Kiss & Tell

She turned to leave.
And ran smack into Willy. She was holding The Complete Works of Charles Dickens in her hands.
“You’re here!” Allistair and Willy said at the same time.
They both began to talk at once. Willy said, “Sorry, I’m late. I didn’t know what to wear. Should I go catholic, or western-themed or maybe even nude…”
Allistair overlapped, “I thought for a minute you weren’t showing up. I thought you had played me for a fool…”
They stopped talking at the same time.
“Sorry,” Willy said. “You go first.”
“No,” Allistair said. “You talk. I’ll listen.”
“Okay,” Willy said. “I pretty much suck at talking about feelings and shit. But here goes. I’ll just lay it all out there. I’ll just… put all my cards on the table. Okay?”
“Okay.”
“I want a do-over.”
Allistair gave her a quizzical look. “A do-over?”
“Yeah, I know I was an ass-hat before. Like most of the time you spent with me. But the thing is… I like you. I really, really like you.”
Allistair smiled. “I like you, too.”
Willy blushed. “That was a lie. I just told you a big fat lie.”
“A lie?”
Willy nodded. “I don’t like you.”
“Oh.”
“I love you,” Willy said.
“You do?”
“Yeah, I love the shit outta you. And I want a second chance. You think maybe we can have a do-over? I promise this time I won’t be an ass. Well, maybe a little ass-ish, but I’ll try to be better and I promise you won’t regret it and I’ll even…”
“Shut up and kiss me,” Allistair said.
“Huh?”
Allistair grabbed Willy’s face between her hands, pulled her close and kissed her.
The kiss was the kind of kiss that put the wings on angels’ backs, made dogs’ tails wag, made kittens purr and put the oomph in making love.
Allistair looked Willy in the eye and said, “I love you too, you idiot.”
