Broken in Twilight

He wasn’t sure whether Yvar was dead or not. He suspected that he was. Why else had Nigesanla escaped in the middle of the night? He had helplessly watched her go, because he had been too tired to attack from so great a distance. Yvar’s widow had left together with the Ancilla Princeps and two men. One of them was probably Ghalatea’s husband, because they had kissed before boarding the planes.
It didn’t matter that he hadn’t been able to stop them. Nigesanla posed no threat, the Merzians were never going to put her on their throne. Ferhdessar was going to rule Merzia. But not for long.
Smiling, Kasimirh walked on. He felt privileged to be here: at the place where Jakob had created the world. This was the centre of the world. Kasimirh knelt on the cracked flagstones and thanked God. An incredible feeling came over him. Lately, he had often thought that Jakob had forgotten about him, but He hadn’t. Better still, He made him a promise.
Here – at the Fountain of Origin – Kasimirh was going to see Lilith again.
