She closed her eyes and threw back her head, moaning. Evan exploded inside of her, and his arms that had been holding him up collapsed. Trembling he laid on her for a few seconds. “Oh...my...God.” Deb sighed. “That was amazing...”

Evan looked over and saw that it was Deb laying beside him, and not Lindsey. He closed his eyes and exhaled loudly. What the t-total fuck was that? Jesus... He rolled over and started to get up. Deb put her arm out, resting her hand on his shoulder. “Hey...don't go...Do you want to, um, talk or something?”

He stood up and looked back at her. “I gotta go...I have some things to take care of.”

He saw the disappointment fall over her face, and she looked down.

  “Oh...okay.”

Walking over to the bathroom he closed the door behind him. He leaned against the wall with one hand as he urinated. His mind was a million miles away. The fact that he had basically just fantasized about having sex with his father's new bride was not sitting well...to say the least. It's not like she's a real bride. I mean clearly she's a gold digger, and he's just having some fun. He flushed the toilet and went to the sink to wash his hands. Looking at his reflection in the mirror he shook his head. No... His dad wasn't that type... Quite frankly he hadn't gotten that impression from her either.

Walking back into Deb's cozy little bedroom he saw that she was still in bed. She was sitting up though, and her big boobs were exposed.

“I know that you're like...outta my league or whatever...but I wish you would do more than just have sex with me then leave.” She looked over at him with those big eyes, and they had a little glimmer to them. Oh jeez… she's gonna cry. “I know Deb. Look, it's like I told you from the beginning,” He began as he started pulling on his pants. “My life is pretty complicated right now.” Looking around he spotted his shirt and retrieved it. He pulled it on and looked at her. She was staring at him with a sad look on her face.

She sighed and got out of the bed. Walking past him toward the bathroom she touched his arm lightly. “Well why don't you get your shit together, then give me a call?” Letting her arm fall by her side she stepped into the bathroom. “See ya around Evan ... Could you lock the door when you leave, please?”

Trevor answered the phone, with a little resignation. “Hey Evan ... What's up?”

Trevor frowned as the silence on the other end lasted for what seemed to be an eternity.

Finally Evan responded. “I just wanted to talk to you I guess. Is that okay? I mean we are brothers after all. BLOOD...brothers. Right?”

Silence as Trevor held his tongue. Evan had grown increasingly pointed over the last few years. It always seemed that he was on the verge of picking a fight, constantly throwing jabs and barbs in Trevor and Bethany's direction. It made Trevor's blood boil.

“Yes... Evan. We are brothers. So... What do you want to talk about?”

Trevor walked to his study and opened up his desk drawer. He started looking for a pad of paper and a pen.

“Meet me down at the club...would you? I mean...when's the last time we hung out?” Evan asked, his tone softening.

Trevor found a pen and jotted down a note to himself as he considered Evan's offer.

“I don't know Ev... I kinda got some things to do. Maybe another time.”

A moment of silence passed, and Evan sighed.

“Okay bro. Sorry to bother you. I just wanted to see how you were...how Dad's marriage is affecting you. Are you okay with it?”

Trevor set the pen down. He stared out the window for a second as he thought. He honestly hadn't thought about how he felt about it.

“I...I don't know... I guess I'll know after the party.”

Trevor could hear Evan nodding his head on the other side and smiled.

  “Yeah...me too.” Came Evan's response.

“Alright...well I'll see you at the party, and maybe we can go out for a beer soon.”

Trevor smiled a little. It had been a while since just he and Evan had hung out.

  “Yeah Ev... I'd like that.”

A split second of silence and Trevor was about to hang up, when Evan said softly, “Okay Trev. I love you man.”

And then Evan hung up without waiting for a response. He might have been waiting for a while, as Trevor sat in stunned silence. Evan had not said that he loved Trevor...or Bethany for that matter, in years.

Trevor set his phone down and stared at it, as if waiting for Evan to call back directly and say “Just kidding... I don't want to hang out with you, and I definitively do not love you. You loser.”

He stood, waiting for a couple of minutes. Realizing that what had been said was not a joke; he shook his head and laughed at himself. Picking up his phone he deposited it into his pocket and then grabbed the note he had written himself. He folded and put it into his pocket.

Walking out of his study, he crossed the living room, thinking. Something was on Evan's mind that was for sure. What happened to us? We used to be so tight. “Thick as thieves” Dad had said with a smile. He reached the table where he kept his keys, and he picked them up. “We grew up...that's what happened.” He said aloud.

No... That’s not it. Well it was part of it. Trevor walked to the couch and turned on the lamp next to it, so when he came home he wouldn't be in darkness. No, the truth was Trevor had grown jealous of Evan's success. First when Evan had signed his big league contract. Oh how the family and friends had cheered his success!

When Evan had not made it, Trevor had found himself quietly smiling at Evan's failure. But when Evan had gotten himself together and had invested in the movies, Trevor had found that sullen pit in his stomach return. If Trevor were to be truthful, Evan had always been gracious with his successes. He had not thrown it in Trevor's face, and had even put up half the capital for the restaurant venture. No...Trevor and Evan had grown apart because of Bethany.

Trevor scanned his condo and then walked out the door. He walked to the elevator and pushed the “down” arrow. She had always been nice to me... and still is. We are just closer, she and I. Why should I have to feel bad about it? The doors opened with a swoosh and Trevor stepped into the empty elevator. He pulled out the piece of paper he had written on and studied it as the doors closed quietly.

  6 CHAPTER SIX

“We'd like to thank everyone for coming!” Roger Chamberlain said from the mini stage that had been set up on the vast lawn of the Chamberlain's estate. The hundred or so esteemed guests looked on attentively. “I'd like to thank you all for welcoming Lindsey to our family.” He looked over at her, as she was standing four feet to his right.

She smiled and blushed. Evan looked at her as she stood in her beautiful gown. It was a shimmering blue number, and her long blonde hair cascaded down over her bare shoulders.

The rock on her left hand had been Bethany's Mom's, and Evan glanced in Bethany's direction. Her mouth was tight lipped, and he could just imagine the burning rage as the sun glimmered off of the diamonds. Beth took a drink from her glass and cast a disgusted look in Evan's direction. Chuckling softly to himself he looked back up stage. Roger was continuing his speech.

“Certainly meeting Lindsey was an unforeseen and unexpected event.” He held out his hand and she slowly walked over to him. Taking his hand she looked shyly down at her feet. “Isn't she beautiful?” Roger gushed.

A few people in the crowd clapped softly. To Evan this was one of the more surreal situations that he had been involved in. The atmosphere was filled with tension, curiosity and unease. Many of the people in attendance had been friends of the family for generations, and had known either Lily or Abigail. Seeing Roger on stage with a woman that was 40 years his junior was...well, strange.

Evan continued to look at Lindsey. Her demeanor was certainly not that of a “gold-digger” or at least the ones that he had encountered. She was, quite frankly, a sweetheart. Her shyness, and soft mannerisms were of a woman unsure of herself. It would seem that she was quite overwhelmed with wha
t had transpired, and not one that had planned the scenario. Or she could be one hell of an actress.

“Well enough of my jabbering on. This is a celebration! Somebody play some music already!” Roger turned to the band and gave them a thumbs up.

As they started to play, Roger turned off the cordless mic that he had been holding. Lindsey looked up at him and Evan could see clear relief on her face. She smiled at Roger, and he leaned in and kissed her cheek. He whispered something in her ear and she nodded her head smiling. Taking a sip of his drink Evan turned and scanned the crowd.

Mostly the crowd was filled with Politicians and other wealthy business owners that Roger had been rubbing elbows with for years. As the music played the tension in the crowd seemed to dissipate. A few people started to dance, and the line to the bar grew. A cute waitress with brown hair made her way through the crowd, supplying drinks. Evan held up his near empty glass and caught her attention. She smiled and walked toward him. She had rich dark brown eyes, and a very tight body that was showcased by an equally tight skirt.

“And what are you drinking, sir?” She asked with a hint of an accent.

“Evan ... not sir. And it's a crown and ginger.” He said smiling.

“Oh...you're Mr. Even...” She said and Evan knew her accent was Latino.

“Are you from Columbia?” He guessed.

Her face brightened as she beamed. “I am! How deed you guess?”

Smiling Evan looked her up and down, unabashedly. “Because I've been down there a few times for movie shoots...” Leaning in he added, “Also because only a Colombian woman has an ass like yours.” Laughing lightly she responded. “Wait till you see it without a skirt.” Winking she turned to go get his drink, and he watched her magnificent bottom as she walked away.

“See it's not so bad.” Roger Chamberlain whispered into Lindsey's ear as they stood on stage.

Nodding she smiled. The butterflies in her stomach were continuing to flutter and she wished she were off the stage, but at least she wasn't in the center of attention anymore.

“Why don't you try and relax a little? Everything will be fine...it's just new for everyone right now.” Roger continued. “Have a drink...mingle...I have to go talk to Governor Brown for a minute about some funding. Will you be alright by yourself?” He looked at her with genuine concern.

Smiling she nodded. “Of course...I mean I did happen to survive without you before...right?” She laughed lightly and put her hand on his cheek. Looking into his eyes she gave him a brilliant smile. “I'll be fine... I'm sure your children will welcome me right into the family!”

Roger laughed heartily and started to walk away. “Maybe they should be the ones worried, yes?”

He shook his head in good humor and stepped off of the stage, walking toward the Governor. Lindsey turned and looked out over the crowd. The mood had seemed to change as the music played. Some people had started to dance, and the line to the bar was growing. I certainly could use a drink...

Walking toward the steps in front of the stage she continued to look at the crowd. To her left she saw Trevor. He was on his phone, with a finger in his ear to help him hear over the live music. His conversation seemed to be one that was urgent, as he was speaking very demonstratively. His face was red and a prominent vein began to bulge on side of his forehead. He shook his head. She could see the word “No” being repeated by him several times. He turned his back and stormed off quickly to a quieter place away from the band and crowd.

She stepped down the steps and onto the plush lawn. Walking gently forward she hoped that she wouldn't twist an ankle. She wasn't used to walking in heels, let alone on grass. Glancing down she smiled at the sight of the shoes. They were blue, to match her gown. Clearly expensive, they were surprisingly comfortable. Looking up she moved lightly around through the crowd. Smiling as she accepted her congratulations she continued to stay on the move. I really don't want to get into any conversations if I can help it.

Her eyes continued to scan the crowd, and she saw Evan off to the back. He had motioned a waitress over with his near empty glass. She was swishing over towards him, and Lindsey could tell she was adding a little extra “shake” to her walk. Why wouldn't she? He's quite handsome. And rich. Lindsey stopped and stood watching his interaction with the waitress. She saw them speaking briefly, and then he leaned in and said something that made her laugh. She turned and started to walk away, and Lindsey watched as Evan stood staring at the waitress's ass, not hiding his stare.

The waitress made her way toward the bar to get his drink, and she was smiling to herself. Well somebody is getting laid tonight. Lindsey thought to herself and was surprised to find a pang of jealousy toward the waitress. Evan looked over at her and caught her staring at him. Color rushed to Lindsey's cheeks in a burning flash, and she quickly looked down. She started to walk again, embarrassed and confused. Don't look...don't look...don't look. Despite herself she glanced back in his direction. He was still looking at her with a curious little grin on his face.

Turning her head quickly Lindsey looked straight ahead as she hurried along. Out of the corner of her eye she caught some movement. When she looked over she saw Bethany stepping directly into her path. Bethany grinned a smile that was anything but welcoming. Lindsey smiled nervously and nodded.

“Hello Beth...” She said and tried to step around her.

Bethany was taking a sip of her drink as Lindsey tried to pass.

Bethany leaned so she was within earshot and asked lowly, “Don't you think you should wait until he's in the grave before going after Evan?”

  7 CHAPTER SEVEN

Evan watched Lindsey walk in a hurry. He grinned despite himself. He felt a little pang of guilt at having the knowledge that his Dad's new wife might have a little crush on him. As Lindsey hurried along he saw Beth advancing toward her. Oh no! Don't make a scene Beth! In a flash Beth was standing in front of Lindsey. The band stopped playing for a minute, and Evan saw Beth taking a sip of her drink. Lindsey nodded and he could see her mouth move in greeting toward Beth. Lindsey stepped to the side to pass, and started to walk by Beth.

Something must have been said...Evan thought as he saw Lindsey whirl around to stare at Bethany. Lindsey's face was red, and she appeared highly upset. She took a step toward Bethany, and Evan was surprised to see Beth take a step backward.

Lindsey's head was slightly cocked and Evan could clearly see her say the words. “What did you just say to me?!”

Evan couldn't see Beth's mouth, but he knew that she would reply. Moving in from behind the two Evan could see Trevor. Good...he'll keep Beth from causing a scene. He wasn't quite fast enough however. In a flash Lindsey smacked Bethany's drink out of her hand.

The band had started to play a rocking number, so the scene wasn't heard. There were only a few folks in the vicinity, and they were preoccupied with their own conversations. Bethany had raised her hand and it looked as if she were about to smack Lindsey in the face. Evan stood transfixed at the sight. Lindsey was standing, chin held high, almost daring Bethany to strike her. Trevor arrived just in time to still Bethany's hand, and he quickly ushered her away. As Beth and Trevor were in retreat he saw Lindsey mouth the move.

It looked like she said “Keep her away from me Trevor. I mean it.”

Trevor did a double take as he moved Bethany along. Evan could see Bethany's face contorted with rage and her mouth was moving at a mile a minute. Chuckling to himself Evan thought … Girl's got some balls...gotta give her that.

Unbeknownst to Evan, Roger had stepped up beside him… Roger’s voice bled into Evan’s ears. “Bethany had better watch herself around that one...”

Evan turned to see his Father standing next to him. He had been so preoccupied with the action he hadn't noticed him come over to his side.

Roger looked at Evan and smiled. “Lindsey may be a beautiful woman, but she has had a hard life. I suspect she would beat the stuffing out of Bethany...maybe even Trevo
r.”

Laughing Roger put his arm around Evan. “I love you son.” He said.

Evan felt a little wave of embarrassment, but also pride.

The waitress brought Evan his drink and smiled brightly as she saw Roger with his arm around him. “Aww...Mester Chamberlain...that is so adorable.”

Evan chuckled and winked at her. Thanks dad...you just sealed that deal for me. He thought as she walked away, backside swishing. She looked back and smiled as she caught Evan watching her walk away.

Her name was Carmen. She was a waitress for the catering company. Evan slowly undressed her, revealing a toned tan body. She smelled of fresh flowers and cinnamon. Stroking his chest they kissed deeply. Evan had built his own house on the land he had bought that neighbored his father's estate. Neighboring was a relative term, as the Chamberlain's Estate was some 40 acres. Now as he unfastened Carmen's bra, in his massive master bedroom, he smiled.
