Rise to Love [Rise of the Changelings 1] (Siren Publishing Epic Romance, ManLove) Page 8

Smelling Dorian’s release, Rick shot his hips forward, burying his cock deep in the man’s throat as he grunted around Dorian’s softening shaft. His cock exploded, ribbons of spurting seed were swallowed quickly by his lover.

Rick eased Dorian from between his lips, feeling boneless. Now that was what he needed.

Without a word, Dorian slid from Rick and stretched out on the bed beside him.

Rick knew that what they just shared was nothing more than two people reaching for each other in the middle of chaos and confusion.

So why did he have an urge to pull the man close and cuddle him?

  Chapter Eight

Rick heard Dorian draw in a loud breath when they pulled up to the house they were supposed to be lying low at. There were cars parked all along the driveway, and some were even parked on the grass. Rick could tell the entire pack was here.

“I thought we were supposed to be hiding?”

“We are,” Rick said as he maneuvered his Mustang around the throng of cars, getting as close to the house as he could. He had called his pack here. They needed to know what was going on. It involved a lot of them from the pictures the wererats had given him. Things were getting out of control, and Rick needed to snuff out the hyenas responsible for the photos and bring peace to his pack once more.

He also needed to clear his and Dorian’s names with the cops in Shelton.

The pack wasn’t going to like the fact that their shifts had been caught on camera. Half of them were going to want blood. Some of his pack members held very important jobs and would go nuts if discovered to be changeling.

“Rick,” Nate said from the porch, “everyone is here and waiting for you inside.”

“Thanks.” He waited by the steps for Dorian to catch up with him. The man seemed hesitant as he walked slowly toward them. His eyes were guarded as he glanced around at all the cars parked at the house.

“What’s going on?” Dorian glanced up and saw Nate on the porch, his expression going from wary to angry in the span of a second. “What’s he doing here?” He shoved his hands into his front pockets, stopping where he was, not coming any further.

“Dorian, this is Nathaniel, my top enforcer.”

“Your what?” Dorian asked, narrowing his eyes at Nate. “I just thought he was a douchebag relative of Miguel’s.”

Nate laughed. “He knows me so well already.”

Rick elbowed the guy. “Knock it off. He’s been through enough already.”

Both men stared at him. He wasn’t sure why Dorian was looking at him strangely, but he knew why Nate was giving him a quizzical look. Dorian was human and probably not going to cut it in the end.

So why was Rick defending the human? He wasn’t sure, but he ignored both of them as he opened the door and walked inside. The Wallington place was pretty big, but it seemed small with so many people gathered inside. Rick saw that some of the pack had spilled out into the backyard.

“What is going on, Alpha?” George, one of his pack members, asked.

“Some new developments, George. I’ll tell everyone soon enough.” He moved through the room, barely able to make it past everyone without bumping into people. Most moved aside to let him through, but there really wasn’t much room to move aside.

He spotted Omar to the far right of the living room, standing off by himself and looking sullen. That wasn’t how Omar usually looked. The man was a wealth of information and loved to share what he knew most. But the guy just stood there, his hands in his trouser pockets, glancing around at everyone.

Rick walked over, smiling. Omar was one of his candidates, after all. “Why are you standing against the wall, Omar?”

The changeling shrugged, which wasn’t his usual reaction when Rick normally approached him. The man used to be enamored with Rick. Now he didn’t seem too interested. Not that Rick wanted the man falling all over him. He didn’t want to be in this mate thing any more than Dorian did. But as alpha, he took care of his pack members. If something was bothering Omar, he wanted to know about it. “Just too crowded in here.”

Rick could smell the lie and it pissed him off. But he didn’t come here to pick a fight with one of his candidates. He would talk to Omar privately later. Maybe the man didn’t want anyone else to know.

Nodding, Rick moved further into the room, everyone greeting him. He wanted to shout for the people surrounding him to give him room, but he stopped himself. Alphas couldn’t appear weak. Letting everyone know he felt like he was suffocating wasn’t something he was going to do.

Rick stilled when the metallic scent of blood filled the air. The entire room grew quiet. His mouth began to salivate, his instincts trying to make him shift so he could hunt the wounded prey. “Who’s bleeding?” he asked quietly, fighting against his natural drives to kill that which bled.

“I cut my hand on this stupid sculpture,” Dorian said from across the room. He was standing there examining his hand, unaware of the danger he was in. Rick took in a deep breath to calm his nerves, but instead, swallowed the sweet smell all the way down his throat. Nate stood next to him, his jade-green eyes glowing yellow. “Who in the hell would have such a sharp piece of trashy art sitting out for someone to get hurt?” Dorian continued, unaware of the entire room’s attention on him.

Rick’s werewolf form burst from his skin as the scent grew stronger. He howled and then tore through the room at incredible speed. He had to save the human. He grabbed Dorian and flung him out of the front door, the entire room shifting as well, trying to go after the human. There was nothing Rick could do. The changelings were going off of natural instincts to hunt when they smelled something wounded. It was an inborn need so great that Rick feared he wouldn’t get Dorian to safety in time. The pack was coming after them, snarls and howls erupting all around him.

“Run to the car, Dorian, now!”

Dorian didn’t hesitate. The man took off, running toward the Mustang. Rick spun around, snarling and snapping his jaws. “Anyone who goes nears him dies.” He didn’t wait for affirmation. Rick slammed the front door shut behind him and raced toward Dorian. He was fighting his baser instincts as well, but being an alpha, he had a little more control than the others when it came to hunting and killing. Dorian was damn lucky. He jumped behind the wheel, started the car, and then took off from the house at breakneck speed.

“What the fuck was that all about?” Dorian asked as he cradled the wounded hand to his chest. Rick tried to hold his breath. The interior of the car flooded with the coppery scent, making his hands grip the wheel tighter. He could tell Dorian was trying not to freak out seeing Rick in his third form. The man was holding it together better than Rick had thought the man would when seeing his werewolf form. He had expected Dorian to freak out, run, or even pass out. He seemed more worried about his hand at the moment.

Said a lot about the human if he was this composed.

“You bled. They reacted to the scent.”

Dorian’s eyes widened. “They wanted to eat me?”

  “Basically, yes.”

“Shit,” Dorian mumbled under his breath. “And you?”

“I want to lick the blood from your hand and then feast on the wound.” Why lie?

“Stop the fucking car,” Dorian shouted. “Now!”

Rick pulled over and Dorian jumped out, backing away, still cradling the wounded hand to his chest. Rick growled, the urge to go after the man so strong that it took sheer will to stay rooted to his seat. Right now, Dorian was prey, not his nominee. The man was human, weaker, and bleeding. How much more of a temptation could that be? Rick couldn’t help the way he felt. He didn’t like that he wanted to tear into Dorian, but he was who he was.

“You are all a bunch of fucking nuts!” Dorian began to walk down the road. “Forget about me being a nominee. Go fuck yourself, Mr. Marcelo.”

Rick slipped out of the car, the metallic rich scent immediately fading away. He was able to get a better grip on himself and think a little more clear
ly. He still wanted to eat Dorian, but the urge wasn’t making him insane, just mildly disturbed. “You can’t just walk down the damn road, Dorian. Any cop could come by and pick you up, or worse, a werehyena could be close by.”

“I’d rather take my chances with them. You are all a bunch of psychos.”

Dorian didn’t know what he was saying. Werehyenas would be ten times worse. The savage bastards would be feasting on Dorian already. He had gotten Dorian away from his pack in time and was doing a damn good job of controlling himself.

  “Get in the car, Dorian.”

Dorian lifted his hand and flipped Rick off, never stopping.

Rick shut his car door and began to follow the human.

“Get your furry ass away from me.” Dorian picked up his pace. “You’re weirding me out.”

Rick knew he looked the sight. He was walking upright, yet he was covered in fur. It was his third form, what all werewolf changelings shifted into. It was normal. His jaw was extended, his claws were razor-sharp, and he had grown two inches. He was massive in size now and wondered why Dorian wasn’t running down the road screaming. “I don’t give a fuck what I’m doing to you. Get your ass back in the car, now!”

Dorian stopped walking and turned around. “I’m not changeling. That voice won’t work on me. Piss off, Rick.” Although Rick could see the need to obey in Dorian’s pretty brown eyes, the man hadn’t come to him.

  Pretty?

  Rick went after Dorian.

  The man ran.

  Rick ran faster.

  Dorian yelled.

  Rick growled.

He caught Dorian around his waist and hauled him off of his feet, tossing the human over his shoulder. “I won’t let you go to jail.”

“I’m not going back there. There is an entire house full of werewolves, waiting to eat me.”

Rick walked back to the car, depositing Dorian in the passenger’s seat. He paced back and forth, exhaling loudly. He had smelled Dorian’s blood as soon as he had grabbed the man. He needed distance, but right now that wasn’t a good thing—not when werehyenas were hell-bent on getting both of them out of the picture. They could be anywhere, watching, waiting to attack.

  Fuck, he hated that feeling.

“We are changelings, Dorian. We shift, hunt, and kill.”

  “Humans?”

Rick shook his head. “No, but smelling your blood brought out our beasts. It’s an instinctual reaction for our kind.”

“What in the hell am I doing here? If you pick me, which I am highly protesting, then the first time I knick myself, I’m someone’s snack. Thanks, but no thanks.”

Rick never would have pegged Dorian as a strong person. From the limited encounters he had with the man at work, he had taken Dorian as more of a quiet, meek sort of guy. Boy, had he been wrong.

And it was fucking turning him on.

Rick didn’t want to be turned on. He wanted this mating crap to just disappear. Pacing a hell of a lot more, Rick finally got his need to hunt and kill under control. It wasn’t fully leashed, but he could stand there and talk to Dorian without wanting to eat the damn man. “You won’t have to worry about that, if you are the chosen one.”

“Chosen one? That sounds like a cheesy line from a movie. And what the hell do you mean I won’t have to worry about that? You saw how they reacted to the smell of blood. I can tell you are fighting it as well.”

“It means,” Rick said as he felt himself slowly shifting back to his human form, he was drained now, but he fought the need to lie down and rest, “that if you become my mate, you will become changeling.”

“Oh, hell no!” Dorian shot out of the seat, trying his best to get past Rick, but Rick grabbed the man and slung him back into the car. He was exhausted, hungry, and tired of this argument already. All he wanted to do was find something to eat and lie down.

  “Sit the fuck still.”

“Screw you. I’m not becoming furry.”

“You don’t have to, but it will be better if you are going to live in changeling society.”

“I was quite happy living in a human society.”

“I can smell a lie, Dorian, and right now, you smell noxious.” It stunned Rick that Dorian was lying. The man hadn’t been happy living with the humans? He wasn’t sure what to think now. There was more to this man than met the eye.

Dorian turned in the seat, crossing his arms over his chest and ignoring Rick. Unfortunately, Rick was standing on the side of the road naked. If he didn’t want to draw any unwanted attention to himself—and thankfully he hadn’t while in his werewolf form—he needed to get back to the Wallington place. Dorian’s furtive looks hadn’t gone unnoticed, and for some strange-ass reason, it pleased Rick that the man was stealing glances at his groin.

He shook his head. He was finally losing it. A human was turning him on. What next, he would fall head over heels for a wereswan? This shit was getting too damn complicated. They had fooled around last night, nothing more. It hadn’t meant anything. Rick reached into the backseat and grabbed the towel he kept in the back and covered the driver’s seat.

Sitting on leather when naked was not a good feeling to him. His back was already going to stick to the material as it was. He didn’t want his sensitive parts sticking as well. There were just some things a man should avoid at all cost, and having his balls ripped from leather when he got out of a car was one of them.

Dorian wasn’t sure what to do. The reaction back at the house had scared the shit out of him. He had never seen a person shift from human into a werewolf before, let alone an entire house full of people. And on the inside, he was freaking out big-time.

But that was not what was on his mind right now. Rick sitting next to him completely naked was not going unnoticed. It was like a train wreck. He wanted to look away, he really did, but his eyes kept getting drawn right back to the large, half-hard cock sitting between the man’s legs.

He had sucked the man’s dick last night, but it had been dark and Dorian hadn’t gotten a good look. The erection had felt large in his mouth, but not that he was seeing Rick’s cock…damn. He was thoroughly impressed.

“I know you’re peeking,” Rick said, but his tone wasn’t playful. It was filled with a sound only a man made when lust was the only thing on the guy’s mind. Images of what Rick looked like just a few short moments ago were enough to shut Dorian’s libido down. The guy had been a freaky-looking werewolf, fur and all. That was not sexy in his book. But Rick in human form, sitting there gloriously naked was a whole other story.

“You wish.” And so did Dorian, but he just couldn’t get past the fur or claws that he had seen. The man had also appeared larger, more massive, like he had grown an inch or two and expanded wider than a damn tree trunk. He liked science fiction, but seeing it in real life was fucking with his head. The man had gotten furry. Dorian wasn’t sure if he was calm because he was in shock or if his brain wasn’t processing the fact properly. Either way, he wasn’t going to look at Rick’s cock.

“So do you.” It was a statement of fact.

Dorian quickly looked away when the half-erect cock began to thicken even further. He was not going to do this. The heat in his face became hotter, and then Dorian reached for the door.

Rick grabbed his arm, gently. “You can’t go out there.”

“I sure as hell can’t stay in here.” His hand hurt, but the bleeding had stopped. It was a thin line down his palm now, red and irritated, but he could deal with it. What he couldn’t deal with was a naked man sitting next to him with a hard cock. He didn’t even know the guy for fuck’s sake. There was no way he was having sex with him. Sucking dick was one thing, full out sex was another. He wasn’t even sure why he had given in to his need last night. But Dorian was not going to repeat that mistake again.

No matter how much he wanted to.

  “I’ll behave.”

There went that lustful tone again. “No, you won’t.”

  “Okay, I’m lying.”
/>
Dorian turned, seeing a smile playing on Rick’s lips. Did the man know how utterly handsome he was when he smiled? He became angry with himself. Rick was changeling. There wasn’t going to be any more fooling around and there definitely wasn’t going to be any sex. “You are getting a real kick out of this, aren’t you?”

“I never could understand the sexually repressed human society,” Rick said in a sensual tone that begged to be listened to. The man moved closer, his face inches from Dorian’s. “Tell me, Dorian. Do I have to date you before I can shove all ten inches into your ass?”

  Dorian swallowed his tongue.

“I’ll take that as a yes.” Rick moved away and grabbed the towel, spreading it over his lap. “Sit back and buckle up.” The car started and Rick’s playfulness was gone. Dorian did as the man asked. There was nothing else for him to do. Staring wasn’t an option. If he stared long enough, that long, oh-so-thick ten inches just might get buried inside of him.

God, he was hard once again for a changeling. Somebody just shoot me.

  Chapter Nine

Dorian sat outside the Wallington place in the car, even when Rick protested. He was not about to go back inside. Those people scared the shit out of him. Dorian had to promise to honk the horn if anything spooked him.

He should be honking until morning because everyone in that damn house spooked him.

But Dorian sat in the seat, staring at the house, his hand away from the horn. He couldn’t stop thinking about Rick’s cock. No matter what he tried to think of to distract those disturbing thoughts, his mind wandered back to those full ten inches.

Damn, ten inches? There was no denying that Rick was very well endowed. Dorian had seen the proof with his own eyes and tasted it last night. He moaned to himself and pressed the palm of his hand into his groin. He was not going to repeat last night or go all the way with Rick. Dorian didn’t care how curious he was to find out how Rick would feel—“Stop it.”
