A quick shift of her hips drew his gaze up to her face and he saw the naked longing in her eyes. “Can I-”

She lifted a hand and snapped open the clasp at the front of her bra and leaned forward, just enough to press her breasts into his hands. “I think if you don’t put your hands on me soon, I’m going to lose my mind.”

He let a moment go before he moved his hands, lifting them away from her breasts, watching as the pale pink cups fell away from her beautiful breasts. He only wished that there was more light in the room. He knew what her skin looked like in the sun, bronzed perfection, smooth as silk. Still, he couldn’t resist the ability to touch her. His hands held her gently, cupping the warm weight in his palms, brushing his thumbs over her tight nipples and making both of them groan.

And when he rolled her nipples between the tips of his fingers, he felt her thighs clamp tight on his hips and she rose a fraction of an inch to grind her core against his erection.

“Almost the perfect fucking fantasy.” The words escaped before he even consciously conceived of the thought.

She licked her lips and looked down at him. “What’s that?”

“If only you had your badge,” his smile felt more like a smirk, he hooked his fingers into the waistband of her uniform pants. “I’m kind of sad that you left your belt and cuffs in the other room. Then I’d have to wonder if there should be some kind of crazy porn music on the radio.”

“I just think it’s wrong that you’re talking about a radio.” She laughed as she tried to shrug her shirt and bra off her shoulders.

“Here, let me help with that.” Pushing off the bed he sat up and smiled at her. “How did I get so lucky?” He pulled the fabric down her arms and tossed it onto an easy chair within reach.

“Lucky?” She laughed and drew his hands back up to her breasts. She draped her arms over his shoulders and leaned in closer to his mouth and drew in a breath as his fingers plucked at her nipples. “I’m lucky you haven’t come to your senses.”

“Stop that.” He wrapped his arms around her, smoothing one hand over her lower back and cupping his other hand at the nape of her neck. It took him less than a heartbeat to turn the tables on her and have her flat on her back under him. “Don’t you dare.”

“It’s just the truth and you-”

He silenced her with a kiss. And he didn’t once worry about the chance that she might have bitten his tongue as he slipped it past her teeth. He delved into her mouth and felt the warm heat of her breath, the subtle texture of her tongue, and took a moment to imagine what that supple, distracting caress would feel like on his dick.

  Heaven.

And he couldn’t wait another minute.

He got up and yanked off his shirt, taking a moment to undo the button at his waist before he placed one knee on the bed and helped Pilar take off her pants. He didn’t waste more than a moment looking at the beautiful contrast of her warm skin tone and the pale pink of her panties before they too were gone.

Roan didn’t miss the hungry look she gave him as she began to reach for his pants. He shook his head and dropped his pants down to the floor leaving his boxers in place.

As he got to the edge of the bed, he saw her narrowed eyes and plump lips.

“Why won’t you let me help?”

“If I feel your skin against me, I don’t know how long I’m going to last. And I want this to last for a while.”

She looked up at him, her hair heavy against her shoulders, her eyes open and deceptively innocent. “Later. You said I could have my wicked way with you.”

He should have known what she was going to do. Pilar was as fast and decisive as she was beautiful.

She stood up and grabbed the waistband of his boxers and pulled.

Instead of sitting down again, she knelt on the bed and pulled him closer still. Determined not to fall, he reached down and set his hands on her shoulders, steadying himself.

And then he saw the smile on her gorgeous face.

  So damn wicked.

  “Fuck.”

She’d dreamed of this moment. Quite literally, in fact. Oh, she’d had her hands on him, over his clothes, and she knew the hard thickness that swelled against his jeans.

And his scrubs, late one night.

  Or early one morning.

It just depended on how you looked at time.

And it was time for her to become intimate with the one part of him that she was so very eager to become acquainted with.

It was beautiful. The tight smile on her lips only served to keep her from drooling at the sight. Her fingers tightened on the waistband of his boxers, her knuckles achingly close to brushing against the underside of his cock. His hands remained on her shoulders, but she could sense the tension building in him with the way his fingers curled slightly against her skin, the indrawn breaths that provided the stunning backdrop of his toned and muscular abs.

“I can feel your breath.” The words were soft, tight, as they fell on her from above. “It feels incredible.”

The sight on her end wasn’t so bad either. The dark hairs at the base of his cock gave the tip of her finger a little scratch. She fixed her eyes on one bluish vein that crept up his shaft like a vine climbing up a castle tower, etching its way through the rock and tantalizing her imagination. When she reached the underside of its head, she swept her tongue along the back of her teeth and felt both her mouth and pussy wet with need. As she lifted her gaze beyond its thick head to look up at Roan’s face, Pilar watched as he dropped his chin to meet her eyes with his.

“You,” his shoulders rose and fell with a deep, desperate breath, “look so damn beautiful, I can’t wait-”

  Neither could she.

Extending her tongue, she touched the tip of it near the base of his shaft. She raised slowly up on her knees, following that same vein along every curve and turn, finishing with a little lick at the flared underside of his tip.

Again, she followed another vein, discovering the taste and scent of his skin. Delighting in the way he spoke, or rather, how he growled and groaned at her exploration, she did it a few more times, back and forth, as his hips flexed and his thighs rocked toward her.

The weight of his cock against her tongue was a heady sensation, but so was the raspy tone of his voice. “Pink,” he gasped, “damn pink panties...”

She shifted her hands around, letting go of his boxers, only to dig her fingers into the toned curves of his ass as she licked his length one more time.

“I bet,” he hissed as her fingernails bit lightly into his skin, “you taste like cotton candy too.”

  That was it.

  She had to have him.

And as her tongue reached the underside of his cock, only one hand remained where they had been, the other wrapped around the base of his cock and tipped it out and away from his belly and into her mouth.

She took him in one long sensuous slide until he tapped the back of her throat. Pilar rubbed her tongue near the base and felt the subtle scratch of his veins. Her nipples were aching with need, but deep between her thighs she felt empty, begging for his touch.

But Pilar needed him, not just hungry to be inside of her, but starved. She could handle sweet or loving later, but first… she needed him desperate. She needed Roan Ashley to push inside of her and take them both far, far over the edge. So, she pulled back until he was free of her mouth and then took him back in, further. Again and again she swallowed him and teased him with tongue and teeth until his breaths were ragged and shallow. Her nails bit and her hands soothed as she lost herself in his feel and taste.

Just when she felt him tense, she drew back and looked up at him with a smile. His hair was wet, the ends at his temples were stuck to his skin, near his dark and steely eyes. His hands took her hands away from him and before she knew what he was doing, he had her by the waist and lifted her, placing her higher on the bed as he kicked off his boxers.

“You did that on purpose.” He had to step on the fabric to get i
t free of his leg. “You wanted to drive me crazy.”

She could only smile at him for a long moment and then lifted a hand to crook her finger. “I’m hoping it worked.”

  “You know it did.”

She watched him set a knee down on the edge of the bed and in a slow crawl that had her whole body hot for his touch, he advanced toward her. They’d already had a discussion about this, being with a doctor came with the advantages of frank discussions on sex. Her implant and both of their blood tests made it possible for them to get right down to what they both wanted.

  Each other.

He drew her knees up and slowly spread them open while he took a good long look at her sex. The muscles in his arms flexed as he trailed his fingers from her knees and up her inner thighs.

As he braced himself, using his knees to lift her up and open her wider, he trailed two fingers through the slick heat of her folds. Roan slipped them inside of her and curled them against her walls before drawing them back out and over his tongue.

His smile of satisfaction made her moan, her head lolling back against the bed, only to snap back up again as she felt his cock slide home. One long, heavy push and he was there. Inside of her. Filling her. Spreading her open and wide around him.

It took a precious second or two to adjust to his size, but the instant he rose above her and started to draw back out, she hooked her ankles at his back and pressed him deeper.

“Yes,” she sighed... and arched her back from the bed. “Yes, like that.”

Pilar closed her eyes for a moment and listened to his ragged breaths, her own breathy sighs, and the rhythmic slap of skin against skin as Roan found a frantic rhythm that drove them higher and harder toward that release they both needed.

“More.” Her fingers found his shoulders and her toes curled as he changed the angle of his strokes. “You feel so good inside me.”

He cursed under his breath and she felt his back arch as his thighs tensed under her. Pilar loosened one hand from his shoulders and slipped it between them, brushing a finger over his abs a moment before she set it at the apex of her thighs and pressed it gently against her clit.

“Stars,” she sighed. She saw a burst of stars in her vision.

“Again,” he groaned, and she saw that he was watching her hand.

Pressing two fingers against her clit with a short, circular motion set her off.

Her scream caught in her throat before bursting from it, echoing her release against the walls, mixing her voice with his deep-throated growl as he emptied himself into her. The sensations inside of her rose again, taking her over the edge a second time as she felt him draw her closer.

Wrapped in his arms, her body shivering and shaking, Pilar curled up against his chest and waited for the world to go still around her. But it didn’t.

Where she was, with Roan, she could hear the pounding of his heartbeat, felt secure in the safety of his arms, and she knew that she’d never be the same.

Roan was making coffee just before dawn when someone knocked on the door. He certainly wasn’t going to answer it. He was going to crawl back in bed as soon as he had a cup and spend some time admiring the woman who had claimed a permanent place in his heart.

Smiling, he remembered waking up with Pilar curled up against his side, her hair tickling his chest. There was nothing so beautiful as his woman asleep against him.

The knock sounded again and Roan stepped past the countertop and looked over toward the bedroom. Good, he’d remembered to close the door. Maybe the sound wouldn’t bother Pilar.

The coffee machine hissed and gurgled and it was only when the dark roast brew started to drip into the carafe that he saw movement outside of the bay window.

His sister was standing there, her hands on her hips and her eyes narrowed almost to slits.

Roan wasn’t sure why she looked so angry and then he saw her drop her gaze for a split second before she gave him a WTF look.

Looking down, he realized that it was indeed morning and while it wasn’t all that strange to wake up hard, he knew that his current state was because he was hungry for Pilar. Holding up a hand to get his sister to wait, because he certainly wasn’t going to get her to calm down, Roan moved quietly into the bedroom and picked up his pants off of the floor and pulled them on.

Once he managed to adjust enough that he wasn’t going to turn blue below the belt, he walked quickly through the main room and unlocked the door to let Kate inside.

She almost knocked him to the floor on her way in. “Just what the hell is this?”

“This,” he told his sister in a not-so-pleasant tone, “is you butting in before I’ve had my coffee.”

“This,” she shot back, “is not your apartment.”

“I was invited in,” he explained.

“Like a fucking vampire....” She looked around the room and then settled her eyes on the bedroom door, which he had shut again. “Is she okay?”

He smiled and walked back over to the counter. “There she is... my big sister being all cuddly and warm in one breath and breathing fire in the next.”

Kate moved closer and sniffed the air. The coffee machine was almost done with its brew. “Maybe it’s because I haven’t had my coffee yet.”

He shook his head. “Nope. Don’t buy that lie. I know you better.” Her narrowed look didn’t fool him one bit. “Honestly, I don’t know. She was angry last night when I got here. She’s sleeping right now, but I’m guessing you’re not here to wake her up for work?”

Kate shook her head. “She’s on leave, just like that bastard Burke.”

“See, you do have favorites. You said you didn’t do that with your officers.”

“Yeah,” she sighed, “well, I was full of bullshit if I said that. But really, if you had a nuisance like Burke on your team, you’d call him a bastard too.”

Roan took another cup out and poured coffee into both before he slid one across the counter toward his sister. “Is this going to look bad on her record? Is there something I can do?”

She looked a little worried. “I’m not worried about this incident per se. I believe there are some witnesses going on record who will say she was doing the right thing, the problem is Burke. He’s born and raised here in Center City. Precinct Four is his beat and where he feels he has the home advantage.”

“But he thinks she’s competition somehow?” He took a sip and enjoyed the burn of the coffee on his tongue. He’d gotten used to drinking it like that in Med School.

Kate stared into her coffee cup with a pensive look. “That’s the problem. She is competition. In just a few short months the other officers have taken notice. She doesn’t hold back and she jumps right in. People naturally seek her out when they shy away from him. They see his temper, his short comings, but there are those in the ranks who put up with him because he’s fourth generation CCPD. His uncle is a Captain across town, but I think even he keeps Burke at arm’s length because he’s just trouble.

“Pilar could really rise up in the ranks if she wanted to, but I don’t think she’s really in it for that.”

He shook his head and took another sip. “No. I don’t either. Her brother being FBI, she could have easily used his connections if she stayed in San Antonio.”

Now it was her turn to smile. “But I bet you’re glad she moved here.”

“Absolutely. I’ve sent a couple texts out to my colleagues. If they can switch some shifts with me, I’d like to stay with her during her leave, or at least,” he could feel his cheeks warming under his sister’s microscope-like gaze, “be around if she needs me.”

Kate’s laugh didn’t faze him all that much, because he knew how much she enjoyed moments like this. “I told you so.”

He played dumb just for fun. “Told me what?”

She set her cup down and walked over to him. He had just enough time to set his cup down before she jabbed him in the ribs with a finger. “You did it. You went and fell for the girl.”

“It’s hard not to fall when she can take me down to the ground in two seconds flat.”

  “One.”

They both turned to look at the bedroom doorway. Pilar finished her yawn as she tied her robe together, her legs mostly bare except for the ends of an oversized sleep shirt.

“It only takes me a second to take you down to the floor. Don’t make me look bad in front of my Sergeant.”

Kate gave her a motherly look as Pilar walked toward the kitchen. “How are you feeling?”

Before Roan turned to get another cup out of the cupboard, he saw Pilar look toward him and blush. She already complained of being a little sore, but there was no way she would tell that to Kate.

Kate, on the other hand, seemed to guess it straight away. “Oh. Oh no. Don’t even... never mind. Forget I asked. I meant about... never mind.”

Pilar’s face burned even hotter as he made his way over and put the cup of coffee in her hands. Then he pulled her close against his side and she leaned her cheek against his chest and sighed. “I’m okay. I’ve played it over and over in my head, but I honestly don’t think I would have done anything different. I take our oath to serve and protect at face value. I’m not going to let anyone badger someone like that.”

Kate’s smile was almost full. “Well, I think it’s a good idea to let things simmer down for a few days. That’s why I came by to check and see if you have plans for the next few days.”

Roan felt Pilar pull away and when he looked down, he saw her looking up at him with a curiously hopeful look in her eyes. “Did you really want to shift your schedule around for me?”

“Of course. Besides, Sarah called me. We need to go back and pick up something from her store.”

He felt Pilar pull away as she gave him a suspicious look. “What did you buy?”

  He shrugged. “A housewarming gift.”

Kate crooked an eyebrow up at him. “You got me a gift card to a meal delivery service.”
