A Werewolf In The Hood
2 am on Wilshire and Western Ave. A young man goes down the stairway to the subway station to catch the last train for the night. As he waits for the train, he hears a disturbance near the entrance to the subway. He turns and looks but no one is there. He continues to read an edition of Source magazine and stares at his watch impatiently. He is alerted by the sounds of a trash can being turned over. Now he is curious so he walks in the direction of the sound and he sees a rat, but no one there. He is the only one waiting for the train in the quiet subway. Finally he sees the light of the coming subway train. He breathes a sigh of relief and then he turns to look behind him one last time. He attempts to yell, but he cannot make a sound fast enough, before a sharp claw rips his throat open.
The next morning at Jordan's restaurant.
"You have got to do it Ray Ray, we need stuff, I am tired of being poor!"
"But Shanika it's the economy. My Walmart job only pays so much. That, with your GR money is barely enough to pay the rent"
"Every body ain't broke. Your Uncle Henry still has big dope money, you need to ask him for some!"
"I haven't seen my uncle in over a year now!"
In the background playing on a wide screen TV, a news reporter gives the ghastly details of the murder that occurred in the subway station. But the young couple pays no attention to the TV. They have other things on their minds.
"Alright, alright, I will try and get in touch with my uncle, if that will stop you from complaining! But I am telling you, it’s going to be a waste of time!"
"We'll see Ray Ray!"
Later that evening the young couple drove up to Ray Ray's uncle's house in Baldwin Hills.
"And you keep talking about everybody's broke. Look at his house Ray Ray!"
The ex-gang banging drug dealer’s home, with 3 stories, 10 rooms and 3 baths, was very impressive. Ray Ray's uncle Henry was what people in the hood called an OG. He was a member of the Inglewood Family gang and he had sold hundreds of pounds of crack during the nineties, before a bullet to his back ended his gang banging and drug-dealing and confined him to a wheelchair.
"Look what the birds flew in, my nephew Ray Ray!"
"What up Unc, long time no see!"
"And who is this lovely lady?"
"This is my wife Shanika!"
"Nice to meet you Shanika!"
Uncle Henry kisses her hand.
"I haven't seen you since my incident!"
"I know Unc. I have been meaning to come and holler at you, but work and being married … you know!"
"Ray Ray always says good things about you uncle. I hope you don't mind me calling you uncle!"
"How could I mind, Shanika? You and Ray Ray have made me feel better already. I never have any company!"
That night they smoked weed and drank expensive liquor, while Ray Ray and his uncle reminisced about old times all night. Early next morning they made a plea for money.
"I hate to ask you Uncle Henry, but things are kind of rough on us right now. We'll pay it back, I promise. The only reason I ask is because were desperate!"
"That's right Uncle, we are really desperate!" Shanika chimed in. The two held their breath, as the 60 year old man sat quietly for a full five minutes before answering.
"I tell you what, Ray Ray. No, I won’t give you money now! But if you and Shanika will live here and help around the house until I die. I'll make you the beneficiaries of my will!"
Two days later, Henry's lawyer showed up and drew up a new will... a will leaving his nephew his entire fortune, but with one condition.
"You understand, Jeff that the document is valid only if Ray Ray and his wife are still living here at the time of my death?" he instructs Jeff Peterson, his lawyer.
"I got it!" the lawyer replies.
"We"ll be here!" Shanika reassures her uncle.
The arrangement went well for about two months. Then Shanika began to become impatient.
"I tell you I am bored Ray Ray! Bored to death! I am tired of taking care of your handicapped uncle!"
"Shh, he may hear you! You got to be patient, Shanika! We can't leave now!"
"Patient, patient! I am tired of being patient! Why doesn't he just die? At this rate he will live to be a hundred!"
"Get a hold of yourself, Shanika. He is going to die sooner or later!"
"What a fool I have married, do I have to tell you everything! We don't need to wait for your dear uncle Henry to die. We can kill him now, stupid!"
"Kill him? You are tripping really hard, Shanika!"
"Yes, kill him! And I got it all figured out. We're going to poison him! Stop looking so worried and listen to me!"
"I'll listen, but what you’re talking about sounds crazy. We could get life in prison!"
But as always, Ray Ray was no match for his wife's nagging. One night after offering to cook Uncle Henry dinner, she put her plan into action.
“What is that you’re cooking? I can't wait until dinner is ready. It smells delicious!"
"It's something special I whipped up for you, Uncle Henry!"
"Now remember, stupid! Do not eat the greens!" Shanika had planned it out perfectly except for one minor detail – Uncle Henry didn't like greens.
"The baked chicken was great, Shanika!"
"What about the greens, Uncle? You didn't touch the greens!" "I never eat greens – gives me gas something terrible. But you two can help yourself!"
"Uh, I am full right now … maybe later!" Shanika answers, with a disappointed look on her face.
The next morning the three watched the early morning news.
"Another body has been found near the Baldwin Hills area. People are really starting to believe the killings are the work of a Werewolf!" the news reporter explains during the newscast.
"That happened less than a mile from here! Boy am I glad you two are here. It makes me feel a whole lot safer!"
With women like Shanika, once their mind is set on something there is basically no stopping them. So she came up with a new plan.
Later that night Shanika told the reluctant Ray Ray her new plan.
"It’s perfect! With all the news reports of people being killed by a Werewolf, all we have to do is kill him and make it look like a Werewolf did it." For once, Ray Ray didn't argue. He too was tired of waiting on his uncle and being stuck in the Baldwin Hills mansion.
> "People right now would believe it was the same killer, if we made it look like it." he thought. "For once you’re right. People would go for it if we did it now. They say a werewolf only strikes when there is a full moon!"
"Let me check online when the next full moon is going to happen!" Tomorrow night! Again they had their murder plot, all planned out. But this time there would be no mistakes.
"Ray Ray, did you get the ax out of the shed?"
"I got everything, don't worry!"
"Now remember you’re going to push him out of the wheelchair first and then hack him up with the Ax!"
"Remember to make sure to cut him to ribbons, just like the body they showed in the news!"
"I am kind of wondering … what is really out there killing those people?"
"It's definitely not a werewolf, Ray Ray! Just some crazed killer that's all."
Everything was set for that evening and after the murderous pair finished their dinner, Uncle Henry sat in front of an open window on the nice spring night.
"Nice moon isn't it? Nothing like a full moon to light the skies!"
"Would you like to take a walk, Uncle Henry?" Shanika asked innocently.
"Would you walk with me? I haven't been out at night for a while. I need some night air!"
"We'll walk you Unc, no problem!" Ray Ray says it, trying not to sound excited. Fate seemed to be on Ray Ray and Shanika’s side. Their uncle directed them towards a cliff – the very one they had planned to throw him down after Ray Ray had chopped him up.
"Great view! I haven't seen it in a while. Very soothing!"
"Enjoy it, Unc! Because it's the last thing you’re going to see before you die!"
"What makes you think I am going to die? Ray Ray!"
"You’re going to die because we’re going to kill you! We're tired of waiting on the money! You’re old as dirt and you still won’t die!" And even as Ray Ray began pushing his wheelchair closer to the cliff, Uncle Henry remained calm and not angered at all. He seemed, in fact, sad rather than afraid.
"Ray Ray! That witch you’re with got you tripping. You can't kill me!"
"Just watch him, Uncle Henry!" Shanika snarls sarcastically.
Ray Ray pushed the wheelchair over and Henry fell on the ground for a brief moment and then he got up laughing hysterically.
"You can walk!"
"Yeah, Shanika, I can walk. It's a shame, because I actually liked your company!" For a moment Ray Ray, was too confused to move, as he saw his Uncle standing and then walking towards him.
"So, you can walk. You’re still going to die out here tonight!"
"Ray Ray, I already told you. You can't kill me!" Henry laughed.
"Ray Ray’s eyes, full of hate and anger, charged his uncle and put his hands around his throat to choke him out. But instead of the scrawny neck of a sickly old man that he expected. It was a strong neck that was almost as firm as iron. He felt hair begin to grow under his hands.
"What in the world?" Ray Ray watched in terror as his uncle transformed before his eyes. His nostrils flare, and sharp teeth like fangs formed in his enlarged mouth. Shanika and Ray Ray began screaming for their lives. Ray Ray pulled out the mini Ax he had brought to kill his uncle with.
"Now y'all know the truth! It's a shame. Just think! I was really going to leave everything to you Ray Ray! But since it's a full moon out tonight, I have thought of better uses for you two!" The whole neighborhood could hear Ray Ray and Shanika screaming.
By the time neighbors and the police got there, it was too late. The police and homicide detectives looked at what was left of the mangled bodies and paused.
"I tell you Frank, in all my twenty years of detective work, I have never seen this type of brutality, never!"
"This guy is related to the victims. His name is Henry Tucker. I am sure you will want to speak with him." The detective tries to console the murdered victims’ family member.
"I know how you must feel, Mr Henry Tucker. It's sad to lose a loved one!"
"I know!" Henry sobs, crying profusely.
"I don't know if this will make you feel any better, but I promise you, we will get the bastard that did this. I give you my word!"
"Make sure you get him, he killed my family!" Henry sobs and slumps over a bit.
"Someone help this dear old man! You can see he is in a wheelchair."
Crack House Zombies
11:30 pm Friday night in Philadelphia. Judabug and Baby Rat, two smoked out gang bangers are on their shift at a neighborhood crack house. They normally work the grave yard shift until the next morning. Tonight, they’re running late.
"Pull the truck in the back, Baby Rat. I don't want any of these smoked out fools trying to steal our haul!"
"I still can't believe it! You were right, that's almost five hundred pounds of copper we got back there, Judabug!"
"The military abandoned the base a long time ago. No security. Nothing but signs saying ‘keep out’!"
The two had just come from stealing hundreds of pounds of copper from an abandoned Army base and they were beginning their shift at the crack house.
"It's about time y'all got here. I'm ready to go!"
"We got it! Where is our dub?"
The two were paid with a twenty dollar rock at the beginning of the shift and another twenty dollar rock at the end of the shift.
Thirty minutes later, Judabug pushes the burnt Brillo, through the tubular glass pipe over and over again, trying to scrape up a hit.
"Damn! We got all that metal and no money. I need another hit!"
"I want to see what was in that barrel. I am going to the truck to get it!"
"Bring that lighter that's on the dashboard, Baby Rat!" Baby Rat brings in the keg size barrel that they stole. On the side of the military container is a warning sign and the contents are described as MX180. Baby Rat opens the container.
"Daaaamn! This looks like pounds of cocaine!" Baby Rat sifts his hands through the white crystal like substance.
"I wish this was some ya yo. We could be smoking all night!"
"Listen Rat, we might just make that happen. Go and get the cooking jar and some baking soda!" Baby Rat retrieves a large mayonnaise jar and some baking soda.
"This might just work!" Judabug places the white substance into the mayonnaise jar and then sprinkles baking soda into the mix. He adds a very little real powder cocaine and water. He brings the concoction to a boil. A few minutes later he holds in his hand a crack like rock that he puts on a scale.
"Look at this, my ninja! This came back as a quarter ounce rock."
They both laugh and then there is a knock at the door.
"Let's see if we can get paid!" Judabug smiles at Baby Ra, as he breaks the fake crack rock down into twenty dollar pieces.
"Hold up! Here I come!" Judabug opens the door to the crack house and looks out the steel reinforced screen door.
"What you need!"
"I got ten bucks!"
"Give it here. I am doing double ups, ten for twenty!" The guy making the crack purchase smiles as Judabug hands him the big twenty dollar rock.
"Thanks man, that's love!"
"Tell everybody in the hood we got it good over here!"
"No doubt!" As the smoker walked away, more people were coming and going directly to the dope house. An hour later.
"Damn, dog! We done made $250 dollars!"
"Put a hundred of that in the money box and throw me one of Caspar's hundred packs!" The two had plenty of rock and the smoking began. Then there was someone beating on the door.
"I know y'all are in there, sold me this garbage. I'm going to tell Caspar y'all selling the customers finagle!"
"Witch! You bet not say nothing to Caspar!" Judabug yells out the door.
"Man that broad has a big mouth. Let her in and give her a few hits to be quiet.
The first guy they sold the fake cocaine to, Gary, was just settling down in a motel with a prostitute. They had smoked up the drugs and then Gary began to mumb
le.
"What did you say?" the twenty three year old prostitute asked Gary. He then mumbled again and then gestured that the girl come closer to hear what he was saying. She leaned over with her ear next to his mouth, Gary growled and then bit her ear clean off. The girl’s screams of agony could be heard throughout the rundown motel.
The substance MX180 was left over from World War Two. American scientists at the end of the war were working on a bio weapon that would turn soldiers on each other. The substance was created to make a human want nothing more than to feed on other humans. The test results were mixed and then the war ended. So the budget and research for the weapon was cut off. In the confusion following the end of the war, left over MX180 was misplaced. All of it was supposed to be destroyed. But not only did Judabug and Baby Rat find a batch, they rocked it up and sold it to the whole neighborhood.
Fran gets ready to take a hit from the glass pipe.
"Judabug do want a charge?"
"Hell, yeah!" He looked at Fran with hungry eye. The young lady was still pretty even after she had been abusing cocaine for almost six months. Judabug was excited to put his lips on the attractive smoker.
Fran took a big hit and leaned over to give Judabug a charge. Their lips met for a moment and then Judabug yelled out in extreme pain. Fran had managed to bite off his top and bottom lip. She chewed on it as if it were some Kentucky Fried Chicken. Judabug put both hands to his mouth to try and stop the bleeding.
"Witch, what have you done?" Fran lunged at Baby Rat. He took a 32 revolver from his waist and unloaded on the deranged girl.
"We got to get you some help!" Judabug was now laying on the floor bleeding. The sound of sirens could be heard approaching.
"Come on Juda, we got to get out of here and get you some help!"
He finally dragged him into the front yard. Then he heard people screaming and hollering all up and down the block. The crack house was on.
"What’s going on?” he thought to himself. He could see people being chased and others on the ground being eaten by their neighbors.
