by Sweet Restraint

He growled gutturally as he came, his burning seed erupting into her ass. He kept thrusting for the length of his climax, his shouts of pleasure as orgasm slammed through him again and again twining with Laura’s sharp cries.

“Are you okay?” Shane panted a while later. Miraculously, he’d hardly paused in his stroking of Laura’s ass. His cock was still hard as a pike and her ass felt just as eye-crossingly fantastic squeezing his cock in its divine grip as it had before his thunderous climax.

“Yes,” he heard her reply from beneath the curtain of her dark hair.

“Good,” he mumbled. She moaned when he turned up the dial on her vibrator another notch, felt her rock her hips against it as she enjoyed the amplified buzz. “Cuz I’m not done yet.”

He grasped her hips tightly and thrust with a steady determination. He thought sure he’d die in that moment if he couldn’t bury himself in Laura to the hilt. This time he didn’t need to remind her to resist the pressure. She stiffened her arms on the countertop, pushing back on him so forcefully that he slid into her several more inches. They groaned in mutual gratification.

“That’s right,” Shane rasped as he began to fuck her more deeply, his stare fixed on the erotic site of his ruddy, glistening cock plunging back and forth into Laura’s sweet ass. He figured the erotic vision would be tattooed on his memory banks for an eternity. “Do you like that, baby?”

The answer he got was a low, guttural moan accompanied by the sensation of Laura pushing her ass back on him firmly, begging for more of his cock without words. Shane gave it to her, growling like an animal when his balls finally pressed to her plump ass cheeks.

“Fuck yeah,” he grated out mindlessly as his drove into her to the hilt and was finally completely surrounded by her penetrating heat. Her whimpers of pleasure drove him wild when he began to drive in and out of her with short thrusts, his pelvis and thighs slapping into her ass cheeks with brisk smacks of flesh against flesh. Her whimpers escalated to sharp cries as his strokes became longer and more forceful.

Her soft, firm flesh began to tremble in his hands again.

“You like that, don’t you? You like being ridden hard?”

When she didn’t answer but the fine tremors in her flesh became more pronounced he slid into her to the hilt with a loud smacking noise. He leaned toward her.

  “Answer me.”

“Yes, I love it . . . I love . . .” She cried out suddenly, wiggling her hips as much as she could with him pinning her with his cock. Every muscle in his body went rigid in ecstasy when she convulsed in another orgasm and her ass gripped his cock even tighter.

His vision went red for the next few seconds as he fucked her while she came, granting her no mercy because she clearly didn’t want it. She bucked her bottom along his shaft wildly as she shrieked in orgasm, taking him on a swift, relentless ride. His body was pulled so tight on the rack of pleasure, he wondered distantly if his muscles would break from the tension.

He grabbed her lush bottom, stilling her when a scalding orgasm ripped through his flesh. He lifted her several inches off the bar stool and held her to him desperately as he emptied himself into her yet again.

His ears still rang with his harsh roar of release a half minute later. He gently set Laura’s bottom back down on the stool, encircling her waist with his hands as he leaned over her and tried to catch his breath.

“Maybe I should ask my dad if I can buy these stools off him,” he mumbled as he leaned forward and pressed a kiss along Laura’s elegant spine.

She made a harsh sound that he initially thought was disgust. It was difficult to tell for sure when she leaned forward with her forehead on her arms, her hair completely covering her face. But then he heard—he felt the exquisite sensation of her laughter vibrating into his cock, hands, and lips. He smiled.

He knew Laura’d never believe him in a million years if he admitted it, but that sound was every bit as precious to his ears as her screams of pleasure had been.

  CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

  Open.”

Laura shook her head in Shane’s lap but she couldn’t help but laugh as she parted her lips and Shane popped another bite of pork tenderloin between them. She chewed, savoring the decadently rich flavor.

“You know there’s more cholesterol and fat in two of those things than there are in about twelve hot fudge sundaes. I’m surprised the American Heart Association hasn’t put out an official ban on Buttery crackers,” she murmured lazily as she watched Shane stab two bites with his fork and eat with relish. He looked like a gorgeous sybarite feasting as he leaned back on the couch, gloriously bared to the waist as the firelight cast gold light and shadows over his taut muscles covered in dusky skin—one of the members of his worshipful harem lying in his lap.

Her grin widened at the thought.

They’d showered after they’d made love and then come back out to the kitchen to finish preparing the breaded tenderloins, this time working together. Laura admonished herself for having such a good time doing it, but Shane’s appeal was irresistible. They’d both been too tired and hungry to make the salad he’d planned to serve, so they’d retired in front of the fireplace with a plate heaped high with the delicious golden brown tenderloins.

“I’m gonna love every second of my equivalent of one hundred and forty-four hot fudge sundaes. I’m going hog wild tonight on my favorites,” Shane informed her before he dropped a kiss on her mouth. He lingered, tasting her lower lip before penetrating her depths with his tongue in a leisurely yet thorough possession.

His sensual hunger never ceased to amaze her. The fact that her own desire for him easily matched it left her stunned and deeply gratified. She’d been deprived of the rich pleasures of her sexuality for nearly her entire adult life, after all. To have Shane reintro duce her to the pleasures of the flesh—to have him intensify them exponentially—was a powerful experience.

The emotions that accompanied his sensual onslaught overwhelmed her. Had he known this was how she’d react? Is that why he’d done something so outlandish? Laura wondered.

She took the bite that he offered her and watched him as he ate another forkful.

“Hmm, pork tenderloins and Laura Vasquez. That’s a combination worth dying for,” he murmured softly as he nipped at her lips.

Laura’s vision blurred as she stared up at his handsome face. She blinked dazedly a second later when Shane held up another forked offering to her sealed mouth.

“Are you already full? I thought you would have worked up more of an appetite than that,” he told her with a dead-sexy, crooked smile. His eyebrows pinched together in puzzlement when she continued to refuse to open her mouth for the food, however. “What’s wrong? I thought you said they were just as good as my mom’s.”

  She sat up abruptly.

  “Laura?”

That’s a combination worth dying for.

The fire in the dimly lit room seemed to highlight the creases of concern on Shane’s face. She forced a smile. “It’s okay. I’m just a little tired. I’m not really used to drinking wine.”

Shane slowly lowered the fork, setting it on the plate on the coffee table. “Come here.” He beckoned with his hands.

Laura stiffened at the enticement but then went to him. She clenched her eyelids together tightly when his arms encircled her and her cheek was pressed to his warm, bare chest.

“I can hear your heart beating,” she whispered.

His big hand opened on the back of her head and laced his fingers in her hair. “It’s a strong little bugger. It’ll take a lot more than breaded tenderloins to put it out of commission.”

“Shane? What are you planning on doing?”

“You mean right now? I was thinking about putting you to bed. It’s no wonder you’re so exhausted, two glasses of wine aside.”

“No. I mean once we go home. What are you planning?”

His fingers stilled in her hair for a second before he resumed caressing it. “That depends on you, L
aura.”

Laura opened her eyes and watched the flames leaping, their frantic movements seeming to echo the beating of her heart.

  “I know what you’re thinking.”

She glanced up at his tone. “What?”

“You’re thinking I’m asking too much of you. But I have to do it. I have no other choice.”

“No. It’s me who has no choice, Shane.”

His features stiffened. “I’m gonna kill the son of a bitch who made you feel that way.”

He stopped her with a hand on her shoulder when she tried to sit up again. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said that. I didn’t mean to upset you.”

“Shane, please take me home,” Laura pleaded.

“Goddamn it, Laura, we’re not here because I want to be your adversary! I want to help you. Why won’t you let me?”

“You’re not helping me, you’re hurting me.”

His face collapsed for a brief second before he rallied, leaning toward her intently. “I know I’m being hard. But I can’t think how else to get through to you . . . to the woman I used to know.”

Laura’s shoulders sagged. “You’re making a mistake. You’re looking for something that’s not there. The Laura you used to know is gone, Shane.”

“I know you’re not the same as you were when you were twenty years old. I’m not that stupid.” He cupped her jaw and turned her head so that she’d meet his gaze. “But the essentials don’t change. You said so yourself. Don’t give up. Don’t.”

Her eyes widened in amazement at his stark intensity. His forceful will, his sheer charisma hooked and held her at his mercy.

“We still have tonight. We have tomorrow and tomorrow night. I’m not taking you back to Chicago until Monday either way, Laura. It’s only us here. No one else. Nothing else. Two more nights. Don’t you think what we once had warrants that, at least?”

Laura closed her eyes, wanting to guard Shane from the longing she was sure he would see in her gaze . . . wishing she could shield herself—

“Do you want me to tell you a truth I’m not particularly proud of, Laura?”

Her eyelids slowly came unglued at that.

“The Chicago media has been implying that I’ve been obsessed with the FBI’s investigation of corruption in the CPD. They’ve even hinted I might have a personal agenda for it. I’ve had to do a mini-PR campaign along with Jake Moriarity, the superintendent of the CPD, to assure the public that the investigation was to increase the public trust in the CPD, not decrease it.”

“I’m sorry the press has been giving you a hard time. I think you’re right. If you don’t expose the corruption and punish the wrongdoers, how is someone like Moriarity ever going to be able to make the changes necessary to ensure police corruption, especially at that level, never occurs again?”

Shane’s expression looked a little stunned and Laura thought she knew why. It was the first time she’d ever admitted to him she knew there was corruption at the CPD, let alone condemned it. For a second she thought he was going to interrogate her about her views, but he seemed to stop himself at the last second.

“Thanks for the vote of confidence, but what I was trying to actually tell you was that there’s more than a grain of truth to the press’s suspicions about me and the personal agenda. Not that the investigation wasn’t called for or that it doesn’t fall completely within the domain of the FBI’s jurisdiction. Investigating corruption in public officials is one of our prime directives. It’s just that . . .” His voice dropped in volume and Laura realized whatever he wanted to say was difficult for him.

“Remember how I told you about how I knew who Telly Ardos was because of his boss running a scam back in the nineties, replacing valuable gems with fakes while he was supposed to be creating new settings for the stones, cleaning jewelry, stuff like that?”

  Laura nodded.

“The thief’s name was Orvantes. The way I found out about that wasn’t professional. The incident became personal on more levels than one.”

“What do you mean?” Laura asked slowly. A thought occurred to her. Shane’s mother possessed some magnificent jewels, both heirlooms from her family and gifts from her husband. She also enjoyed sketching ideas for jewelry designs, both for her own gems and for some of her close friends who recognized her talent. “Did Elizabeth give some of her jewelry to Orvantes?”

Shane nodded, his blue eyes gleaming from the light of the fire. “Yeah. She gave him some of her older jewelry in order to have it reset in her own designs. Apparently Orvantes didn’t count on the fact that Mom knew what she was doing when it came to stone appraisal. She and Dad called the police on Orvantes and had him arrested, although nothing could ever be pinned on Orvantes’s assistant, Telly Ardos.

“Even though I wasn’t officially involved in the investigation, I poked around a little bit. Enough to find a connection between Orvantes’s little operation and Huey Mays. Enough to give me some information that led to some pretty unsavory suspicions about your husband. I didn’t have enough solid evidence to bring anything to the police, and at that time, the case didn’t fall under the Bureau’s jurisdiction. But I’d started to wonder about Huey and whether he was abusing his position as a police officer in order to commit crimes even back then, Laura.”

“I don’t understand why you’re telling me this, Shane.”

He raked his fingers through his dark hair and stared up at the ceiling for a few seconds, as though choosing his words carefully.

“I’m telling you because I was already itching to expose Huey Mays for what he was more than twelve years ago. I’ve lived in two other cities in the interim because of promotions at the Bureau. I’ve been on hundreds of different cases, done truckloads of administrative paperwork. A lot of years went by—a lot of water under the bridge. But I never forgot, Laura. I never forgot how much I wanted to nail Huey Mays.”

“And when you came back to Chicago, this time as the Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago offices . . . that’s what you did,” Laura added quietly.

He shook his head slowly. “What I’m really trying to confess is that I was gunning for Huey Mays from day one upon my return to Chicago. It just so happens that his abuse of power and crimes were much graver and further reaching than I’d ever imagined. The point is, I went after Huey because I wanted to expose him. Not to his honest, hardworking peers and not to the Chicago community. I wanted you to see him for what he was, Laura.”

A log fell in the fireplace, sending up sizzling sparks in the silence that followed. The flash of orange flame highlighted Shane’s intense, bold features.

“I never forgot. I never could let it go completely. I never could let you go.”

Laura watched him through a veil of tears.

“Almost fourteen years. And all I’m asking of you is two more nights. Say you’ll at least give me that.”

Emotion gripped her throat, making speech impossible. Anything . . . Anything to make this torture end.

  She nodded her head once.

And the next thing she knew she was in his arms.

They went to the bedroom soon afterward and Laura lay on the bed naked. Shane held her gaze as he restrained her wrists. She sensed he would have left her unrestrained if she requested it. But in all honesty, she’d grown to love having him restrain her so that he could worship, torment, and pleasure her, forever pushing at the boundaries of what she thought she could endure.

It felt so wonderful just to let go.

Shane kicked off his pajama bottoms and proceeded to make slow, sweet, thorough love to her, touching her everywhere, tasting her everywhere, insisting she survive in the center of the white-hot fire even as he amplified the temperature in her burning flesh.

Laura stared up at him later in wonder as he fucked her slow and deep. He’d bent her knees back into her chest, demanding she take everything he had to offer. She wanted to memorize how he looked at that moment, the torment of ecstasy tensing his bold features, every muscle in
his beautiful body flexed tightly. His eyes pierced straight through her when he met her gaze and leaned his upper body on the headboard of the bed.

  “You’re mine, Laura.”

She gasped when he began to ride her hard, straining for the release he’d denied himself as he pleasured her again and again. The thick ridge beneath the head of his cock stimulated her hard, deep, and fast, forcing her to go beyond submitting to her desire; demanding she drown in it. The headboard and his gripping knuckles knocked against the wall at a tempo that matched the blood pounding in her ears and the staccato beat of their bodies crashing together in a violent storm of ecstasy.

“Say it. Say it’s true. You’re mine,” Shane snarled.

  “Yes. It’s true.”

He slammed into her one last time, the sensation of his jerking, spasming cock lodged deep inside her flesh igniting her yet again.

“Shane?” she murmured softly minutes later against his neck. His breathing had become slow and regular but she wasn’t sure if he slept. He’d released her wrist restraints and turned off the bedside lamp. They both lay on their sides belly to belly, their limbs wrapped fast around the other so that they formed a secure, fleshy knot.

  “Hmm?”

“Do you remember when Peter found that bird with the broken wing?”

His head twisted, causing his chin to caress the top of her head. “Yes. He fed it with an eyedropper and kept it in one of Joey’s old hamster cages. Joey was the big-brother voice of doom, always predicting its death.”

“I thought it would die, too,” Laura murmured. “But it didn’t. And then it got better, and it started to flap at the cage. Peter was beside himself with worry that it’d redamage the wing he’d healed.”

“Using a Popsicle stick as a splint,” Shane added with amusement. “Kid probably would have become a doctor.”

Laura smiled sadly. They’d never know what Peter would have become. “Derrick told him he had to let it go. The noise of its wings batting against the cage was terrible.”
