, encountered in any manner of random ways. Inspiration is everywhere.

  It would be impossible to list everyone, but here are a few people I want to specifically shout out:

  Judi, Wendy, Sue, and Ginger for being my betas. You ladies rock so hard and helped me to craft a better story, thanks! Lucille Burt, Creative Writing teacher at AHS who first told me to publish my fiction. Dean, Sahler, Margaret, Barbara, Todd, Shayna, Marc, Brad, Ken, Ricardo, plus, Merlika, Barry, Ronnie, and everyone else at Windjammer Landing in St. Lucia who took such good care of all of us that my inspiration sparked over a vodka cranberry one afternoon in May 2016 and hasn’t stopped.

  About the author

  I’m Jenn Flynn-Shon, author of the Shaw McLeary Mystery Series and the blog Randomness and Lunacy. Fiction is my passion and my very first love, writing and reading. The story you just read came to life in January 1991. I was 17, a newbie fiction writer and a senior in high school. The birth of Carol’s diary started with a blurb about her riding the bus in her smart suit. Now, twenty-six years later, it was time to finish, polish, and release the rest of her story for your reading pleasure. I hope you enjoyed it!
