Hot Alpha Alien Husbands: Book One: Daxx and Jetta Page 9

by Scarlett Starkleigh

“A non-relationship? Why are you ending things with her?”

“For you,” he said, looking at me with an expression filled with a kind of warmth that just hit me in my chest like a squeezing painful thing, “And for me.”

“You can’t be serious. Look at her.”

“Look at you.” He lifted the other small calculator sized device from his belt, hit a button while holding it up in front of me and then showed me my image from a photo shoot that they’d done on the first day of our ‘workshop’. More weird hieroglyphics were in a few straight lines below.

  “What does it say?”

“Can I get rid of her and then I’ll tell you?” he asked.

“Are you sure you want to get rid of her?”

  “I am.”

I shook my head, “I won’t make you any promises and you’re gonna give up a sure thing? It doesn’t make any sense, Daxx. And she’s going to be hurt.”

He leaned forward and kissed my lips quickly, “She won’t be hurt.”

“Huh? Of course she will; look at you.” My lips tingled.

He smiled a little but then it melted into something that looked wary, “You don’t know a thing about me other than that I want you. You base assuming she’ll be hurt by ending a non-relationship with me because of my appearance?”

“So far I’ve seen that you’re protective and sweet and caring. You’re big and strong and handsome. You kick ass in a fight. And even if I don’t love violence, it was seriously hot to watch the way you took three guys out. For me. Which I don’t get but anyways… You have the nicest eyes I think I’ve ever seen and the way you look at me with them? It is seriously hot. And sweet. You smell amazing. Oh, and you are a good kisser who knows his wine. And you’ve got a great smile. So, that’s enough for me to give you a second look. More than a second look. If she’s engaged to you, she has to know all sorts about you that I don’t even know yet. Things that could mean she loves you and will be heartbroken that this is ending. And if she doesn’t know them then maybe she has hope that she will get to know them. She thinks she’s going to fall asleep next to you every night and be lucky enough to wake up beside you every single morning and it’s probably gonna hurt like a bitch to find out that’s not true. Do you have M&M’s here? After a breakup with you, she’ll need to eat her weight in M&M’s.”

He looked at me with an astounded expression, “She knows nothing about me other than what I look like and the way I can provide for her and doesn’t care to know anything else.” He shook his head, “Treya’s cold. She’s a cold and emotionless shell of a woman who cares about nothing unless it directly affects her. If she knew half of the things about me after three months where we’ve spent time together for many hours at events as well as alone that you know after an hour and they meant anything at all to her, I probably wouldn’t have been wandering this evening, trying but failing not to be thinking about you. I wouldn’t have been watching you through the live and private feeds this last month. I’d have her at home, my own home, with me, beside me, my arms around her. And my cock would have been inside of every single one of her holes repeatedly and yet it has no desire to even touch her.”

I tried to hide my reaction but failed. Man, he was blunt.

I tilted my head and examined his face. Wow. He looked serious.

  “Is she that bad?”

  “She’s not you.”

“I don’t know what that means,” I laughed self-consciously and had another sip. My second glass was almost empty but it felt as if I’d drank four or five glasses. I had a serious glow going on.

“It means that despite not having been with a woman for over four years, after three months I still haven’t bedded Treya because she isn’t what I want. I want you. It’s your face I see when my cock is in my fist, your body. I wanted you before I even met you and the second I laid eyes on you in the flesh, I knew I’d settle for nothing but you.”

I gawked, “Um, we were talking about this being casual. That don’t sound so casual to me.”

“How about if I get rid of her and then I come up here and show you how much I want inside you, how much I want to make your body sing for me, and take my time, as best as I can, doing just that?”

  I gawked some more.

“Afterwards, we’ll talk about whether or not this is going to be casual,” he added.

I fought my natural urges to jump his bones and laughed, “Breakups can take time. And I’m feeling a little bit sloshed after a glass and a half of your fabulous wine, so chances are that by the time you get back, I’ll be passed out.” I downed what was left in my glass, pushing away the words he’d said because wow; was this guy a professional sweet-talker or what? Sexy, dirty, and sweet all at once.

  “I’ll wake you.”

“Once I’m out, it’s like trying to wake the dead,” I warned, “And if I’m getting my super flu vaccination, I’d like to participate. Gotta tell ya, I’m looking forward to seeing the needle on a big guy like you, you know what I’m sayin’?” I laughed at my own joke. And then I chastised myself for being a loose-lipped floozy.

He quirked up his seriously sexy lips like I was amusing but contradictorily furrowed his brows, “No, I don’t really know what you’re saying.”

“Do you deliver vaccinations here with a needle? A poky syringe thing?”

“No. We use an inoculation tool that’s blunt. It doesn’t need to pierce the skin to deliver the medicine. That’s a very outdated practice.”

His phone, lying beside him on the bed, was ringing again, and the woman looked irate on the screen. She was still holding one of my shoes, examining it with unconcealed disgust. Uh yikes…

He hit a button and their conversation played on hands-free for both of us to hear.

“Is it too late? Has he already married her?” the woman screeched at Daxx’s father.

Daxx hit a button and her lips kept moving but the sound was muted but symbols scrolled across the screen.

“If you don’t use a needle here, my joke will be lost on you. Forget it.”

“I’d really like you to explain it to me, little beauty, as well as tell me about these em-ems,” He leaned over and tucked my hair behind my ear with his finger tips, eliciting a shiver from me.

  He smiled, noticing that shiver.

I chewed my lower lip for a second. His eyes dropped to my mouth.

“I’d better go deal with that. Are you hungry?” He tore his eyes away and hit a few buttons on the phone device.

“Nope, but if you’re gone a long time I might get hungry.”

  “I won’t be long.”

“You might be. Breakups can be ugly. M&M’s are chocolate candies that can help soothe that sting. Temporarily. Even more so if you mix them with ice cream.”

“I’ll have some food prepared. And I’ll try not to be too long. Come.” He took my hand in his and led me to that food and beverage station. His hand was large, warm and it made my pulse quicken.

He hit a few buttons, “Pizza?”

I smiled, “Space pizza? Sounds intriguing.”

He brought up a screen with photos of toppings and I said yes to each of the toppings he offered.

“You guys have pepperoni here?” I was shocked.

“Evidently. Some of your technology comes from Phallyx. We’ve adapted some of your customs as well as customs from other planets we are friendly with. I don’t know about pepperoni, per se; I’ve never had it, but many people enjoy Earth foods. My father stocked things well with a variety of Earth ingredients for these events, based on information supplied by your planet about what you all like.”

“Ah. The food questionnaires we filled out. So, you’ve never had pizza? You are in for a treat! Will you have some?”

  “I’ll try anything once.”

“Cool. Do you guys have cosmetics, you know, make-up?” Treya looked good so I was thinking that was a yes.

  “Cosmetics? Of course, yes.”

  “Thank god. Malls?

  “Malls?”

“Shopping malls? Buildings with many stores in one location?”

“Ah. Yes. They aren’t as abundant as they once were, since they were more of a commodity for females but we do still have merchant squares, marketplaces. I’m sure there will be more once the population begins to rise.”

  I clapped my hands.

  He smiled.

“I like shopping,” I informed him.

His expression dropped just a little bit.

  “What?” I asked.

He shook his head, “How much do you like to shop?”

I shrugged, “Occasionally. It depends on my budget. I don’t like to overspend but if I’m saving up for something like a new top or a pair of shoes I’ve had my eye on for a long time I get very determined. I’m not at the mall every day or anything.” I sipped from my wineglass but it was empty. Oh yeah. Dang. I looked back to the screen.

“So, you’d be satisfied with a weekly trip?” he asked.

“Naw, not that often. Even once a month. I’m not a high maintenance girl. How do I finish this up? Suddenly, after all this space pizza talk, I’m famished.”

I looked back to his face when he didn’t respond right away and he was looking at me with what looked a bit like a kind of lovesick puppy dog look.

  “What?” I blushed.

He sobered, “I need to get rid of her. I’ll be as fast as possible.”

I put my hand on his forearm. The power I could feel just on that small amount of him made my belly flutter.

“Two things real quick?” I requested with a squeeze.

“Almost anything,” he replied with sincerity that that seemed so genuine, it shocked me.

“One: are you sure about this? I can’t make you any promises beyond a hook up tonight. I need to have sex so I don’t die and you have been super nice to me and you’re insanely hot so I’m game for helping you break that dry spell but I don’t want you to give up your chance at marriage for this. I don’t know that this can be what you might want it to be. And that said, if you’re not breaking up I’m not having sex with you. I won’t sleep with another woman’s man. Ever.”

“What do you think I want this to be, Jetta?”

“Marriage, a family? That’s what we’re told we’re here for. You are ready to drop your fiancé an hour after meeting me so that makes me think you’re doing it for just the reasons those Clipboard Assholes said you wanted us here for. To marry and have babies with us.”

“I can wait a little while for babies,” he smiled, but he was looking at me like he couldn’t effing wait to put a baby in me.

“Or maybe you just wanna bag an Earth girl out of curiosity?”

He laughed, “I won’t deny I’m curious about you.”

My eyes traveled up and down the length of him, all seven magnificent feet of him, and then I smiled. I was curious about him, too.

“So, you can seriously turn off your swimmers until you’re ready?”

He looked at me a split second and then nodded, laughing.

“Like, how? Does it have an affect on the festivities in any way?”

“No, not in any way you’d notice. We’re virile. We have control over our reproductive systems.”

“Did your women, before they died, have that control, too, over their ovaries?”

He smiled but there was a touch of sadness, “No. It’s up to the husband.”

  “That’s hardly fair.” I pouted.

He looked at me like I was adorable and shrugged.

“Alpha male society? Men are in charge?”

“Basically, yes. It always worked out well. We always have the best in mind for our mates. A Phallyxian man cares deeply about his wife. Is that it? I really want to get rid of her as soon as possible. I’ve messaged them to come in the back door and now they’re in the drawing room.” He started hitting buttons on the food and beverage machine.

“I was just also going to say that if meeting me, seeing that there are more choices around here now is really why you want to put the brakes on with your fiancé, so you can play the field, just be gentle with her. Handle her with care. Even if you’re not in love with her or even if you’re not sure if she really loves you, she has feelings. I hope you’re the kind of guy to treat a woman’s heart gently, Daxx. I kinda like you so far and it would be a huge waste, as far as I’m concerned, if you were reckless with someone’s feelings.”

He moved toward me and did it with such purpose, such intent, that I took a step back. His arm hooked me by my waist and he hauled me right against him and bent so that his mouth was almost to mine.

“You kinda like me?” he asked huskily, a hair’s breadth away from my mouth.

I felt my nipples go hard. Tingles trilled up my spine.

“Yeah,” came out as a rush, “So far, there’s a lot to like.”

His mouth was on mine again and then he was backing me up and before I knew it, we were collapsing on the bed.

“Daxx,” I breathed against his mouth, my hands at his jaw. Gosh, it was a sexy jaw.

“Jetta,” he returned and his tongue slipped back inside my mouth.

My hands moved to his solid shoulders.

I turned my head. “You have to go down there.”

“Let them wait. I can’t. Let’s see how much more you like me after I rock the world from fucking you so hard.”

“No. I can’t kiss you the way I want to kiss you if you have a girlfriend. I’m not having sex with you while you’re engaged. Go. Either end it first or don’t end it and maybe let me sleep in your spare room tonight so that I can gather my senses before another alien tries to pounce on me. Tomorrow I can figure everything else out.”

  He growled. Growled!

  I jolted with a start.

  “No one pounces on you.”

  “Okay,” I squeaked.

“I’m ending it with her now,” he said, with resolve.

“Okay. But again, just a hookup. I’m not ready for… for…”

  His hand covered my mouth.

“Stop saying that. I’ll be back. No more wine. You have no tolerance for it. I’ve ordered some fresh fruit juice for you that’ll help reverse the effects. If you’re tired after you have your pizza, sleep. No climbing out windows. Stay here so no one but me can pounce on you.”

I nodded behind his hand. It was bossy of him to tell me that I couldn’t have wine but a) I didn’t want to get drunker than I somehow already was and b) I, oddly, didn’t mind how bossy he was being. It was sort of hot.

He removed his hand from my mouth and grabbed my face with both hands, “I’ll be back as fast as possible.”

His right hand dove onto my hair and he gave it a playful tug and another growl rumbled up out of him as his lips touched mine again.

I felt the bottom of my stomach drop to the floor. Holy shit.

Fucking this guy in order to not die? Um, it didn’t feel like it’d be a hardship.

He pointed to the food replicator-like thingy as he passed it. “Food will be ready in a few minutes. It will sound once and then the door will open and your food will be on one side, your beverage on the other. Drink it.”

“Ho-kay,” I put fingertips to my now swollen mouth.

  That alien could kiss.

  DAXX

Daxx strode down to where they were waiting, and with purpose. This needed to be over with quickly. He needed to get back up to her and finish making her his. He’d deal with the fallout of that action later, after her ear gem changed color. He couldn’t shake the feeling he needed to get to her and marry her as quickly as possible, so that there was no chance anyone could stop him or do it first.

Daxx’s father and Treya sat in the room to the left of the stairs. Treya was drinking wine. His father was drinking water.

“Daxx,” she jumped to her feet, clutching her throat, looking horrified, “Is it true? Please say it isn’t true.”

  “Treya, I’m sorry if t
his upsets you but I’m calling off our arrangement.”

“Why?” Treya gasped and she looked ugly with her horror. Her eyes were dead, flat. Her mouth agape. He found the notion of being with any other woman hideous, suddenly. Any other woman but his Jetta.

“There’s no attraction between us,” he answered truthfully. He wasn’t attracted to a single thing about her.

His father sat sipping his water, his eyes looking hard, his mouth looking tight. Daxx knew his father was busy today and also could guess the man would not be pleased about having to be here. He was also not likely to be pleased about Daxx’s change of heart.

“You haven’t tried, Daxx. I’m very attracted to you. You know this but yet you always hold back.”

  Daxx took a big breath.

Her eyes filled with tears, “Can we spend time alone? You haven’t already married her?”

  “No. But that’s imminent.”

“Those are her shoes?” Treya gestured to the floor.

He nodded, seeing Jetta’s shoes thrown carelessly there. And he didn’t like it. He’d become protective of even her belongings this quickly, which was surprising because he’d never felt this way, but it was also not something that bothered him. And that was surprising.

“But they’re so little,” Treya protested, as if that made a difference in the world. She evidently thought she was far superior to the Earth women by that statement.

“Treya, there are a vast number of Phallyxian males who will line up to compete for you. You’ll be taken care of.”

She looked hopeful for a moment but then her expression dropped, “None as well as you.”

And that was the gist of it. His family was the most powerful, most wealthy in the region. And she wanted that. She didn’t want Daxx as much as she wanted that status.

She may have read his expression by the look on her face. It might have been the first time she’d actually paid attention.

“Daxx? You do not understand. Being one of such a small number of remaining females on Phallyx has not been easy. I have lived under lock and key to protect me. I hear the threats. I’ve been nearly stolen twice by ambushes of savage men. You aren’t like them. You don’t look at me like I am only what’s between my legs. You can keep me safe from what our beautiful peaceful world has become.”
