“Don’t ever talk about the way I ride,” he said.

His hard stare was locked on me. I didn’t break. I didn’t blink. I didn’t look away. I just kept staring right at him despite something beginning to swirl around in my stomach. A tension I couldn’t quite figure out was building inside of me to the point that I had to swallow to keep it down.

“I’m just calling it like I see it,” I said.

He turned to the bartender and held his hand up.

  “Gimme a double.”

Roman gulped it down faster than the bartender poured it. My grin returned to me as he smacked his lips.

“That’s more like it,” I said.

“Is that right? You like a man who can handle his liquor?”

He leaned in closer to me against the bar. His arm brushed against mine and a jolt shot through my spine. I gritted my teeth to stop myself from shuddering. The scent of alcohol and leather filled my nostrils.

  Damn.

Just the way he stared at me would’ve been enough to make any woman lose her focus. Everything else about him just made it worse.

I looked back to my empty glass and watched as the bartender poured me another drink. He did the same for Roman.

  “We should toast,” he said.

“What should we toast to?” I asked.

He held his glass up then held it out to me.

“To another ordinary night in Ivory.”

“Ordinary night, huh? Okay. I guess that’s as good a reason as any.”

We clinked our glasses together and swallowed our drinks. The alcohol wasn’t burning as much as it did the first time. That’s how I knew it was already beginning to affect me.

Roman didn’t drink much more because he was too paranoid about everybody else in the bar, even though everybody was still minding their own business. I figured I would let the drinks I had simmer inside of me.

I sat on the barstool while he remained standing right next to me. We didn’t say much to one another. It was strange to think that we weren’t talking, we weren’t even looking at each other, but I still felt so comfortable around him. I didn’t want to admit that I even enjoyed his company. It’d only been two nights and I wasn’t sure what to make of what Roman thought of me.

None of that mattered though. It was only a couple more days before I would say goodbye to him and I would return to the life I was more familiar with.

“Come on,” I said as I stood up.

  “What’s wrong?”

  “Let’s go somewhere else.”

  “You don’t like this place?”

“This place is just fine. But I figure I’m not going to be in Ivory for much longer. I might as well see as much of this place as I can.”

Roman moved away from the counter and looked down at me. Even though the bar was so dark, I could still see his face clearly. The light shimmered off of his blue eyes like diamonds.

“Why don’t you show me what else Ivory has to offer?” I said.

Roman gave me a half-smirk before turning around and heading for the exit. I followed after him. We were right near the door when we heard someone shout behind us.

  “Hey!”

The bartender held his hands out to us.

“You gonna pay for this shit?”

  “Oh, shit…” I said with a laugh.

“I got it,” Roman said. “This’ll only take a second. I’ll be right out.”

Roman headed back to the bar while I went outside.

It was a peaceful night in Ivory. The air was crisp and clear, nothing like you’d experience in the city. The stars seemed to shine even brighter without the lights of skyscrapers to block them.

I wrapped my arms around myself to keep myself warm. Thank goodness I’d worn a longer skirt than usual.

I moved over to the curb where Roman’s bike was parked and waited for him. The entrance to the bar opened up and Roman came out.

“Come on,” I said. “I don’t think the alcohol is keeping me as warm as it should.”

I was laughing when I said it but the strangest thing happened. Roman’s eyes widened suddenly.

  “Mia! Look out!”

“What?” I said, my brow scrunched in confusion.

He ran up to me but he wasn’t fast enough. I felt a pair of arms wrap around me and lift me from the ground.

I yelped as I felt a hard thud against the side of my head. I was in a daze. I kicked my feet but it wasn’t much use as I was dragged into the backseat of a vehicle.

  “Let me go! Roman! Help!”

I yelled out helplessly as the car sped off down the road. I kept struggling in my seat while I looked around. I was in a car with a couple of masked men holding me down.

  “Let me out!”

  “Shut up, bitch!”

It was no use to try and break free. They kept their arms tight around me. I kicked at the window, trying to break it.

“Watch out! That motherfucker’s coming right for us!”

I could make out the faint sound in the distance. The rumble of a chopper heading in our direction.

  Roman…

  It had to be him.

“Watch out!” one of the men said. “He’s firing!”

“Hold on,” the other man said. “I got this!”

I watched as the other man pulled a pistol and opened up the window. He pointed the gun outside. A few shots rang in the air and my heart sank in my chest.

  Roman…

I didn’t want to think that he’d been shot. I didn’t want to think that he wasn’t coming for me. I didn’t want to think about what these men were going to do to me. But as the shots continued to ring in the air, all of the worst thoughts keep pushing their way into my mind.

I clenched my jaw and continued struggling to break free.

  “Look out!”

A sudden pair of gunshots was followed by the car swerving in every direction. Tires squealed. Brakes screeched. I yelled out as the car moved out of control before slamming to a sudden stop.

I couldn’t tell what was happening. My feet were up over my head. There was some pain in my arm. And there were still some men grumbling right next to me even though they weren’t shouting as loud as before.

Suddenly, the car door opened up.

  “Mia!”

I looked up just as I felt a forceful tug on my arm. I found myself standing back in front of Roman. I was so happy to see him but he didn’t appear to feel the same way. There was a look in his eyes. A look of anger so frightening that he looked like a different person.

  “Roman…”

He moved me aside and moved into the car and started punching the men who were sitting in the backseat. He kept hammering them until they stopped moving. The driver was already out of it from the crash, slumped over the steering wheel.

Roman pulled the masks off of one of the men.

“Who are you?” he yelled. “Who sent you?”

The man’s eyes rolled back in his head.

“Do you recognize him?” Roman asked me.

I looked at the man’s bloodied face and shook my head.

“I’ve never seen him before in my life…”

  “Dammit…”

There was a growing frustration on Roman’s face. I was still trying to process everything that just happened. Police sirens in the distance filled the air.

“What are we going to do?” I said, my heart still pumping in my chest.

“Come on,” he said as he took my hand. “We’ve gotta get the fuck out of here.”

He led me over to his bike. I hopped on and squeezed my arms tight around him. As we sped off back down the road, I turned around to see the blue and red lights flashing on the scene. My heartbeat started to slow when the scene disappeared behind us.

I couldn’t be completely relaxed though. I knew that this wasn’t over. This was only the beginning.

  Chapter 10

  ROMAN

With the pigs on alert, I couldn’t risk drawing more a
ttention to myself. I was trying to move through the streets as fast as I could to get Mia out of danger but no doubt, somebody saw me speeding through the streets and firing my piece. I didn’t care if they caught me. I didn’t care if they knew it was me. My only concern was making sure that the motherfuckers who did this couldn’t get anywhere close to Mia.

  “Roman… Roman, stop…”

  “What’s wrong?”

I pulled into a darkened alley and came to a halt. I got off my ride and saw Mia holding her arm.

  “What is it?” I said.

She slowly moved her hand away from her arm. I saw the small trickle of blood coming from the wound.

  “Shit…”

I narrowed my eyes to get a better look at it.

“It must’ve been when they grabbed me,” she said. “Maybe one of them had a knife.”

I wiped away the drop of blood to get a better look.

“It doesn’t look that serious,” I said. “Just superficial.”

  “It doesn’t feel very good.”

“Alcohol thins your blood. Sometimes it makes it hurt a little more than usual.”

  “I don’t think that’s how that works…”

She smiled at me. Seeing the look on her face calmed me down enough so that I wasn’t as amped up as I was just a few seconds ago. She got off of her seat and we both took a moment to relax.

“What happened back there? They crashed…”

“I took out their tires,” I said. “I’m sorry.”

  “You’re sorry?”

“I couldn’t risk hitting you, aiming for them. But I risked the crash. I’m sorry I… I’m sorry I put you in danger.”

She walked up to me and put a hand on my cheek. Her touch was so soft and gentle. I looked down at her and felt a weight I didn’t realize was there lifting from my shoulders.

“You didn’t put me in danger,” she said, a soft smile on her face. “Those assholes were ones who put me in danger. You…”

Her throat shifted with a swallow.

  “…You saved me.”

“I shouldn’t have left you alone. I should’ve never let that happen.”

“It was just a few seconds. You didn’t know—”

  “I should’ve known. I should’ve known… Dammit…”

I looked away from her and shook my head in frustration. That didn’t stop her from keeping her hand against my face. She caressed my jaw and let her fingers linger around my chin.

“Roman… You’ve done everything I could’ve asked from you… You put yourself in danger… When those guys were shooting at you, I started to fear the worst…”

  “It’s over now.”

The way she stared at me… She was the daughter of a man who had power in the big city. And she was marrying a man who had more money than he knew what to do with. But the woman in front of me right now… She was stronger than anybody I’d ever met.

  “Mia…”

I couldn’t believe what I was thinking but everything about her was too damn distracting. Her tan skin. Those round, innocent brown eyes of her. The way her dark hair framed her face. Her petite physique.

  A hundred thousand dollars…

A distant voice in my head sounded annoyingly like Sebastian. He was trying to reason with me.

But looking into Mia’s eyes now, reason had left me. There was something else inside of me. A man who was holding back and didn’t want to hold back any longer.

  A hundred thousand…

I stopped thinking and rushed my face to hers. A deep kiss cleared everything in my head. All that remained was a desire to be closer to her.

My tongue swirled into her mouth. She wrapped her hands around my head and brought me closer. I put my hands on the small of her back, letting my fingers trail down to her ass. I squeezed hard and she gasped into my mouth.

  Roman…

I pulled away. My eyes widened as I stared at her.

  Last chance…

I gave myself one last moment. I couldn’t do this. If Burke found out… If Palazzo found out… It wasn’t just me… I was putting Mia in danger…

But Mia kept staring at me, damning any consequences there might have been. I clenched my jaw and breathed hard through my nose.

  “Roman… What’s wrong?”

  “I…”

  “Stop thinking… It doesn’t matter… I… I don’t care anymore… I… I want you.”

Mia was giving me every reason to go through with it. There was something in my stomach. An animal clawing its way out.

  I can’t stay away… I can’t fucking stay away…

“Just fuck me, Roman. Just fucking give it to me already—”

I put my mouth back to hers. My tongue pushed farther into her mouth so she could suck on it. Sloppy kisses echoed up into the night sky as I cradled her in my arms.

All of the voices were gone. All reason had abandoned me. Mia pulled an insatiable lust out of me that I had to fulfill. My cock had swollen to the point that only one thing could tame it.

I wrapped my arms around her and lifted her up from the ground. She gasped again and put her legs around me. She was so petite that it didn’t take much effort for me to carry her.

I moved over to the wall next to us in the darkened alley and pinned her against it. Her legs fell back down to the floor and her heels dug in. I grabbed her hands and pinned them above her head.

I kissed her cheek. I kissed her neck. I kissed the top of her tits.

Every lick. Every touch. Every little thing I did made her whimper.

Mia had the voice of an angel. A chorus from Heaven was urging me on.

Between messy kisses, she started fumbling with my pants. The metal clasp of my buckle undone, she unbuttoned me and zipped me down. My jeans fell to the floor. My cock strained against my underwear. Mia grabbed my dick and stroked me a few times to make sure that I was rock hard for her.

“Fuck me,” she sighed into my mouth. “Fuck me already, Roman…”

  “Is that what you want?”

  “Yeah, that’s what I fucking want…”

  “What do you want?”

“I want you to fuck me… I want you to put your cock inside of me…”

I reached underneath her skirt while she kept pumping me. She raised one of her legs up just enough to let me pull down her panties. The small thong dangled on one of her ankles.

The flowery scent between her legs filled my nostrils and sent me in a daze. Somehow, my cock was getting even harder.

I put my hand between her legs and found her pussy.

  God…

She whimpered when I put a finger into her. She was so fucking wet. The heat between her folds warmed my entire hand, inviting me for more.

  “Fuck me…” she whispered.

Messy kisses on my lips. Licks on my cheek. Nibbles on my ear. I leaned down and let Mia continue to prime and pump my cock so that I could give her exactly what she wanted.

I couldn’t wait any longer. No man could resist the devilish pixie right in front of me.

I took a step back and pulled my underwear down just enough to free my cock. Mia kept her stare locked on me as she raised her skirt up to her waist. If she weren’t so damn beautiful, I would’ve looked at the inviting pussy calling out to me.

I moved back to her and she spread her legs. I took my place between them, my cock primed and ready.

There was still a chance. A chance that I wouldn’t put Mia in danger. A chance that I would just do my job. But the heat of her pussy against the tip of my cock was too much. Neither of us had a chance.

  “Fuck me… Fuck me—Ungh!”

She let out a sheepish little moan as I plunged my cock into her. She was so tight but so wet that my thickness felt like it was being swallowed. She wrapped her arms around me and did the same with her legs. I put my hands up and squeezed her waist, holding her in place as I started thumping my cock into her.

  “Oh, fuck…”

  Mia whimpered uncon
trollably as I fucked her against the wall. My strokes were long and hard. I wanted her to feel every fucking inch of me.

I pressed my forehead to hers and looked her right in the eye as I pounded her.

“Is this what you want? You want me to fuck you?”

  “Fuck me…”

  “Say my name.”

  “Roman…”

  “Say my name.”

  “Roman… Fuck me, Roman…”

It’d been too fucking long. Hearing someone like Mia say it was music to my ears. Exactly what I needed to make me give to her.

My cock shifted in and out of her faster and faster. The messy sound of my dick slamming into her pussy grew louder.

Then I heard something strange. Music loud enough that it was near us.

  “Shit,” she muttered.

“What’s wrong?” I said, still giving it to her.

  “My phone… It’s Arthur.”

  “Don’t answer it.”

“I have to… He knows something is wrong… The shooting…”

  “Dammit…”

I started to slow and lower her down to the ground but she pulled me closer with her legs.

  “No,” she said. “Don’t stop.”

  “What?”

  “Keep going. I need this… I need you…”

I couldn’t refuse her. Not with my cock buried inside of her and her wet pussy engulfing me.

I complied, picking my speed back up and slamming her back into the wall.

Mia reached into the pocket of her skirt and pulled her phone out as it continued to ring. She held it up to her ear, her mouth half-open as she held back a moan. She stared me right in the eye, trying to hold everything back.

  “…Y-yeah?” she stuttered.

I gritted my teeth and held back my grunts to avoid making too much noise.

“I… I’m fine,” she said with a grimace.

I kept driving my cock into her, burying it so deep that I knew she felt every inch of me.

She kept biting her lips, trying to hold everything back.

  “R-really,” she said, her face in agony. “Roman… He’s right here… He’s with me…”

She squeezed her hand around my shoulder and dug her nails into the back of my neck. I held her waist tight and continued to bang into her.

  Hang up already…
