Breath of the Feathered Serpent

Elijah’s release pulsed over Adam’s hand, and the tight sheath surrounding his cock spasmed and squeezed his primed flesh. He groaned low and deep, giving into his body’s demands. His orgasm washed over him in waves of pleasure as his seed filled his lover.

Adam sagged back as the intensity of his release left him drained. Elijah collapsed forward onto his chest, and he stroked his lover’s back with the little energy he possessed. The water around them still churned wildly, and Adam closed his eyes, listening to the sound of the water still as he regained his wits and his breath.

Finally he had strength enough to move. “It’s getting cold in here, beautiful. Let’s dry off and go to bed.”

Elijah sighed and nodded against Adam’s shoulder. “I guess so.”

Adam made sure Elijah was safely out of the bath before letting the water drain away. Adam urged Elijah to dry quickly and led him into the bedroom. They settled under the sheet, Adam on his back and Elijah pressed closed to his side. Adam expected Elijah to fall asleep once they settled, but his lover surprised him.

Elijah propped himself up on his right elbow and gazed down at Adam while stroking circles over Adam’s chest.

“I know you’re still a Federal Marshal. I know you may want to stay one, but I have a proposition for you,” Elijah said.

Adam tilted his head and met his gaze. “I’m listening,” he said.

“I own a big ranch, and Mitch, Abe, and I are in the process of buying the Big A,” Elijah said. “We’ll then split the land between us. I know about cattle. I’ve grown up with that as my family’s business, but I have ideas of my own. Like I told you, I’ve always loved horses. I want to move into horse breeding but don’t know much about it. You love horses, too, and you used to bust broncos.”

“Yep. My family had a modest horse ranch,” Adam said. “I know a fair bit about them.”

“I thought maybe you might give up being a marshal and help me realize my dream with horses.” Elijah’s voice dropped to a whisper. “I have a good foreman who knows what he’s doing with the cattle. I hardly need to do more than check the paperwork. But with the horses, well that’s entirely different.”

Adam’s heart leaped. He hadn’t wanted to be a kept man, but he hadn’t wanted to return to his job as a marshal either. To work alongside Elijah, to realize a dream with his lover and work once again with horses, he couldn’t have envisioned a better future.

With a laugh of joy, he pulled Elijah closer so that the younger man lay on his chest and kissed him with love and delight. “I’d like that, beautiful,” he said. “That sounds like paradise to me.”

Elijah’s face lit up, and he peppered Adam’s face with kisses. “Thank you. The words don’t seem enough,” he said.

“They’re plenty, beautiful,” Adam said and framed Elijah’s face in his hands. “We’ll let the others know in the morning, and Xipil can direct me to where I can telegraph my Chief and tender my resignation.”

  “Oh, Adam, I’m so happy.”

Elijah leaned forward and kissed him. Adam held his love tight. “Me too, beautiful,” he whispered. He smiled as Elijah nestled himself against his side.

“I have so many ideas,” Elijah whispered. “So many things I’d like to do.”

As silence descended, Adam looked down as a soft snore escaped Elijah’s lips. He smiled tenderly and closed his eyes. A horse breeder. Who’d have guessed? A whole new life and future waiting for me, as bright and shiny as a new penny, with the man I love by my side. It’s as if all my dreams have come true.

Adam knew there was a lot of hard work to come, but he welcomed the change with open arms. He was ready for a new life.
