“We’re both pretty blessed in that department,” Blair told her.
Danica agreed. Her slenderness was a combination of good genes and staying fit through exercise and willpower.
When the show began, she sat back and found herself thoroughly entertained as beautiful hula dancers and athletic male fire knife dancers strutted their stuff with grace and skills Danica could only dream of. The accompanying heart-pounding music was a blend of traditional Hawaiian, Samoan, Tahitian and Rarotongan.
Danica found herself wishing she was here with Boyd instead of Blair, though she enjoyed the woman’s company. She was sure he had been to more than his fair share of luaus. But not with her, and it was a romantic, sexual and passionate experience that lovers should share. Maybe they could still go to a luau together, though her time here was growing short.
“So how long do you have left in Hawaii?” Blair asked during the drive back to Hilo.
“Less than three weeks,” Danica told her, wishing it were more.
“Where does the time fly?”
“Tell me about it. Seems like I just arrived here.”
“I know,” Blair said, holding the steering wheel firmly. “I’ll bet Boyd will really miss you.”
Danica faced her. “You think?”
“I saw the way he looked at you the other day. And vice versa. Obvious there’s something going on with you two.”
“There is,” Danica admitted, hoping Blair was okay with that. “He’s a nice guy.”
“And a very wealthy one, with looks any woman would find appealing.”
Danica’s lashes fluttered. “I take it that includes you?”
Blair grinned crookedly. “I’m not going to lie to you. Yes, I am attracted to Boyd. As I said, what straight woman wouldn’t be? Unfortunately, when we met I was still married. Afterward it would have been too weird to think of us getting together. Guess he felt the same way, since he never hit on me.”
Danica felt relieved on both counts. She couldn’t imagine how Blair’s ex had let her slip away. She wouldn’t be surprised if one day soon he realized what a mistake he’d made and came crawling back to Blair.
“So has there been anyone else in your life since your ex?” Danica wondered aloud.
“Actually I’m seeing a guy right now. He’s a doctor, too.” She shot Danica a self-effacing smile. “You’d think I’d have learned my lesson and would stay away from others in the profession. But we seem to have a lot in common, including being divorced, and we’re using that as our basis for dating.”
“I’m happy for you,” Danica spoke genuinely.
“We’re just taking it slow at the moment,” Blair said. “Things look promising, though, just as they appear to be with you and Boyd.”
Only time would tell just how promising, Danica thought. She was content to take it one day and night at a time, but she hoped she may have finally found the man she could share something truly special with.
Chapter 8
Boyd got a text from Danica asking him if she could come over. Though it was nearly midnight, he was happy to see her whenever an opportunity came his way. Indeed, he’d even offered to come to her instead, in case she lost her way, but she assured him that wouldn’t be the case.
Looking out the window as the car pulled up to his house, he couldn’t help but smile. Apparently Danica was beginning to learn her way around the island. He considered it a very good sign that she was warming up to Hawaii, and to him.
After opening the door, Boyd waited to greet Danica, eager to hear how things had gone with her and Blair at the luau. He would have loved to come along for the ride, but wasn’t invited. He was cool with that, as Danica should be able to chill with a girlfriend while she was there. And why not with Blair? He knew she was still trying to get past Richard with the help of Ashlyn, and she seemed like a good fit for Danica, too.
Admittedly Danica considered it a bold move to want to see Boyd at this time of night, fresh off the luau with Blair. But her desire for the man was almost nonstop. And watching the gyrations of the sexy male dancers had put her in the mood for being with the one man who caused her body to tingle all over. She saw no reason to wait until the sun came up before they got together, if Boyd was willing. From his text response he seemed more than eager to see her.
Getting to his house was her way of proving to him that she had been paying attention and was starting to get a feel for the Hilo and Hamakua Districts, in particular. Though it would take her a while to totally master it, she was settling in nicely.
She noted Boyd filling the doorway and beckoning to her, wearing only a pair of shorts, with his sexy muscular arms and legs on full display.
“You made it,” he said, smiling at her.
“Did you think I wouldn’t?”
“Not for one second. Clearly you’re a woman who achieves what she puts her mind to.”
“Glad you feel that way,” Danica said, walking up to him and planting a juicy kiss on his lips. “Because tonight I’ve set my mind on you.”
“Is that so?” he asked, getting turned on while closing the door.
“Yes, it’s so. Got a problem with that?”
“None whatsoever!”
“Didn’t think so.” They walked into the living room and settled on the couch. She cozied up to him, kissed him again and ran her fingers down his firm chest and flat stomach before reaching his shorts. She unzipped and yanked them down only to find that he wasn’t wearing underwear, which excited her.
Danica dropped down to her knees and started to lick the tip of his erection, taking pleasure in knowing she had brought him to arousal, which in turn aroused her, warming her body all over. She sucked, nibbled and teased, needing nothing more than to show him how much she wanted him.
Boyd ran his hands through her hair, loving the feeling of her mouth on him. He squeezed his eyes shut, as the sensations grew stronger and stronger. But he wanted to complete the act inside her.
Finally she released him.
“Did you like that?” she asked.
“You know damned well I did,” he spoke hoarsely.
“Just checking.”
Boyd held her shoulders. “You drive me crazy.”
“I think it’s safe to say we drive each other crazy.”
“I’m going to make love to you now,” he told her.
Desire branched out to every fiber of her being. “You can’t take me quick enough.”
“No, I can’t—for both of us.”
Boyd held her cheeks and gave Danica a mouthwatering, hard kiss. He felt her aroused nipples press into him. Sliding a hand between her legs, he noted that she wasn’t wearing underwear and was wet for him. Having anticipated where this was going tonight, he’d slipped a condom into his pocket, which he retrieved and put on.
Backing Danica to the wall, Boyd pushed her dress up, spread her legs and lifted her up, bringing her down gently onto his throbbing erection. He thrilled in the tight feel and closeness of their attachment, propelling himself into her time and time again while they kissed feverishly.
Danica tried to catch her breath, but couldn’t, not with her legs wrapped tightly across Boyd’s buttocks as he made love to her. This primal need to have sex with him was everything she hoped it would be: aggressive, passionate, frantic and electrifying. She clutched his head with their mouths locked, letting loose with an orgasm that came in wave after luxurious wave.
Boyd held Danica tightly as her moist and supple body quavered wildly. He winced as she bit into his upper lip and then moaned loudly into his mouth. Caught in the throes of his own release, he turned them around so he was against the wall. He braced himself and moved her up and down the length of him. When the moment came, Boyd practically sang the glory
of sexual ecstasy as he climaxed.
Danica held Boyd’s cheeks, pressing his face to her breasts while he went through the trembling motions of his powerful orgasm. Though she had already come twice, she felt another smaller, but still potent, climax as they went at each other as if all willpower had been zapped in favor of satisfying their needs to the fullest. Her moist skin tingled as they held each other close. The man making love to her filled Danica’s mind with undulating joy.
Boyd set Danica on her feet when they were finished, sucking in a deep breath. “Wow! Maybe you need to go to a luau more often.”
“Maybe I do—as long as next time it’s with you,” she said.
“Or…we can just do our own hot dances privately, while relishing each other’s sexy and alluring bodies.”
Danica licked her lips invitingly. “That sounds even better.”
“For you and me both.” He lifted her chin and gave her a deep soulful kiss. “Stay the night?”
“There’s nowhere else I’d rather be,” she uttered, keyed up at the invitation.
“And nowhere else I’d want you to be other than in my arms.”
Boyd kissed her again, enthusiastic at the notion of another night of sexual harmony. Danica was every bit his equal intimately, and she was working on him in the ways of the heart, as well.
* * *
Danica was caught up in a deep sleep, loving every moment of dreaming about Boyd and the time they’d spent together, when she was suddenly roused awake. She felt sensations of heat between her legs. Opening her eyes and adjusting to the darkness, she saw Boyd’s face buried there, bringing her fulfillment. His tongue did things to her she’d only dreamed of.
“Oh, Boyd,” she murmured. “That feels wonderful.”
“I want it to,” he told her huskily. “Lay back and enjoy.”
Turned on by her intoxicating scent and incredible taste, Boyd continued to lick and kiss Danica’s most private parts, urging her on to the apex of satisfaction. He spread her thighs a little wider and brought her greater joy while suppressing his own urgent desire. Knowing that he was giving her what her body craved and loved was every bit as exciting.
Danica could not resist his amazing gift of satisfying her sexually in each and every way. She arched her back and pressed herself against his mouth as an orgasm left her shuddering as it spread throughout her body. A moan erupted from her throat and she was powerless to control its sound of utter appeasement.
Boyd took pleasure in Danica’s release, allowing it to run its full course before coming up onto her. With a condom already in place on his throbbing erection and the need to be inside her never greater, he fit between her thighs and thrust himself deep within her and they made love.
Bringing her legs up high on his back, Danica cried out as Boyd met the mark one time after another, bringing her untold exhilaration. She gave back just as much, constricting around him each time he moved forward or backward.
They kissed, caressed, stimulated and came together in one enormous burst of sexual euphoria, and Danica swore she’d never felt like that with any man before him.
She cuddled into him and they went back to sleep as spent lovers, though in Danica’s heart and soul, they had become so much more.

Boyd gazed at Danica in the morning. She looked beautiful as she slept. He decided to let her sleep and would even serve her breakfast in bed. She had brought out the side of him that wanted to please her in every way possible, including waiting on her hand and foot. He wasn’t sure what this meant emotionally, but he had a pretty good idea that it meant he wanted her to be a part of his life over and beyond the time she had left in Hawaii.
“Aloha, gorgeous,” Boyd said twenty minutes later as he entered the room carrying a tray.
Danica opened her eyes to his smiling, handsome face. “Good morning.” She yawned and then noted the tray.
“I made you breakfast. Hope you like a ham and cheese omelet.”
“Yes, I do,” she told him, getting a whiff of it as he sat the tray beside her.
“There’s also some bran muffins, granola, tasty island fruit, juice and fresh ground coffee.”
“Hmm…sounds wonderful.” Danica beamed. “Breakfast in bed…that’s a first.”
“It doesn’t have to be the last,” Boyd told her. Indeed, if he had his way, it definitely wouldn’t be.
“What did I ever do to deserve this…you?”
He grinned, then leaned over and kissed her forehead. “All you did was be your wonderful self.”
Danica’s heart warmed. “Oh, you are so sweet.”
“I get that a lot from beautiful ladies,” he joked.
“I’ll bet you do,” she tossed back at him. “But only one of them is stark naked in your bed right now.”
His cheeks rose when he grinned. “And I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
She used her fork to slice off a piece of the omelet and ate it.
“What do you think?” he asked hesitantly.
“Absolutely delicious.”
“Really?”
She nodded and forked a piece to stick in his mouth. “See for yourself.”
Boyd ate it, smiling at this different form of seduction and closeness. “I totally agree.”
Danica eyed him while nibbling a muffin. “Thanks for taking me in last night. I needed that.”
“You’re welcome here anytime,” he promised.
“Mahalo,” she responded, happy to use such common local words as if she truly did belong.
“As it was,” Boyd said, sitting on the bed, “if you hadn’t come over, I would’ve come to get you.”
“Oh…?”
“Yeah. My friend Lowell Makani is back in town. He’s dropping by today to say hello.”
“When?”
“Oh, around noon or so,” Boyd answered coolly.
Danica glanced at the clock and saw that it was nearly ten. “Maybe you should have him come later. I don’t have any clothes here other than what I had on yesterday.”
“Trust me when I say that even if you were dressed in a burlap sack, you’d be beautiful to him or anyone else.”
She loved the flattery, especially coming from him. “That may be, but I’d still feel more comfortable if I could go back to the other house, shower and change into a more appropriate outfit to meet your friend.”
“That’s cool,” Boyd said agreeably. “I’ll just call him and tell him to meet us over there.”
“Why can’t other men be so nice and understanding?” Danica asked.
He chuckled. “You mean I’m the only one?”
She laughed. “Truthfully, sometimes it seems that way.”
“Must be because I’m so hung up on you,” he told her with a straight face.
“I like the sound of that,” she admitted and ate some more, but wasn’t very hungry after the feast last night at the luau.
“Seems as though we like quite a few things about each other.”
“Does that scare you?” she asked him.
Boyd flashed her a thoughtful look. “Just the opposite. Makes me less afraid of going through the rest of my life without finding someone I click with.”
Danica met his eyes. “I feel the same way.”
He smiled, believing they were moving on the right track in this relationship. She seemed to be everything he could want in a lover, lady, friend and even, if he allowed himself to go there, a possible wife.
* * *
“Danica, this is Lowell.” Boyd introduced them when he brought his friend inside the house.
“Nice meeting you,” Lowell said with a big smile as he shook her hand.
“You, too.” Danica
wondered how much Boyd had told him about her and them.
“Boyd said you’re from Chicago,” Lowell said.
“Yes. Have you been there?”
“Once. On business.”
“Chicago’s a thriving metropolis,” Danica said, acting as its ambassador.
“I could see that.”
“Can I get you something to eat or drink?” she offered. When they both declined, she led them out to seats on the lanai.
“I take it this switcheroo with Ashlyn has been working out pretty well?” Lowell asked.
“Very well,” Danica admitted. “I’m having a great time.”
Lowell faced Boyd. “I’m sure this dude here has something to do with that.”
How about everything to do with it? “Yes, something,” she said.
Boyd laughed. “I can’t take much credit,” he said. “After all, we are talking about Hawaii. Who wouldn’t have a good time here?” In truth Danica’s presence had been as rewarding for him as it was for her. That she was running out of time before she returned home didn’t detract from that. Whatever it took to keep the fires burning, he was more than up for.
Lowell chuckled. “That’s true enough. But I’d say meeting someone you care about trumps just about everything else, don’t you think?”
Danica felt Boyd staring at her. “I do,” she said. Boyd certainly trumped any man she’d ever met. He would be an impossible act to follow.
“So do I,” seconded Boyd. He was glad to have Lowell and Danica interact. He hoped to meet some of her friends one day, even if they gave him the third degree. It would be worth it to win them over and show them just how much he wanted to remain a part of her life.
“And how are things working out for Ashlyn in Chicago?” Lowell asked.
“She’s also happy we traded places for a month,” Danica answered. But with it winding down and knowing how high Ashlyn was on Hunter, she couldn’t help but wonder what was in store for them. Just as the question begged to be answered for her and Boyd. She was sure they would address it at the right time.
“Good for her,” Lowell said. “Good for everyone it seems.”
