He came willingly and she moaned into his mouth, his tongue stroking her bottom lip and then entering her mouth again, tasting her. This was better than the first night on her porch.

His mouth trailed down her neck, licking her skin and making her tremble. She involuntarily thrust her body against him, grinding up against his cock.

She moaned again, louder this time, as one of his hands caressed her stomach and covered her breast. Squeezing her and fingering her nipple through her bra, she felt the wetness between her thighs.

  “Grey,” she whispered.

“Never despised someone and wanted them in the same breath.” He bit on her lobe. “Until now.”

The words should have bothered her, but they didn’t. She knew exactly the way he was feeling—it was mutual. Currently her need to kiss him outweighed her need to have him run over by a stampede. Her fingers draped down his chest and stopped at the buckle of his jeans. She had never wanted anyone the way she wanted him at this very moment. Without a second thought, she unsnapped his jeans, dragged the zipper down, and slid her trembling hand into his pants.

As she covered his large, hard cock, he flipped up the cups of her bra and his calloused palms scraped against her nipples. She moaned, unable to control herself. It felt so good. She licked her lips, wanting to taste him again.

Bringing her head forward, she sought out his lips and kissed him again. She had been kissed plenty of times, she was a big fan of kissing, but this guy was amazing. This was, hands down, the best kiss ever. Damn, why was it always the jerks who kissed the best?

Stroking his lips, gliding over them slowly, she heard him groan when she stroked his cock faster. She refused to think of the irrationality in this scenario. If she did, she might stop. Her tongue swirled around his, sucking on his tongue as though it were his dick. Any rational thought slipped away from her mind. All she wanted was him.

He tweaked her nipples between his fingers before sliding down into her shorts. His fingers glided roughly over her sensitive nub and dove inside her without warning. Her head fell back against the wood stall and she gasped at the feel of him pumping inside her. She squeezed hard on his erection, but his other hand gripped her wrist.

He broke away from the kiss.

Her eyes fluttered open, meeting his heated stare. She whispered, “Don’t stop.”

The corner of his mouth curled and he added another finger, fucking her slow and deep. Her heart was pounding fast and she was gasping for breath. She was so close to coming. Her hips moved against his hand and his fingers inside her slammed hard as his thumb rubbed over her clit, sending her over the edge. She strained her neck, hitting her head against the wood and clamped her jaw. So close.

His mouth covered hers as her orgasm peaked, and she moaned into his mouth, barely able to breathe. She turned her head, but he refused to release her from the kiss. Her body trembled as she rode out the last shiver from her orgasm. She slumped back against the wall with Grey kissing her lips and slowing his hand but not removing it from her shorts.

This was not enough, she thought. She released his cock and slid her hands up his chest to his neck. She wanted him inside her, she wanted her mouth over him—she wanted everything.

The sound of a truck rumbling up the driveway had the kiss slowing to an end. She gripped his neck, hoping to keep it going, but she felt the pressure of him pulling away. She slumped back against the wooden gate, disappointed. She was being greedy, she wanted to come again.

Her head turned to the left, watching the barn door which was still closed. A rough hand gently tugged her chin and her eyes met a beautiful pair of sky blue eyes. The side of his lip was slightly cocked up. God, he had a beautiful face.

“Got to stop but I’m not done with you, darlin’. Not even close to done.”

Britt’s heart beat faster, her body trembling. Her gaze locked on him, she remained silent.

“I’m going to pick you up tomorrow night at six. I’m going to take you to dinner, feed ya, then bring ya home.” He stepped closer and his chest rumbled in a growl. “And keep you there, till I get my fill of you.”

Was he asking her out for dinner and sex? Really? Actually, he wasn’t asking, he was telling her. If this had been any other man, she might have decked him for demanding sex. However, coming from Grey, her desire for him trumped any rational thought. She was all for dinner and sex with Greyson Fords.

  “Britt?”

She stared back at him and nodded.

“Is that a yes? You’re gonna be here, ready for me at six?”

“Yes.” Hell yes, she would be ready. This was so out of character for her.

His mouth formed a cocky grin. His arrogance should have bothered her, but she was too horny to think straight. She reached up for his neck, pulling him down against her lips. This time he gasped, and she took the opportunity to slide her tongue against his before pulling back and giving him another peck.

Stepping back and adjusting his hat, he smirked at her. “Six.”

“I’ll be here.” She smiled. He turned around and she watched him make his way out of the barn.

This was crazy. An hour ago, he was yelling at her and now they were going on a date tomorrow night. This was so screwed up. Dating or screwing the enemy was not going to end well, this she knew.

However, those blue eyes, strong hands, and hard body were just too good to pass up. This girl is gonna get some. She’d worry about the repercussions later.

  Chapter Eight

The livestock auction had taken a lot longer than expected. Greyson had tried calling her, but in the mountains getting any kind of signal was next to impossible. They were due back around four, which would have been plenty of time to get home, shower, and get to Britt’s by six. Then Tripp happened, as always, a pain in the ass since the day he was born. He had his eye on a horse. Naturally, it was the last to be auctioned. By the time the auction finished and Tripp had his horse paid for and loaded into the trailer, it was past five and they were three hours from home.

“Damn.” Greyson tried once more to call Britt, but it was dropped.

“Who you been trying to get for the last hour?” Tripp asked.

“None of your business.” His date with Britt was not up for discussion with any member of the Fords family. It would not go over well. They deemed her the enemy.

Jasper peered over from the driver’s side. He had heard Grey curse up a storm, and from his stare, Grey had a feeling Jasper knew it had something to do with a woman.

“None of my business, huh? I’d say that’s code for you trying to get laid.” Tripp snorted from the back of the truck. Leaning up between the front seats, he asked, “Who is it? Anyone I know? A leftover of mine, maybe?”

“Boy, it’d be a cold day in hell before I even thought of touching one of your leftovers.” Grey sneered and pushed Tripp’s forehead, tossing him back to the seat.

“Come on, Grey, give it up, who is it?”

“I ain’t telling you, so you might as well quit askin’.”

Jasper snorted and glanced over at Grey, shaking his head from side to side. Grey and Jasper had always been close growing up. There wasn’t much Grey didn’t share with his middle brother. He hadn’t mentioned Britt to Jasper. He didn’t have to.

  “What?” Grey asked.

“It’s that girl? Britt?” Jasper knowingly smirked.

“What? Fuck no. He wouldn’t mess with a thieving bitch like her,” Tripp shouted from the backseat.

Grey heaved his body around and scowled harshly down at Tripp. “You watch your mouth, Tripp Asa, or I’ll beat your ass the minute we reach the ranch.”

“Knew it.” Jasper’s whisper could be heard even over the shouting coming from the backseat.

“Are you fucking with me, Grey? Please tell me you ain’t got nothing to do with the stupid whore.”

Before Jasper could pull over, Grey’s fist connected with Tripp’s jaw. His head was forced back from the weight of the punch.
The truck swerved and rumbled to a stop. Grey yanked open the door and jumped out of the truck, doors opened, and Tripp stumbled out from the back, blood dripping from his lip, his eyes enraged.

“Let’s go, little brother. You got a big mouth. Come on, I’ll show you where that mouth of yours will get ya.” Grey stalked toward Tripp, who geared up his fists. Grey sneered. This little shit really thought he could take me? Advancing forward, Grey knocked into a solid wall. Jasper.

“Jesus Christ, calm down. Both of you.”

Tripp spit out a wad of blood. “He started it.” Glaring at Grey, he said, “Cannot believe you. Taking up with…”

“Choose your next words wisely, Tripp.” Jasper tightened his grip on Grey. Grey knew his brother was trying to play mediator, he always did. Grey stood rigid, waiting for Tripp to finish what he was saying. Jasper was holding him back, but only because Grey was allowing it. He could get past him if he wanted to. Whether he did depended on Tripp’s next words. His nostrils flared as he glared over Jasper’s shoulder at his little brother.

“That girl. Does that make it better, Grey? Taking up with that girl who stole what was ours. Our land.” His voice was angry and his face reddened. “She stole our land and now you’re trying to get with her. Sleeping with the enemy, Grey?”

Grey’s body relaxed a bit and Jasper’s hold gave way. They both knew their misguided, immature brother’s way of thinking. Being the youngest of the family afforded him some leeway when it came to the dramatics. Grey took off his hat and swiped his forehead.

“I’m not sleeping with the enemy, Tripp, ’cause she’s not the enemy. It’s her land, Cal left it to her.”

“She doesn’t know the first thing about ranching.”

“No, she doesn’t, maybe it’ll work to our benefit. Maybe she’ll realize how hard it is and give up, I don’t know. But it doesn’t change the fact, it is hers, for now.” He stalked to Tripp. “I’ll tell you once, Tripp, you watch your mouth. You call her anything other than her name, you deal with me. You got me?”

A conspiratorial smile crept across Tripp’s face. “You’re trying to get with her for the land, aren’t ya?” His laughed echoed through the flat land. “Like we talked about?”

Grey stepped back, confused. “What are you talking about?”

“Well, you get with her, marry her and the land is ours again.”

Dear Lord, his brother was a dipshit. Not this again. Grey shook his head in disgust and donned his hat. He wouldn’t even humor Tripp by engaging in this conversation again.

“Not five minutes ago, you’re taking a punch to the face calling her the enemy and now, you want Grey to marry her?” Jasper rolled his eyes and turned to Grey. “How hard did you hit him?”

“Not hard enough.” Grey scowled at his little brother.

“It’s a great plan and you both know it. You charm her, get her in your bed, she’ll gladly hand over the land and then you can send her packing back to the city where she belongs.”

“Christ, Tripp, you really are an asshole, aren’t ya? I mean, it’s not some dumb act or something, you really are a shithead,” Grey scoffed.

“What?” Tripp straightened his back, obviously offended by Grey’s words. The saddest part of this whole conversation was Tripp not even realizing what an asshole he was. There was always one in the family and Tripp was theirs. Resident family asshole.

Jasper threw his arms in the air and walked back to get into the truck. Grey shook his head and ignored Tripp, climbing into the truck and slamming the door.

It was a long and quiet ride back to the ranch. Not even the horse whinnied, probably sensing the tension swirling inside the cab of the truck.

Grey tried three more times, each time glancing at the clock on his phone. The minutes spread further apart and he knew as time went on, his chances of explaining this to Britt dwindled. She was a hard ass underneath her pretty face and sexy body. Even if she did give him a chance to explain, which was unlikely, she was not going to make it easy on him.

They were about twenty minutes from the ranch when his call finally went through. It rang several times before going to voicemail. He tried again with the same results. He tossed his phone onto the dashboard and stared out the window.

  “Not answering?”

Grey didn’t bother looking over to Jasper. He shook his head.

Tripp piped in from the backseat. “So, what’s your plan with her?”

Slowly Grey turned in his seat, glaring at Tripp. Tripp leaned back into his seat. He knew what was coming if another word about Britt left his swollen, red-stained lips.

The truck remained silent. Fifteen minutes later, they were passing Britt’s place. He couldn’t see the house from the road. He wondered if she was still waiting for him. Shit!

They arrived at the ranch and he double-timed it back to his house, west of the main house. Tripp and Jasper could handle the unloading of the horse, he had other plans. She was going to be fuming he was late, but he’d break her down, seduce her into forgiving him. Greyson Fords had a way with women, they never could stay mad at him for long. He planned on using everything he had to get back in Britt’s good graces. And hopefully, her bed.

Taking the stairs two at a time, he raced up to the second floor to get showered and changed.

“Sure, ya won’t come with us, Britt? I’ll teach you how to line dance.” Sarah’s sweet voice echoed behind Britt, who was sitting crossed-legged on the couch, scowling at the television.

She had spent a good hour getting ready. She even painted her toenails. Fucking jerkoff asshole, piece of shit, douchebag! All the time spent getting ready for a date and he never showed up. Two hours, waiting, pacing around the living room and running back and forth to the bathroom, checking her makeup. And for what? To be stood up. No calls, no texts. Nothing. She had tossed her phone in her bag thirty minutes ago. Her constant checking with nothing there was driving her crazy and making her feel like a complete chump.

She berated herself for the last hour. She should have known better. This was payback for her backing out of the ranch deal. What an asshole. He set her up and she fell for it. She gripped the pillow she had been leaning on and flung it across the room, knocking into the chair.

“No, you guys go, have fun. I’ve got things to do.” She crossed her arms and whispered, “Like plotting his death.”

Lucas walked around from behind the couch and sat on the arm of the chair, seated across from her. He took off his hat and gave her a sympathetic smile.

“Don’t give him another thought, Britt. Come out with us, we got some friends we’re meeting, good people. You’ll have fun. What do ya say?”

Britt squinted. “I’d say, I’ve been stood up, Lucas. I don’t feel like going out, I feeling like planning my revenge, so, as I said before, you guys go.” Turning back to the news, she glared. Her revenge would be sweet. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Greyson Fords would feel her fury.

“Look, I hate to say it but I told…”

He never got to finish his sentence when Britt’s fiery glare turned on him. Slowly cocking her head to the side, her eyes blazed. He better not fucking say it or Lucas would find himself as number two on her shit list.

Sarah came to stand by him. She put her arm on his shoulder. Good woman, she was silently telling him to shut up.

“Let’s go, Lucas. Britt, if you change your mind, we’ll be at Steers, on Main across from the feed store.” She tugged on Lucas’s shirt. “Come on, honey, let’s go.”

Britt leaned back into the couch, ignoring them both. She was thankful to Sarah, but right now, she wanted to be alone. Humiliation, especially in front of others, was not an easy task to get beyond. Her eyes moistened and she inhaled a deep breath. She would not cry.

Britt turned up the volume on the television. Maybe she could catch a rerun of Snapped and get some ideas. She could hear soft whispers from Sarah and Lucas as they walked to the door. She knew th
ey felt bad for her, but Sarah also knew she wanted to be alone. Girls just knew other girls. Thank God for the sisterhood.

She heard the door open and a hushed whisper from Sarah. “Oh no, why is he here?”

Britt’s ears perked up, and she looked over her shoulder past the back of the couch. Sarah’s face had paled and Lucas’ turned red. He looked like he was ready to hit something.

“What the hell do you want? Aren’t you a little late for your date?” His tone was laced with venom. Britt sprang up from the couch.

“Tell me that asshole has the nerve to show up now.” She stormed to the door and grabbed the handle, throwing it back to open the door wide.

Unbelievable. There he was, in a pair of jeans and a button-down shirt with the top button open. His cowboy hat sat centered on his head, and his eyes peered down at her from beneath the rim. Damn him and those blue eyes. His eyes were heated and crinkled into a squinty glare. He was glaring at her? Oh, fuck no!

“I’d like to speak with you in private.” He glanced at Lucas and Sarah, and then his gaze landed back on Britt. “Please.” His request sounded more like a demand. Who the hell did he think he was?

Britt felt her own rage rise through her body. Her hands trembled from her anger. This guy had some nerve showing up two hours late, demanding anything. But she wasn’t about to unleash on him in front of anyone who might hold her back if she decided to deck him. She turned to Lucas, who was throwing daggers at Grey.

She reached out for his arm. “You guys go, I got this.”

“I think we’ll stay.” His stare never left Grey.

“Lucas,” she snapped. “I wasn’t asking. You and Sarah go.”

She could tell from the look in his eyes he was fuming and he didn’t want her alone with Grey, but when Sarah wrenched on his arm, he relented, following her out the door. He did, however, stare down Grey as he walked past.
