Revenge

He gave her a teasing lick. “Like this?”
Her breathy moan was all the response he needed.
He settled in, licking and sucking at her like she was the ripest of all fruit. Sweet and tangy and so uniquely Shelby. He delved deep, his tongue spearing up.
Over and over he licked and sucked and made sure not to miss a single inch of her precious flesh. He laved her with affection, with devotion. Her hands came up, stroking through his hair as she pressed her pelvis against him. She whispered his name like it was some kind of prayer.
He parted her labia and ran his tongue over her again, licking up to her clitoris. He pressed one finger up inside her. No matter how many times he fucked her, she was always so tight. So perfect.
He pressed a second finger in and then sucked her clit between his lips.
No thin privacy wall was going to stop the driver from hearing the way she screamed out.
He pressed her down as her body bucked.
Finally she relaxed, shuddering as he lapped up her arousal. It was his. It belonged to him the way she did. Every orgasm was his.
He kissed her clit one last time and pushed himself up and off her, his hands going to his belt. His dick was hard and throbbing. So ready for her.
She shook her head. “Not on your life.”
He’d never known that four little words could devastate.
Deep breath. He hadn’t expected that. He forced himself to sit back. Act like it was no big deal. Why didn’t she want him?
“You are so lucky I keep an extra set of undies in my desk,” she said, her tone breathless as she pushed her skirt down and sat up.
“I suppose you’re always prepared.” He wasn’t going to look at her. He stared out the window. The limo was stuck in traffic. Excellent. Now he had half an hour where his brain was going to go over and over what he’d done wrong.
“I have to be. I’m working in this building where the boss is a total horny hottie and he seems to like me a lot.” She sounded as though nothing had gone wrong at all. Just another day.
“I suppose so.”
She switched to the bench opposite him. “You know you’re the touchiest man in the world. Everyone thinks your ego is the size of Jupiter, but I know differently. One of these days, you’re going to trust me, Lawless. You told me what you wanted. I want it, too.”
She sank down to her knees, her hands on his thighs.
His dick was right back at full mast. “I thought you were done.”
Her pretty green eyes rolled. “I know. Like I said, one of these days, you’re going to trust me. Until then, I will put up with your touchy ego.”
She ran her hands up his thighs and to the buckle on his belt.
He only had a touchy ego when it came to her. He didn’t give a flying fuck about anyone else. If one of his previous lovers had told him to stop, he would have rolled off her and gone back to work. No harm. No foul. Not everyone was always in the mood. He wasn’t the guy who demanded repayment.
But the idea of Shelby not wanting him was devastating.
“It’s only for you,” he said quietly.
The smile that crossed her face lit up his whole fucking world. “I know. That’s why I put up with it. Well, maybe there are some other reasons. Like one I can think of.”
She eased his zipper down and smoothed back the sides of his slacks. Her hand skimmed over his cock and he felt himself jump at the touch. Her pink-tipped fingernails slipped under the waistband of his boxers, drawing them down and freeing his dick.
He had to take a deep breath because that felt so damn good. She took him in hand, stroking him gently.
“You know you’re beautiful, Drew.” Her eyes were on his cock as she stroked her thumb over the head.
From anyone else, he would roll his eyes and look for what the person wanted from him. From Shelby, the words made him blush. “I’m glad you think so, though I do think we should get your eyesight checked.”
“Nope. You’re very pretty,” she insisted. “You’re also extremely good with your tongue. I’ll have to learn from you. I love the way you eat me up. I want to make sure you feel the same. I want you to love the way I suck your cock.”
He couldn’t imagine doing anything else. He loved the way she ate toast. It was stupid but he noticed everything about her. He let his hands slip into her hair, twisting it lightly. Yeah, he knew she liked that, too. Shelby enjoyed when he took control in certain situations. “Lick me.”
She let him guide her down, her tongue darting out and running lightly over the head of his cock. He bit back a hiss of pure pleasure as she flattened her tongue and found the V at the back of his cock head. She rubbed the sensitive flesh, teasing it until he was sure his eyes would cross.
“Take more.” He watched her, watched as her lips opened and his cock began to disappear.
Her tongue whirled, the sensation sparking through him like lightning.
“More.”
She took him slowly, inch by inch. Her tongue worked him over, rolling around and around the stalk of his cock. All the way down and then back up to the head only to start all over again.
He leaned back, watching her as she worked him over. The woman needed no coaching. She was a natural when it came to pleasing a man, and he had zero problems with that. He was happy that every other man she’d cared about had been a fucking idiot to let her go. This woman was magnificent, and he didn’t want to be one more in a line of men who let her down. He wanted to be the one she could count on.
He wanted to be so selfish about her.
He tilted his hips up as she worked her way down again. Every inch of his cock was in her mouth, and her hand reached down and cupped his balls.
“Damn, but that’s perfect. Your mouth is perfect. Fuck, baby, you’re perfect for me.”
She sucked her way up his cock and then her face turned toward him with a smile. “I think so. We work well together, Lawless. So the next time I tell you to get off me, don’t think I’m rejecting you. Think I’m doing something superhot because I’m your girl and that’s what I do.”
His girl. His. “I’ll try, but I’m not great at this. You need to know that I’ve been thrown for a loop and it’s all you. You, Shelby. You’re unlike anyone I’ve ever known and I’m all in. Do you want to know what I’m thinking right now?”
“You’re scheming.”
“I am. I’m trying to figure out how to keep you close to me even when I screw up and do things you won’t like.” Even when you find out I’m lying to you.
He would change the rest of his world if it meant he could keep her. He simply couldn’t barter the next generation, because that might include their own kids. He couldn’t lead another generation into a scandal that wouldn’t stop. He couldn’t.
She sucked him hard, going from head to base and back again. Her hand cupped his balls, rolling them in a way that made him gasp for breath. His hands clenched around her hair, holding her hard against him. Deep breath. Don’t come. Not yet.
She ran her tongue over him, and then her head came up. Her head moved down, her hands cupping his balls.
He couldn’t hold back when she rolled him up and her throat worked down around him. His cock hit something so fucking soft, and he couldn’t hold back a second longer.
“I’m going to come.” His fingers tightened in her hair.
She didn’t fight him at all. Her hands clamped down and she moved her head, sucking roughly. He let go and let her take over. Her lips moved down his cock, owning him and everything he had to give to her. He watched as she sucked him. Her hands rolled him, tugging hard on his balls because those belonged to her, too. Everything he was belonged to her.
His hands dug into the leather of the seats, and he called out her name as he came.
He pressed up as she took everything he had to give her. He
pressed up hard against her mouth and yet she still sucked him. His hands held her head lightly, allowing her to move away. She didn’t. Her throat worked hard, taking every ounce as she pressed against him.
His whole body relaxed, pure pleasure making its way through his veins. He leaned back, every muscle softening. It was more than his body. His whole fucking soul relaxed as she looked up at him, a smile on her face. Like she’d accomplished something amazing.
“I’m crazy about you, Shelby.” She shouldn’t think anything less. She was the single most amazing person he’d ever met.
She wiped her hands across her perfectly plump lips. “Back at you, Lawless. And you taste like fucking sunshine. Did you know that?”
God, he was in love with her.
The traffic moved on slowly, but he was pretty damn sure he never would.
Chapter Eleven
The limo stopped in front of the 4L building but she hesitated. For several reasons. Mostly because her panties were stuffed into her purse since they weren’t wearable at this point.
God, Drew was going to kill her. She’d never had a man who could make her do the things he did. She’d thrown off all norms, all societal niceties. They didn’t matter because Drew Lawless was such a brooding hottie that her panties melted off and her body spread wide the minute she knew he needed her.
Yep, her feminist friends were going to disavow her. They would put her name on a list of women who succumbed to the needs of their female parts.
He knew how to make her female parts sing.
The door opened and Drew winked her way. He slid out of the limo and immediately turned and held out a hand.
There was her gentlemanly lover.
“Does this mean you’re feeling better?” She scooted out of the limo. She needed to wear pants more often. It was infinitely easier to get in and out of limos in pants. Of course, Drew would simply get them off her, and then she would find out how hard it was to get dressed in a limo.
He pulled her close. When they began their relationship, she’d worried he would be a bit cold in public, protecting his image above all. Not Drew. He didn’t care who saw them. The building was 4L’s campus, and pretty much everyone walking around was one of his employees or clients. It didn’t seem to matter to Drew. He leaned over and kissed her. “Infinitely better.”
She was the one who blushed.
She let her hands drift to his waist. “I’m glad. And I’m so sorry you had to hear that, but I was happy you were with me.”
That was the key to Drew. He would take almost anything if he thought he was helping. Taking responsibility was the core of Drew’s personality. She’d been wrong to try to leave him out this morning. He needed to be needed.
One day she would be able to tell this man how much she cared about him and he would believe her. All it required was time and a little patience.
“No more Russian mobsters,” he said, leaning over to kiss her again. This time he laid a sweet peck on her nose. His tenderness fed her soul. She loved how passionately he made love to her, but she craved his softness. He gave it to no one but his family.
“No promises, but I do swear I’ll tell you the next time I make an appointment that could be considered dangerous.” She slid her hand into his.
He nodded toward Bennett, who had a knowing smile on his face. “See you at five thirty. We’ll need to go home before we go to the restaurant. Are you picking up my brother and his wife?”
“Yes, sir. I’ll make sure to refresh the car before heading to the airport.”
“Thank you.” He tangled his fingers with hers and started toward the front doors.
Refresh? She felt herself go a wild pink. “Oh, God, he thinks he needs to clean the limo because we had sex in it. He knows we had sex in the back.”
“Baby, most of Austin knows it. You’re enthusiastic and Bennett is an intelligent man.”
Pure embarrassment flooded through her. “I didn’t even think about that.”
He held the door open for her. “Why would you need to? It doesn’t matter what anyone else thought. It’s not like we’re living in the Victorian age. Hey, Michaelson? I just had sex in the back of a limo. Do you think less of me?”
A young man with headphones around his neck smiled Drew’s way. “Nope. Makes me want to be you, boss.”
She lightly slapped his arm. “Andrew Lawless, you need a serious lesson in tact.”
She shook her head as the doors opened.
Case Taggart was standing there. His eyes flared as he caught sight of them. “Thank God. I’ve been trying to get hold of you for the last half hour.”
“I was busy and I turned off my phone,” Drew replied.
“We had a meeting that couldn’t be interrupted,” she said quickly before Drew could explain that there was no way he was answering his phone while getting a blow job.
“There’s been an accident. Noah was hurt. We have to get to the hospital.” Case started walking toward the parking lot. “I’ve got a car here. Everyone else is already at the hospital.”
“What happened?” Shelby asked, hurrying to keep up with the taller men.
“Noah and Bran were walking across the street to get some lunch, and out of nowhere some SUV hit Noah.”
A chill went through her. “A black SUV?”
Case’s jaw was tight as he nodded. “Yes. I’ve been going over the footage from the security cameras in the area. I’ve got a partial plate. It’s a rental. I’ll call around and see what I can figure out after I drop you two off at the hospital.”
“How bad is it?” Drew asked, his tone perfectly even.
She knew that when he seemed unemotional, it was all an act.
“He hit his head on the concrete. He wasn’t conscious by the time the ambulance came. I haven’t gotten an update. Bran went with him to the hospital.”
Drew pulled his phone out, staring down at it while he walked. “Damn it, Case. I’m sorry. Is Bran all right?”
“He’s shaken up, but he didn’t get hit,” Case explained. “From what some of the witnesses said, it was like the SUV was trying to hit Noah.”
They walked into the parking garage, going from sunlight to gloom in a second.
Case nodded to where he’d parked the Audi that Mia used when she was in Austin. There was a clicking sound as he opened the locks. “I’ve already talked to the police. They’re treating it like a hit-and-run. They think the driver was probably distracted and then panicked and fled the scene. I’m not so sure.”
Drew opened the back passenger side door, ushering Shelby inside before he slid into the seat next to Case. He was silent for a moment as Case backed the car up and started out.
“It’s not Hatch.”
Shelby leaned forward, touching his shoulder. She understood why he couldn’t think about this being Hatch, but there were reasons Hatch might want to get rid of Noah. She also had to consider that this was Iris or someone she’d hired. Not that she could say anything about that in front of Case. “We’ll find him.”
“It’s not Hatch,” Drew replied, a chill in his tone. “He wouldn’t do that. He’s got no reason to do it.”
Case looked back at her, his face grim.
Shelby let her body rest against the seat, hooking the belt. She hoped the hospital had good Wi-Fi because she had a few leads to follow. She had to unravel the mystery before someone died.

Two hours later, she stared down at her computer. She’d narrowed down the list of private investigators who might have hired Yuri to two. Luckily one of them was still in business. Williams Investigations was run by a forty-year-old man named Kevin Williams, but she’d found records that it had once been run by the man’s father, a Maurice Williams who had died a few years back after a long illness. His son had taken over and contracted his services to several large com
panies in the DFW area.
According to his social media, he also spent a good deal of time in Russia. There were pictures of him with his St. Petersburg–born bride and their children smiling and waving from various landmarks.
Yeah, she liked that connection.
The question was whether his father had done any work for the original company. She needed a way to tie Williams Investigations to Benedict Lawless’s company.
Drew sat down beside her, a disposable cup in his hand. “Any luck?”
She kept her voice down because they weren’t alone in the waiting room. “A bit. I’ll forward you anything I find. How about on your end?”
His jawline tightened. “No. Not yet.”
He was still looking for Hatch, but it appeared he didn’t want to be found.
Or he’d rented a black SUV and was trying to take care of a problem.
The thing she couldn’t quite wrap her head around was why Noah would be a problem at all. If Hatch was truly worried that Noah would hurt Drew, shouldn’t he have stayed behind and watched over him like he’d said he would? Why pursue it in this fashion?
Unless he was trying desperately to hide something.
Bran walked into the waiting room, his eyes tired. Carly jumped up and practically ran to her husband. Mia and Case were holding hands as they approached.
Drew stood but didn’t reach for her. “What’s the news?”
“He’s got a concussion, but they’re positive he’s going to be okay,” Bran explained. “He doesn’t remember a thing after we walked out of the building. He remembers us talking about tacos and then he woke up here.”
“Is that normal?” Carly asked.
“According to the doctors it is,” Bran replied. “They’re going to keep him overnight, but they think he’ll be fine to go home in the morning. I didn’t even see it coming.”
Case put an arm around his wife. “I think we can safely say this is the second attempt on Noah’s life. It was a black SUV then, too, wasn’t it?”
Mia nodded. “Yes, and we were all too worried about Shelby and Noah at the mall to get a plate number.”
