“Just asking. Wondering if I was the only one who felt that way.”

  “No, you’re not.”

“Can I use your bathroom?” He caught me off guard by asking.

“Over there by the coat closet,” I said, gesturing toward my guest bathroom.

When he was gone, I thought about what he had asked me. I wondered what relationship he’d been in before me that had made him feel miserable? Maybe he was like me. Maybe his past relationships were so painful they made him afraid to take it to the next step with me. That made sense now. At least, I knew now that he wasn’t making any moves because he wasn’t really attracted to me, but because he had been in bad relationships before. Just like me.

I sighed and brought my legs up from under me. I stretched my feet out on the coffee table in front of me and downed the rest of my champagne.

“You had some boxes stashed in there. Are you packing?” Jonathan had come out of the bathroom.

“Yeah, I’ll be moving within the next two months or so. The boxes were getting a little cluttered so the only place I could think of to put them was stacked up in the guest bathroom. Hope they didn’t get in your way.”

He was standing over me and looking at my legs and my feet.

“See something you like?” I teased.

“As a matter of fact, I do.” He knelt down on the area rug in front of me and ran his soft hands over my legs. “Can I?”

I didn’t say anything and he continued, beginning to massage my calves and ankles. His hands felt so good. “I’m going to have to hire you as my personal masseuse,” I whispered, closing my eyes.

“I specialize in tantra massages, you know.” He was gently kneading my knees and the back of my legs. “Your skin is so soft. You feel freshly shaved.”

“I wax. I barely ever shave.”

“Oh, not just your legs, though, right?”

“Right, everywhere, except the hair on my head.”

“I noticed that the other night. That is sooo hot!”

His hands moved closer to my thighs. He lifted one of my legs and moved so that he knelt before me. He maneuvered my legs so that one of my calves rested on his shoulder, and the other was in his hands. I opened my eyes in time to catch him examining my foot. I didn’t protest when he began to lick the toes. I watched, intently, as he took his time on each foot, licking and sucking everywhere. At least five minutes had passed before he brought his attention back to my face. I looked down and saw the erection in the front of his pants. He locked his gaze with mine and moved both of my feet to the front of his pants, using them to massage him through his trousers. He closed his eyes and moaned out load. He was extremely hard. I took charge and began moving my feet slowly over the bulge in his pants and watched as he became even more aroused by it.

  “Unzip your pants,” I demanded.

He quickly unbuckled his belt, unzipped his pants, and out popped his erection.

I used both feet to hold him steady and moved my feet up and down his shaft.

  “Oh, my God,” he groaned.

This was the first time that I had ever stroked a man’s dick with something other than my fingers or tongue. Most men preferred my mouth or my pussy. Jonathan, on the other hand, was extremely turned on by my feet jacking him off.

“You like that, don’t you?” I asked.

  “Don’t stop.”

  “You want to come?”

“I’m going to come all over your beautiful toes.”

He came hard and long across my feet.

“Damn...” I said as he regained his composure.

He stood up. “Stay right there. Don’t move. Do you have a towel?”

“There’s one in the guest bathroom.”

He ran over to the guest bathroom, stuffing himself back in his pants, then came back and wiped the semen off my feet with the towel. After all traces were gone, he pulled me forward and kissed me passionately. His hands were massaging the insides of my thighs and I could hear myself moaning softly. He gently pulled down my dress and bra so that my breasts were exposed. I leaned back against the couch as he moved forward and sucked my nipples. His wet tongue licked every part of my breast, causing the bud to tighten and harden with every lick. I wanted him to fuck me, I needed to come. He reached down and lifted my dress so that the hem was bunched up around my waist. He used his teeth to pull my champagne-colored thong panties down my legs and over my feet. He placed the panties on the couch beside me. I needed to come so bad, it felt like my clit was in pain. He pulled my pelvis towards him so that my ass was seated at the very edge of the couch and then gently used his hands to spread my thighs apart.

  “Jonathan, I need you…”

His index finger taunted my clit, moving the little bud back and forth ever so lightly. Finally, he inserted two fingers into my pussy and stroked back and forth while watching me the whole time.

“Does your pussy taste like apples, too?” he whispered. “I bet it does…” He took the fingers out of me and sucked the juice off them slowly.

  “Please…” I begged.

“Do you want me to make you come with my tongue or fingers?” He inserted two fingers back into my hole and pushed in and pulled out slowly.

  “Both…”

“You sure you can handle both?” He taunted me, grinning. He looked at me as I squirmed under his fingers.

  “Yes.”

He took his fingers from my pussy and squeezed my clit between the same two fingers.

  “You sure…”

  I moaned.

He slid his fingers down lower, teasing every sensitive region. He dipped his tongue in and out of my sex, slowly. He replaced his tongue with two fingers and brought his lips up to my clit and sucked, moving his head from side to side.

My whole body convulsed under his tongue. He licked up every single drop then took my already sensitive clit in his mouth again and licked it feverishly, bringing me to another orgasm.

  I called out his name.

He pulled a third climax out of me, leaving me spent and restless.

He stood up and sat on the couch next to me. “Multi-orgasmic, aren’t you?”

“With a tongue like that, yes,” I said.

“Karlina, you said Sean when I was down on you,” Jonathan said out of the blue.

“Ugh.” I hand went to my mouth. “I guess that’s what happens when you don’t take a break. I’m really sorry.”

“I understand. I’m just happy to make you feel better.”

  “Excuse me for a minute.”

I grabbed my clothes and escaped into my bedroom. I ran the cold water and splashed some against my face and neck. I still felt sick to my stomach, so I jumped in the shower. I fully expected Jonathan to be gone when I got out, but he was still there on the couch, waiting and flipping through some magazines.

“I thought you weren’t coming out of there for a moment,” he said.

“Sorry, I wanted to take a quick shower.”

“That’s okay. Can I pour you some champagne?” He lifted up a chilled bottle.

“You know what? I don’t feel so good, so can we call it a night?”

He rose from the chair. “All right.”

Another week went by, and I passed the time with work and having fun with Jonathan. I had just rolled up into the lot of the gym to pick him up for our dinner date. I pulled up to the door and sent a text that I was waiting outside.

In less than five minutes, he came out of the building and jumped into the passenger seat.

“Hi. How was work?” I asked.

“I was hardly working.” He smiled. “I got something for you.” He handed me a long, black velvet box with a red bow planted on top.

  “Thank you,” I grinned.

Jonathan’s gifts of choice always seemed to be jewelry. I wanted to tell him that he didn’t need to shower me with gifts, but I didn’t want to hurt his feelings. Besides, I couldn’t help but feel special every time he bought me som
ething. I opened the box and pulled out a diamond-encrusted tennis bracelet.

“Pretty,” I said, holding the bracelet on my wrist, admiring the way it sparkled in the sunlight.

“Let me help you,” he said, reaching out to fasten the bracelet on my wrist. “This matches the diamond earrings that I gave you. So, we have the earrings, the necklace, the bracelet…”

“I really love them all. I just…you know I don’t expect you to—”

“Don’t say what I think you’re going to say. Besides, I like to see you happy.”

I leaned over and kissed him.

When we pulled back from each other, he said, “I just ordered a dinner basket to go from an Italian restaurant and thought we could go to a concert at the park.”

“That sounds good. We can watch the sun go down.”

When we arrived at the venue, the concert was already started and people were already sitting out on lawn chairs and lawn blankets. We found a secluded spot under the tree and spread out a blanket, as well. As we were eating our pasta dinner and listening to the light jazz, we made small talk.

He lay back on the blanket and pulled his arms behind him so that his head was rested in the center. I lay back on my side and placed my head on his chest.

  “Karlina?” he whispered.

  “Uh-huh?”

“When I started dating you, I never imagined that we would get this close.”

“I feel the same way, Jonathan.”

“And you started dating me when you were already involved with someone, and I thought back then that I would never have you to myself and that you would always have your boyfriend.”

“Jonathan, it wouldn’t have worked that way. I broke up with my boyfriend before I started dating you. I’m not like that.”

  “You did?”

“Yes, I did.” Did he not remember that I had broken it off with Sean the night I saw him at the club?

“Well, when I met you, you were still involved with him and I was hooked then. When you broke up with him, I was still hooked, only I knew I wouldn’t have to share you.”

“Right…” I didn’t know where this conversation was going. Did Jonathan really think that I would have started dating him if Sean and I had still been an item? Would he even have wanted to date me if that were the case? After all, he had been suggesting that he didn’t care about me being with Sean the moment I’d met him.

“Now, I’m so into you, that I can’t imagine not seeing you, not being with you.”

“Stop fretting, Jonathan,” I whispered, moving my hands along his chest.

He freed one of his hands and lifted my chin up to his face and pulled me in for a kiss. Jonathan was already talking as if he were going to lose me, making me just as uneasy as he apparently felt.

“That was a nice condo, Karlina. Do you think that’s the one you want? Or are you going to keep looking?” It was Tuesday evening, and we had just left an open house event for a condominium. It was getting late and dusk had just turned into dark. There was no way that I would be able to look at another condo this late.

“Actually, it was a little too small for me. It had all the upgrades that I’m used to, but the kitchen area was way too cozy for the price they’re asking.”

“Oh, well, something else should come up. If all else fails, you can look in a different area of the city. Maybe even outside of it, somewhere in the metro area.”

“What? You don’t want me to live so close to you?”

“No, that’s not it. You know better than that.”

  “I’m just playing.”

“This BMW drives pretty well. Maybe I need to trade my Mustang in for one of these.” Jonathan was driving my car. He’d agreed to it so that I could look at the listings and for sale signs posted in the neighborhoods and make notes without being distracted by driving.

“I’ve had my baby for about two and a half years now. She’s done pretty well so far. No major repairs or anything like that.”

“It’s a good car,” he nodded and then he glanced over at me. “I wanted to hang out with you for a while tonight after we get to your place. I think we need to talk about something.”

  “Talk about what?”

  “Just about you and me.”

“Well, now that you have my attention, you plan on keeping me waiting like that?”

“Let’s just get comfortable at your house first and then we can talk. You won’t be disappointed, I promise. You hungry?”

“Not really. I could use some coffee, though.”

“You like Starbucks? There’s one about two exits up.”

  “That sounds good.”

Jonathan reached out and turned the radio on. I turned the volume up and began to sing, rocking my hips to the music.

We were both having so much fun that we weren’t paying much attention to anything else but singing and dancing with not a care in the world. When I opened my eyes, a set of headlights were blinding me. I narrowed my eyes to try and see where the lights were coming from.

Wait a minute! Those lights were coming directly towards us. I turned to Jonathan and he was busy looking at me with one hand on the steering wheel. I pointed in front of me and he turned his attention back to the interstate.

  “What the fuck?!”

  “Jonathan!”

I could feel the car jerk me forward, and then backward and heard tires screeching loudly. The lights were coming closer and closer. My whole body jerked forward again. There was a thud, a crash. A loud ringing in my ears.

  And then there was nothing.

“Karlina…Karlina Nguyen? Can you hear me?”

The pain in my head was unbearable. Someone was calling my name. I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to shut out the pain and ringing in my head.

“Ms. Nguyen. Ms. Nguyen. If you can hear us, open your eyes. Can you hear us?”

Someone was rubbing my forehead. They were standing over me, I could feel their presence but my body was in too much pain.

“Give me an ice bag.” It was a lady’s voice.

The warm hand was replaced by a cold object.

Finally, I opened my eyes to an older lady standing over me. When my eyes were completely opened, the woman smiled. “Karlina, I’m Dr. Lamar, how are you feeling?”

“Wh—where am I?” I felt like I was lying on a hard cot. I felt so uncomfortable, so out of place.

“Don’t move your head around so much. You’re in the hospital. You’re going to be okay.” Dr. Lamar was whispering to me softly. Her voice felt so soothing, but my gut instincts told me that something was terribly wrong.

“Hospital,” I mumbled. The hospital? What was I doing here? Something inside of me clicked and everything came rushing back. Suddenly, all the noise rang in my ears. The blaring music, the really bright headlights, the blackout, the sirens, the voices…

I squeezed my eyes shut again to drown out the noise and images in my head.

I gasped and tried to sit up, but Dr. Lamar held me down firmly.

“Karlina, you were involved in a terrible accident.”

  “Accident?” I mumbled.

“Right now, what you’re experiencing is a mild concussion. The pain should go away with time and you will be fine. We’ve given you some pain medication, and that’s why you feel a little drowsy like you want to go to sleep. It’s crucial that you rest. You’re very lucky, Ms. Nguyen, we thought you suffered a broken leg, but we discovered it was just a strain in one of your ligaments.”

“Broken leg…my leg is broken?” I shook my head from side to side.

“No…no. Only a leg sprain. But, you will still be required to stay off of your feet for a while. You were trapped between the dashboard and seat, which is probably where the leg injury came from.”

  “Jonathan?”

“Jonathan’s room is down the hall from yours. He will be fine, as well. However, his injuries were more extensive than yours. He will be required to use
a wheelchair and walk on crutches until his leg is fully healed.”

“What happened? We were driving and…” The pain in my head was coming back.

“A drunk driver entered onto the interstate and began driving in the wrong direction. You and your driver and the driver of the other vehicle were airlifted here. A passenger in the other car did not make it.”

“Oh, my God…” The pain was unbearable.

“Karlina, you need to stay off your feet. We can’t get in touch with your next of kin. Your parents are listed, but they haven’t answered. We need you to give us the contact information for someone so that we can notify them of your status.”

“They’re out of the country…my parent’s are on vacation…everyone…no one is here…Tasha is visiting her parents this week,” I mumbled.

  I couldn’t think straight.

“That’s okay. Maybe a neighbor or even your boss at work. Give me their name and number so that we can let them know that you’re all right.”

  “Sandra, from work…555…0289,” I said.

As one of the nurses checked my vitals and the connecting machines, the doctor said, “We’ll be back in from time to time to check on you. In the meantime, try not to put any unnecessary strain on your leg.”

When the doctor was gone, I lifted my head as best I could to look down at my legs. The left leg was propped up slightly. My eyes moved up and I saw that I was wearing one of those hideous hospital gowns. I lifted my arm and read the hospital bracelet. I couldn’t believe that I was in the hospital. I could have died in that car accident. We could have died that night. I was glad that Jonathan and I were okay. Even though I was immobilized in a hospital bed, the doctor sounded like I would recover fine. I began to doze off again. I was so tired.

When I opened my eyes again, I was greeted by two faces standing over me. This time, they were familiar faces. Both were Tasha’s friends. One of them was Eva, the girl who had driven me to Sean’s after the Girl’s Night Out.

“Oh, she’s awake. Karlina, we thought you would never wake up,” Eva exclaimed, bending down to kiss me on my forehead.
